Abstract

As the aged have increased due to the progress of medical science and the low birth-rate, the various cultures and industries for them are on the rise. The aged want to enjoy the diverse social activities and the culture content for spending their spare time. But they are liable to be restricted by the activities due to the physical, psychological, and mental disorder. This paper suggests a tangible bicycle game content and interface with the function of training and improving the lower part of body that is necessary to the old people`s movement. The suggested game content can attract the interest of the aged by the familiar device, bicycle, and the game design for the old people. We develop the sensory interface for augmenting the immersion in the game. The aged can enjoy their spare time doing both game and exercise through the sensory interface and the real-time display of 3D graphics.

Abstract

This paper presents a new speed and position sensorless control method of permanent magnet synchronous motors based on the sliding mode observer. The sliding mode observer structure and its design method are described. Also, Lyapunov functions are chosen for determining the adaptive law for the speed and the stator resistance estimator. The effectiveness of the proposed observer is confirmed by experimental results.

Abstract

A control approach for the robust position control of an induction motor based on the binary disturbance observer is described. The binary controller with the binary disturbance observer is implemented for the position control of the induction machine subjected to load disturbances and realizes continuous control. The binary disturbance observer is used to eliminate the chattering problem of a sliding mode disturbance observer. In order to eliminate the steady-state error, the binary disturbance observer with an integral augmented switching hyperplane is proposed. The robustness is achieved, and continuous control is realized by employing the proposed observer without the chattering problem and the steady-state error. The effectiveness of the proposed observer is confirmed by the comparative experimental results.

Abstract

A control approach for the robust position control of induction motors based on the binary disturbance observer is described. The conventional binary disturbance observer is used to remove the chattering problem of a sliding mode disturbance observer. However, steady state error may exist in the conventional binary disturbance observer because it estimates external disturbances with a constant boundary layer. In order to overcome this problem, a new binary disturbance observer with an integral augmented switching hyperplane is proposed. The robustness is achieved, and the continuous control is realised by employing the proposed observer without the chattering problem and the steady state error. The effectiveness of the proposed observer is confirmed by the comparative experimental results.
