Abstract Inorganic semiconductors typically have limited p-type behavior due to the scarcity of holes and the localized valence band maximum, hindering the progress of complementary devices and circuits. In this work, we propose an inorganic blending strategy to activate the hole-transporting character in an inorganic semiconductor compound, namely tellurium-selenium-oxygen (TeSeO). By rationally combining intrinsic p-type semimetal, semiconductor, and wide-bandgap semiconductor into a single compound, the TeSeO system displays tunable bandgaps ranging from 0.7 to 2.2 eV. Wafer-scale ultrathin TeSeO films, which can be deposited at room temperature, display high hole field-effect mobility of 48.5 cm2/(Vs) and robust hole transport properties, facilitated by Te-Te (Se) portions and O-Te-O portions, respectively. The nanosphere lithography process is employed to create nanopatterned honeycomb TeSeO broadband photodetectors, demonstrating a high responsibility of 603 A/W, an ultrafast response of 5 μs, and superior mechanical flexibility. The p-type TeSeO system is highly adaptable, scalable, and reliable, which can address emerging technological needs that current semiconductor solutions may not fulfill.

Abstract High synthesis temperatures and specific growth substrates are typically required to obtain crystalline or oriented inorganic functional thin films, posing a significant challenge for their utilization in large-scale, low-cost (opto-)electronic applications on conventional flexible substrates. Here, we explore a pulse irradiation synthesis (PIS) to prepare thermoelectric metal chalcogenide (e.g., Bi2Se3, SnSe2, and Bi2Te3) films on multiple polymeric substrates. The self-propagating combustion process enables PIS to achieve a synthesis temperature as low as 150 °C, with an ultrafast reaction completed within one second. Beyond the photothermoelectric (PTE) property, the thermal coupling between polymeric substrates and bismuth selenide films is also examined to enhance the PTE performance, resulting in a responsivity of 71.9 V/W and a response time of less than 50 ms at 1550 nm, surpassing most of its counterparts. This PIS platform offers a promising route for realizing flexible PTE or thermoelectric devices in an energy-, time-, and cost-efficient manner.

In this paper, we mainly consider a eco-epidemiological predator-prey system where delay is time-varying to study the transmission dynamics of Bacterial white spot disease in Litopenaeus Vannamei, which will contribute to the sustainable development of shrimp. First, the permanence and the positiveness of solutions are given. Then, the conditions for the local asymptotic stability of the equilibriums are established. Next, the global asymptotic stability for the system around the positive equilibrium is gained by applying the functional differential equation theory and constructing a proper Lyapunov function. Last, some numerical examples verify the validity and feasibility of previous theoretical results.

Abstract Growing high-quality core-shell heterostructure nanowires is still challenging due to the lattice mismatch issue at the radial interface. Herein, a versatile strategy is exploited for the lattice-mismatch-free construction of III-V/chalcogenide core-shell heterostructure nanowires by simply utilizing the surfactant and amorphous natures of chalcogenide semiconductors. Specifically, a variety of III-V/chalcogenide core-shell heterostructure nanowires are successfully constructed with controlled shell thicknesses, compositions, and smooth surfaces. Due to the conformal properties of obtained heterostructure nanowires, the wavelength-dependent bi-directional photoresponse and visible light-assisted infrared photodetection are realized in the type-I GaSb/GeS core-shell heterostructure nanowires. Also, the enhanced infrared photodetection is found in the type-II InGaAs/GeS core-shell heterostructure nanowires compared with the pristine InGaAs nanowires, in which both responsivity and detectivity are improved by more than 2 orders of magnitude. Evidently, this work paves the way for the lattice-mismatch-free construction of core-shell heterostructure nanowires by chemical vapor deposition for next-generation high-performance nanowire optoelectronics.

Cultural inheritance is the spiritual genealogy and life source to sustainable development for a journal. This paper took Science and Technology of Cereals, Oils and Foods (in brief “this journal”) as an example to review. The period of this journal has been divided into four stages, including the gestation period from 1991 to 1992, the early and long-term from1993 to 1996, the mature period from 1997 to 2018, and the new development period from 2019 to the present, in order to review its important performance, growth and progress in the changes of social times and the reform of Chinese scientific research system over more than 30 years. By sorting out the development history and the operating experience, the phased achievements and substantial progress in terms of operating characteristics were summarized. The historical contribution, hard work and harvest have also condensed. It could lay an important cornerstone for the journal to continue to carry forward the fine tradition and promote the construction of brand culture. This paper could also promote the journal development to a new level, and provide reference for peer journals to sort out their historical developments.

Through the research on academic, social and industrial influences of Science and technology of cereals, oils and foods, focusing on the situation of journal manuscripts, academic influence indicators, new media indicators and industrial influence indicators, this papre systematically analyzed 17 items including the structure and number of papers, downloads and citations, publishing timeliness, WeChat and official website operation, authors and distribution groups, domestic and foreign media attention, database inclusion and awards, et al, which were collected from the past 11 years and new media since its establishment. The practical effects of the journal's reform measures from multiple dimensions since 2019 have been comprehensively verified and objectively evaluated, which grasped the development trend of the journal.These analysis could provide a data reference for adjustment the focus of journal work, optimization reform measures, improvement the quality of journals, expansion academic influence and enhancement the status of disciplines.

ObjectivesThe objective of this study was to examine the association between the oral microbiome and pregnancy outcomes, specifically healthy or preterm low birth weight (PLBW) in individuals with and without periodontal disease (PD).Material and methodsIn this prospective clinical trial, we recruited 186 pregnant women, 17 of whom exhibited PD and delivered PLBW infants (PD-PLBW group). Of the remaining women, 155 presented PD and delivered healthy infants; 18 of these subjects with similar periodontal condition and age matched to the PD-PLBW group, and they became the PD-HD group. From the total group, 11 women exhibited healthy gingiva and had a healthy delivery (HD) and healthy infants (H-HD group), and 3 exhibited healthy gingiva and delivered PLBW infants (H-PLBW group). Periodontal parameters were recorded, and subgingival plaque and serum were collected during 26-28 gestational weeks. For the plaque samples, microbial abundance and diversity were accessed by 16S rRNA sequencing.ResultsWomen with PD showed an enrichment in the genus Porphyromonas, Treponema, and Filifactor, whereas women with healthy gingiva showed an enrichment in Streptococcus, Actinomyces, and Corynebacterium, independently of the birth status. Although no significant difference was found in the beta diversity between the 4 groups, women that had PLBW infants presented a significantly lower abundance of the genus Neisseria, independently of PD status.ConclusionLower levels of Neisseria align with preterm low birth weight in pregnant women, whereas a higher abundance of Treponema, Porphyromonas, Fretibacterium, and Filifactor and a lower abundance of Streptococcus may contribute to periodontal disease during pregnancy.Clinical relevanceThe oral commensal Neisseria have potential in the prediction of PLBW.

BackgroundBreast cancer (BRCA) is a common malignancy in women, and its resistance to immunotherapy is a major challenge. Abnormal expression of genes is important in the occurrence and development of BRCA and may also affect the prognosis of patients. Although many BRCA prognosis model scores have been developed, they are only applicable to a limited number of disease subtypes. Our goal is to develop a new prognostic score that is more accurate and applicable to a wider range of BRCA patients.MethodsBRCA patient data from The Cancer Genome Atlas database was used to identify breast cancer-related genes (BRGs). Differential expression analysis of BRGs was performed using the ‘limma’ package in R. Prognostic BRGs were identified using co-expression and univariate Cox analysis. A predictive model of four BRGs was established using Cox regression and the LASSO algorithm. Model performance was evaluated using K-M survival and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The predictive ability of the signature in immune microenvironment and immunotherapy was investigated. In vitro experiments validated POLQ function.ResultsOur study identified a four-BRG prognostic signature that outperformed conventional clinicopathological characteristics in predicting survival outcomes in BRCA patients. The signature effectively stratified BRCA patients into high- and low-risk groups and showed potential in predicting the response to immunotherapy. Notably, significant differences were observed in immune cell abundance between the two groups. In vitro experiments demonstrated that POLQ knockdown significantly reduced the viability, proliferation, and invasion capacity of MDA-MB-231 or HCC1806 cells.ConclusionOur 4-BRG signature has the potential as an independent biomarker for predicting prognosis and treatment response in BRCA patients, complementing existing clinicopathological characteristics.

ABSTRACTAn intraguild predator–prey model including prey refuge and hunting cooperation is investigated in this paper. First, for the corresponding ordinary differential equation model, the existence and stability of all equilibria are given, and the existence of Hopf bifurcation, direction and stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are investigated. Then, for partial differential equation model, the diffusion-driven Turing instability is obtained. What is more, the existence and non-existence of the non-constant positive steady state of the reaction–diffusion model are established by the Leray–Schauder degree theory and some priori estimates. Next, some numerical simulations are performed to support analytical results. The results showed that prey refuge can change the stability of model and even have a stabilizing effect on this model, meanwhile the hunting cooperation can make such model without diffusion unstable, but make such model with diffusion stable. Lastly, a brief conclusion is concluded in the last section.

Organic-inorganic halide perovskite, as a low-cost, solution-processable material with remarkable optoelectronic properties, is ideal candidate to fabricate high-performance photodetectors and is expected to significantly reduce device costs. Compared to the common Dion-Jacobson and Ruddlesden-Popper two-dimensional (2D) layered hybrid perovskite compounds, the perovskites with alternating cations in the interlayer (ACI) phase show higher crystal symmetry and narrower optical bandgaps, which exhibit great potential for excellent photodetection performance. Herein, we report a high-performance photodetector based on the 2D bilayered hybrid lead halide perovskite single crystal with the ACI phase (GAMA2Pb2I7; GA = C(NH2)3 and MA = CH3NH3). The single-crystal photodetector exhibits high photoresponsivity of 1.56, 2.54, and 2.60 A/W for incident light wavelengths of 405, 532, and 635 nm under 9.82 nW, respectively, together with the correspondingly high detectivity values of 1.86 × 1012, 3.04 × 1012, and 3.11 × 1012 Jones under the same operating conditions. Meanwhile, a high-resolution imaging sensor is built based on the GAMA2Pb2I7 single-crystal photodetector, confirming the high stability and photosensitivity of the imaging system. These results show that the 2D hybrid lead halide perovskites with alternating interlayer cations are promising for high-performance visible light photodetectors and imaging systems.

In this paper, we carry out some research on a predator–prey system with maturation delay, a stage structure for generalist predators and a Holling type-II functional response, which has already been proposed. First, for the delayed model, we obtain the conditions for the occurrence of stability switches of the positive equilibrium and possible Hopf bifurcation values owing to the growth of the value of the delay by applying the geometric criterion. It should be pointed out that when we suppose that the characteristic equation has a pair of imaginary roots λ=±iω(ω>0), we just need to consider iω(ω>0) due to the symmetry, which alleviates the computation requirements. Next, we investigate the nature of Hopf bifurcation. Finally, we conduct numerical simulations to verify the correctness of our findings.

In this paper, a delayed prey-predator eco-epidemiological model with the nonlinear media is considered. First, the positivity and boundedness of solutions are given. Then, the basic reproductive number is showed, and the local stability of the trivial equilibrium and the disease-free equilibrium are discussed. Next, by taking the infection delay as a parameter, the conditions of the stability switches are given due to stability switching criteria, which concludes that the delay can generate instability and oscillation of the population through Hopf bifurcation. Further, by using normal form theory and center manifold theory, some explicit expressions determining direction of Hopf bifurcation and stability of periodic solutions are obtained. What's more, the correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified by numerical simulation, and the biological explanations are also given. Last, the main conclusions are included in the end.

Abstract Chemical bonds, including covalent and ionic bonds, endow semiconductors with stable electronic configurations but also impose constraints on their synthesis and lattice-mismatched heteroepitaxy. Here, the unique multi-scale van der Waals (vdWs) interactions are explored in one-dimensional tellurium (Te) systems to overcome these restrictions, enabled by the vdWs bonds between Te atomic chains and the spontaneous misfit relaxation at quasi-vdWs interfaces. Wafer-scale Te vdWs nanomeshes composed of self-welding Te nanowires are laterally vapor grown on arbitrary surfaces at a low temperature of 100 °C, bringing greater integration freedoms for enhanced device functionality and broad applicability. The prepared Te vdWs nanomeshes can be patterned at the microscale and exhibit high field-effect hole mobility of 145 cm2/Vs, ultrafast photoresponse below 3 μs in paper-based infrared photodetectors, as well as controllable electronic structure in mixed-dimensional heterojunctions. All these device metrics of Te vdWs nanomesh electronics are promising to meet emerging technological demands.

The performances of rechargeable batteries are detrimentally affected by low temperatures (e.g., < 0 °C). Here, the authors report a few-layer Bi2Se3 material capable of improving battery cycling performances when operational temperatures are shifted from +25 °C to −20 °C.

Halide perovskites have attracted significant recent attention due to their remarkable photoelectric properties; however, the poor structural and moisture stability limit their use for practical utilization. Interestingly, binary halides, such as BiI3 and PbI2, are the typical constituents of halide perovskites, where they do not only have the similar outstanding properties of perovskites but also the superior stability. Herein, the synthesis of layered BiI3 and PbI2 microcrystals by simple drop‐casting is investigated and their enhanced photoelectric performance compared to the thin‐film counterparts obtained by conventional spin‐coating is demonstrated. For the formation of high‐quality layered microcrystals, the keys are adopting glycol as a green solvent and appropriate temperature during processing. Once configured into photodetectors, the BiI3 and PbI2 microcrystals exhibit a higher photocurrent, on/off current ratio, responsivity, and other performance parameters than their thin‐film devices. These improved performances of microcrystals can be attributed to their superior crystallinity, thanks to the excellent solvent properties of glycol and the optimal growth temperature chosen. This work proposes a more simple and effective solution processing technique to fabricate layered binary halides with higher quality than the conventional spin‐coating method, enabling the further development of halides‐based optoelectronic devices.
