Students’ physical issues have been increased due to restrictions which further impact their psychological and overall well-being.Objective: The research looks at the influence of coping behavior in mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on students’ physical/psychological health and general well-being.Methods: The study’s participants were chosen from a pool of 2200 people using convenience sampling. Using an anonymous online poll, the main data were gathered. The collected data were analyzed by using Smart-PLS.Results: From eight direct correlations, seven were found to be true, except the route pandemic -> overall wellbeing, which was not true. Furthermore, it was shown that the mediating effect of coping behavior was statistically significant in the routes of mediation.Conclusion: Coping strategies have a significant role in how a person responds to trying circumstances. Our study’s results suggest that coping strategies had a statistically significant mediation role in reducing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is concluded that appropriate coping strategies are an effective adaptation of a protective barrier against the damaging effects of COVID-19 on health.Keywords: coping behavior, pandemic, students, physical health, psychological health

Anxiety, phobias, distress, disordered eating, drug addiction, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychosis, depression, and autism spectrum disorders may benefit from virtual reality-based approaches. The 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has impacted the way we live, enjoy, study, sport, and socialize significantly. Virtual reality fitness technology gained much attention during the COVID-19 preventive measures time.Objective: The present study explores the role of virtual reality fitness in improving overall wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic home isolation period in terms of physical-psychological health and physical activity.Methods: A total of 2300 individuals were recruited using the snowball sampling technique to participate in the study. The primary data were collected using an anonymous web-based survey. SPSS-23 and Smart-PLS 3.2.9 software were used to analyze the data.Results: The direct path coefficient analysis of the study constructs show that virtual reality fitness has (preventive measures -> virtual reality fitness -> overall wellbeing, preventive measures -> virtual reality fitness -> physical exercise, and preventive measures -> virtual reality fitness -> physical health) profound effects on the research participants’ mental and physical wellbeing of the study participants while indirect mediation analysis shows that virtual reality fitness has (preventive measures -> virtual reality fitness ->overall wellbeing, preventive measures -> virtual reality fitness -> physical exercise, preventive measures -> virtual reality fitness ->physical health) significant impacts.Conclusion: Our study results concluded that house exercises through virtual reality fitness are a good substitute for public gyms and private group fitness programs during the first pandemic wave for physical-psychological and overall wellbeing. Virtual reality fitness technology can alleviate many of the challenges brought on by the epidemic, resulting in increased utilization.Keywords: COVID-19, virtual reality fitness, lockdown, psychological and physical health, overall wellbeing

Abstract

Recently, Tsallis, R\'{e}nyi and Sharma-Mitall and entropies have widely been used to study the gravitational and cosmological setups. We consider a flat FRW universe with linear interaction between dark energy and dark matter. We discuss the dark energy models using Tsallis, R\'{e}nyi and Sharma-Mitall entropies in the framework of Chern-Simons modified gravity. We explore various cosmological parameters (equation of state parameter, squared sound of speed ) and cosmological plane ($\omega_{d}-\omega_{d}'$, where $\omega_{d}'$, is the evolutionary equation of state parameter). It is observed that the equation of state parameter gives quintessence-like nature of the universe in most of the cases. Also, the squared speed of sound shows stability of the models for Tsallis, R\'{e}nyi dark energy model while unstable behavior for Sharma-Mitall dark energy model. The $\omega_{d}-\omega_{d}'$ plane represents the thawing region for all dark energy models., Comment: 19 pages, 9 figures, to appear in AHEP

Abstract

The global demand for freshwater increased keep interest in water desalination technology. In recent past, solar thermal desalination emerged as a promising technique to water desalination. This review provides an extensive analysis of various solar thermal desalination techniques, including steam generation systems, their mechanisms, structures, and the role of different nanomaterials in enhancing desalination efficiency. We critically analyzed recent studies, focusing on process performance, benefits, limitations, economic viability, and environmental impact. The advantages of solar thermal desalination, such as sustainability, renewability, fossil fuel independence, decentralized water production, and suitability for remote locations, are discussed. We also discussed the materials for desalination based on material's water-transport capability, salt resistance, photothermal conversion efficiency and. Additionally, we provided insights into design principles and thermal management to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure sustainable freshwater production. This review will provide a guideline facilitate the development of sustainable solar thermal desalination technologies by utilizing existing knowledge and identifying research gaps, promoting the integration of renewable energy and water production for a resilient, water-secure future.

Abstract

High dielectric constant materials are of particular current interests as indispensable components in transistors, capacitors, etc. In this context, there are emerging trends to exploit defect engineering in dielectric ceramics for enhancing the performance. However, demonstrations of similar high dielectric performance in integration-compatible crystalline films are rare. Herein, such a breakthrough via the functionalization of donor–acceptor dipoles by compositional tuning in GaCu codoped ZnO films is reported. The dielectric constant reaches ~200 at 1 kHz and the optical transmittance in visible light reaches ~80%. Importantly, by analyzing the impedance spectroscopy data, prominent relaxation mechanisms in correlation with the dipole properties, enabling consistent explanations of the dielectric constant as a function of frequency are discriminated. The atomistic nature of the dipoles is revealed by the systematic X-ray spectroscopy analysis. Spectacularly, similar trends for the dielectric properties are observed, while synthesizing samples by pulsed laser deposition and ion implantation, indicating the general character of the phenomena.

Abstract

The influence of adding strontium to Cu-doped TiO2 nanotubes (TNT) on the photocatalytic performance of the resulting materials was herein studied considering changes in structural, textural, optical and morphological properties. Results emphasize that up to a Sr loading of 0.8 wt%, the addition of Sr results in in situ formation of Sr-O-Ti entities on the surface of Cu-doped TNT. A direct correlation was observed between the optimized formation of surface Sr-O-Ti entities and an enhanced photocatalytic response due to improved stabilization of photogenerated charges on 0.5Cu-TiNT resulting from the ferroelectric interference of neighbouring SrTiO3 entities. Finally, ferroelectric enhancement of the photocatalytic response induced by Sr was confirmed on similar systems containing graphene oxide.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL) algorithms are currently applied to a wide range of products and solutions. DL training jobs are highly resource demanding and they experience great benefits when exploiting AI accelerators (e.g., GPUs). However, the effective management of GPU-powered clusters comes with great challenges. Among these, efficient scheduling and resource allocation solutions are crucial to maximize performance and minimize Data Centers operational costs. In this paper we propose ANDREAS, an advanced scheduling solution that tackles these problems jointly, aiming at optimizing DL training runtime workloads and their energy consumption in accelerated clusters. Experiments based on simulation demostrate that we can achieve a cost reduction between 30 and 62% on average with respect to first-principle methods while the validation on a real cluster shows a worst case deviation below 13% between actual and predicted costs, proving the effectiveness of ANDREAS solution in practical scenarios.
