Highlights: This study introduces an innovative 3D-printed electrolyte with vertically aligned ion transport network, which contains well-dispersed nanoscale Ta-doped Li7La3Zr2O12 in a poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate matrix. The 3DSE architecture enables efficient ion transport across the Li/electrolyte and electrolyte/cathode interfaces, which allows for increased active material mass loading and enhanced interfacial adhesion. The p-3DSE Li symmetric cell displays an impressive critical current density value of 1.92 mA cm−2 and stable operation for 2600 h at room temperature. Full cells using p-3DSE achieve notable areal capacities. Improving the long-term cycling stability and energy density of all-solid-state lithium (Li)-metal batteries (ASSLMBs) at room temperature is a severe challenge because of the notorious solid–solid interfacial contact loss and sluggish ion transport. Solid electrolytes are generally studied as two-dimensional (2D) structures with planar interfaces, showing limited interfacial contact and further resulting in unstable Li/electrolyte and cathode/electrolyte interfaces. Herein, three-dimensional (3D) architecturally designed composite solid electrolytes are developed with independently controlled structural factors using 3D printing processing and post-curing treatment. Multiple-type electrolyte films with vertical-aligned micro-pillar (p-3DSE) and spiral (s-3DSE) structures are rationally designed and developed, which can be employed for both Li metal anode and cathode in terms of accelerating the Li+ transport within electrodes and reinforcing the interfacial adhesion. The printed p-3DSE delivers robust long-term cycle life of up to 2600 cycles and a high critical current density of 1.92 mA cm−2. The optimized electrolyte structure could lead to ASSLMBs with a superior full-cell areal capacity of 2.75 mAh cm−2 (LFP) and 3.92 mAh cm−2 (NCM811). This unique design provides enhancements for both anode and cathode electrodes, thereby alleviating interfacial degradation induced by dendrite growth and contact loss. In order to improve the interfacial strength and toughness of aluminum alloys and CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastics) hybrid laminates, modified resin with lower porosity was prepared by adding nano silica treated with silane coupling agent into epoxy resin. Al/CFRP hybrid laminates with modified resin were prepared by physical liquid deposition method and hot-press process. The strength and toughness of Al/CFRP hybrid laminates with modified resin were evaluated by tensile shear test and end notch fracture (ENF) test. The experimental results showed that the interfacial shear strength of Al/CFRP hybrid modified resin laminates is 18.8 ± 0.8 MPa and the fracture energy is 1546.33 ± 10.26 J /m2, which is 28.76 % and 15.38 % higher than that of Al/CFRP hybrid laminates with raw resin, respectively. The well-dispersed silicon nanoparticles effectively mitigate internal stress during the cross-linking process of the modified resin, thereby diminishing the dimensions of microcracks within the modified resin. The transition layer of the modified resin interface formed a cooperative and smooth structure. This structure can ensure that the transition of elements in the interface layer is smooth, and it is not easy to cause stress concentration. The formation of new bonds (C-Si bonds) at the interface of the modified resin indicates an enhancement of bonding strength at the interface, superimposing upon van der Waals forces, thereby enhancing the adhesive strength of the modified resin interface. The biomimetic interface of Al/CFRP hybrid composite material was obtained by combining laser surface treatment and hot-pressing process. The experimental results showed that the tensile shear strength and fracture energy of the biomimetic interface were 44.5 MPa and 1652 J/m2, which were 224% and 72.6% higher than those of the untreated interface. The new C-O-Al chemical bond was formed at the biomimetic interface, which replaced the van der Waals force and improved the interface strength. The transition layer of the biomimetic interface can effectively delay the transmission of cracks at the interface. The finite element results showed that the stress distribution of biomimetic interface was uniform and stress concentration was not obvious. The strengthening and toughening effect of the interface is mainly due to the pinning effect of mechanical interlocking of the interface and the behavior of crack deflection of the transition layer. • A bionic interface of Al/CFRP hybrid composite was manufactured through hot press forming and laser surface treatment. • Beetle elytra-inspired barb connection structure endow the interface with superior strength and fracture toughness. • The new C-O-Al chemical bond at the bionic interface improves the strength of the interface. • The transition layer of bionic interface can greatly buffer the impact force of the interface. Composite materials are more and more widely used in the automotive industry with the increasing requirements of lightweight design. In order to obtain automotive parts with excellent comprehensive mechanical properties, the 7075-T6 aluminum alloy was integrated with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) by using thermoforming process. The influence of four forming methods on the forming process, forming accuracy, and interface bonding strength was studied in this work. A finite element model based on cohesion and forming was established to study the integrated thermoforming and properties prediction of Al/CFRP hybrid composites. The results showed that forming CFRP and unformed 7075 Al aluminum alloy sheet together required higher forming energy and the formed parts had higher Mises stresses. When the CFRP was located below 7075 aluminum alloy sheet, the uneven stress distribution due to the severe deformation of the resin resulted in the worst forming accuracy. For all four processes, the thickness of the formed parts decreased at the round corners and side wall area, increased at the flange area, and changed little at bottom surface. The thickness distribution of the formed part depends on the deformation process and the contact pressure between the tools and the blank. Greater contact pressure resulted in greater thinning rate. For the processes of preformed 7075 aluminum alloy, although less forming force was needed, the interface debonding risk between 7075 aluminum alloy and CFRP might arise due to the small contact pressure. Highlights This article proposes a 6061‐T6 Al alloy and carbon fiber hybrid composite material pre‐curing and forming integrated new process, which can significantly reduce the hybrid composite material processing time, improve the production efficiency, and provide the possibility of hybrid composite materials in automotive parts applications. The process started by placing hand‐stacked carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites on the surface of 6061 Al alloy sheets, followed by bonding and pre‐curing of the CFRP to the Al alloy sheets through two different sets of dies in a hydraulic press, and ultimately full curing in an aging furnace. Mechanical properties of the CFRP/Al hybrid composite material were measured by flexural tests. The results show that the flexural strength of CFRP/Al hybrid composites with different layups ([90]12, [0/45/90/−45]3, and [0]12) was increased by 159%, 93.4%, and 67.9%, respectively, compared with the single 6061 Al alloy. According to the macro‐morphological observation, [90]12 lay‐up parts have the least thinning. According to the microstructure observation, no obvious cracks or voids were found in the [90]12 lay‐up parts. Elongated cracks and void defects could be found in the [0]12 lay‐up parts. For the [0/45/90/−45]3 lay‐up parts, voids are mainly exist in ±45°layups. The results of the spring‐back analysis show that the standard deviation of the formed parts obtained from the three lay‐up methods is within 1 mm, indicating that the forming effect is good. A hybrid composite material was obtained by stacking carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) onto 7075‐W Al alloy sheet. Mechanical properties of the CFRP/Al hybrid composite material were measured by tensile and flexural tests. To investigate the flow of the epoxy, the thinning was measured using an optical microscope and the defects were observed by a scanning electron microscope. A finite element model was established to predict the thickness and the contact pressure distributions of the CFRP/Al hybrid composite material during the forming process. The results showed that the tensile strength (TS) of the CFRP/Al hybrid composite was increased by 10% and the fracture strain was increased by 24% compared with the single 7075 Al alloy. The flexural strength (FS) and the displacement of the loading nose were improved by 13% and 75%, respectively. According to the microstructure observation, large cracks in the epoxy could be found on the side wall of the U shape part. The results of numerical analysis indicated that the low contact pressure at side wall was the main reason for the decrease of the tensile and FS and the delamination between laminates. Graphene-based anodes have been broadly used in energy storage devices, in which introducing heteroatom to graphene can endow the pristine graphene with improved optical, physicochemical, structural, and electromagnetic properties, and integrating active anodes with graphene can compensate for the weakness of pristine materials and tailor the overall electrochemical performance. Remarkably, ball milling has been considered as a powerful mixing and exfoliation method for dealing with graphene materials in a high-efficient and large-scale way. By applying the ball milling technology, graphene doping and graphene compositing can be easily realized in a cost-effective and scalable manner. In this review, the current progress in doped graphene such as fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, nitrogen, and sulfur-doped graphene manufactured by ball milling are introduced and discussed in depth. Then, graphene-based composite anodes, such as graphene/silicon, graphene/silicon oxide, graphene/tin, graphene/silicon oxide, graphene/germanium, and graphene/iron oxide et al., are demonstrated by revealing their mechanisms for performance improvements. Finally, we present some challenges and potential directions of graphene-based anodes in the conclusion and outlook part. It is predicted that the mechanochemical ball milling technique will enormously facilitate the exploitation of advanced heteroatom-doped graphene and graphene composite anode materials in lithium-ion batteries. The metal and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) hybrid parts are increasingly used in automobile industry to meet the demand for vehicle weight reduction. The interface bond strength between metal and CFRP is the key to the part properties. The effects of different surface treatments on the interface bond strength of DP780 Steel/CFRP composite laminate based on hot-press curing integration were studied. Single lap test and single-leg bending (SLB) test were used to characterize the interface bond strength of the hybrid composite laminate. Interface failure mechanism was analyzed through surface roughness, fracture mode and fracture morphology. The experimental results showed that the steel surface treated by laser exhibited the highest surface roughness and the greatest surface energy in contrast to other surface treatments, such as degreasing, acid corrosion and grinding. The single lap test results showed that the laser-treated specimen had the maximum interface bond strength and there were a lot of fibers residues on the steel fracture surface. In SLB tests, there was no gap between the laser-treated steel and CFRP interface. The interface was bonded finely, which greatly improved the interface bond strength. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rapid identification of marine pathogens is very important in marine ecology. Artificial intelligence combined with Raman spectroscopy is a promising choice for identifying marine pathogens due to its rapidity and efficiency. However, considering the cost of sample collection and the challenging nature of the experimental environment, only limited spectra are typically available to build a classification model, which hinders qualitative analysis. In this paper, we propose a novel method to classify marine pathogens by means of Raman spectroscopy combined with generative adversarial networks (GANs). Three marine strains, namely, Staphylococcus hominis , Vibrio alginolyticus , and Bacillus licheniformis , were cultured. Using Raman spectroscopy, we acquired 100 spectra of each strain, and we fitted them into GAN models for training. After 30,000 training iterations, the spectra generated by G were similar to the actual spectra, and D was used to test the accuracy of the spectra. Our results demonstrate that our method not only improves the accuracy of machine learning classification but also solves the problem of requiring a large amount of training data. Moreover, we have attempted to find potential identifying regions in the Raman spectra that can be used for reference in subsequent related work in this field. Therefore, this method has tremendous potential to be developed as a tool for pathogen identification. Triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS), which have zero mean curvature and large surface areas, are discussed in this paper. Two TPMS structures, the Schwarz Primitive (P) and Gyroid, were designed with both uniform and graded density and fabricated using additive manufacturing (Stereolithography). The mechanical properties and energy absorption abilities of the printed TPMS samples were studied. The Schwarz P structure cracked layer by layer and exhibited obvious peak-valley stress feature during the compression test. The total absorbed energy to the densification point was 1.64 MJ/m3 and 2.47 MJ/m3 for the uniform and graded Schwarz P structures, respectively. There was little difference between the uniform and graded Gyroid samples, and only one structural crack appeared during the compression test. The total absorbed energy for the uniform and graded Gyroid structures was approximately 2.49 MJ/m3 and 2.51 MJ/m3, respectively. The results showed that the graded Schwarz P structure absorbed more energy during the compression tests, while energy absorbed in the graded Gyroid structure was close to the uniform Gyroid structure. Furthermore, the relationship between energy absorption and compressive stress was determined and the abnormal characteristics in Gyroid structures were deeply discussed. Liquid-phase hydrogen isotopes exchange between hydrogen and water is a promising route for the hydrogen isotopes separation from water, catalyzed by the metal Pt with hydrophobic coating to surmount the flooding of reactive sites. However, poor water activation ability on Pt has limited the catalytic efficiency of Pt-based catalysts and hindered their application. Herein, we report a bifunctional Pt/ZSM-5 catalyst with hydrophobic modification by surface silylation for H 2 -HDO isotope catalytic exchange. The integration of metallic Pt and Brønsted acid (BA) sites in the microporous ZSM-5 boosts the catalytic efficiency of deuterium extraction by two orders of magnitude compared to commercial Pt-C at the optimum condition. In-situ spectroscopic and theoretical studies demonstrated that HDO-H 2 O preferentially adsorbs on BA sites (-Si-OH-Al) to form protonated water clusters stabilized by hydrogen-bonded network or to undergo the proton exchange to leave deuterium on zeolite framework as a new acidic site ([AlO 4 D]). Under the attractive interaction, the dissociated hydrogen on Pt clusters releases partial electrons to form positively-charged hydrogen, which further transfers to the [AlO 4 D] sites or protonated water clusters by interfacial spillover to produce the overcharging intermediates. These intermediates cleave their O-D bonds to form positively charged D, which ultimately spills back to Pt cluster and combines with the remaining electron to desorb in the form of HD. The synergistic effect between Pt and BA sites creates a new pathway of hydrogen transfer, which enables the more efficient hydrogen-water isotope exchange on the bifunctional Pt/ZSM-5 catalyst. The high integration density of microelectronic devices leads to local heat accumulation, and effective heat dissipation and signal transmission of packaging materials have become the primary issues to be solved. However, existing polymer materials have difficulty meeting the requirements due to their unsatisfactory thermal conductivity and thermal expansion properties. In this work, we proposed the use of digital light processing (DLP) printing technology to construct a triply periodic minimum surface (TPMS) skeleton, and a continuous and efficient heat conduction path was successfully constructed in epoxy resin by impregnating h-BN on the skeleton surface. When the loading of h-BN was 20 vol%, the thermal conductivity of the TPMS(SiO 2)@BN/EP(BN) composites was 1.86 W/(m·K), which was 786 % higher than that of pure epoxy resin. In addition, the thermal expansion coefficient of the composites decreased by more than 70 %. At the test frequencies of 3∼10 MHz, the composites showed stable dielectric properties, and the dielectric constant was always maintained in a low range, between 3.85 and 4.15. This work has realized the transformation of the method for constructing a heat conduction path from disordered to ordered and from random to repeatable. The utilization of carbon resources stored in plastic polymers through chemical recycling and upcycling is a promising approach for mitigating plastic waste. However, most current methods for upcycling suffer from limited selectivity towards a specific valuable product, particularly when attempting full conversion of the plastic. We present a highly selective reaction route for transforming polylactic acid (PLA) into 1,2‐propanediol utilizing a Zn‐modified Cu catalyst. This reaction exhibits excellent reactivity (0.65 g gcat−1 h−1) and selectivity (99.5 %) towards 1,2‐propanediol, and most importantly, can be performed in a solvent‐free mode. Significantly, the overall solvent‐free reaction is an atom‐economical reaction with all the atoms in reactants (PLA and H2) fixed into the final product (1,2‐propanediol), eliminating the need for a separation process. This method provides an innovative and economically viable solution for upgrading polyesters to produce high‐purity products under mild conditions with optimal atom utilization. Background: Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is characterized by risk factors such as abdominal obesity, hypertriglyceridemia, low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), hypertension, and hyperglycemia, which contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Here, we aim to identify candidate metabolite biomarkers of MetS and its associated risk factors to better understand the complex interplay of underlying signaling pathways. Methods: We quantified serum samples of the KORA F4 study participants (N = 2815) and analyzed 121 metabolites. Multiple regression models adjusted for clinical and lifestyle covariates were used to identify metabolites that were Bonferroni significantly associated with MetS. These findings were replicated in the SHIP-TREND-0 study (N = 988) and further analyzed for the association of replicated metabolites with the five components of MetS. Database-driven networks of the identified metabolites and their interacting enzymes were also constructed. Results: We identified and replicated 56 MetS-specific metabolites: 13 were positively associated (e.g., Val, Leu/Ile, Phe, and Tyr), and 43 were negatively associated (e.g., Gly, Ser, and 40 lipids). Moreover, the majority (89%) and minority (23%) of MetS-specific metabolites were associated with low HDL-C and hypertension, respectively. One lipid, lysoPC a C18:2, was negatively associated with MetS and all of its five components, indicating that individuals with MetS and each of the risk factors had lower concentrations of lysoPC a C18:2 compared to corresponding controls. Our metabolic networks elucidated these observations by revealing impaired catabolism of branched-chain and aromatic amino acids, as well as accelerated Gly catabolism. Conclusion: Our identified candidate metabolite biomarkers are associated with the pathophysiology of MetS and its risk factors. They could facilitate the development of therapeutic strategies to prevent type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. For instance, elevated levels of lysoPC a C18:2 may protect MetS and its five risk components. Electrically assisted water splitting is an endurable strategy for hydrogen production, but the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) extremely restrict the large‐scale production of hydrogen. Developing highly efficient and non‐precious catalytic materials is essential to accelerate the sluggish kinetics of OER. However, currently used catalyst supports, such as copper foam, suffer from inferior corrosion resistance and structural stability, resulting in the disabled functionality of 3D conductive networks. To this end, a novel 3D freestanding electrode with corrosion‐resistant and robust Ti–6Al–4V titanium alloy lattice as the catalyst support is designed via a 3D printing technology of selective laser melting. After the coating of core–shell Cu(OH)2@CoNi carbonate hydroxides (CoNiCH) on the designed lattice, a unique micro/nano‐sized hierarchical porous structure is formed, which endows the electrocatalyst with a promising electrocatalytic activity (a low overpotential of 355 mV at 30 mA cm−2 and Tafel slope of 125.3 mV dec−1). Computational results indicate that the CoNiCH exhibits optimized electron transfer and the catalytic activity of the Ni site is higher than that of the Co site in the CoNiCH. Combining a Sodium-Glucose-Cotransporter-2-inhibitor (SGLT2i) with metformin is recommended for managing hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) who have cardio-renal complications. Our study aimed to investigate the metabolic effects of SGLT2i and metformin, both individually and synergistically. We treated leptin receptor-deficient (db/db) mice with these drugs for two weeks and conducted metabolite profiling, identifying 861 metabolites across kidney, liver, muscle, fat, and plasma. Using linear regression and mixed-effects models, we identified two SGLT2i-specific metabolites, X-12465 and 3-hydroxybutyric acid (3HBA), a ketone body, across all examined tissues. The levels of 3HBA were significantly higher under SGLT2i monotherapy compared to controls and were attenuated when combined with metformin. We observed similar modulatory effects on metabolites involved in protein catabolism (e.g., branched-chain amino acids) and gluconeogenesis. Moreover, combination therapy significantly raised pipecolate levels, which may enhance mTOR1 activity, while modulating GSK3, a common target of SGLT2i and 3HBA inhibition. The combination therapy also led to significant reductions in body weight and lactate levels, contrasted with monotherapies. The fabrication of barium titanate (BaTiO 3) lead-free piezoelectric ceramics using additive manufacturing technology, especially digital light processing (DLP), has been gaining a growing interest for electrical applications. The particle size of the ceramic powders plays a key factor on the performance of sintered ceramic components. In this paper, BaTiO 3 ceramic components were fabricated by adopting different suspensions filled with the submicron powder particle size of 200 nm, 500 nm and 600 nm, respectively. Subsequently, the effects of particle size on the rheological properties and photopolymerization behaviors of the suspensions, as well as the density, grain size, piezoelectric and dielectric properties of the ceramic components, were investigated. The result indicated that the suspensions with the coarsest powder showed the lowest viscosity and the highest cure depth; when the grain size distributed in submicron range, the piezoelectric constant (d 33) and relative permittivity (ε r) of sintered BaTiO 3 ceramic are direct positively correlated to the grain size. The value of ε r and d 33 were related with domain structure affected by grain size. This work can provide a potential valuable guidance for researchers in selecting suitable BaTiO 3 powders to obtain high-performance piezoelectric ceramic components when using the DLP process.
