Abstract

In this study, we propose two strategies to determine complex refractive indexes along armchair and zigzag axes for BP flakes, aiming in predicting angle-resolved polarized Raman (ARPR) intensity by explicitly considering birefringence, linear dichroism, and anisotropic cavity interference effects within multilayered structures. By leveraging this methodology, we have identified the intrinsic complex Raman tensors for phonon modes of BP flakes, independent of BP flake thickness (>20 nm). We also elucidated the flake thickness-dependent effective complex Raman tensor elements, allowing for precise prediction of the observed ARPR intensity profile for specific BP flake. This framework can be extended to other ALM flakes deposited on dielectric substrate to determine the Raman tensors for fully predicting their ARPR response., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

High-resolution dynamic X-ray detector is crucial for time-resolved digital radiography (DR) imaging and fast 3D medical computed tomography (CT) imaging. Recently, perovskites have become promising alternatives to conventional semi-conductor materials, e.g., Si, a-Se and CdTe, for direct X-ray detection. However, the feasibility of their combination with high-speed pixelated complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) arrays remains unknown. This work originally reports an innovative direct-conversion X-ray detector fabricated with 300 micrometer thick inorganic perovskite film printed on a tailored CMOS array. In-house measurements demonstrate that the CsPbBr3 film has excellent optoelectric properties of an electron mobility-lifetime product of 3.40x10$^{-5}$ cm$^2$ V$^{-1}$, and the X-ray detector exhibits high sensitivity of 9341uC Gy$_{\rm air}^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$, and low detection limit of 588 nGy$_{\rm air}^{-1}$. This CMOS X-ray imaging detector achieves a high spatial resolution up to 5.5 lp/mm (close to the resolution limit of 6.0 lp/mm), and >300 frame per second (fps) readout speed. DR image of a resolution pattern phantom and a anesthesia mice, CT images of a biological specimen are acquired for the first time.

9. Association between single-point insulin sensitivity estimator and heart failure in older adults: A cross-sectional study

Abstract

Background: Heart failure (HF) is a condition caused by a malfunction of the heart's pumping function. The single-point insulin sensitivity estimator (SPISE) index is a novel indicator for assessing insulin resistance in humans. However, the connection between the SPISE index and the risk of HF in the elderly is unknown. Therefore, our study aims to evaluate the connection between the SPISE index and HF in older adults. Methods: The study was based on data collected from the 1999–2020 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database and included 6165 participants aged ≥60 years. The multivariable linear regression model and the smooth fitting curve model were applied to investigate the connection between the SPISE index and HF in the elderly. Furthermore, the subgroup analysis was performed to investigate the interactive factors. Results: In this study, the mean age of the population was 69.38 years. Abstract

Abstract Background Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a widely occurring vaginal inflammation in women of childbearing age caused by dysbiosis of the vaginal flora. Few studies have investigated the effect of serum carotenoids on the development and pathogenesis of BV. This study thus aimed to explore the correlation between serum carotenoids and BV in American women. Method The analysis included 1252 participants with BV from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 2001 and 2004. Multiple logistic regression was conducted to explore the correlation between BV and serum carotenoids, while smooth curve fitting was utilized to examine potential nonlinear correlations. Furthermore, stratified subgroup analyses and sensitivity analyses were conducted. ORs reflected the correlation between BV and serum carotenoids. Result Results of multiple logistic regression indicated that total serum carotenoids and BV had an inverse correlation. In the fully adjusted model II, the quartile with the highest levels of α-carotene and β-cryptoxanthin had a substantially lower incidence of BV. Smooth curve fitting revealed a significant negative linear correlation between serum carotenoids and the incidence of BV. The negative correlation between serum carotenoids and BV was relatively stable in stratified analyses. Moreover, in sensitivity analyses, the association between serum carotenoids and BV persisted, and β-carotene became significantly negatively correlated with BV. Conclusion This study found an inverse correlation between serum carotenoids and the prevalence of BV.

Abstract

The selection rule for angle-resolved polarized Raman (ARPR) intensity of phonons from standard group-theoretical method in isotropic materials would break down in anisotropic layered materials (ALMs) due to birefringence and linear dichroism effects. The two effects result in depth-dependent polarization and intensity of incident laser and scattered signal inside ALMs and thus make a challenge to predict ARPR intensity at any laser incidence direction. Herein, taking in-plane anisotropic black phosphorus as a prototype, we developed a so-called birefringence-linear-dichroism (BLD) model to quantitatively understand its ARPR intensity at both normal and oblique laser incidences by the same set of real Raman tensors for certain laser excitation. No fitting parameter is needed, once the birefringence and linear dichroism effects are considered with the complex refractive indexes. An approach was proposed to experimentally determine real Raman tensor and complex refractive indexes, respectively, from the relative Raman intensity along its principle axes and incident-angle resolved reflectivity by Fresnel$'$s law. The results suggest that the previously reported ARPR intensity of ultrathin ALM flakes deposited on a multilayered substrate at normal laser incidence can be also understood based on the BLD model by considering the depth-dependent polarization and intensity of incident laser and scattered Raman signal induced by both birefringence and linear dichroism effects within ALM flakes and the interference effects in the multilayered structures, which are dependent on the excitation wavelength, thickness of ALM flakes and dielectric layers of the substrate. Abstract

The Yellow River Delta adjacent to the Bohai Sea is located in the monsoon region of northern China, which is sensitive to global climate change. The core data of KY-01 borehole in the Yellow River Delta and the published records were used to reconstruct the climate environment. Based on the analysis of carbonate content, magnetic susceptibility, Ostracoda, foraminifera, sporopollenin and AMS 14C dating on the KY-01 borehole sediment core, the evolution of both the climate and sedimentary environment has been discussed. The results show that: 7656–4145 cal.aBP, seawater moved toward the land surface and the climate was generally warm and humid, when there were small-scale extreme climate fluctuations; 4145–2544 cal.aBP, transgression and recession occurred, the climate changed from warm-wet to dry-cold and there were small-scale extreme climatic events; and 2544 cal.aBP–1855 AD, the sea level was relatively low, transgression and retreat alternately occurred, the climate was drier and colder than the previous stage and the warming and cooling alternated. During the middle Holocene, cold-dry events occurred between 5737–5422 and 4451–4081 cal.aBP, which is consistent with both Chinese and worldwide climate records.
