Long-term causal effect estimation is a significant but challenging problem in many applications. Existing methods rely on ideal assumptions to estimate long-term average effects, e.g., no unobserved confounders or a binary treatment,while in numerous real-world applications, these assumptions could be violated and average effects are unable to provide individual-level suggestions.In this paper,we address a more general problem of estimating the long-term heterogeneous dose-response curve (HDRC) while accounting for unobserved confounders. Specifically, to remove unobserved confounding in observational data, we introduce an optimal transport weighting framework to align the observational data to the experimental data with theoretical guarantees. Furthermore,to accurately predict the heterogeneous effects of continuous treatment, we establish a generalization bound on counterfactual prediction error by leveraging the reweighted distribution induced by optimal transport. Finally, we develop an HDRC estimator building upon the above theoretical foundations. Extensive experimental studies conducted on multiple synthetic and semi-synthetic datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

Recent advancements in 3D reconstruction from single images have been driven by the evolution of generative models. Prominent among these are methods based on Score Distillation Sampling (SDS) and the adaptation of diffusion models in the 3D domain. Despite their progress, these techniques often face limitations due to slow optimization or rendering processes, leading to extensive training and optimization times. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for single-view reconstruction that efficiently generates a 3D model from a single image via feed-forward inference. Our method utilizes two transformer-based networks, namely a point decoder and a triplane decoder, to reconstruct 3D objects using a hybrid Triplane-Gaussian intermediate representation. This hybrid representation strikes a balance, achieving a faster rendering speed compared to implicit representations while simultaneously delivering superior rendering quality than explicit representations. The point decoder is designed for generating point clouds from single images, offering an explicit representation which is then utilized by the triplane decoder to query Gaussian features for each point. This design choice addresses the challenges associated with directly regressing explicit 3D Gaussian attributes characterized by their non-structural nature. Subsequently, the 3D Gaussians are decoded by an MLP to enable rapid rendering through splatting. Both decoders are built upon a scalable, transformer-based architecture and have been efficiently trained on large-scale 3D datasets. The evaluations conducted on both synthetic datasets and real-world images demonstrate that our method not only achieves higher quality but also ensures a faster runtime in comparison to previous state-of-the-art techniques. Large-scale centralized development of wind and solar energy and peer-to-grid transmission of renewable energy source (RES) via high voltage direct current (HVDC) has been regarded as one of the most promising ways to achieve goals of peak carbon and carbon neutrality in China. Traditionally, large-scale thermal generation is needed to economically support the load demand of HVDC with a given profile, which in turn raises concerns about carbon emissions. To address the issues above, hydrogen energy storage system (HESS) and ammonia energy storage system (AESS) are introduced to gradually replace thermal generation, which is represented as a multi-stage expansion planning (MSEP) problem. Specifically, first, HESS and AESS are established in the MSEP model with carbon emission reduction constraints, and yearly data with hourly time resolution are utilized for each stage to well describe the intermittence of RES. Then, a combined Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition (DWD) and column generation (CG) solution approach is proposed to efficiently solve the large-scale MSEP model. Finally, a real-life system in China is studied. The results indicate that HESS and AESS have the potential to handle the intermittence of RES, as well as the monthly imbalance between RES and load demand. Especially under the goal of carbon neutrality, the contribution of HESS and AESS in reducing levelized cost of energy (LCOE) reaches 12.28% and 14.59%, respectively, which finally leads to a LCOE of 0.4324 RMB/kWh., Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures

Denoising diffusion models have shown remarkable potential in various generation tasks. The open-source large-scale text-to-image model, Stable Diffusion, becomes prevalent as it can generate realistic artistic or facial images with personalization through fine-tuning on a limited number of new samples. However, this has raised privacy concerns as adversaries can acquire facial images online and fine-tune text-to-image models for malicious editing, leading to baseless scandals, defamation, and disruption to victims' lives. Prior research efforts have focused on deriving adversarial loss from conventional training processes for facial privacy protection through adversarial perturbations. However, existing algorithms face two issues: 1) they neglect the image-text fusion module, which is the vital module of text-to-image diffusion models, and 2) their defensive performance is unstable against different attacker prompts. In this paper, we propose the Adversarial Decoupling Augmentation Framework (ADAF), addressing these issues by targeting the image-text fusion module to enhance the defensive performance of facial privacy protection algorithms. ADAF introduces multi-level text-related augmentations for defense stability against various attacker prompts. Concretely, considering the vision, text, and common unit space, we propose Vision-Adversarial Loss, Prompt-Robust Augmentation, and Attention-Decoupling Loss. Isolated renewable power to ammonia (IRePtA) has been recognized as a promising way to decarbonize the chemical industry. Optimal sizing of the renewable power system is significant to improve the techno-economic of IRePtA since the investment of power sources exceeds 80\% of the total investment. However, multi-timescale electricity, hydrogen, and ammonia storages, minimum power supply for system safety, and the multi-year uncertainty of renewable generation lead to difficulties in planning. To address the issues above, an IGDT-MILFP model is proposed. First, the levelized cost of ammonia (LCOA) is directly formulated as the objective, rendering a mixed integer linear fractional programming (MILFP) problem. Information gap decision theory (IGDT) is utilized to handle the multi-year uncertainty of renewable generation. Second, a combined Charnes-Cooper (C&C) transformation and Branch-and-Bound (B&B) method is proposed to efficiently solve the large-scale IGDT-MILFP model, giving robust and opportunistic planning results. Then, Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling-based posteriori analysis is leveraged to quantify the long-run performance. Finally, a real-life system in Inner Mongolia, China, is studied. The results indicate that the proposed methods could reduce the computational burden by orders of magnitude for solving a large-scale MILFP problem. Renewable power to ammonia (RePtA) is a prominent zero-carbon pathway for decarbonization. Due to the imbalance between renewables and production energy demand, the RePtA system relies on the electricity exchange with the power grid. Participating in the electricity market as a virtual power plant (VPP) may help to reduce energy costs. However, the power profile of local photovoltaics and wind turbines is similar to those in the market, resulting in rising energy costs under the conventional strategy. Hence, we develop a multi-timescale trading strategy for the RePtA VPP in the electricity, hydrogen, and ammonia markets. By utilizing the hydrogen and ammonia buffer systems, the RePtA VPP can optimally coordinate production planning. Moreover, we find it possible to describe the trading of electricity, ammonia, and hydrogen in a unified framework. The two-stage robust optimization model of the electricity market is extended to multiple markets and solved by the column and constraint generation (CC\&G) algorithm. The case is derived from an actual project in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Sensitivity analysis demonstrates the economic advantages of an RePtA VPP joining multiple markets over conventional strategy and reveals the necessity of the hydrogen and ammonia buffer and reactor's flexibility.

We construct the first markerless deformable interaction dataset recording interactive motions of the hands and deformable objects, called HMDO (Hand Manipulation with Deformable Objects). With our built multi-view capture system, it captures the deformable interactions with multiple perspectives, various object shapes, and diverse interactive forms. Our motivation is the current lack of hand and deformable object interaction datasets, as 3D hand and deformable object reconstruction is challenging. Mainly due to mutual occlusion, the interaction area is difficult to observe, the visual features between the hand and the object are entangled, and the reconstruction of the interaction area deformation is difficult. To tackle this challenge, we propose a method to annotate our captured data. Our key idea is to collaborate with estimated hand features to guide the object global pose estimation, and then optimize the deformation process of the object by analyzing the relationship between the hand and the object. Through comprehensive evaluation, the proposed method can reconstruct interactive motions of hands and deformable objects with high quality. HMDO currently consists of 21600 frames over 12 sequences. In the future, this dataset could boost the research of learning-based reconstruction of deformable interaction scenes.

Converting renewable energy into ammonia has been recognized as a promising way to realize ``green hydrogen substitution" in the chemical industry. However, renewable power to ammonia (RePtA) requires an essential investment in facilities to provide a buffer against the strong volatility of renewable energy and the limited flexibility of ammonia synthesis, which involves the three main stakeholders, namely, power, hydrogen, and ammonia. Therefore, the sizing and pricing of RePtA play a core role in balancing the interest demands of investors. This paper proposes an optimal sizing and pricing method for RePtA system planning. First, power to ammonia (P2A) is modeled as a flexible load, especially considering the limited flexibility of ammonia synthesis, which has been verified using real dynamic regulation data. Second, the multi-investor economic (MIE) model is established considering both external and internal trading modes. Then, a two-stage decomposed sizing and pricing method is proposed to solve the problem caused by the strong coupling of planning, operation, and trading, and information gap decision theory (IGDT) method is utilized to handle the uncertainty of renewable generation. Finally, real data from a real-life system in Inner Mongolia are utilized to verify the proposed approach. Face recognition has recently become ubiquitous in many scenes for authentication or security purposes. Meanwhile, there are increasing concerns about the privacy of face images, which are sensitive biometric data that should be carefully protected. Software-based cryptosystems are widely adopted nowadays to encrypt face images, but the security level is limited by insufficient digital secret key length or computing power. Hardware-based optical cryptosystems can generate enormously longer secret keys and enable encryption at light speed, but most reported optical methods, such as double random phase encryption, are less compatible with other systems due to system complexity. In this study, a plain yet high-efficient speckle-based optical cryptosystem is proposed and implemented. A scattering ground glass is exploited to generate physical secret keys of gigabit length and encrypt face images via seemingly random optical speckles at light speed. Face images can then be decrypted from the random speckles by a well-trained decryption neural network, such that face recognition can be realized with up to 98% accuracy. The proposed cryptosystem has wide applicability, and it may open a new avenue for high-security complex information encryption and decryption by utilizing optical speckles.

Optical logic gates are fundamental blocks of optical computing to accelerate information processing. While significant progress has been achieved in recent years, existing implementations typically rely on dedicated structures that are predesigned to modulate the phases and intensities of optical beams accurately for specific logic functions. Thus, these optical gates usually lack reconfigurability and are incapable within or through dynamic complex media/environment, such as fog and turbid water. In this work, as a conceptual demonstration, we propose reconfigurable optical logic operations through scattering media with transmission matrix-based wavefront shaping. A light beam is reflected by a spatial light modulator divided into several subregions functioning as logic units, with each displayed with predetermined wavefronts via transmission matrix-based wavefront shaping. Each modulated wavefront transmits through the scattering medium to form a desired light field. The interference of these light fields generates bright optical focus at pre-assigned locations, representing different logic states. As a proof of concept, we experimentally demonstrate five basic logic functions (AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR). As the transmission matrix of the scattering medium/system can be measured instantly to adapt to environment perturbation, the method, if further engineered, opens new venues towards reconfigurable optical logic computing in a dynamically complex environment., Comment: 26 pages,12 figures

Optical focusing through/inside scattering media, like multimode fiber and biological tissues, has significant impact in biomedicine yet considered challenging due to strong scattering nature of light. Previously, promising progress has been made, benefiting from the iterative optical wavefront shaping, with which deep-tissue high-resolution optical focusing becomes possible. Most of iterative algorithms can overcome noise perturbations but fail to effectively adapt beyond the noise, e.g. sudden strong perturbations. Re-optimizations are usually needed for significant decorrelated medium since these algorithms heavily rely on the optimization in the previous iterations. Such ineffectiveness is probably due to the absence of a metric that can gauge the deviation of the instant wavefront from the optimum compensation based on the concurrently measured optical focusing. In this study, a square rule of binary-amplitude modulation, directly relating the measured focusing performance with the error in the optimized wavefront, is theoretically proved and experimentally validated. With this simple rule, it is feasible to quantify how many pixels on the spatial light modulator incorrectly modulate the wavefront for the instant status of the medium or the whole system. As an example of application, we propose a novel algorithm, dynamic mutation algorithm, with high adaptability against perturbations by probing how far the optimization has gone toward the theoretically optimum. The diminished focus of scattered light can be effectively recovered when perturbations to the medium cause significant drop of the focusing performance, which no existing algorithms can achieve due to their inherent strong dependence on previous optimizations. Speckles arise when coherent light interacts with biological tissues. Information retrieval from speckles is desired yet challenging, requiring understanding or mapping of the multiple scattering process, or reliable capability to reverse or compensate for the scattering-induced phase distortions. In whatever situation, insufficient sampling of speckles undermines the encoded information, impeding successful object reconstruction from speckle patterns. In this work, we propose a deep learning method to combat the physical limit: the sub-Nyquist sampled speckles (~14 below the Nyquist criterion) are interpolated up to a well-resolved level (1024 times more pixels to resolve the same FOV) with smoothed morphology fine-textured. More importantly, the lost information can be retraced, which is impossible with classic interpolation or any existing methods. The learning network inspires a new perspective on the nature of speckles and a promising platform for efficient processing or deciphering of massive scattered optical signals, enabling widefield high-resolution imaging in complex scenarios.
