Abstract Cross‐coupling and current sharing are the main problems faced by modular wireless power transfer (WPT) systems for electric vehicle (EV) applications. In this study, a decoupled dual‐channel wireless power transfer loosely coupled transformer (LCT) with a hybrid core composed of nanocrystalline and ferrite is proposed for modular WPT systems, as well as WPT systems with specific hybrid topology or detuned compensation. Firstly, the requirements of the LCT for modular parallel dual‐channel WPT system and detuned compensation are discussed. For these requirements, the structure and corresponding optimization design method of the decoupled dual‐channel LCT with a hybrid core is then proposed, and an LCT is designed with this method for the case study. Furthermore, the LCT is analysed by the finite element method (FEM). It is revealed that the mutual inductances of the proposed LCT between transmitting and receiving coils can be symmetrical under misalignment in multiple directions, while the cross‐coupling is eliminated. Finally, the designed LCT is manufactured and verified in a modular parallel dual‐channel WPT system. The experimental results show that the current and power sharing is realized under misalignment in multiple directions.

Abstract Enhancing corrosion resistance is essential for developing efficient electrocatalysts for acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, we report the strategic manipulation of the local compressive strain to reinforce the anti-corrosion properties of the non-precious Co3O4 support. The incorporation of Ru single atoms, larger in atomic size than Co, into the Co3O4 lattice (Ru-Co3O4), triggers localized strain compression and lattice distortion on the Co-O lattice. A comprehensive exploration of the correlation between this specific local compressive strain and electrocatalytic performance is conducted through experimental and theoretical analyses. The presence of the localized strain in Ru-Co3O4 is confirmed by operando X-ray absorption studies and supported by quantum calculations. This local strain, presented in a shortened Co-O bond length, enhances the anti-corrosion properties of Co3O4 by suppressing metal dissolutions. Consequently, Ru-Co3O4 shows satisfactory stability, maintaining OER for over 400 hours at 30 mA cm−2 with minimal decay. This study demonstrates the potential of the local strain effect in fortifying catalyst stability for acidic OER and beyond.

Abstract A dc voltage restorer (dc‐VR) with optimal droop control is developed to reduce the power loss and solve the dynamic current imbalance simultaneously of the zonal dc distribution system integrating multi‐parallel energy storage. Firstly, the power loss model composed of line loss and converter loss is built and it is proved to be a strictly convex function with respect to droop coefficients, which indicates the power loss can be mitigated by optimizing the current distribution. Thus, an image‐based droop optimization method is proposed to search for the optimal droop coefficients. Then, the economy of voltage compensation on power loss reduction is investigated and an ESS‐combined dc‐VR is designed, including an interleaved parallel architecture and a capacitor‐integrated electric spring (C‐ES). Unified virtual inertia is proposed for interleaved parallel bridge arms to make their dynamic performance consistent. And the newly introduced C‐ES can keep the bus voltage at the rated level to reduce the system cost. Therefore, the problem of dynamic currents imbalance is addressed from the points of converter structure (dc‐VR) and control system (unified inertia), and the power loss can be reduced by voltage recovery (C‐ES) and optimizing the current reallocation which is achieved by updating sharing coefficients from the image‐based droop optimization method. Finally, the simulation cases validate the effectiveness of the proposed optimal‐droop dc‐VR on dynamic current balance and power loss reduction, and hardware in the loop experiment results prove the consistent dynamic characteristics of the dc‐VR's arms.

Abstract Background Academic adjustment is crucial for students' success and well-being, yet the factors influencing this process must be more adequately understood. Although prior research has explored the impact of Intelligence and motivational beliefs on academic outcomes, there is a need to clarify how these beliefs interact to influence academic adjustment. Specifically, the existing literature needs a comprehensive model that integrates intelligence beliefs, motivational beliefs, and academic self-efficacy and examines their combined effect on academic adjustment. Objectives This research aims to develop and analyze a model that explains the relationships among intelligence beliefs (fixed and growth mindsets), motivational beliefs (including self-efficacy and intrinsic value) and test anxiety in predicting academic adjustment. This study also seeks to investigate the mediating role of academic self-efficacy in these associations, providing a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms that contribute to students' academic adaptation. Method The research employed a correlational methodology, targeting male and female undergraduate students at Inner Mongolia Medical University during the 2021 academic year. The statistical population comprised students from various departments, and a convenience sampling approach was utilized. Data collection involved 384 participants who completed questionnaires, including the Academic Adjustment Questionnaire, Intelligence Beliefs Questionnaire, Motivational Beliefs Questionnaire, and Academic Self-Efficacy Questionnaire. Results The findings revealed a favourable fit between the proposed model and the collected data. Furthermore, through a comprehensive direct and indirect effects analysis, it was evident that academic self-efficacy mediated the relationships among intelligence beliefs (both inherent and incremental), self-efficacy, intrinsic value, test anxiety, and academic adjustment. These results contribute to a nuanced understanding of the factors influencing academic adjustment among undergraduate students. Conclusions and implications In conclusion, this research underscores the pivotal role of academic self-efficacy as a mediator in the nexus between intelligence beliefs (both inherent and incremental) and academic adjustment. The study advocates for heightened attention to these constructs in educational planning. It emphasizes the need for educational interventions that foster positive Intelligence and motivational beliefs and mitigate test anxiety to enhance academic self-efficacy and promote successful academic adjustment. The implications of these findings extend to educators, counsellors, and policymakers involved in shaping the educational experiences of undergraduate students.

Abstract Direct photocatalytic conversion of methane to value-added C1 oxygenate with O2 is of great interest but presents a significant challenge in achieving highly selective product formation. Herein, a general strategy for the construction of copper single-atom catalysts with a well-defined coordination microenvironment is developed on the basis of metal-organic framework for selective photo-oxidation of CH4 to HCHO. We propose the directional activation of O2 on the mono-copper site breaks the original equilibrium and tilts the balance of radical formation almost completely toward •OOH. The synchronously generated •OOH and •CH3 radicals rapidly combine to form HCHO while inhibiting competing reactions, thus resulting in ultra-highly selective HCHO production (nearly 100%) with a time yield of 2.75 mmol gcat −1 h−1. This work highlights the potential of rationally designing reaction sites to manipulate reaction pathways and achieve selective CH4 photo-oxidation, and could guide the further design of high-performance single-atom catalysts to meet future demand.

Abstract Alkaline water electrolysis is a promising low-cost strategy for clean and sustainable hydrogen production but is largely limited by the sluggish anodic oxygen evolution reaction and the challenges in maintaining adequate separation between H2 and O2. Here, we reveal an anodic-cathodic sequential oxygen evolution process via electrochemical oxidation and subsequent reduction of Ni hydroxides, enabling much lower overpotentials than conventional anodic oxygen evolution. By using (isotope-labeled) differential electrochemical mass spectrometry and in situ Raman spectroscopy combined with density functional theory calculations, we evidence that the sequential oxygen evolution originates from the electrochemical oxidation of Ni hydroxides to NiOO– active species while undergoing a different, reductive step of NiOO– for the final release of O2 due to weakened Ni–O covalency. Based on this sequential process, we propose and demonstrate a hybrid water electrolysis and energy storage device, which enables time-decoupled hydrogen and oxygen evolution and electrochemical energy storage in the Ni hydroxides.

Abstract Aims Serum calcium level is widely used for evaluating disease severity, but its impact on clinical outcomes in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) remains poorly understood. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between serum calcium levels and in‐hospital mortality in CHF patients. Methods and results We conducted a retrospective analysis utilizing clinical data from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care database, encompassing a cohort of 15 983 CHF patients. This cohort was stratified based on their serum calcium levels, with the primary objective being the determination of in‐hospital mortality. To assess the impact of admission serum calcium levels on in‐hospital mortality, we employed various statistical methodologies, including multivariable logistic regression models, a generalized additive model, a two‐piecewise linear regression model, and subgroup analysis. Comparative analysis of the reference group (Q3) revealed increased in‐hospital mortality in the first quintile (Q1, the group with the lowest blood calcium level) and the fifth quintile (Q5, the group with the highest blood calcium level), with fully adjusted odds ratios of 1.38 [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.13–1.68, P = 0.002] and 1.23 (95% CI: 1.01–1.5, P = 0.038), respectively. A U‐shaped relationship was observed between serum calcium levels and in‐hospital mortality, with the lowest risk occurring at a threshold of 8.35 mg/dL. The effect sizes and corresponding CIs below and above this threshold were 0.782 (95% CI: 0.667–0.915, P = 0.0023) and 1.147 (95% CI: 1.034–1.273, P = 0.0094), respectively. Stratified analyses confirmed the robustness of this correlation. Conclusions Our study identifies a U‐shaped association between serum calcium levels and in‐hospital mortality in CHF patients, with a notable inflection point at 8.35 mg/dL. Further investigation through prospective, randomized, and controlled studies is warranted to validate the findings presented in this study.

Abstract Implant-related infections pose significant challenges to orthopedic surgeries due to the high risk of severe complications. The widespread use of bioactive prostheses in joint replacements, featuring roughened surfaces and tight integration with the bone marrow cavity, has facilitated bacterial proliferation and complicated treatment. Developing antibacterial coatings for orthopedic implants has been a key research focus in recent years to address this critical issue. Researchers have designed coatings using various materials and antibacterial strategies. In this study, we fabricated 3D-printed porous titanium rods, incorporated vancomycin-loaded mPEG750-b-PCL2500 gel, and coated them with a PCL layer. We then evaluated the antibacterial efficacy through both in vitro and in vivo experiments. Our coating passively inhibits bacterial biofilm formation and actively controls antibiotic release in response to bacterial growth, providing a practical solution for proactive and sustained infection control. This study utilized 3D printing technology to produce porous titanium rod implants simulating bioactive joint prostheses. The porous structure of the titanium rods was used to load a thermoresponsive gel, mPEG750-b-PCL2500 (PEG: polyethylene glycol; PCL: polycaprolactone), serving as a novel drug delivery system carrying vancomycin for controlled antibiotic release. The assembly was then covered with a PCL membrane that inhibits bacterial biofilm formation early in infection and degrades when exposed to lipase solutions, mimicking enzymatic activity during bacterial infections. This setup provides infection-responsive protection and promotes drug release. We investigated the coating’s controlled release, antibacterial capability, and biocompatibility through in vitro experiments. We established a Staphylococcus aureus infection model in rabbits, implanting titanium rods in the femoral medullary cavity. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of the composite coating in preventing implant-related infections using imaging, hematology, and pathology. In vitro experiments demonstrated that the PCL membrane stably protects encapsulated vancomycin during PBS immersion. The PCL membrane rapidly degraded at a lipase concentration of 0.2 mg/mL. The mPEG750-b-PCL2500 gel ensured stable and sustained vancomycin release, inhibiting bacterial growth. We investigated the antibacterial effect of the 3D-printed titanium material, coated with PCL and loaded with mPEG750-b-PCL2500 hydrogel, using a rabbit Staphylococcus aureus infection model. Imaging, hematology, and histopathology confirmed that our composite antibacterial coating exhibited excellent antibacterial effects and infection prevention, with good safety in trials. Our results indicate that the composite antibacterial coating effectively protects vancomycin in the hydrogel from premature release in the absence of bacterial infection. The outer PCL membrane inhibits bacterial growth and prevents biofilm formation. Upon contact with bacterial lipase, the PCL membrane rapidly degrades, releasing vancomycin for antibacterial action. The mPEG750-b-PCL2500 gel provides stable and sustained vancomycin release, prolonging its antibacterial effects. Our composite antibacterial coating demonstrates promising potential for clinical application.

Abstract Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) have become pivotal in achieving high-performance perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and organic solar cells (OSCs) by significantly minimizing interfacial energy losses. In this study, we propose a co-adsorb (CA) strategy employing a novel small molecule, 2-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)isonicotinic acid (PyCA-3F), introducing at the buried interface between 2PACz and the perovskite/organic layers. This approach effectively diminishes 2PACz’s aggregation, enhancing surface smoothness and increasing work function for the modified SAM layer, thereby providing a flattened buried interface with a favorable heterointerface for perovskite. The resultant improvements in crystallinity, minimized trap states, and augmented hole extraction and transfer capabilities have propelled power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) beyond 25% in PSCs with a p-i-n structure (certified at 24.68%). OSCs employing the CA strategy achieve remarkable PCEs of 19.51% based on PM1:PTQ10:m-BTP-PhC6 photoactive system. Notably, universal improvements have also been achieved for the other two popular OSC systems. After a 1000-hour maximal power point tracking, the encapsulated PSCs and OSCs retain approximately 90% and 80% of their initial PCEs, respectively. This work introduces a facile, rational, and effective method to enhance the performance of SAMs, realizing efficiency breakthroughs in both PSCs and OSCs with a favorable p-i-n device structure, along with improved operational stability.

Current analysis of fragile bronzes mainly relies on the research of two-dimensional aspects such as sample cross-sections and surfaces while typically utilizing optical and electronic microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF). As a fast and nondestructive testing method, computer tomography (CT) can be used to characterize and detect the internal structures, corrosion conditions, and corrosion distribution of bronzes. This study used the CT imaging results of fragile bronzes to analyze, locate, and measure corrosion in fragile bronzes quickly and accurately, thus providing strong support for corrosion evaluation and protection research of fragile bronzes. The results verified the value and application prospects of CT technology in the protection of cultural relics.

The fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) is a crucial receptor tyrosine kinase involved in essential biological processes, including growth, development, and tissue repair. However, FGFR gene mutations, including amplification, fusion, and mutation, can disrupt epigenetics, transcriptional regulation, and tumor microenvironment interactions, leading to cancer development. Targeting these kinase mutations with small molecule drugs or antibodies has shown clinical benefits. For example, erdafitinib is approved for treating locally advanced or metastatic urothelial cancer patients with FGFR2/FGFR3 mutations, and pemigatinib is approved for treating cholangiocarcinoma with FGFR2 fusion/rearrangement. Effective screening of FGFR variant patients is crucial for the clinical application of FGFR inhibitors. Various detection methods, such as polymerase chain reaction, next-generation sequencing, fluorescence in situ hybridization, and immunohistochemistry, are available, and their selection should be based on diagnostic and treatment decision-making needs. Our developed expert consensus aims to standardize the diagnosis and treatment process for FGFR gene mutations and facilitate the practical application of FGFR inhibitors in clinical practice.

Abstract Mechanochemistry studies the effect of mechanical force on chemical bonds, bringing opportunities for synthesizing alloys, ceramics, organics, polymers, and biomaterials. A vital issue of applying macro-scale mechanical force to manipulate crystal structures is finding ways to precisely adjust the force directions to break micro-scale target chemical bonds. Inspired by a common technique of driving a wedge into the wood to make wood chopping much easier, a wedging strategy of splitting three-dimensional structured crystalline frameworks and then converting them to nanosheets was proposed, where specific molecules were wedged into crystalline frameworks to drive the directional transmission of mechanical force to break chemical bonds. As a result, various crystalline framework nanosheets including metal−organic framework nanosheets, covalent organic framework nanosheets, and coordination polymer nanosheets were fabricated. This wedging crystal strategy exhibits advantages of operability, flexibility and designability, and furthermore, it is expected to expand mechanochemistry applications in material preparation.

Abstract Objectives This study aimed to investigate the intra- and inter-observer consistency of the Visually Accessible Rembrandt Images (VASARI) feature set before and after dichotomization, and the association between dichotomous VASARI features and the overall survival (OS) in glioblastoma (GBM) patients. Methods This retrospective study included 351 patients with pathologically confirmed IDH1 wild-type GBM between January 2016 and June 2022. Firstly, VASARI features were assessed by four radiologists with varying levels of experience before and after dichotomization. Cohen’s kappa coefficient (κ) was calculated to measure the intra- and inter-observer consistency. Then, after adjustment for confounders using propensity score matching, Kaplan-Meier curves were used to compare OS differences for each dichotomous VASARI feature. Next, patients were randomly stratified into a training set (n = 211) and a test set (n = 140) in a 3:2 ratio. Based on the training set, Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was adopted to develop combined and clinical models to predict OS, and the performance of the models was evaluated with the test set. Results Eleven VASARI features with κ value of 0.61–0.8 demonstrated almost perfect agreement after dichotomization, with the range of κ values across all readers being 0.874–1.000. Seven VASARI features were correlated with GBM patient OS. For OS prediction, the combined model outperformed the clinical model in both training set (C-index, 0.762 vs. 0.723) and test set (C-index, 0.812 vs. 0.702). Conclusion The dichotomous VASARI features exhibited excellent inter- and intra-observer consistency. The combined model outperformed the clinical model for OS prediction.

To examine the regulatory mechanisms of oligopeptides derived from soft-shelled turtle protein on tubulin activity in tumor cells, this study employed three specific oligopeptides D-7-A, E-7-W, and G-8-V obtained from soft-shelled turtle protein. The objective was to assess their impact on tubulin polymerization and depolymerization, investigate their interaction with tubulin, and elucidate the mechanisms induce apoptosis in tumor cells. The results showed that the three oligopeptides exhibited similarities to vincristine and acted as inhibitors of tubulin polymerization, their respective IC50 values was 3.72, 5.01, and 5.95 µmol/L. Furthermore, the molecular docking analysis revealed that D-7-A interacted with the active center of α-tubulin 4X1I, specifically binding to Ser178 and Thr179. The active center of E-7-W was found to be bound by Gln15, Thr225, Tyr224, Tyr210 and Arg214. Similarly, G-8-V was observed to bind to Gln11, Ser178 and Asp329 at the active center, exerting a significant impact on α-tubulin. The results of cell experiments showed that D-7-A, E-7-W and G-8-V had dose-dependent inhibitory effects on A549 cells, with IC50 values of 2003±72, 1877±102 and 1789±137 μmol/L, respectively. The G-8-V exhibited the most potent inhibitory effect on A549 cells, leading to the induction of apoptosis. Moreover, the apoptosis rate demonstrated a significant increase with prolonged drug treatment time. The underlying mechanism of action involved the inhibition of tubulin polymerization and the induction of apoptosis by perturbing the valence bond of α-tubulin.

Rhodiola, belonging to the Crassulaceae family, is a perennial herbaceous plant genus. There are about 90 Rhodiola species worldwide, some of which have been reported to have medicinal properties. Rhodiola sachalinensis is a perennial medicinal herb within this genus and, in the present study, its chloroplast genome was sequenced, assembled, annotated and compared with 24 other Rhodiola species. The results obtained show that the chloroplast genome of R. sachalinensis is 151 595 bp long and has a CG content of 37.7%. The inverted repeats (IR) region of the Rhodiola chloroplast genome is the most conserved region, with the main differences being observed in the ycf1 and ndhF genes at the IRb‐small single copy boundary, and rps19 and trnH genes at the IRa‐large single copy boundary. Phylogenetic analysis showed that Rhodiola species form two major clades, and species with recorded medicinal properties, clustered together in one branch except for R. dumulosa. Within the genus, R. sachalinensis is most closely related to Rhodiola rosea, although comparative analyses showed that only R. sachalinensis and Rhodiola subopposita contained the psbZ gene, which encodes a highly conserved protein subunit of the Photosystem II core complex. Overall, the present study contributes to the understanding of the chloroplast genome of Rhodiola species, and provides a theoretical basis for the study of their genetic diversity and possible use as medicinal plants.

Introduction: Serious Staphylococcus aureus (SA) infection is one of the most life-threatening diseases. Interferon-induced protein 35 (IFP35) is a pleiotropic factor that participates in multiple biological functions, however, its biological role in SA infection is not fully understood. Ferroptosis is a new type of regulated cell death driven by the accretion of free iron and toxic lipid peroxides and plays critical roles in tissue damage. Whether ferroptosis is involved in SA-induced immunopathology and its regulatory mechanisms remain unknown. Objectives: We aimed to determine the role and underlying mechanisms of IFP35 in SA-induced lung infections. Methods: SA infection models were established using wild-type (WT) and IFP35 knockout (Ifp35−/−) mice or macrophages. Histological analysis was performed to assess lung injury. Quantitative real-time PCR, western blotting, flow cytometry, and confocal microscopy were performed to detect ferroptosis. Co-IP and immunofluorescence were used to elucidate the molecular regulatory mechanisms. Results: We found that IFP35 levels increased in the macrophages and lung tissue of SA-infected mice. IFP35 deficiency protected against SA-induced lung damage in mice. Moreover, ferroptosis occurred and contributed to lung injury after SA infection, which was ameliorated by IFP35 deficiency. Mechanically, IFP35 facilitated the ubiquitination and degradation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), aggravating SA-induced ferroptosis and lung injury. Conclusions: Our data demonstrate that IFP35 promotes ferroptosis by facilitating the ubiquitination and degradation of Nrf2 to exacerbate SA infection. Targeting IFP35 may be a promising approach for treating infectious diseases caused by SA.

Abstract Low-dose X-CT scanning method effectively reduces radiation hazards, however, reducing the radiation dose will introduce noise and artifacts during the projection process, resulting in a decrease in the quality of the reconstructed image. To address this problem, we combined 2D variational modal decomposition and dictionary learning. We proposed a low-dose CT (LDCT) image denoising algorithm based on an improved K-SVD algorithm with image decomposition. The dictionary obtained by K-SVD training lacks consideration of image structure information. To address this problem, we employ the two-dimensional variational mode decomposition (2D-VMD) method to decompose the image into distinct modal components. Through the adaptive learning of dictionaries based on the characteristics of each modal component, independent denoising processing is applied to each component, avoiding the loss of structural and detailed information in the image. In addition, we introduce the regularized orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm (ROMP) and dictionary atom optimization method to improve the sparse representation ability of the dictionary and reduce the impact of noise atoms on denoising performance. The experiments show that the proposed method outperforms other denoising methods regarding peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity. The proposed method maintains the denoised image details and structural information while removing LDCT image noise and artifacts. The image quality after denoising is significantly improved and facilitates more accurate detection and analysis of lesion areas.

Abstract Solar-driven atmospheric water extraction (SAWE) is a sustainable technology for decentralized freshwater supply. However, most SAWE systems produce water intermittently due to the cyclic nature, with adoption hindered by complex design requirements or periodic manual operations. Herein, a fully passive SAWE system that can continuously produce freshwater under sunlight is presented. By optimizing the three-dimensional architecture to facilitate spontaneous mass transport and efficient energy utilization, this system can consistently produce 0.65 L m−2 h−1 of freshwater under 1-sun illumination at 90% relative humidity (RH) and functions in arid environments with an RH as low as 40%. We test the practical performance of a scaled-up system in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia over 35 days across two seasons. The system produces 2.0–3.0 L m−2 per day of freshwater during the summer and 1.0–2.8 L m−2 per day of freshwater during the fall, without requiring additional maintenance. Intriguingly, we demonstrate the system’s potential for off-grid irrigation by successfully growing cabbage plants using atmospheric water. This passive SAWE system, harnessing solar energy to continuously extract moisture from air for drinking and irrigation, offers a promising solution to address the intertwined challenges of energy, water, and food supply, particularly for remote and water-scarce regions.

Abstract This study investigates how dynamic fluctuations in matrix stiffness affect the behavior of cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) within a three-dimensional (3D) hydrogel environment. Using hybrid hydrogels with tunable stiffness, we created an in vitro model to mimic the varying stiffness of the cardiac microenvironment. By manipulating hydrogel stiffness, we examined CF responses, particularly the expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), a marker of myofibroblast differentiation. Our findings reveal that increased matrix stiffness promotes the differentiation of CFs into myofibroblasts, while matrix softening reverses this process. Additionally, we identified the role of focal adhesions and integrin β1 in mediating stiffness-induced phenotypic switching. This study provides significant insights into the mechanobiology of cardiac fibrosis and suggests that modulating matrix stiffness could be a potential therapeutic strategy for treating cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract Background Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play vital regulatory functions in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Cisplatin (DDP) resistance has significantly decreased the effectiveness of DDP-based chemotherapy in NSCLC patients. This study aimed to investigate the effects of SH3PXD2A antisense RNA 1 (SH3PXD2A-AS1) on DDP resistance in NSCLC. Methods Proliferation and apoptosis of DDP-resistant NSCLC cells were detected using cell counting kit-8 and flow cytometry assays. The interaction between SH3PXD2A-AS1 and sirtuin 7 (SIRT7) was assessed using co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP), RNA pull-down, RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), RNA fluorescence in situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence assays, while succinylation (SUCC) of Forkhead Box M1 (FOXM1) was analyzed by IP and Western blot assays. The role of SH3PXD2A-AS1 in vivo was explored using a xenografted tumor model. Results Expression of SH3PXD2A-AS1 was found elevated in DDP-resistant NSCLC cells, while it’s knocking down translated into suppression of cell viability and promotion of apoptosis. Moreover, silencing of SH3PXD2A-AS1 resulted in decreased FOXM1 protein level and enhanced FOXM1-SUCC protein level. The SIRT7 was found to interact with FOXM1, translating into inhibition of FOXM1 SUCC at the K259 site in human embryonic kidney (HEK)-293T cells. Overexpressing of SIRT7 reversed the increase of FOXM1-SUCC protein level and apoptosis, and the decrease of cell viability induced by silencing of SH3PXD2A-AS1. In tumor-bearing mice, SH3PXD2A-AS1 inhibition suppressed tumor growth and the protein levels of Ki67, SIRT7, and FOXM1. Conclusion SH3PXD2A-AS1 promoted DDP resistance in NSCLC cells by regulating FOXM1 SUCC via SIRT7, offering a promising therapeutic approach for NSCLC.

Abstract Objective We aimed to analyze the relationship between non-alcoholic fatty liver and progressive fibrosis and serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25(OH)D) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 184 patients with T2DM who were hospitalized in the Department of Endocrinology of the ShiDong Clinical Hospital between January 2023 and June 2023 were selected. We compared review of anthropometric, biochemical, and inflammatory parameters and non-invasive scores between groups defined by ultrasound NAFLD severity grades.We determine the correlation between 25(OH)D and FLI and FIB-4 scores, respectively. Results Statistically significant differences were seen between BMI, WC, C-peptide levels, FPG, ALT, serum 25(OH)D, TC, HDL, lumbar spine bone density, FLI, and FIB-4 in different degrees of NAFLD. Abstract Single image super‐resolution (SISR) is a promising research direction in computer vision and image processing for improving the visual perception of low‐quality images. In recent years, deep learning algorithms have driven tremendous development in SR, and SR methods based on various network architectures have significantly improved the quality of reconstructed images. Although there has been a large amount of reviews focusing on SISR, few studies have focused specifically on network architectures for SISR. This paper aims to provide a systematic overview of the design ideas of SISR using multiple architectures, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN), Transformer, and Diffusion model. In addition, an experimental analysis and comparison of state‐of‐the‐art SR algorithms have been performed on publicly available quantitative and qualitative datasets. Finally, some future directions are discussed that may help other community researchers.

With the gradual development and modernization of satellite navigation systems, using observation information from multi-GNSS has become one of the hot-spot issues in recent years. Multi-system loose combinations form double-difference observation equations within their respective systems, and the positioning effect is improved. However, the interchangeability and compatible interoperability between global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) cannot be truly realized. At the same time, when the number of visible satellites decreases abruptly, the positioning performance deteriorates sharply. This paper focuses on the GNSS multi-system tight combination relative positioning technique, gives a mathematical model of multi-system tight combination relative positioning considering differential inter-system bias (DISB), and analyzes the time-varying characteristics of DISB at overlapping and non-overlapping frequencies among GPS/Galileo, GPS/BDS, and GPS/QZSS in terms of receiver brand, temperature, and receiver restart. The GNSS tight combination relative positioning performance is verified by static data from Curtin University and dynamic data measured at Taiyuan University of Technology. The results show that compared with loose combination, the ambiguity-fixed rate increases from 62.18% to 97.60% for static data and from 74.97% to 99.53% for dynamic data when the elevation mask angle is 50°, resulting in a significant improvement in positioning performance.

Background: Over-activated osteoclast (OC) is a major cause of diseases related to bone loss and bone metabolism. Both bone resorption inhibition and apoptosis induction of osteoclast are crucial in treating these diseases. X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP)-associated factor 1 (XAF1) is an important interferon-stimulated and apoptotic gene. However, how XAF1 regulates bone formation and remodeling is unknown. Methods: We generate global and chimeric Xaf1 knockout mouse models and utilize these models to explore the function and mechanism of XAF1 in regulating bone formation and remodeling in vivo and in vitro. Results: We show that XAF1 depletion enhances osteoclast generation in vitro. XAF1 knockout increases osteoclast number and bone resorption, thereby exacerbating bone loss in both OVX and osteolysis models. Activation of XAF1 with BV6 (a potent XIAP inhibitor) suppresses osteoclast formation. Mechanistically, XAF1 deletion decreases osteoclast apoptosis by facilitating the interaction between XIAP and caspase-3/7. Conclusions: Our data illustrates an essential role of XAF1 in controlling osteoclastogenesis in both osteoporosis and osteolysis mouse models and highlights its underlying mechanism, indicating a potential role in clinical treatment.The translational potential of this article: The translation potential of this article is that we first indicated that osteoclast apoptosis induced by XAF1 contribute to the progression of osteoporosis and osteolysis, which provides a novel strategy in the prevention of osteoporosis and osteolysis.

Amidst the burgeoning interest in rotating magnetic fields (RMF) within biological research, there remains a notable gap in the scientific evidence concerning the long-term safety of RMF. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the safety of protracted exposure to a 0.2 T, 4 Hz RMF over 10 months in mice. Two-month-old female C57BL/6 mice were randomly allocated to either the RMF group (exposed to 0.2 T, 4 Hz real RMF) or the SHAM group (exposed to 0 T, 4 Hz sham RMF). Throughout the experiment, the murine weekly body weights were recorded, and their behavioral traits were assessed via open field tests. In the final month, a comprehensive evaluation of the murine overall health was conducted, encompassing analyses of blood parameters, histomorphological examination of major organs, and skeletal assessments using X-ray and micro-CT imaging. The murine immune system and lipid metabolism were evaluated through immunochip analysis and metabolomics. Notably, no discernible adverse effects with RMF exposure were observed. Murine body weight, locomotor behavior, organ histomorphology, and skeletal health remained unaffected by RMF. Blood analysis revealed subtle changes in hormone and lipid levels between the SHAM and RMF groups, yet these differences did not reach statistical significance. Moreover, RMF led to elevated serum interleukin-28 (IL-28) levels, albeit within the normal range, and modest alterations in serum lipid metabolites. Conclusively, mice exposed to the 0.2 T, 4 Hz RMF for 10 months displayed no significant signs of chronic toxicity, indicating its potential clinical application as a physical therapy.

Abstract Previous studies have reported that the significant association between serum calcium and mortality substantially in patients, especially among those with intensive care unit (ICU). And In diabetes mellitus, congestive heart failure (CHF) is a significant comorbidity. We aim to evaluate the association between serum calcium levels and in-hospital mortality among patients with diabetes and congestive heart failure. The participants in this study were extracted from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV) database. To scrutinize potential associations between serum calcium levels and in-hospital mortality, a comprehensive analysis encompassing multivariate logistic regression, cubic spline function model, threshold effect analysis, and subgroup analysis was performed. This retrospective cohort study encompassed 7063 patients, among whom the in-hospital mortality stood at 12.2%. In the multivariate logistic regression, adjusted odds ratios (ORs) were contrasted with the reference category Q6 (8.8–9.1 mg/dL) for serum calcium levels and in-hospital mortality. The adjusted ORs for Q1 (≤ 7.7 mg/dL), Q2 (7.7–8 mg/dL), and Q7 (≥ 9.1 mg/dL) were 1.69 (95% CI 1.17–2.44, p = 0.005), 1.62 (95% CI 1.11–2.36, p = 0.013), and 1.57 (95% CI 1.1–2.24, p = 0.012) respectively. The dose–response analysis uncovered a U-shaped relationship between serum calcium levels and in-hospital mortality in diabetic patients with heart failure. Subgroup analyses confirmed result stability notwithstanding the influence of diverse factors. Our investigation revealed a U-shaped correlation between serum calcium levels and in-hospital mortality in diabetes patients with congestive heart failure, pinpointing a significant inflection point at 9.05 mg/dL.

Abstract It is important to ensure the nutritional quality and safe production of rice. Here, plot experiments were used to analyze the effects of three soil amendments—10 t ha−1 of biochar (BC), 1.5 t ha−1 of lime (LM), and 2.25 t ha−1 of silicon–calcium fertilizer (SC)—on the soil characteristics, rice yield and quality of double-cropping rice grown in mildly cadmium-polluted paddy fields. Compared with the control treatment (CK), the BC and SC treatments significantly improved rice processing, appearance and nutritional quality, but reduced cooking quality. All three soil amendments significantly reduced cadmium (Cd) content in brown rice. Soil amendments could significantly increase soil pH and reduce soil available Cd content. The application of the BC and SC treatments increased the content of each nutrient index in the soil (SOM, NN, AP, AK). Correlation analysis showed that the improvement in rice processing, appearance, and nutritional quality was mainly affected by the comprehensive effects of soil SOM, NN, AP and AK; the hygiene quality was mainly affected by soil pH and available Cd. In terms of benefit analysis combined with cost, the SC treatment had the highest benefit effect. Taken together, in mildly cadmium-polluted paddy fields, the application of silicon–calcium fertilizer improved the soil quality, thereby increased the yield and quality of rice, and had the best effect on increasing income.

Abstract One-dimensional (1D) olivine iron phosphate (FePO4) is widely proposed for electrochemical lithium (Li) extraction from dilute water sources, however, significant variations in Li selectivity were observed for particles with different physical attributes. Understanding how particle features influence Li and sodium (Na) co-intercalation is crucial for system design and enhancing Li selectivity. Here, we investigate a series of FePO4 particles with various features and revealed the importance of harnessing kinetic and chemo-mechanical barrier difference between lithiation and sodiation to promote selectivity. The thermodynamic preference of FePO4 provides baseline of selectivity while the particle features are critical to induce different kinetic pathways and barriers, resulting in different Li to Na selectivity from 6.2 × 102 to 2.3 × 104. Importantly, we categorize the FePO4 particles into two groups based on their distinctly paired phase evolutions upon lithiation and sodiation, and generate quantitative correlation maps among Li preference, morphological features, and electrochemical properties. By selecting FePO4 particles with specific features, we demonstrate fast (636 mA/g) Li extraction from a high Li source (1: 100 Li to Na) with (96.6 ± 0.2)% purity, and high selectivity (2.3 × 104) from a low Li source (1: 1000 Li to Na) with (95.8 ± 0.3)% purity in a single step.

Bashang suancai is one of the most wellknown traditional fermented vegetables in North China. The study examined the variations in bacterial diversity, physicochemical properties, and volatile flavor compounds (VFCs) of Bashang suancai over a 7-day fermentation period, utilizing Illumina NovaSeq sequencing and headspace solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS). The leading bacterial phyla were Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, and Cyanobacteria, while the predominant bacterial species included Vibrio, Lactiplantibacillus, Cyanobacteriales, Weissella, and Latilactobacillus. The bacterial community diversity decreased significantly following 7 days of fermentation. The microbial profiles were markedly affected by pH, reducing sugar content (RSC), and salt content (SC). A total of 187 VFCs were identified from the specimens. Following 5 days of fermentation, the taste compounds achieved equilibrium, with isothiocyanates, alcohols, and esters predominating among the volatile molecules. Spearman correlation analysis revealed that a strong link between Latilactobacillus, Levilactobacillus, Lactiplantibacillus, Weissella, and Vibrio with the flavor of pickles. This study established a significant foundation for identifying strains that enhance taste development and improve the nutritional and sensory quality of Bashang suancai.

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a classic disease of liver injury, and studies have confirmed that nutrients can influence NAFLD. Findings on serum vitamin D (VD) and NAFLD are conflicting and the mechanisms are not yet clear. This study aimed to determine the association between the two and the mediating role mediated by body mass index (BMI). Methods: A cross-sectional study (N = 2609) was conducted using the 2017–2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) dataset. Weighted multivariate logistic regression models estimated OR and 95 % CIs between serum VD and NAFLD. The mediation analysis was performed for BMI. Results: Serum VD was statistically significant in subjects with and without NAFLD (P = 0.026). Adequate serum VD was found to be a protective factor for NAFLD after adjusting for covariates (OR (95 %CI) of 0.717 (0.553,0.929)). After mediation analysis, it was found that BMI mediated 34.07 % of the effect of serum VD on NAFLD. Conclusion: There is an association between serum vitamin D and NAFLD and sufficient VD was protective factor for NAFLD. BMI partly mediated the association between serum VD and NAFLD.

Osteosarcoma, a highly aggressive malignant bone tumor, is significantly influenced by the intricate interactions within its tumor microenvironment (TME), particularly involving neutrophils. This review delineates the multifaceted roles of neutrophils, including tumor-associated neutrophils (TANs) and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), in osteosarcoma’s pathogenesis. TANs exhibit both pro- and anti-tumor phenotypes, modulating tumor growth and immune evasion, while NETs facilitate tumor cell adhesion, migration, and immunosuppression. Clinically, neutrophil-related markers such as the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) predict patient outcomes, highlighting the potential for neutrophil-targeted therapies. Unraveling these complex interactions is crucial for developing novel treatment strategies that harness the TME to improve osteosarcoma management.

Circulating triglyceride (TG) and leukocytes, the main components of the vascular system, may impact each other and co-fuel atherosclerosis. While the causal relationship between plasma TG levels and leukocyte counts remains unclear. Bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted to investigate the potential causal relationship between TG levels and the counts of leukocytes and their subtypes. A cross-lagged panel model (CLPM) using longitudinal healthy screening data (13,389 adults with a follow-up of 4 years) was fitted to examine the temporal relationship between them. Genetically predicted plasma TG levels were positively associated with total leukocyte counts (TLC) [β(se) = 0.195(0.01)], lymphocyte counts (LC) [β(se) = 0.196(0.019)], and neutrophil counts (NC) [β(se) = 0.086(0.01)], which remained significant after adjusting for several confounders. Inversely, the genetically predicted TLC [β(se) = 0.033(0.008)], LC [β(se) = 0.053(0.008)], and NC [β(se) = 0.034(0.008)] were positively associated with plasma TG levels. However, when all three of them were put into the MR model adjusted for each other, only LC was significantly associated with TG levels. There was no association between genetically predicted TG levels and monocyte counts (MC), basophil counts, and eosinophil counts. The results of CLPM showed that the temporal effect of elevated TLC, MC, LC, and NC on plasma TG levels was stronger than the inverse effect. Our findings suggest causal associations of plasma TG levels with TLC, LC, and NC. In turn, LC was positively associated with plasma TG levels. Additionally, elevated circulating LC may precede high plasma TG levels.

BackgroundThere is still a lack of clinically validated biomarkers to screen lung cancer patients suitable for programmed dead cell-1 (PD-1)/programmed dead cell receptor-1 (PD-L1) immunotherapy. Detection of PD-L1 expression is invasively operated, and some PD-L1-negative patients can also benefit from immunotherapy; thus, the joint modeling of both deep learning images and clinical features was used to improve the prediction performance of PD-L1 expression in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).MethodsRetrospective collection of 101 patients diagnosed with pathology in our hospital who underwent 18F FDG PET/CT scans, with lung cancer tissue Tumor Propulsion Score (TPS) ≥1% as a positive expression. Lesions were extracted after preprocessing PET/CT images, and using deep learning 3D DenseNet121 to learn lesions in PET, CT, and PET/CT images, 1,024 fully connected features were extracted; clinical features (age, gender, smoking/no smoking history, lesion diameter, lesion volume, maximum standard uptake value of lesions [SUVmax], mean standard uptake value of lesions [SUVmean], total lesion glycolysis [TLG]) were combined for joint modeling based on the structured data Category Embedding Model.ResultsArea under a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) and accuracy of predicting PD-L1 positive for PET, CT, and PET/CT test groups were 0.814 ± 0.0152, 0.7212 ± 0.0861, and 0.90 ± 0.0605, 0.806 ± 0.023, 0.70 ± 0.074, and 0.950 ± 0.0250, respectively. After joint clinical feature modeling, the AUC and accuracy of predicting PD-L1 positive for PET/CT were 0.96 ± 0.00905 and 0.950 ± 0.0250, respectively.ConclusionThis study combines the features of 18F-FDG PET/CT images with clinical features using deep learning to predict the expression of PD-L1 in NSCLC, suggesting that 18F-FDG PET/CT images can be conducted as biomarkers for PD-L1 expression.

Summary: Here, we present a protocol for small interfering RNA (siRNA)-mediated U1 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) knockdown using fluorinated α-helical polypeptide in macrophages and mouse lungs, providing a dependable approach to silence U1 snRNA in vitro and in vivo. We describe steps for preparing P7F7/siRNA polyplexes and silencing U1 snRNA with P7F7/siRNA polyplexes in macrophages and mouse lungs. Knockdown efficiency is validated through reverse-transcription quantitative real-time PCR analysis. ABSTRACT: Newcastle disease virus, a member of the Paramyxoviridae family, causes significant economic losses in poultry worldwide. To identify novel antiviral agents against NDV, 36 canthin-6-one analogs were evaluated in this study. Our data showed that 8 compounds exhibited excellent inhibitory effects on NDV replication with IC50 values in the range of 5.26 to 11.76 μM. Besides, these analogs inhibited multiple NDV strains with IC50 values within 12 μM and exerted antiviral activity against peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) and canine distemper virus (CDV). Among these analogs, 16 presented the strongest anti-NDV activity (IC50 = 5.26 μM) and minimum cytotoxicity (CC50 > 200 μM) in DF-1 cells. Furthermore, 16 displayed antiviral activity in different cell lines. Our results showed that 16 did not affect the viral adsorption while it can inhibit the entry of NDV by suppressing the Akt pathway. Further study found that 16-treatment inhibited the NDV-activated ERK pathway, thereby promoting the expression of interferon-related genes. Our findings reveal an antiviral mechanism of canthin-6-one analogs through inhibition of the Akt and ERK signaling pathways. These results point to the potential value of canthin-6-one analogs to serve as candidate antiviral agents for NDV.

Abstract The lasso peptide microcin Y (MccY) effectively inhibits various serotypes of Salmonella in vitro, but the antibacterial effect against S. Pullorum in poultry is still unclear. This study was the first to evaluate the safety and anti-S. Pullorum infection of MccY in specific pathogen-free (SPF) chicks. The safety test showed that the body weight, IgA and IgM levels of serum, and cecal microbiota structure of 3 groups of chicks orally administrated with different doses of MccY (5 mg/kg, 10 mg/kg, 20 mg/kg) for 14 days were not significantly different from those of the control group. Then, the chicks were randomized into 3 groups for the experiment of anti-S. Pullorum infection: (I) negative control group (NC), (II) S. Pullorum-challenged group (SP, 5 × 108 CFU/bird), (III) MccY-treated group (MccY, 20 mg/kg). Abstract Background Both copy number variant-sequencing (CNV-seq) and karyotype analysis have been used as powerful tools in the genetic aetiology of fetuses with congenital heart diseases (CHD). However, CNV-seq brings clinicians more confusions to interpret the detection results related to CHD with or without extracardiac abnormalities. Hence, we conducted this study to investigate the clinical value of CNV-seq in fetuses with CHD. Results A total of 167 patients with fetal CHD including 36 single CHD (sCHD), 41 compound CHD (cCHD) and 90 non-isolated CHD (niCHD) were recruited into the study. 28 cases (16.77%, 28/167) were revealed with chromosomal abnormalities at the level of karyotype. The pathogenic detection rate (DR) of CNV-seq (23.17%, 19/82) was higher than that of karyotyping (15.85%, 13/82) in 82 cases by CNV-seq and karyotyping simultaneously. The DR of pathogenic copy number variations (PCNVs) (31.43%) was higher in niCHD subgroup than that in sCHD and cCHD (9.52% and 23.08%). Conotruncal defect (CTD) was one of the most common heart malformations with the highest DR of PCNVs (50%) in 7 categories of CHD. In terms of all the pregnancy outcomes, 67 (40.12%) cases were terminated and 100 (59.88%) cases were live neonates. Only two among 34 cases with a pathogenic genetic result chose to continue the pregnancy. Conclusions CNV-seq combined with karyotyping is a reliable and accurate prenatal technique for identifying pathogenic chromosomal abnormalities associated with fetal CHD with or without extracardiac abnormalities, which can assist clinicians to perform detailed genetic counselling with regard to the etiology and related outcomes of CHD.

Abstract Currently, three carnivorous bat species, namely Ia io, Nyctalus lasiopterus, and Nyctalus aviator, are known to actively prey on seasonal migratory birds (hereinafter referred to as “avivorous bats”). However, the absence of reference genomes impedes a thorough comprehension of the molecular adaptations of avivorous bat species. Herein, we present the high-quality chromosome-scale reference genome of N. aviator based on PacBio subreads, DNBSEQ short-reads and Hi-C sequencing data. The genome assembly size of N. aviator is 1.77 Gb, with a scaffold N50 of 102 Mb, of which 99.8% assembly was anchored into 21 pseudo-chromosomes. After masking 635.1 Mb repetitive sequences, a total of 19,412 protein-coding genes were identified, of which 99.3% were functionally annotated. The genome assembly and gene prediction reached 96.1% and 96.1% completeness of Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs (BUSCO), respectively. This chromosome-level reference genome of N. aviator fills a gap in the existing information on the genomes of carnivorous bats, especially avivorous ones, and will be valuable for mechanism of adaptations to dietary niche expansion in bat species.

Abstract Recently, Transformer-based methods have gained prominence in image super-resolution (SR) tasks, addressing the challenge of long-range dependence through the incorporation of cross-layer connectivity and local attention mechanisms. However, the analysis of these networks using local attribution maps has revealed significant limitations in leveraging the spatial extent of input information. To unlock the inherent potential of Transformer in image SR, we propose the Multi-Attention Fusion Transformer (MAFT), a novel model designed to integrate multiple attention mechanisms with the objective of expanding the number and range of pixels activated during image reconstruction. This integration enhances the effective utilization of input information space. At the core of our model lies the Multi-attention Adaptive Integration Groups, which facilitate the transition from dense local attention to sparse global attention through the introduction of Local Attention Aggregation and Global Attention Aggregation blocks with alternating connections, effectively broadening the network's receptive field. The effectiveness of our proposed algorithm has been validated through comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluation experiments conducted on benchmark datasets. Compared to state-of-the-art methods (e.g. HAT), the proposed MAFT achieves 0.09 dB gains on Urban100 dataset for × 4 SR task while containing 32.55% and 38.01% fewer parameters and FLOPs, respectively.

Currently, it is difficult to break through the bottleneck of high power, super-large mining and high reliability. The operating state is significantly affected by the main controlling factors such as geological conditions and filling process. The problem of autonomous control of abnormal working conditions needs to be solved urgently. The characteristics of solid backfilling scraper conveyor is summarized, and the posture and conveyance state characterization method of solid backfilling scraper conveyor is developed. By analyzing the formation principle of abnormal working conditions, selecting the discriminant index of abnormal working conditions, and combined with the characterization method of posture and conveyance state, the discriminant criteria of abnormal working conditions of the spatial posture and traction state of the scraper conveyor and the adjustment and control path of typical abnormal working conditions are given. The mechanism of conveyance control of solid backfilling scraper conveyor under multi-working conditions is revealed, and the efficient autonomous control method for abnormal working conditions is proposed to real-time control the transportation volume of backfilling materials, the straight line and horizontal extent. The first 260-meter-long solid filling project in China shows that through the autonomous control of abnormal working conditions, for every 100 mm reduction in horizontal offset, the traction is reduced by 85 kN and the transmission power loss is reduced by 55 kW, when the maximum vertical offset is reduced by 100 mm, the conveying power loss can be reduced by 7.2 kW, and for every 100 kN/m reduction in the mass of the cargo per unit length, the traction is reduced by 31.9 kN and the transmission power loss is reduced by 38.2 kW. The proposed autonomous control method of abnormal working conditions can significantly improve the conveying efficiency of solid backfilling scraper conveyor, and can help realize intelligent solid backfilling mining.

Abstract. Background:. Due to the wide variety of morphology, size, and dynamics, selecting an optimal valve size and location poses great difficulty in percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation (PPVI). This study aimed to report our experience with in vitro bench testing using patient-specific three-dimensional (3D)-printed models for planning PPVI with the Venus P-valve. Methods:. Patient-specific 3D soft models were generated using PolyJet printing with a compliant synthetic material in 15 patients scheduled to undergo PPVI between July 2018 and July 2020 in Central China Fuwai Hospital of Zhengzhou University. Results:. 3D model bench testing altered treatment strategy in all patients (100%). One patient was referred for surgery because testing revealed that even the largest Venus P-valve would not anchor properly. In the remaining 14 patients, valve size and/or implantation location was altered to avoid valve migration and/or compression coronary artery. In four patients, it was decided to change the point anchoring because of inverted cone-shaped right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) (n = 2) or risk of compression coronary artery (n = 2). Concerning sizing, we found that an oversize of 2–5 mm suffices. Anchoring of the valve was dictated by the flaring of the in- and outflow portion in the pulmonary artery. PPVI was successful in all 14 patients (absence of valve migration, no coronary compression, and none-to-mild residual pulmonary regurgitation [PR]). Abstract The residual subsidence caused by underground mining in mountain area has a long subsidence duration time and great potential harm, which seriously threatens the safety of people's production and life in the mining area. Therefore, it is necessary to use appropriate monitoring methods and mathematical models to effectively monitor and predict the residual subsidence caused by underground mining. Compared with traditional level survey and InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) technology, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) online monitoring technology has the advantages of long-term monitoring, high precision and more flexible monitoring methods. The empirical equation method of residual subsidence in mining subsidence is effectively combined with the rock creep equation, which can not only describe the residual subsidence process from the mechanism, but also predict the residual subsidence. Therefore, based on GNSS online monitoring technology, combined with the mining subsidence model of mountain area and adding the correlation coefficient of the compaction degree of caving broken rock and the Kelvin model of rock mechanics, this paper constructs the residual subsidence time series model of arbitrary point on the ground in mountain area. Through the example, the predicted results of the model in the inversion parameter phase and the dynamic prediction phase are compared with the measured data sequence. The results show that the model can carry out effective numerical calculation according to the GNSS monitoring data of any point on the ground, and the model prediction effect is good, which provides a new method for the prediction of residual subsidence in mountain mining.

Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and their derivatives have been widely applied as electrocatalysts owing to their unique nanoscale pore configurations, stable periodic structures, abundant coordination sites and high surface area. This work aims to construct a non-thermodynamically stable Pt-N2 coordination active site by electrochemically modifying platinum (Pt) single atoms into a fully conjugated 2D COF as conductive agent-free and pyrolysis-free electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In addition to maximizing atomic utilization, single-atom catalysts with definite structures can be used to investigate catalytic mechanisms and structure-activity relationships. In this work, in-situ characterizations and theoretical calculations reveal that a nitrogen-rich graphene analogue COF not only exhibits a favorable metal-support effect for Pt, adjusting the binding energy between Pt sites to H* intermediates by forming unique Pt-N2 instead of the typical Pt-N4 coordination environment, but also enhances electron transport ability and structural stability, showing both conductivity and stability in acidic environments.

Abstract Efficiently capturing radioactive methyl iodide (CH3I), present at low concentrations in the high-temperature off-gas of nuclear facilities, poses a significant challenge. Here we present two strategies for CH3I adsorption at elevated temperatures using a unified azolate-based metal-organic framework, MFU-4l. The primary strategy leverages counter anions in MFU-4l as nucleophiles, engaging in metathesis reactions with CH3I. The results uncover a direct positive correlation between CH3I breakthrough uptakes and the nucleophilicity of the counter anions. Notably, the optimal variant featuring SCN- as the counter anion achieves a CH3I capacity of 0.41 g g−1 at 150 °C under 0.01 bar, surpassing all previously reported adsorbents evaluated under identical conditions. Moreover, this capacity can be easily restored through ion exchange. The secondary strategy incorporates coordinatively unsaturated Cu(I) sites into MFU-4l, enabling non-dissociative chemisorption for CH3I at 150 °C. This modified adsorbent outperforms traditional materials and can be regenerated with polar organic solvents. Beyond achieving a high CH3I adsorption capacity, our study offers profound insights into CH3I capture strategies viable for practically relevant high-temperature scenarios.

Background. Obesity and related metabolic diseases are becoming a worldwide epidemic, leading to increased mortality and heavy medical costs. Our Chinese herbal formula Xiao-Gao-Jiang-Zhuo (XGJZ) has remarkable effects on curing obese patients in the clinic, but the cellular and molecular basis remains unknown. This study aimed to reveal the molecular mechanism involved in adipogenesis in vitro. Methods. Chinese herbal formula XGJZ-containing serum was prepared from XGJZ-treated obesity model rats. The function of XGJZ-containing serum was validated in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. Oil O staining was performed to determine intracellular lipid accumulation in differentiated 3T3-L1 cells. The expression of pro-adipogenic transcription factors was measured to further validate the adipogenesis of 3T3-L1 adipocytes. The contents of triglyceride (TG), free fatty acid (FFA), and glycerin, along with the activities of lipid metabolism-related enzymes (including FAT, FATP1, DGAT, GPAT, ATGL, and HSL) were measured to study the lipogenesis in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Results. XGJZ-containing serum inhibited 3T3-L1 differentiation, decreased intracellular lipid accumulation, and suppressed the expression of pro-adipogenic transcription factors in differentiated 3T3-L1 cells. The contents of TG, FFA, and glycerin were decreased when treated with XGJZ-containing serum, which also modulated lipid metabolism-related enzyme activities. The activities of fatty acid transporters (FAT, FATP1) and lipid mobilization enzymes (ATGL, HSL) were promoted, while activities of triglyceride biosynthesis enzymes (DGAT, GPAT) were attenuated in differentiated 3T3-L1 cells. Conclusion. XGJZ-containing serum has inhibitory effects on adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes, affirming the effect of XGJZ in treating obesity. It provides evidence for the mechanism of obesity.

Abstract Metal–organic frameworks have drawn attention as potential catalysts owing to their unique tunable surface chemistry and accessibility. However, their application in thermal catalysis has been limited because of their instability under harsh temperatures and pressures, such as the hydrogenation of CO2 to methanol. Herein, we use a controlled two-step method to synthesize finely dispersed Cu on a zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8). This catalyst suffers a series of transformations during the CO2 hydrogenation to methanol, leading to ~14 nm Cu nanoparticles encapsulated on the Zn-based MOF that are highly active (2-fold higher methanol productivity than the commercial Cu–Zn–Al catalyst), very selective (>90%), and remarkably stable for over 150 h. In situ spectroscopy, density functional theory calculations, and kinetic results reveal the preferential adsorption sites, the preferential reaction pathways, and the reverse water gas shift reaction suppression over this catalyst. The developed material is robust, easy to synthesize, and active for CO2 utilization.

This review provides a comprehensive overview of the distinguished academic career and scientific accomplishments of Prof. Noritatsu Tsubaki at the University of Toyama. For over 35 years, he has dedicated himself to the research field of one-carbon (C1) chemistry, including catalytic conversion of C1 molecules to valuable chemicals and superclean fuels, innovative catalyst and reactor development, and the design of new catalytic reactions and processes. Organized chronologically, this review highlights Prof. Tsubaki's academic contributions from 1990, when he studied and worked at The University of Tokyo, to his current role as a full professor at the University of Toyama. The academic section of this review is divided into three main parts, focusing on Prof. Tsubaki's pioneering work in C1 chemistry. We believe that this review will serve as a highly valuable reference for colleagues in the fields of C1 chemistry and catalysis, and inspire the development of more original and groundbreaking research.

In order to improve the fire resistance of the substation frame, an intumescence fireproof coating for the base material (Q235 steel and stainless steel) of substation frame was developed in this paper. The experiments of pull-out test, fire resistance test and electron microscope scanning were carried out to observe the mechanical properties, fire resistance properties and microphysical and chemical properties of the fireproof coating or base material. The main conclusions are summarized as follows: The bond strength of the Q235 steel to the intumescence fireproof coating is 1.26 MPa, which is greater than that of stainless steel at 0.506 MPa. Moreover, the variations of backside temperature and internal temperature of specimens with fireproofing coating are apparently different from those for conditions without fireproofing coating. For conditions with fireproofing coating, the backside temperature and internal temperature of specimens increase in the initial stage, while after the fireproofing coating is expanded and the insulation layer is formed on the surface, the rise rate of the temperature decreases. The average thermal insulation efficiencies of Q235 carbon steel and stainless steel are 240.32 min and 223.22 min, while the average values of fire resistance limit are 250.8 min and 244.2 min, respectively. The expansion multiples of the fireproofing coating for the two materials after being heated are between 50 and 60. Furthermore, the pull-out test would cause certain damage to the fireproof coating on the surface of steel components, and the damage to the Q235 steel sample was greater than that to the stainless steel sample. At the same time, the fireproof coating would undergo chemical reactions leading to expansion when heated, resulting in a dense surface and porous structure inside, which could reduce heat transfer to a certain extent.
