Teratomas are one of the most common germ cell tumors, and they usually occur in ovaries. Extragonadal teratomas are rare, especially immature ones. Only several cases of primary teratomas of the uterus have been reported since 1929. Here, the case of an 11‐year‐old patient who had a 6‐month history of sustained abnormal vaginal discharge is presented. Transabdominal ultrasonography revealed a solid mass in her uterus, resulting in the patient undergoing surgery. Examination of PET‐CT scans revealed a mass in the right ovary of the patient 20 days after surgery. The patient underwent a second surgery followed by chemotherapy. This is the youngest case among reported patients of primary immature uterine teratoma, and this patient showed no evidence of recurrence during 2 years of follow‐up. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Recurrent miscarriage (RM) affects about 5% of pregnancies. Etiology of 30-50% RM cases remains unknown. Advanced highly sensitive detection and analysis methods may help solve some of the cases.Methods: Products of conception from 1155 RM cases were analyzed using classic karyotyping. Some cases without abnormal findings were subjected to next generation DNA sequencing (NGS) and chromosome copy number variation (CNV) analysis.Results: Classic karyotyping identified abnormalities in 56.62% of the cases. Of the103 specimens analyzed using NGS, 39 (37.86%) were found to carry "pathogenic" CNVs. Recurrent microdeletions and microduplications were identified, and some with unique distribution patterns.Conclusion: NGS CNV analysis is a highly sensitive and flexible method for detecting genetic abnormalities in RM cases. This study aimed to elucidate the role of long non-coding RNA activated by transforming growth factor-β (lncRNA-ATB) in ovarian cancer and its underlying mechanisms of action. Expression levels of lncRNA-ATB in ovarian cancer cell line SKOV3 and in a healthy human ovarian cell line were compared using reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). The results indicated that lncRNA-ATB was expressed at significantly higher levels in SKOV3 cells compared with the healthy cell line. After downregulation of lncRNA-ATB expression in SKOV3 cells using lncRNA-ATB-short hairpin RNA, cell proliferation, apoptosis, invasion and migration were assessed using Cell counting kit-8, Live Dead staining, Transwell assay and wound healing assay, respectively. RT-qPCR and western blotting were used to quantify the expression of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), phosphorylated (p)-STAT3, and the additional epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins E-cadherin and vimentin in SKOV3 cells. LncRNA-ATB downregulation significantly reduced SKOV3 cell proliferation, invasion and migration, promoted apoptosis, decreased the expression of p-STAT3 and vimentin, and increased E-cadherin expression. Taken together, these results suggest that lncRNA-ATB downregulation can inhibit ovarian cancer cell proliferation, invasion and migration, and promote cell apoptosis. Objective To evaluate the applicability of FRAX, the fracture risk assessment tool published by WHO, in senile population in Nanjing, to predict the fracture risk of senile population in different gender groups in Nanjing, and to discuss the effect of the hip BMD and previous fracture history on FRAX. Methods A total of 1383 senile people were grouped and the personal data including the risk factors were entered with the FRAX tool. The 10-year fracture probability of the hip and osteoporotic fractures was calculated. The results of FRAX in population with or without fracture history and the hip BMD were compared. Results The fracture risk of the female population in the next 10 years was much higher than that of the male population with the same age. Along with the increase of age, the probability of fracture risk of the hip and the whole body increased simultaneously. The fracture risk of the recurrence in next 10 years in population with previous fractures was much higher than that in people without fracture history. Except fracture history, the whole body and the hip fracture prediction showed no significant difference with or without BMD. Conclusion The FRAX tool can be effectively applied to assess the fracture risk of senile population in Nanjing. FRAX tool combined the hip BMD have clinical value in patients with or without previous fractures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Implantation is a highly coordinated event involving both embryonic and endometrial participation. The endometrium expresses a complex array of proteins during the menstrual cycle many of which help to define a period of receptivity collectively known as the "window of implantation.", Objective: Using high-throughput RNA sequencing technology analysis to find differentially expressed genes before and after the endometrial window, and search for key marker genes of the membrane implantation window., Design: This was a retrospective study., Setting: This study was performed in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Taizhou People's Hospital., Participants: Fifty patients with repeated implantation failure in in vitro fertilization were selected and were divided into (1) the normal window group (36 cases); (2) the window forward group (8 cases); and (3) the window backward group (6 cases) based on endometrial biopsy findings., Interventions: Using RNA sequencing technology combined with biological information analysis tools to analyze the differentially-expressed genes in 9 samples. Gene Ontology databases were used for the functional annotation of these differentially-expressed genes. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis was used to draw a signal path diagram., Primary Outcome Measures: (1) Screening of differentially-expressed genes and (2) functional analysis of the differential genes., Results: A total of 22 differentially-expressed genes related to endometrial receptivity were obtained by transcriptome sequencing. Seven of the 22 differentially-expressed genes have been shown to have a close relationship with the endometrial receptive window period. Further, it was proved that the Wnt signaling pathway and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway were closely related to endometrial receptivity., Conclusions: The present study identified a series of key genes and pathways that may be involved in the endometrial window period, providing an experimental and theoretical basis for exploring the personalized embryo transfer program.

Phase analysis has been validated to measure left ventricular (LV) dyssynchrony from resting gated SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI). In 1-day rest/stress protocols, often only post-stress gated data are acquired. The purpose of this study was to determine whether LV dyssynchrony parameters measured at post-stress significantly differ from those measured at rest. Sixty normal subjects, 40 patients with stress-induced ischemia but normal LV function, and 29 patients with LV dysfunction were included in this study. All patients were scanned using a 2-day Technetium-99m sestamibi (MIBI) MPI protocol, where gated SPECT data were acquired at 60 min post injection of the radiotracer. LV dyssynchrony parameters at post-stress and at rest were calculated and compared using paired t-test. There were no significant differences in the LV dyssynchrony parameters between post-stress and resting in all cohorts. No patient showed differences in the LV dyssynchrony parameters between the post-stress and resting scans significantly greater than the reported variations in these parameters between serial resting scans. There was no significant difference in dyssynchrony parameters measured at rest and 60 min after stress on MPI gated images.
