The aim of this study is to develop a bioplastic based on hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) and polyvinilpyrrolidone (PVP) which is applied as packaging materials. The effect of incorporation of PVP into HEC on the physicochemical properties of its blend films are investigated. The FTIR and DSC analysis denote that incorporation of PVP induce the intermolecular hydrogen bonds to occur more intensely. The XRD diffractograms indicate that the incorporation of PVP reduces the crystallinity of the film. The mechanical properties of the films become greater as the PVP content increases, and the optimum composition of HEC/PVP is at 5:3 mass ratio with a tensile strength of 34.8±3.4 MPa; elongation at break 104.3±4.9 %; and an elastic modulus of 0.10±0.02 GPa. The SEM and DSC analysis signify an excellent compatibility and miscibility between HEC and PVP. The incorporation of PVP increase the transparency and hydrophilicity of the film. The water vapor transmission rate of the films is relatively unchanged due to the incorporation of PVP. The TGA and DSC analysis reveal that the incorporation of PVP increases the thermal stability and the glass transition temperature of the film. This bioplastic film could be an alternative for biodegradable packaging material.

Fruit flies are an economic important of pest on horticultural crops. One of the commodities that are affected much due to fruit fly attack is salacca var. pondoh. The number of fruit flies attacking salacca increased from 2018 to 2021. The aims of the research was to study the population dynamics in salacca orchards in relation to climate factors and host plants. The research was conducted from July 2022 to May 2023 in salacca orchards that are members of the Salacca Farmers Association Mitra Turindo in Wonokerto, Turi, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The methods were counting the number of fruit flies trapped in three observation groups with different levels of sanitation and host plants around salacca orchards. Descriptive and arithmetic methods were used to determine the pattern of population oscillation among the three observation groups and differences in sanitation levels and host plants around the salacca orchards. The result showed that population fluctuations of Bactrocera spp. in salacca orchards were correlated with rainfall and relative humidity and less correlated with temperature and wind speed. Fruit fly abundance was lower in salacca orchards with better sanitation and fewer host plants around the salacca orchard.

This study aims to provide empirical evidence of millennials' investment behaviors, considering their risk profiles as a moderating factor. It also explores the financial literacy and behaviors of millennials. Predictions from the Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) suggest that millennials will form the majority in Indonesia's demographic structure, thereby shaping the country's future. The study involved 168 millennials, recruited through convenience sampling, with data collection occurring in June-July 2021. The data was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis and a structural equation model, revealing that financial literacy and behavior significantly and positively impact investing; however, while risk profile moderation affects financial literacy, it does not moderate financial behavior. The study faced limitations, including a sample size of 168 respondents—barely meeting the minimum requirements for SEM analysis—and the geographic limitation of respondents being from Palembang city. Future studies are recommended to explore a broader region with a larger sample size to enhance understanding of the moderating effect of risk profiles in financial planning.

The COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has had significant repercussions for early childhood education. In this article, we begin by discussing the impact of a world health pandemic on education and the challenges of conducting a literature review following the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, we examine the challenges of conducting a literature review on building resilience in young children in the digital era. The four sections categorize the resilience literature into the following themes: (1) defining resilience in young children, (2) powerful play for resilience in young children beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, (3) creative play building resilience in young children, and (4) digital puzzles for resilience: the case of early childhood classrooms in Indonesia. Each of the four themes is presented with a narrative whose content is current, followed by a literary consensus. The article ends with changes to build resilience in young children using creative play through digital puzzles. Digital puzzles as media for creative play support young children in developing skills that will make them happier and more resilient in overcoming daily hardships. Young children can become individuals who successfully face daily hardships creatively to reconstruct themselves after experiencing bad conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Environmental sciences ,GE1-350 - Abstract
In general, coal mining is carried out openly using heavy equipment to take and move soil in the topsoil area until coal mining is possible to be conducted. As a consequence, the nutrient level is low because there is physical, chemical, and biological soil damage. Bioremediation is one of the alternatives to improve former coal mining land by utilizing soil microorganisms that have a role in soil plant hormone levels, such as auxin-produced root rhizosphere bacteria. This study aimed to isolate and characterize rhizosphere bacteria of legume plant roots grown on former coal mining soil, and to determine qualitatively and quantitatively its ability to produce IAA hormones. The characterizations include gram properties, colony morphology, arrangement of isolate, and cell shape. Then, the bacterial ability to produce IAA qualitatively and quantitatively respectively using the Salkowski method and spectrophotometry were tested. The results revealed that there were eleven isolates of legume plant root rhizosphere bacteria grown on the former coal mining soil that were able to produce IAA hormones with an average concentration of 15.949 ppm (2IA4); 10.762 ppm (4IIE3); 9.700 ppm (ID3); 9.422 ppm (3IB4); 7.970 ppm (2IA3); 7.847 ppm (6IIB3); 7.268 ppm (8IIIB4); 6.804 ppm (IIID5); 6.459 ppm (IE5); 5.379 ppm (7IIIB3); and 5.086 ppm (5IB3). Isolates of rhizosphere bacteria with the highest concentration have the potential to be chosen as a growth booster for legume plants grown on former coal mining soil to increase legume crop productivity.

As one of the alternative forms of Islamic Social Finance, Waqf could be potentially developed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesia, particularly providing a major solution for socio-economic problems, such as poverty, improving education quality, and giving a lifelong learning opportunity, unemployment, and many more. But, unfortunately, due to the absence of a universal standard of Waqf evaluation, the implementation of Waqf in Indonesia has not been optimal. Therefore, this study proposes the National Waqf Index (Indeks Wakaf Nasional or IWN) for improving the governance system and measuring waqf performance at national and regional levels. Through literature review and focus group discussion (FGD), this study develops six factors, namely regulatory (with three sub-factors), institution (with two sub-factors), process (with four sub-factors), system (with three sub-factors), outcome (with two sub-factors), and impact (with four sub-factors). Using the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) involving experts from government, academic, and industry, this study finds that the priority of IWN is a regulatory factor (0.282) followed by institution factor (0.251), process factor (0.190), system factor (0.156), outcome factor (0.069), and impact factor (0.050). The findings from this study will strengthen the existing literature in Waqf and be used to develop the governance system to improve performance.

The number of people who have adopted autonomous vehicle (AV) technology in developing countries, such as Indonesia, remains considerably lower than in developed countries due to insufficient AV infrastructure and a lack of awareness of AV technology. Since the public’s understanding and perception of AV technology is the main obstacle to AV acceptance, it is important to examine the critical factors that can be correlated with a person’s perception of different AV levels. Despite this, the relationship between an individual’s awareness of AV technology in current vehicles and their perspective toward different levels of AV technology has not been studied in great detail. This study aims to identify the ideal AV level at which autonomous vehicle technology can be deployed in Indonesia by using descriptive statistics to analyze the public’s perspectives toward AV technology across the nation. A survey of 629 respondents, a majority of whom were concentrated on Java Island and used their vehicle on a daily basis, revealed that most respondents preferred the use of level 2 AV technology. These results also revealed the relationship between the respondent’s willingness to use each AV level and several critical demographic factors, such as gender, education, employment, familiarity and previous experience with AV technology, offering insight into the preferences of a wide range of people. The study concludes that AV stakeholders, especially the government, should prepare a realistic strategy to support AV adoption at a higher level of automation. Furthermore, improving the general populace’s awareness and knowledge of AVs is important to increase AV acceptance in Indonesia.

ABSTRACT. (Application of nutmeg essential oil (Myristica fragrans Houtt) and its major components (α-pinene and sabinene) as Bio-additives in Beef) ABSTRAK. Nutmeg essential oil (Myristica fragrans Houtt) has been known to have antimicrobial properties. The major components in nutmeg oil are α-pinene and sabinene. The addition of nutmeg oil in beef could protect beef from bacterial contamination. This study aims to determine the antimicrobial properties of nutmeg oil (Myristica fragrans Houtt) and its major components (α-pinene and sabinene) on beef quality. This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design consisting of two factors namely the types of bio-additives (nutmeg oil, α -pinene, sabinene, and a mixture of α-pinene and sabinene) and storage time (1 day and 7 days). The data was analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that sabinene had a higher TPC value of 4.19 Log CFU/g at 7 days of storage than α-pinene having TPC value of 3.19 Log CFU/g and 3.55 Log CFU/g for nutmeg oil. In addition, beef soaked using α-pinene and nutmeg oil and stored for 7 days, can suppress the growth of Salmonella sp to negative, but has not been able to suppress the growth of pathogenic bacteria Coliform, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus below the amount set by SNI. 3932:2008. Based on the results of organoleptic test, beef marinated using α-pinene has a more distinctive aroma of meat and could maintain the reddish color of the beef. Overall, α-pinene and nutmeg oil are potential to be developed as natural bio-additives in beef.

This study investigates the biopesticidal effects of Elephantopus scaber Linn. extract on mortality of Spodoptera litura, Plutella xylostella, and non-target organisms and investigate the impact on S. litura protein levels and soil microbial community structure. The experiment was performed using a completely randomized design. Methanol extracts from E. scaber leaves, at concentrations of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, and 12%, were tested for bioactivity against the 2nd-instar larva of S. litura, P. xylostella, and earthworms. Mortality rates of the larvae and worms were observed. The collected data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by probit and descriptive analysis. The results showed that methanol extracts of E. scaber (12%) influenced the highest mortality rates for both S. litura (93.35%) and P. xylostella (96.65%) with LC50 and LC80 of S. litura was 1.867 and 4.763; for P. xylostella were 4.488 and 7.92, respectively. However, the application of E. scaber biopesticide also influences earthworms’ mortality rate. The 6% E. scaber extract resulted in 60% death of earthworms during a 20-days period. In addition, higher concentrations of E. scaber extracts resulted in lower molecular weights and levels of S. litura proteins. The diversity and density of the soil microbial community also decreased by 6% concentration.
