The differences of volatile odorants of rice at different roasting levels were analyzed by headspace-gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (HS-GC-IMS) using fingerprints combined with principal component analysis (PCA). GC-IMS and PCA could distinguish the different roasting levels of rice and the results showed that a total of 47 representative flavor compounds were detected in four samples from all roasting stages. The aroma components of roasted rice are mainly aldehydes and ketones, furans and pyrroles, as well as a large number of phenols, esters and alcohols, which make up the special aroma flavor of roasted rice. It can be seen that the flavor characteristics of roasted rice can be reflected more fully when the rice is roasted in medium (18 min), and can have more fruit wood, cream and roasted aromas. The PCA based on the signal intensity of the detected volatile compounds revealed effective differentiation of samples from different stages into comparatively independent spaces. Thus, the differences of volatile compounds from different roasting stages of rice were determined, and the flavor fingerprints of that can be successfully established using HS-GC-IMS and PCA.

According to their non-mydriatic fundus photography and fundus angiography results, patients were divided into three groups, ie, the non-DR (NDR) group (n=23), the non-proliferative DR (NPDR) group (n=17), and the proliferative DR (PDR) group (n=21). A control group of 20 people who had tested negative for diabetes was also included. The levels of HbA1c, D-D, and FIB were measured and compared, respectively.Results: The mean values of HbA1c were 6.8% (5.2%, 7.7%), 7.4% (5.8%, 9.0%), and 8.5% (6.3%, 9.7%) in the NDR, NPDR, and PDR groups, respectively. The control group values were 4.9% (4.1%, 5.8%). These results indicated a significant statistical difference between groups. The mean values of D-D were 0.39 ± 0.21 mg/L, 1.06 ± 0.54 mg/L, and 1.39 ± 0.59 mg/L in the NDR, NPDR, and PDR groups, respectively. The control group result was 0.36 ± 0.17 mg/L. The values of the NPDR and PDR groups were significantly higher than those of the NDR and control groups, and the value of the PDR group was significantly higher than that of the NPDR group, indicating a significant difference between the groups (P < 0.001). The mean values of FIB were 3.07 ± 0.42 g/L, 4.38 ± 0.54 g/L, and 4.46 ± 1.09 g/L in the NDR, NPDR, and PDR groups, respectively. The control group result was 2.97 ± 0.67 g/L. Background Neuropilin1 (NRP1) participates in cancer cell proliferation, migration, and metastasis as a multifunctional co‐receptor by interacting with multiple signal pathways, but few studies have addressed the precise function of NRP1 in pancreatic cancer (PACA) cells. We aimed to study whether NRP1 gene silencing involved in the proliferation and migration of PACA cells in vitro. Methods A lentiviral vector expressing NRP1 shRNA was constructed and transfected into human PACA cells (CFPAC‐1 and PANC‐1). The expression of NRP1 protein and mRNA was detected by Western blot and quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction (qRT‐PCR) assay, respectively. CCK‐8 assay, wound healing assay, and transwell assay were conducted to examine the effect of NRP1 silencing on cells proliferation and migration capability. Results Results of qRT‐PCR and Western blot showed successfully established, stably transfected shRNA‐NRP1 cells in PACA cells. The rare earth metal Gd(III), Yb(III), Lu(III), Eu(III), Tb(III) and Ho(III) complexes 1-6 with 2-((2-(pyridin-2-yl)hydrazono)methyl)quinolin-8-ol (H-L) as ligands were synthesized. The in vitro cytotoxicity assay indicated that the cytotoxicity of 1 was equivalent to cisplatin and higher than that of H-L and other complexes towards T24 tumor cells. The mechanism study indicated that 1 caused significant up-regulation of the proteins p27, p21 and p53 in T24 cells and cell cycle arrest in G2 phase. In addition, 1 induced effective T24 cells apoptosis via mitochondrial dysfunction pathway, which was indicated by changes in mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψ), reactive oxygen species (ROS), intracellular Ca2+ and the mitochondria-related proteins (including cytochrome C (Cyt C), B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), Bcl-2-associated x (Bax) and apoptotic protease activating factor-1 (Apaf-1)). Moreover, 1 could activate caspase-3/8/9 in T24 cells. Therefore, complex 1 is a promising and potent anticancer drug candidate.

The transcriptional regulation of aroma formation genes remains poorly understood in the banana. In this work, we found that the expressions of a subset of aroma biosynthetic genes including MaOMT1, MaMT1, MaGT1, MaBCAT1, MaACY1, MaAGT1, and BanAAT, as well as two bZIP genes, MabZIP4 and MabZIP5, were down-regulated when prestored at 7 °C compared to those prestored at 22 °C during the ripening process of banana. Furthermore, MabZIP4 and MabZIP5 were shown to be able to activate the transcription of these aroma biosynthetic genes. Importantly, MabZIP4 directly binds to BanAAT promoter, while MabZIP5 binds to the promoters of MaMT1, MaACY1, MaAGT1, and BanAAT via the G-box motif, implicating the diverse functional significances of MabZIPs in controlling aroma biosynthesis in banana. Overall, this work sheds new insights on the understanding of transcriptional regulatory mechanisms associated with aroma formation during banana ripening.

In preliminary seismic analysis and design of a tunnel lining, compared to the frequently-assumed incident S-wave, analytical solutions to internal forces (axial force or thrust, bending moment and shear force) induced by incident R- (Rayleigh) wave are relatively few. Furthermore, in existing solutions the ground-structure interactions, temporal and spatial seismic response variations are not considered simultaneously. In this paper new closed-form solutions to internal forces induced by R-wave were derived for a tunnel lining. Comparison between the proposed solutions and the ones given in literature were made through a typical problem. It shows that: if R-wave propagates along the axis of a tunnel, the longitudinal axial force, bending moment and shear force on a cross section can reach their respective maxima. The maximum resultant normal stress given by literature may be over-predicted; if R-wave propagates perpendicularly to the tunnel’s axis, the circumferential thrust, bending moment and shear force on a longitudinal section can also reach their respective maxima with the maximum thrust being much higher than that due to S-wave; the P-wave component of R-wave is predominant.

The reactions of mangiferin (H-MF) with Cu(II) and Zn(II) yielded [Cu(MF)(OH)(H2O)]x5H2O and [Zn(MF)(OH)(H2O)]x4H2O. The MTT assay against four tumour cell lines revealed that the Cu complex generally showed higher in vitro cytotoxicity vs. free H-MF than the Zn complex, which may be due to the different bioactivities of Cu(II) and Zn(II). DNA binding studies of both complexes vs. H-MF indicated that they tended to bind intercalatively with DNA. Both complexes also exhibited topoisomerase I inhibition at 100 μM, which could be due to their DNA binding affinities.

In the past few decades, an effective support method, i.e., adopting feet-lock pipe combined with steel frame, has been successfully applied to the settlement control in excavation of many weak rock tunnels. However, the mechanism of this combined support has not yet well been understood, and there is a lack of a general approach to explain it. This paper aims to present an analytical approach to explain and evaluate the mechanism of this support. First, an arch model with elastic supports and an elastic foundation beam model are established respectively to model the steel frame and feet-lock pipe. With the force and deformation compatibility conditions between the two members, the formulae for calculating the deflection and internal forces of the feet-lock pipe are derived. The theoretical support effects of the feet-lock pipe are calculated and compared with the existing studies through case studies. Then, with two cases of under symmetrical and unsymmetrical earth pressures being considered, the mechanical behaviors of the feet-lock pipe are analyzed in detail. Finally, a parametric study of an example tunnel is conducted in detail.

Two metallo-complexes, [Mn(L)2]·2ClO4 (1) and [Zn(L)(NO3)2] (2), with 4-([2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridin]-4′-yl)-N,N-diethylaniline (L) as the ligand were synthesized and characterized. They exhibited selective cytotoxicity against BEL-7404, SK-OV-3, MGC80-3, and T-24 cell lines with IC50 values in the micromolar range (1.28–14.86 μM). Further mechanistic studies showed that complexes 1 and 2 inhibited telomerase by interacting with c-myc G-quadruplex DNA and induced cell cycle arrest at the S phase. They also caused the down-regulation of cdc25 A, cyclin A, cyclin B and CDK2, and the up-regulation of p21, p27 and p53.

In order to decrease the content of heavy metals in the crops soils, a novel method based on using an aqueous solution bearing cysteamine as the key ingredient was studied to extract the polluted heavy metals including Cd, Cu, Zn, Ni and Pb. By using the single-factor method, remediation-related technical index were screened and they are, respectively, applied to the solid material whereby the heavy metals are released and extracted from the solid material. The biomass solution residues remaining in the solid material after the heavy metal extraction procedure is rapidly biodegradable, so that no objectionable traces remain in the solid materials or soils.

In order to improve the process precision of an XY laser annealing table, a geometric error modeling, and an identification and compensation method were proposed. Based on multi-body system theory, a geometric error model for the laser annealing table was established. It supports the identification of 7 geometric errors affecting the annealing accuracy. An original identification method was presented to recognize these geometric errors. Positioning errors of 5 lines in the workspace were measured by a laser interferometer, and the 7 geometric errors were identified by the proposed algorithm. Finally, a software-based error compensation method was adopted, and a compensation mechanism was developed in a postprocessor based on LabVIEW. The identified geometric errors can be compensated by converting ideal NC codes to actual NC codes. A validation experiment has been conducted on the laser annealing table, and the results indicate that positioning errors of two validation lines decreased from ±37 μm and ±33 μm to ±5 μm and ±4.5 μm, respectively. The geometric error modeling, identification and compensation method presented in this work can be straightforwardly extended to any configurations of 2-dimensional worktable.

Seven Cu(II) complexes with 5-pyridin-2-yl-[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]isoquinoline derivatives as ligands: [Cu2(L1)2Cl4] (1), [Cu(L2)Cl2] (2), [Cu(L1)(NO3)2] (3), [Cu(L2)(NO3)2] (4), [Cu(L3)Cl2] (5), [Cu(L3)Br2] (6) and [Cu(L3)(NO3)2] (7){L1=9-nitro-5-pyridin-2-yl-[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]isoquinoline, L2=4-nitro-5-pyridin-2-yl-[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]isoquinoline, L3=9-bromo-5-pyridin-2-yl-[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]isoquinoline}, were synthesized and characterized. Their in vitro anticancer activities against T-24, MGC-80-3, HeLa, Hep-G2, A549 and SK-OV-3 were evaluated. Compared with their corresponding ligands, most of these complexes exhibited enhanced anticancer activities in contrast to their corresponding ligands and copper salt. Among them, complexes 1 and 3 displayed selective cytotoxicity to HeLa cells comparing with normal liver cell HL-7702, with IC50 values of 5.03 ± 1.20 μM and 10.05 ± 0.52 μM, respectively. Complexes 1 and 3 inhibited telomerase activity by interacting with c-myc promoter elements, and therefore exerted their antitumor activity. Furthermore, complexes 1 and 3 could trigger cell apoptosis via disruption of mitochondrial pathway through notably increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψm), increase of the cytochrome c and apaf-1, decrease of bcl-2, and activation of caspases 3/9. Complexes 1 and 3 exhibited enhanced cytotoxicity, presenting synergetic effect after the ligands coordinated to copper(II) center.

A rhodium(III) complex, [Rh(MQ)(DMSO)2Cl2] (1), with 8-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline as the ligand was synthesized and characterized. Complex 1 exhibited cytotoxicity against BEL-7404, Hep-G2, NCI-H460, T-24, and A549 cell lines with IC50 values in the micromolar range (6.52–17.86 μM). Various experiments on the Hep-G2 cells showed that complex 1 caused cell cycle arrest at the S phase, downregulation of cdc25 A, cyclin A, cyclin B and CDK2, and upregulation of p21, p27 and p53. Furthermore, cytotoxicity mechanism studies suggested that complex 1-induced apoptosis was achieved via disruption of the mitochondrial function, which led to a significant loss of the mitochondrial membrane potential, an increase in the cellular levels of reactive oxygen species, cytochrome c, and apaf-1, and a fluctuation of the intracellular Ca2+ concentration. Taken altogether, complex 1 can trigger cancer cell death by inducing apoptosis through a mitochondrial dysfunction pathway.

Using an isospin- and momentum-dependent transport model, we examine the effects of an electric field induced by a variable magnetic field on the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}/{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ ratio in central to peripheral heavy-ion collisions at beam energies of 400 and 1500 MeV/nucleon. It is shown that while the induced electric field does not affect the total multiplicities of both ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ mesons at both the lower beam energy of 400 MeV/nucleon and the higher beam energy of 1500 MeV/nucleon, it reduces (enhances) the emission of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}({\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+})$ mesons in midrapidity, but enhances (reduces) the emission of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}({\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+})$ mesons in forward and backward rapidities especially for the more peripheral collisions at the lower beam energy because of the rapidly transient variable magnetic field at more peripheral collisions and the longer reaction duration time at the lower beam energy. These findings indicate that the total ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}/{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ ratio is still a precisely reliable probe of symmetry energy at both the lower and the higher beam energies, but one should consider the induced electric field when using the differential ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}/{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ ratio to probe the symmetry energy especially for the lower beam energy and more peripheral collisions. Finally, the relative suppression factor based on the ratio of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}/{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ in different rapidities is proposed to be an effective probe of the induced electric field generated in heavy-ion collisions due to its maximizing effects of induced electric fields on the differential ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}/{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ ratio but minimizing effects of some uncertainty factors in heavy-ion collisions.

As the capacity and water head of large hydropower projects become higher and higher, the flow-induced structural vibration of powerhouse becomes a very important problem for the design and operation process. Especially as the water head and the running speed are much higher for the pump-turbine than the general turbine, the hydraulic exciting vibration is very remarkable. In this paper the simulation results of free-vibration characteristics of powerhouse structure for different types were concluded and the frequency behavior of the pressure fluctuation in spiral case and draft tube were discussed. The structural dynamic responses under hydraulic exciting were presented including the dynamic responses of displacement, velocity, acceleration and stresses. Based on the vibration criterion of the powerhouse structure, the vibration evaluation was made.

According to the research status of construction spatial effects in large-long-deep foundation pit: mainly focus on numerical simulation, but theoretical research is not too many by now, a simplified method for calculating the construction spatial effects of large-long-deep foundation pit in cohesive soil was advanced. The soil layers around deep foundation pit were equal to cohesion-less isotropic soil mass by introducing the concept of equivalent internal friction angle. And then, by means of limit equilibrium analysis method combined with soil plasticity upper bound theory and associated flow rule, the spatial effects of two 3D failure modes: tension crack-shear and pure shear in deep foundation pit was studied concretely, and the corresponding formulas of spatial effects coefficient were put forward, also two examples were analyzed. The research results indicates that the method, which can complete by hand-calculation, avoids the defects of low efficiency, high cost and long period in numerical simulation, and the distribution characteristics and value size of spatial effects coefficient could be obtained directly from its calculation results, which can be used as guidance for the supporting structure, construction scheme design and the test points or sections choice in process of information monitoring.

As a novel tubular motor, the merits of transverse flux tubular motor different from other traditional linear motors are as follows: there is no competition between the space requirement of flux carrying core irons and the space occupied by armature windings. It can increase the force density due to the magnetic load and the electric load are decoupled. Transverse flux tubular motor seems to be suitable for some fields requiring high force density. This paper investigates the stator core loss of transverse flux tubular motor. The influences on the stator core loss are analyzed in detail, including the speed, load current, and the lead-lag control load current. Besides, the calculation of core loss in a variable speed reciprocating periodic motion mode is given the special attention. It is proposed a method of calculating the variable speed reciprocating periodic motion of the stator core loss in this paper. In order to verify the accuracy of calculation, the core loss measurement is designed and the comparison results are analyzed.

A one-dimensional Cd(II) complex [Cd(3,4′-bpt)2(H2O)2]·H2O (1) (3,4′-Hbpt = 1H-3-(3-pyridyl)-5-(4-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazole) has been synthesised and characterised using single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR and elemental analysis. In [Cd(3,4′-bpt)2(H2O)2]·H2O, two types of 21 helical chain were formed by the 3,4′-bpt spacers bridging the Cd(II) centres along the crystallographic a axis. These two helices were both in an orderly arrangement with the Cd atoms functioning as hinges to form the one-dimensional ordered helical array. The thermal stability and luminescent properties of the title complex have been briefly investigated.

To determine the efficient cut-off points of fasting fingertip blood glucose test for undiagnosed diabetes mellitus (DM), impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), and impaired fasting glucose (IFG) in community-based residents aged above 45 years old.A cluster-randomized study was conducted from May 2008 to January 2009. A total of 3250 subjects aged above 45 years in two communities of Baoding city received questionnaire investigation and tested for fingertip blood glucose. Those subjects whose capillary blood glucose level ≥ 5.1 mmol/L were subjected to 75 g oral glucose tolerance test. Undiagnosed diabetes mellitus and pre-diabetes were identified by fasting plasma glucose and OGTT. In this study, the cut-off points of fasting capillary blood glucose for detecting undiagnosed diabetes and pre-diabetes were evaluated, using receiver operator characteristic curve (ROC).Of 1351 subjects that having had oral glucose tolerance test, 230 cases were diagnosed as diabetes mellitus (7.3%), 166 cases (5.2%) as IFG, and 204 (6.7%) as IGT under fasting capillary blood glucose as test variable and state variables according to the following criteria. (1) FPG≥7.0 mmol/L or/and 2hPG≥11.1 mmol/L (2) FPG5.6 mmol/L (3) FPG7.0 mmol/L and 7.8 mmol/L≤2hPG≤11.1 mmol/L, areas under three ROC curves were 0.905, 0.633 and 0.719, respectively. The cut-off values of screening for undiagnosed DM, IGT and IFG were 6.0 mmol/L, 5.7 mmol/L, and 5.7 mmol/L, respectively. When cut-off value of screening for undiagnosed DM was 6.0 mmol/L, the maximal sensitivity was 78.0% and specificity was 89.3%. But there were both lower sensitivity and specificity in screening for IFG and IGT according to the best predicting value (5.7 mmol/L) from the ROC curves (50.3% and 28.0% vs. 60.8% and 28.0%).Fasting capillary blood glucose with the lower cut-point of 6.0 mmol/L in screening for undiagnosed diabetes mellitus alone, was relatively reliable, whereas for both IFG and IGT the fasting fingertip blood glucose tests were fallible. It was convenient and could be used in screening the DM at the community level.

To recognize the main risk factors and to provide evidence for prevention and intervention of type 2 diabetes chronic complications.A hospital-based frequency matched case-control study including 200 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) chronic complications cases and 200 controls without T2DM chronic complications was carried out in Baoding city. Relationships between factors and T2DM chronic complications were analyzed by non-conditional uni-variate and multivariate logistic regression methodologies.High C-reactive protein (CRP) (OR = 5.568), dyslipidemia (OR = 4.400), high blood urea nitrogen (BUN) (OR = 4.399), high low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) (OR = 3.594), time of hospitalization (OR = 2.612), grease food intake before developing DM (OR = 2.300), high HbA1c% (OR = 1.747), lack of exercise after the development of DM (OR = 1.672), duration of DM (OR = 1.509), mental stress (OR = 1.427), high-quality sleep (OR = 0.606), well control of blood glucose (OR = 0.517), well control of blood fat (OR = 0.299), insulin injections (OR = 0.155) etc. were all significantly associated with T2DM chronic complications.The main risk factors of T2DM chronic complications seemed to be related to high CRP, dyslipidemia, high BUN and high LDL-C. The main protective factors were insulin injections, well control of blood fat and blood glucose, good-quality of sleep, while the unique risk factors of cardiovascular disease seemed to be high LDL-C and mental stress. The unique risk factors of neuropathy were lack of exercise after developing DM and the amount of sweet food intake. The duration of DM appeared to be the common risk factor and the common protective factor on those three complications was insulin injection.

Dry and wet methods were used to digest Phellodendron grown in Jinxiu Dayaoshan of Guangxi with a high-pressure jar and to prepare the samples. The contents of microelements Cu, Fe, Zn, Mn and Ni and macroelements K, Ca, Mg, Sr and Na in Phellodendron were determined by using ICP-AES. Meanwhile, the optimal digestion conditions were found: 7 mL of HNO3 +HClO4 +H2O2 (volume ratio 5 : 1 : 1) for 4 h. The work condition and the optical wavelength were selected. The RSD was found to be less than 5% and the recovery rates of all elements were within the range of 89.4%-113.1%. The determined results agree with the analytical demand, and also indicate that Phellodendron contains high contents of Cu, Fe, Zn and Mn microelements. It is important to assess the medicinal value and understand pharmacological action of Phellodendron by the determination of microelements in the Chinese medicine with ICP-AES.

In the title compound, [Ni(C12H8N5)2(H2O)4]·2H2O, the NiII atom is coordinated by the two N atoms [Ni—N = 2.094 (3) Å] and four O atoms [Ni—O = 2.063 (3)–2.083 (2) Å] in a distorted octahedral geometry. The molecule is centrosymmetric and the NiII atom is located on an inversion center. Intermolecular O—H...N and O—H...O hydrogen bonds link the complex into a three-dimensional supramolecular framework.

The title complex, [Cd(Paba)(2)]·2H(2)O or [Cd(C(12)H(9)N(2)O(3)S)(2)]·2H(2)O, was synthesized by the reaction of the potassium salt of 2-(2-pyridylmethyl-eneamino)benzene-sulfonic acid (PabaK) with CdCl(2)·2.5H(2)O in methanol. The Cd(II) atom lies on a crystallographic twofold axis and is coordinated by four N atoms and two O atoms from two deprotonated tridentate 2-(2-pyridylmethyl-eneamino)benzene-sulfonate ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. There are extensive hydrogen bonds of the type O-H⋯O between the uncoordinated water molecules and the sulfonate O atoms, through which the complex forms a layered structure parallel to (001).

In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(C(12)H(9)N(5))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, the Co(II) atom, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two N atoms [Co-N = 2.155 (3) A] and four O atoms [Co-O = 2.099 (2)-2.117 (3) A] in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the components into a three-dimensional supramolecular framework.

In the title compound, [Cd(C12H8N5)2(H2O)4]·2H2O, the CdII atom is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by the two N atoms [Cd—N = 2.278 (2) Å] and four O atoms [Cd—O = 2.304 (2)–2.322 (2) Å] in a distorted octahedral geometry.
