Abstract The transit signal priority, as an effective method to address public transport operation issues, has been widely applied. With the continuous advancement of connected technology, research on developing transit signal priority strategies using vehicle-to-everything technology is gaining increasing attention. However, current traffic signal priority studies primarily focus on optimizing bus speeds on dedicated bus lanes, neglecting the adverse impacts of private vehicle queuing on priority strategies, as well as the carbon emissions resulting from speed fluctuations. To more effectively evaluate the optimization effect of bus priority in the absence of dedicated bus lanes, this paper proposes a cooperative control method combining signal control and eco-driving speed guidance in a connected environment. The objective is to maximize the reduction in delays for both buses and private vehicles at intersections and optimize carbon emission reduction. Initially, an Extended Kalman Filter is employed to predict the arrival time of buses at intersections and the signal status. Building upon this, optimal timings for phase adjustments and the optimization bus trajectories are calculated using signal control and eco-driving speed guidance models. Then a Genetic Algorithm is used to solve the model. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed model is verified using Zhengzhou city as a case study and compared against scenarios involving NTSP, TSP, and speed guidance. The results demonstrate that, in the absence of dedicated bus lanes, the proposed method not only ensures the stability of bus operations but also achieves significant bus priority and carbon emission benefits while mitigating the adverse impact of bus priority on private vehicles to a certain extent.

The vibration of the tires significantly impacts a vehicle’s ride comfort and noise level; however, the current analysis of tire vibration characteristics often involves excessive simplification in their models, leading to a reduction in model accuracy. To analyze the tire vibrational properties and the influence of its design and service conditions, a combined modeling technology was developed to construct a three-dimensional (3D) finite element model of a 205/55R16 specification radial tire with intricate tread patterns. The accuracy and reliability of the simulation model was verified through vibration modal tests. Based on the vibration mode theory, the Lanczos method provided by ABAQUS was adopted to analyze the modal characteristics of the tire under free inflation and grounded conditions, and the effects of different inflation pressures, loads, operating conditions, and belt cord angles on the tire vibration characteristics were analyzed. The results indicate that grounding constraints will suppress the low order radial modal frequency of the tire and enhance the lateral modal frequency. The higher the order of the tire vibration mode, the greater the impact of inflation pressure. As the operating conditions change, the modal frequencies of all directions have the same trend of change, and as the ground load increases, the tire is prone to misalignment at lower lateral frequencies. The radial and lateral grounding modes of the tire are slightly affected by the change of the cord angle in the belt layer, but the circumferential grounding frequency decreases as the belt layer angle increases. These research findings offer a crucial foundation for the structural design of complex tread pattern tires, and also serve as a reference for addressing vibration and comfort issues encountered in the tire matching process.

Currently, the preparation methods and basic physicochemical properties of starch-FA complexes have been widely studied; however, no in-depth research on the regulatory mechanism of the digestive properties of debranched starch-unsaturated FA complexes has been conducted. Therefore, six fatty acids with different carbon chains and different degrees of unsaturation were complexed with de-branched millet starch in this research, using the microwave method. Microwave millet starch-linoleic acid complex (MPS-LOA) had the highest resistant starch (RS) content, and the structure and physicochemical properties of MPS-LOA were determined using various molecular techniques. The results indicate that MPS-LOA had a resistant starch (RS) content of 40.35% and the most notable fluorescence. The characteristic UV peaks of MPS-LOA were blue-shifted, and new IR peaks appeared. The crystalline structure changed to V-type crystals, the crystallinity increased, and the molecular weight decreased. The enthalpy and coagulability of MPS-LOA increased, and the swelling force decreased. Additionally, MPS-LOA showed enhanced α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibition, and in-vitro hydrolysis kinetics analysis of MPS-LOA showed a hydrolysis index of 53.8 and an extended glycemic index (eGI)I of 54.6, indicating a low eGI food suitable for consumption by people with type II diabetes. These results provide a theoretical basis for the preparation of amylopectin- and starch-based foods with an anti-enzyme structure and a low glycemic index (GI).

Insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) and ZnSO4·7H2O were chelated to obtain the IDF-Zn. The Zn ion content was as high as 31.25 mg/g, which is a good source of Zn-rich products. The effects of IDF-Zn on metabolism and blood lipid levels were investigated in obese rats. Results showed that compared to IDF and organic Zn (ZnSO4·7H2O), IDF-Zn can significantly reduce the body weight, the levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in serum, improve liver abnormal lipid sedimentation, oxidation stress state, and enhance the immunity of obese rats. Through 16S rRNA results, IDF-Zn intervention decreased the ratio of Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes and increased the abundance of probiotics (such as Lactobacillus, Muribaculaceae, and Bacteroides), and decreased the abundance of cellulolytic bacteria (such as Romboutsia and Clostridia-UCG-014). These results suggest that IDF-Zn can adjust intestinal flora structure of high-fat diet rats, promote liver health, reduce lipid deposits, and ultimately positively impact glucolipid metabolism.

Abstract Background Grayscale medical image segmentation is the key step in clinical computer-aided diagnosis. Model-driven and data-driven image segmentation methods are widely used for their less computational complexity and more accurate feature extraction. However, model-driven methods like thresholding usually suffer from wrong segmentation and noises regions because different grayscale images have distinct intensity distribution property thus pre-processing is always demanded. While data-driven methods with deep learning like encoder-decoder networks always are always accompanied by complex architectures which require amounts of training data. Methods Combining thresholding method and deep learning, this paper presents a novel method by using 2D&3D object detection technologies. First, interest regions contain segmented object are determined with fine-tuning 2D object detection network. Then, pixels in cropped images are turned as point cloud according to their positions and grayscale values. Finally, 3D object detection network is applied to obtain bounding boxes with target points and boxes’ bottoms and tops represent thresholding values for segmentation. After projecting to 2D images, these target points could composite the segmented object. Results Three groups of grayscale medical images are used to evaluate the proposed image segmentation method. We obtain the IoU (DSC) scores of 0.92 (0.96), 0.88 (0.94) and 0.94 (0.94) for segmentation accuracy on different datasets respectively. Also, compared with five state of the arts and clinically performed well models, our method achieves higher scores and better performance. Conclusions The prominent segmentation results demonstrate that the built method based on 2D&3D object detection with deep learning is workable and promising for segmentation task of grayscale medical images.

The existence of tire slip angle and camber angle causes that the test results of conventional rolling resistance tester are often very different from the measured results installed on the vehicle. In addition, the test cost of rolling resistance tester with sideslip and roll is high. To solve the above problems, the effects of cornering characteristics on rolling resistance of complex tread tires were analyzed by finite element method (FEM). The numerical simulation model of a tire with complex tread patterns was established, and the reliability of the established numerical simulation model was verified by the experiments. The response relationships between tire lateral force, sideslip angle, camber angle and rolling resistance under multiple pure sideslip conditions and combined conditions were compared and analyzed, as well as the contribution rate of each tire component to rolling resistance under the corresponding conditions. The obtained research results can provide support for vehicle chassis adjustment and energy saving and consumption reduction in tire structure design.

The effect of fermentation treatment on the surface morphology, crystal structure, molecular weight, chain length distribution, and physicochemical properties of corn starch was investigated using natural fermentation of corn ballast. The amylose content in corn ballast starch reduced at first after natural fermentation, then grew, following the same trend as solubility. There were certain erosion marks on the surfaces of fermented corn ballast starch granules. The crystalline structure of corn ballast starch remained the same, i.e., a typical A-type crystalline structure, at different fermentation times; however, the intensities of diffraction peaks were different. The weight-average molecular weight of starch first increased and then decreased after fermentation. The content of low-molecular-weight starch (peak 3) decreased from 25.59 to 24.7% and then increased to 25.76%, while the content of high-molecular-weight starch (peak 1) increased from 51.45 to 53.26%, and then decreased to 52.52%. The fermentation time showed a negative correlation with the viscosity of starch, and the pasting temperature first increased, and then decreased. Natural fermentation can be used as a technical means to produce corn starch products as a result of the experiments' findings, and future experiments will detect and analyze the bacterial structure of corn fermentation broth in order to better understand the molecular mechanism of natural fermentation affecting the structure and physicochemical properties of corn starch.

Tire dynamics model is the basis of vehicle dynamic performance research, however, due to the limitation of safety and environmental conditions, the six-component physical test can not fully characterize the dynamic mechanical response characteristics of tire under special conditions such as low service inflation pressure, high load, and large range of operation temperature. To accurately describe the dynamic response of the tire under special operating conditions with the magic formula (MF) tire model, this paper combines the nonlinear finite element analysis and the experimental test. The finite element model of the tire is verified by the dynamic characteristic experiments, and the tire dynamics simulation under special operating conditions are also conducted based on the verification results. The MF tire model is modified and the parameter identification is performed for the prediction results to extend the operating conditions of the tire dynamic model. The results of the comparison show that the method proposed in this paper can realize the condition expansion of MF tire model under special conditions.

ObjectivesIn this study, the effects of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-rich sprouted adzuki beans on the glycolipid metabolism and gastrointestinal health were investigated in mice with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).MethodsMice with T2DM were subjected to dietary intervention with different doses of GABA-rich sprouted adzuki beans for 6 consecutive weeks, during which growth indicators, glycolipid metabolism, and the composition and diversity of the gut microbiota changes were observed.ResultsA high dietary intake of GABA-rich sprouted adzuki beans had a preventive effect against weight gain, significantly reduced serum levels of FBG, TG, and TC. Additionally, high dietary intake of GABA-rich sprouted adzuki beans increased the abundances of Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Verrucomicrobia, and Akkermansia, leading to a shift in the structure of the gut microbiota toward the dominance of probiotics with regulatory effects on glycolipid metabolism.ConclusionsGABA-rich sprouted adzuki beans can effectively control the bodyweight of mice with T2DM, maintain a balanced blood glucose level, improve glycolipid metabolism and the changes in the microbiota may mediate the anti-diabetic effect of sprouted adzuki beans.

ObjectivesThe effects of high-temperature, high-pressure, and ultrasonic treatment on the physicochemical properties and structure of soluble dietary fibers in millet bran were studied to provide a comprehensive reference for the utilization of millet bran.MethodsDifferent physical methods were used to treat millet bran dietary fibers, and their microstructures and Fourier-transform infrared spectra before and after modification were compared. The physicochemical properties (water-holding capacity, swelling capacity, oil-holding capacity, fat-binding capacity, cation exchange capacity), total antioxidant capacity, and thermal characteristics were also analyzed.ResultsThere were no significant changes in the chemical groups of millet bran's soluble dietary fibers after modification, but cracks appeared on the surface of the fibers and the structure became loose and porous. Fiber agglomeration was observed, as well as improved thermal stability. After modification, the water-holding capacity, swelling capacity, oil-holding capacity, fat-binding capacity, and cation exchange capacity of millet bran were improved. When compared to the original soluble dietary fibers, ultrasound-treated fibers showed the most substantial improvement in all four capabilities, with increases of 140, 50, 78.1, 65.7, and 37.8%, respectively, compared with the original soluble dietary fibers (P < 0.05). The total antioxidant capacity of the ultrasound-treated fibers was found to be higher than those of the fibers that underwent the other three treatments (P < 0.05).ConclusionsThe physicochemical qualities and structural characteristics of the soluble dietary fibers in millet bran are affected by all three physical modification methods; however, the physicochemical properties of the ultrasound-treated fibers are most significantly improved.

Relevant research results have suggested that fermentation can increase the content of sorghum amylose chains and their retrogradation value. Therefore, this study explored the effect of fermentation pretreatment on the yield, digestibility, molecular structure, and in vitro fermentation property of sorghum-resistant starch by conducting fermentation pretreatment of sorghum and extracting the resistant starch from fermented sorghum with pressure-heat compound enzyme method. The results were as follows. After fermentation pretreatment, the yield of sorghum-resistant starch increased, the digestibility of sorghum-resistant starch reduced, the laminated structure size on the surface of the particles became more uniform, and the stacking mode became more neat and denser. The sorghum-resistant starch prepared before and after fermentation did not produce new chemical groups, and its functional group peak remained unchanged. After fermentation, the weight-average molecular weight of sorghum-resistant starch was elevated, and the percentage content of high- and low-molecular substances increased and decreased, respectively, compared with that of the unfermented sorghum-resistant starch. The percentage content of short-chain branches in the branched chain increased, whereas that of the long-chain branches decreased; the crystallinity of sorghum-resistant starch after fermentation decreased, and the intensity of X-diffraction peak changed slightly before and after fermentation. According to the results of the in vitro fermentation experiments, the fermentation broth of sorghum-resistant starch had the highest content of butyric acid and short-chain fatty acid. Research results reveal that, after fermentation pretreatment, sorghum-resistant starch presented increased yield, more complex molecular structure, heavier molecular weight and more uniform surface morphology, more efficient butyric acid generation, and greater fermentation rate than unfermented sorghum-resistant starch.

The electronic nose is the olfactory organ of the robot, which is composed of a large number of sensors to perceive the smell of objects through free diffusion. Traditionally, it is difficult to realize the active perception function, and it is difficult to meet the requirements of small size, low cost, and quick response that robots require. In order to address these issues, a novel electronic nose with active perception was designed and an ensemble learning method was proposed to distinguish the smell of different objects. An array of three MQ303 semiconductor gas sensors and an electrochemical sensor DART-2-Fe5 were used to construct the novel electronic nose, and the proposed ensemble learning method with four algorithms realized the active odor perception function. The experiment results verified that the accuracy of the active odor perception can reach more than 90%, even though it used 30% training data. The novel electronic nose with active perception based on the ensemble learning method can improve the efficiency and accuracy of odor data collection and olfactory perception.

This paper studies the antidiabetic effects of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) from steam explosion-modified black soybean hull in low-dose streptozotocin- (STZ-) induced type 2 diabetic mouses. Male C57/BL6 mouses were divided into 4 groups: control (nondiabetic, no SDF intake), model (diabetes only), metformin (metformin: 100 mg/kg body weight), and SDF (SDF: 600 mg/kg body weight). Four weeks post-SDF treatment, treatment of SDF decreased the weight gain of diabetic mouses, normalised the blood glucose level, and reduced the serum cholesterol, serum insulin, leptin, glucagon-like peptide, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, arteriosclerosis index, aspartate aminotransferase activity, and malondialdehyde. It also increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, adiponectin, glycopeptide peroxidase, superoxide dismutase activity and repaired the pancreatic injury of the diabetic mouses. Our research results show that SDF has the potential for use in type 2 diabetes treatment.

Black soybean hull was subjected to steam explosion (SE) treatment under different conditions to improve the yield and properties of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) extract. Optimal conditions for SE treatment were found to be moisture content of 15%, pressure level of 1.0 MPa, and treatment time of 80 s. Under these conditions, the yield of SDF increased from 10.20% to 17.49%. In addition, structural and functional properties of SDF from untreated and SE-treated black soybean hull were investigated. Soluble dietary fiber extracted from SE-treated hull exhibited lower molecular weight and improved functional properties, such as cholesterol-binding capacity, when compared to SDF extracted from untreated soybean hull. In addition, SDF extracted from SE-treated black soybean hull showed a rough surface structure, while a smooth surface structure was found for SDF extracted from the untreated hull. The obtained results indicate that SE treatment can be successfully used to enhance the yield and the property of yolk cholesterol absorption of SDF adsorption of yolk cholesterol functional properties of SDF from black soybean hull.

BACKGROUND: As a complex chronic metabolic disease, obesity not only affects the quality of human life but also increases the risk of various other diseases. Therefore, it is important to investigate the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic effects of dietary interventions that counteract obesity. RESULTS: In this study, we extracted soluble (SDF) and insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) from quinoa bran using an enzymatic method and further investigated their effects on lipid metabolism and blood lipid levels in obese rats. Quinoa bran dietary fiber showed significantly reduced body weight, blood glucose level, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels compared to those in the model group of obese rats. Aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase levels were significantly lower in the IDF group, demonstrating that IDF improved liver injury more significantly than SDF, which was consistent with the analysis of liver tissue sections. IDF supplementation significantly improved the oxidation resistance of obese rats by decreasing malondialdehyde and increasing superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase levels compared to the high-fat diet group levels. Transcriptome analysis showed that IDF caused hepatic changes in genes (Ehhadh, PPARα, FADS, CPT1, CPT2, SCD-1, Acadm, and CYP7A1) related to fatty acid degradation, and this result coincided with that of the gene expression validation result. CONCLUSION: Overall, our research offers crucial data for the logical development of dietary fiber from quinoa bran with nutritional purposes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
