Choroid plexus papilloma (CPP) is a rare benign intracranial tumor origin that predominantly manifests in the lateral ventricle in children, accounting for 0.3%–0.6% of all primary intracranial tumors. It is extremely rare to have the CPP in the trigone of the lateral ventricle through the contralateral posterior interhemispheric transfalcine transprecuneus approach (PITTA). Herein, we report this rare case. A 7-year-old girl presented with headache. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain showed periatrial lesions, and histopathological examination confirmed CPP (WHO grade I). The contralateral PITTA is a safe, effective, reasonable, and appropriate for some lesions in the trigone of the lateral ventricle. It provides a wider surgical angle (especially for the lateral extension) and reduces the risk of disturbance of the optic radiation compared with the conventional approaches. The use of multiple modern neurosurgical techniques, including interventional embolization, intraoperative navigation, microscope, and electrophysiological monitoring, make the procedure much easier and more accurate, and the neuroendoscope adds to the visualization of the microscope and can reduce surgical complications.

We synthesized TiO2-NRAs/BiOI-NFs/Au-NPs ternary Z-scheme nanoheterostructure using an accessible preparation method. The ternary nanoheterostructureexhibited enhanced photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance compared to other binary nanoheterostructure. The improved performance was attributed to the synergistic effect between enhanced charge separation and improved injection efficiency. An interfacial charge migration mechanism involving plasmon-induced hot electron injection and transition with oxygen vacancies defects was proposed. The triple nanohybrids showed a higher photodegradation rate for methyl orange (MO). Based on the scheme, the TiO2-NRAs/BiOI-NFs/Au-NPs ternary nanohybrids exhibited a photodegradation rate of 96.6% toward degradation of MO irradiated by UV-visible light, 1.47 and 1.19 fold that of BiOI-NFs/Au-NPs and TiO2-NRAs/BiOI-NFs, respectively. Furthermore, the TiO2-NRAs/BiOI-NFs/Au-NPs ternary nanoheterojunction exhibits the best photodegradation performance under near-infrared light irradiation, with a photodegradation rate 4.3 times and 1.2 times that of the binary TiO2-NRAs/BiOI-NFs and BiOI-NFs/Au-NPs nanoheterojunction composites, respectively. These findings provide insights into interfacial charge transfer in TiO2-NRAs/BiOI-NFs/Au-NPs nanoheterostructures and demonstrate their enhanced PEC performances, inspiring the design of high-efficiency and non-toxic Z-scheme heterostructures for various applications.

The cigarette filter is an essential component of modern cigarettes and studying the flow distribution within the cigarette filter is of great significance in reducing the harm of cigarettes and optimizing smoking sensations. As the object of numerical simulation research, a three-dimensional model of the cigarette was accurately constructed through micro-CT reverse engineering, achieving a scanning accuracy of 4.05 μm. An overall porous media model of the cigarette filter was established to characterize the pressure distribution inside the filter. Based on the three-dimensional reconstruction, a local simulation model of the cavity-filtered filter was created by extracting a 1/36 geometric model. The simulation results of the overall porous media model of the cigarette filter were used as the pressure boundary conditions for the local simulation model of the cavity-filtered filter, and the effects of the wrapped paper and cavity on the flow field were analyzed. The results show that the simulated pressure drop in the overall porous media model of the cigarette filter had a deviation of less than 3.5% compared to the experimental results. This suggests that the porous media model can effectively predict the changes in pressure drop within the filter. When both wrapped paper and cavity were present, the velocity at the interface between acetate fiber and wrapped paper increased by 141.54%, while the pressure approached 0 Pa. Similarly, at the interface between acetate fiber and cavity, the velocity increased by 130.77%. It indicates that both wrapped paper and cavity significantly influenced the flow field characteristics within the cigarette filter. Additionally, as the porosity of the wrapped paper gradually increased from 0.69 to 0.99 in the radial direction, the fluid velocity increased by 14.46%, while the fluid pressure decreased by 29.09%. These changes were particularly evident when the porosity was below 0.87.

Recently, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft have become a top priority for urban air transportation due to their ability to overcome urban ground traffic congestion. In this research, a new type of scaled lift–cruise ‘Dragonfly’ has been designed. The ‘Dragonfly’ combines the characteristics of an octocopter and a fixed-wing aircraft. Compared with the same type of eVTOL aircraft, it has a longer wingspan and a more stable aircraft structure, it can not only take off and land vertically without the need for a runway, but also fly quickly in a straight line and hover in mid-air. In order to ensure the success of the flight test, it was also simulated in this paper. A simulation scenario highly fitting with the flight test environment of eVTOL is designed in the Gazebo simulation platform, and then combined with the PX4 flight control platform, the system SITL of the constructed aircraft simulation model is carried out on the Gazebo platform, Finally, simulation flight test data for accurate analysis are obtained, the accuracy and stability of the control algorithm are fed back, and scientific support for the follow-up ‘Dragonfly’ aircraft hardware-in-the-loop simulation and physical flight test is provided.

BackgroundStatistically, Anterior communicating aneurysm (ACoA) accounts for 30 to 35% of intracranial aneurysms. ACoA, once ruptured, will have an acute onset and cause severe neurological dysfunction and even death. Therefore, clinical analysis of risk factors related to ACoA and the establishment of prediction model are the benefits to the primary prevention of ACoA.MethodsAmong 1,436 cases of single ACoA patients, we screened 1,325 valid cases, classified risk factors of 1,124 cases in the ruptured group and 201 cases in the unruptured group, and assessed the risk factors, respectively, and predicted the risk of single ACoA rupture by using the logistic regression and the machine learning.ResultsIn the ruptured group (84.8%) of 1,124 cases and the unruptured group (15.2%) of 201 cases, the multivariable logistic regression (MLR) model shows hemorrhagic stroke history (OR 95%CI, p:0.233 (0.120–0.454),

Abstract The femtosecond time-resolved impulsive stimulated Raman scattering (fs-ISRS) has been performed to study the low frequency lattice mode dynamics of the RDX crystal. Through Fourier filtering, four lattice mode dynamics is distinguished from the time-resolved spectrum. And the wavenumbers and time constants of these four lattice modes are determined by fitting their dynamic curves. The energy dispersion paths of these four lattice modes are deduced from these fitting parameters. Compared with the other three lattice modes, the lattice mode with wavenumber 30 cm−1 has a very longer life time. We consider that the excitation of this lattice mode more likely to cause the damage of the intermolecular interaction under the strong external stimulation.

The current challenge in drone swarm technology is three-dimensional path planning and adaptive formation changes. The traditional A* algorithm has limitations, such as low efficiency, difficulty in handling obstacles, and numerous turning points, which make it unsuitable for complex three-dimensional environments. Additionally, the robustness of drone formations under the leader–follower mode is low, and effectively handling obstacles within the environment is challenging. To address these issues, this study proposes a virtual leader mode for drone formation flight and introduces a new Theta*–APF method for three-dimensional space drone swarm path planning. This algorithm optimizes the A* algorithm by transforming it into an omnidirectional forward Theta* algorithm. It also enhances the heuristic function by incorporating artificial potential field methods in a three-dimensional environment. Formation organization and control of UAVs is achieved using speed-control modes. Compared to the conventional A* algorithm, the Theta*–APF algorithm reduces the search time by about 60% and the trip length by 10%, in addition to the safer flight of the UAV formation, which is subject to artificial potential field repulsion by about 42%.

Introduction: Polygoni Multiflori Radix (PMR) is a type of Chinese herbal medicine with rich chemical composition and pharmacological activity used widely in medicine and food. However, in recent years, there have been increasing numbers of negative reports about its hepatotoxicity. Identification of its chemical constituents for quality control and safe use is very important.Methods: Three solvents of different polarities (water, 70% ethanol, and 95% ethanol solution) were used to extract the compounds from PMR. Extracts were analyzed and characterized by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-ToF MS/MS) in the negative-ion mode.Results: 152 compounds were detected and identified: 50 anthraquinones, 33 stilbene derivatives, 21 flavonoids, seven naphthalene compounds, and 41 other compounds. Eight other compounds were reported for the first time in the PMR-related literature, and eight other compounds were potentially new compounds.Discussion: This study lays a solid foundation for the screening of toxicity and quality-control indicators of PMR.

To study the corrosion behavior of cement soil in peat soil, the experiment involves the preparation of peat soil by incorporating humic acid into cohesive soil with a lower organic matter content. Cement soil samples are then prepared by adding cement to the mixture. These samples are subjected to immersion in fulvic acid solution and deionized water to simulate different working environments of cement soil. The experiment considers immersion time as the variable factor. It conducts observations of apparent phenomena, ion leaching tests, and unconfined compression strength tests on the cement soil. The experiment results are as follows: (1) With increasing immersion time, the surface of the cement soil in the peat soil environment experiences the disappearance of Ca(OH)2 and calcium aluminate hydrate. Additionally, large amounts of bird dropping crystals precipitate on the surface and within the specimen. The cement soil undergoes localized disintegration due to extensive erosion caused by swelling forces. (2) In the peat soil environment, fulvic acid reacts with the hydration products of cement, resulting in partial leaching of ions such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Al3+, and Fe3+ into the immersion solution. The lower the pH of the fulvic acid immersion (indicating higher concentration), the more significant the ion leaching. Increasing the ratio of humic acid to cement can slow down the leaching of ions. The cement soil undergoes dissolutive erosion in the peat soil environment. (3) The peat soil environment exerts both strengthening and corrosive effects on the cement soil. Cement soil without humic acid exhibits noticeable corrosion in the peat soil environment, gradually decreasing strength as immersion time increases. The strength decreases by 83% from 28 to 365 days. In contrast, cement soil with humic acid experiences an initial period of strengthening, leading to a significant increase in strength in the short term (34% increase from 28 to 90 days). However, the corrosive effects gradually dominate, resulting in a decrease in strength over time. The strength decreases by 80% from 90 to 365 days. This study also explores the strengthening effects of peat soil on cement soil. It identifies phenomena such as extensive erosion and new substance precipitation in cement soil.

Polygonummultiflorum (PM) Thunb., a typical Chinese herbal medicine with different therapeutic effect in raw and processed forms, has been used worldwide for thousands of years. However, hepatotoxicity caused by PM has raised considerable concern in recent decades. The exploration of toxic components in PM has been a great challenge for a long time. In this study, we developed a stepwise strategy integrating metabolomics and pseudotargeted spectrum–effect relationship to illuminate the potential hepatotoxic components in PM. First, 112 components were tentatively identified using ultraperformance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS). Second, based on the theory of toxicity attenuation after processing, we combined the UPLC-Q-TOF-MS method and plant metabolomics to screen out the reduced differential components in PM between raw and processed PM. Third, the proposed pseudotargeted MS of 16 differential components was established and applied to 50 batches of PM for quantitative analysis. Fourth, the hepatocytotoxicity of 50 batches of PM was investigated on two hepatocytes, LO2 and HepG2. Last, three mathematical models, gray relational analysis, orthogonal partial least squares analysis, and back propagation artificial neural network, were established to further identify the key variables affecting hepatotoxicity in PM by combining quantitative spectral information with toxicity to hepatocytes of 50 batches of PM. The results suggested that 16 components may have different degrees of hepatotoxicity, which may lead to hepatotoxicity through synergistic effects. Three components (emodin dianthrones, emodin-8-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, PM 14-17) were screened to have significant hepatotoxicity and could be used as toxicity markers in PM as well as for further studies on the mechanism of toxicity. Above all, the study established an effective strategy to explore the hepatotoxic material basis in PM but also provides reference information for in-depth investigations on the hepatotoxicity of PM.

A facile and universal route has been developed to synthesize yolk-shelled metal oxides@N doped C spheres with controllable void size. Based on this approach, a yolk-shelled SnO2@N dopped C (yolk-shelled SnO2@NxC) composite has been successfully synthesized for lithium-ion battery electrodes. The reported yolk-shelled SnO2@NxC, with SnO2 as inner shell and core, can remarkably increase the volumetric energy density of electrodes. The void between shell and core could accommodate the volume expansion during lithiation. More importantly, the NxC outer layer as a framework maintains the structure's integrity and shortens the transmission distance of charges. The results confirm the much-improved electrochemical performance. The yolk-shelled SnO2@NxC electrode delivers excellent cycling stability of 740 mAh g−1 at a current density of 0.25C after 750 cycles and a superior rate performance of 500 mAh g−1 at 5C (1C = 800 mA g−1). In addition, some other yolk-shelled metal oxides such as yolk-shelled TiO2 and yolk-shelled Fe2O3 have also been directly synthesized through the method in this paper for their proper applications.

The organic soil in the Dianchi Lake area contains much humic acid (HA), and the impact of HA on cemented soil has attracted much attention. In this study, test soil is prepared based on the actual HA content of the soil in Dianchi Lake, and cement is added to prepare samples. Unconfined compressive strength (UCS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive analysis (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) tests are conducted on the samples. The strength development and microstructure changes of cemented organic soil are studied. The results show that (1) cemented soil strength decreases with the increase in HA content and increases with the cement mixing ratio; (2) SEM and EDS tests show that with the increase in HA content, the connection between soil particles gradually changed from surface–surface to point–surface, point–edge, or point–point connection. A large overhead structure is inside the cemented soil, and its integrity weakens with increased HA content. However, elements such as Ca, Si, and Al exist in the pores of cemented soil, indicating that cement hydration products are cemented between soil particles. XRD testing shows that with the increase in HA content, the intensity of the diffraction peaks of hydration products in cemented soil gradually decrease. (3) In general, HA will gradually deteriorate the integrity of cemented soil and reduce its strength. When the HA content is more than 15%, the effect of HA on strength is more prominent. However, increasing the cement mixing ratio can effectively weaken HA’s negative effect on cemented soil’s strength. When the cement mixing ratio is between 15% and 25%, the strength of cemented soil with high HA content can be effectively increased. However, this approach is not conducive to the protection of the environment.

Abstract Background Diabetes is a complex metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia, plaguing the whole world. However, the action mode of multi-component and multi-target for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) could be a promising treatment of diabetes mellitus. According to the previous research, the TCM of Polygonum multiflorum (PM) showed noteworthy hypoglycemic effect. Up to now, its hypoglycemic active ingredients and mechanism of action are not yet clear. In this study, network pharmacology was employed to elucidate the potential bioactive compounds and hypoglycemic mechanism of PM. Methods First, the compounds with good pharmacokinetic properties were screened from the self-established library of PM, and the targets of these compounds were predicted and collected through database. Relevant targets of diabetes were summarized by searching database. The intersection targets of compound-targets and disease-targets were obtained soon. Secondly, the interaction net between the compounds and the filtered targets was established. These key targets were enriched and analyzed by protein–protein interactions (PPI) analysis, molecular docking verification. Thirdly, the key genes were used to find the biologic pathway and explain the therapeutic mechanism by genome ontology (GO) and kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analysis. Lastly, the part of potential bioactive compounds were under enzyme activity inhibition tests. Results In this study, 29 hypoglycemic components and 63 hypoglycemic targets of PM were filtrated based on online network database. Then the component-target interaction network was constructed and five key components resveratrol, apigenin, kaempferol, quercetin and luteolin were further obtained. Sequential studies turned out, AKT1, EGFR, ESR1, PTGS2, MMP9, MAPK14, and KDR were the common key targets. Docking studies indicated that the bioactive compounds could stably bind the pockets of target proteins. There were 38 metabolic pathways, including regulation of lipolysis in adipocytes, prolactin signaling pathway, TNF signaling pathway, VEGF signaling pathway, FoxO signaling pathway, estrogen signaling pathway, linoleic acid metabolism, Rap1 signaling pathway, arachidonic acid metabolism, and osteoclast differentiation closely connected with the hypoglycemic mechanism of PM. And the enzyme activity inhibition tests showed the bioactive ingredients have great hypoglycemic activity. Conclusion In summary, the study used systems pharmacology to elucidate the main hypoglycemic components and mechanism of PM. The work provided a scientific basis for the further hypoglycemic effect research of PM and its monomer components, but also provided a reference for the secondary development of PM.

The organic soil is widely distributed around Dianchi Lake in Kunming, which is rich in the humic group (HG). In order to explore the effect of HG on the strength development of organic soil, this paper adopts the method of adding humic acid (HA) reagent into the undisturbed cohesive soil (blending method) and soaking it in fulvic acid (FA) solution (steeping method) to simulate the organic soil. Then, the effect of HG on soil is analyzed by the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and the scanning electron microscope (SEM) tests. The UCS test shows that HA can significantly reduce the UCS of the samples, and it continues to decrease with the increase of the HA reagent content. FA can substantially enhance the UCS of the samples, which continues to increase with the concentration of FA solution (decreasing the pH value). Under each HG condition, the steeping of FA can significantly increase the UCS of the sample when the content of the HA reagent is less than 10%, and the growth rate of the UCS decreases when it is greater than 10%. With the increase of steeping age, the UCS of the 5% HA samples continued to increase and gradually became stable, and when the content of the HA reagent is more than 5%, the UCS curve first increases and then decreases. The SEM test shows that adding HA reagent can significantly increase the pore size, improve the connectivity between the pores, and weaken the connection of the soil structure. The steeping of FA can reduce the pore size, weaken the connectivity between the pores, and strengthen the connection of the sample structure.

The disposal of peat soil poses an increasingly difficult problem for actual engineering projects of Dianchi Lake area. This study obtains peat soil from seven areas around Dianchi Lake, and the content of humic acid (HA) in peat soil is between 2.36% and 28.13%. Then, this study simulates the peat soil by adding HA into the cohesive soil and uses cement to solidify it. The effect of cement and HA on the strength development of samples is examined by the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) test. Additionally, the microstructures of typical mixes are analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP). The results showed that HA will significantly reduce the UCS of cement soil. The SEM, XRD, and MIP confirmed that cement hydration reaction increases with cement ratio. In addition to the cementitious soil particles, hydration products gradually fill the pores of the soil and effectively reduce the number of large-size (6000∼40,000 nm) pores in cement soil, which makes the soil particle framework stronger. When the cement ratio increases from 15% to 25%, the diffraction peak of CAH and CSH increases faster. Combined with the results of the UCS test, it could be proved that cement ratio greater than 20% weakens the influence of HA on the strength development of cement soil sample.

In recent years, the hepatotoxicity of Polygoni Multiflora Radix (PMR) has attracted increased research interest. Some studies suggest that anthraquinone may be the main hepatotoxic component. Most of the relevant studies have focused on the mononuclear anthraquinone component rather than binuclear anthraquinones. The hepatotoxicity of dinuclear anthraquinone (dianthrone) was investigated in a cell-based model. Next, a method for the determination of six free and total dianthonones in PMR and PMR Praeparata (PMRP) was established using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UPLC-QQQ-MS/MS), which was then used to analyze the collected samples. The data show that four binuclear anthraquinone compounds were hepatotoxic and may be potential toxicity indicators for the safety evaluation of PMR and PMRP. Herein, we provide a theoretical basis for the improvement of PMRP quality standards.

A method combining adsorption with electric field-driven ion enrichment to remove the trace metal ions in wastewater was investigated. Composite adsorbent prepared from chitosan (CS) and sodium phytate (SP) supported into polyethylene glycol terephthalate (PET) nonwoven fabric by nonsolvent induced phase separation was employed and located near the cathode in a pair of titanium plate electrodes. Results showed the removal rate of copper ions (Cu(II)) adsorbed onto CS-SP/PET adsorbent was increased from 56% to 88% for 10 mg L −1 Cu(II) solution when the applied voltage was from 0 to 1.2 V. The adsorption behavior was well correlated with the Langmuir isotherm model. And adsorption process fitted well for pseudo-second-order kinetic equation, suggesting that chemical adsorption was rate-limiting step. And the energy consumption was economical, about 4.35 × 10 −3 kW·h for 1 m 3 of water with 10 mg L −1 Cu(II). It was suggested that the adsorption performance for Cu(II) with CS-SP/PET adsorbent was enhanced due to the enrichment of Cu(II) under electric field. This work provides a new way to remove trace heavy metal ions from wastewater.

Mogroside IIE is a bitter triterpenoid saponin which is the main component of unripe Luo Han Guo fruit and a precursor of the commercially available sweetener mogroside V. In this study, we developed an enzymatic glycosyl transfer method, by which bitter mogroside IIE could be converted into a sweet triterpenoid saponin mixture. The reactant concentration, temperature, pH and buffer system were studied. New saponins with the α-glucose group were isolated from the resulting mixtures, and the structures of three components of the extract were determined. The structure-taste relationships of these derivatives were also studied together with those of the natural mogrosides. The number and stereoconfiguration of glucose groups present in the mogroside molecules were found to be the main factor to determine the sweet or bitter taste of a compound. The antioxidant and food safety properties were initially evaluated by their radical scavenging ability and via 7 day mice survival tests, respectively. The results showed that the sweet triterpenoid saponin mixture has the same favorable physiological and safety characteristics as the natural mogrosides.

Obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are highly prevalent and cause numerous metabolic diseases. However, drugs for the prevention and treatment of obesity and NAFLD remain unavailable. In this study, we investigated the effects of mogrosides (luo han guo, LH) in Siraitia grosvenorii saponins on high-fat-diet-induced obesity and NAFLD in mice. We found that compared with the negative control, LH reduced body and liver weight. LH also decreased fat accumulation and increased AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) phosphorylation (pAMPK) levels in mouse livers. We also found that high-purity mogroside V upregulated pAMPK expression in HepG2 cells. In addition, high-purity mogroside V inhibited reactive oxygen species production and upregulated sequestosome-1 (SQSTM1, p62) expression in THP-1 cells. These results suggest that LH may affect obesity and NAFLD by enhancing fat metabolism and antioxidative defenses. Mogroside V may be a main component of LH. However, the exact molecular mechanisms and active components responsible for the inhibitory effects of LH on obesity and NAFLD require further investigation.
