Multiple internal reflection-based absorption-dominant stretchable electromagnetic shielding thin film by incorporating liquid metal grid structure is developed. The device demonstrates high electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (SE) (SET of up to 75 dB) with low reflectance (SER of 1.5 dB at the resonant frequency). The shielding properties of the device can be tuned by adjusting the liquid metal patterned grid spaces upon strain.

The application of deep neural networks for the semantic segmentation of remote sensing images is a significant research area within the field of the intelligent interpretation of remote sensing data. The semantic segmentation of remote sensing images holds great practical value in urban planning, disaster assessment, the estimation of carbon sinks, and other related fields. With the continuous advancement of remote sensing technology, the spatial resolution of remote sensing images is gradually increasing. This increase in resolution brings about challenges such as significant changes in the scale of ground objects, redundant information, and irregular shapes within remote sensing images. Current methods leverage Transformers to capture global long-range dependencies. However, the use of Transformers introduces higher computational complexity and is prone to losing local details. In this paper, we propose UNeXt (UNet+ConvNeXt+Transformer), a real-time semantic segmentation model tailored for high-resolution remote sensing images. To achieve efficient segmentation, UNeXt uses the lightweight ConvNeXt-T as the encoder and a lightweight decoder, Transnext, which combines a Transformer and CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks) to capture global information while avoiding the loss of local details. Furthermore, in order to more effectively utilize spatial and channel information, we propose a SCFB (SC Feature Fuse Block) to reduce computational complexity while enhancing the model’s recognition of complex scenes. A series of ablation experiments and comprehensive comparative experiments demonstrate that our method not only runs faster than state-of-the-art (SOTA) lightweight models but also achieves higher accuracy. Specifically, our proposed UNeXt achieves 85.2% and 82.9% mIoUs on the Vaihingen and Gaofen5 (GID5) datasets, respectively, while maintaining 97 fps for 512 × 512 inputs on a single NVIDIA GTX 4090 GPU, outperforming other SOTA methods.

Objectives In view of the incomplete evaluation of the ultimate strength of I-core sandwich panels in the past, a BP artificial neural network method is proposed to quantitatively determine the influence of relevant parameters on the ultimate strength of I-core sandwich panels. MethodsFirst, the ultimate strength of I-core sandwich panels under axial compression are investigated using the nonlinear finite element method. Second, a BP neural network is constructed to predict the ultimate strength of I-core sandwich panels with different plate slenderness ratios between longitudinal webs, plate slenderness ratios of webs and column slenderness ratio of one longitudinal web. Finally, a formula for predicting the ultimate strength of I-core sandwich panels using the artificial neural network weight and bias method is proposed. ResultsThe mean square error MSE and correlation coefficient R of ultimate strength prediction using the BP neural network method are 0.001 2 and 0.981 8 respectively. The proposed neural network model has good prediction accuracy, and the maximum error is less than 10%. ConclusionsThis study can provide references for the application of I-core sandwich panels in hull structures.

Genome engineering of Rhodococcus opacus PD630, an important microorganism used for the bioconversion of lignin, is currently dependent on inefficient homologous recombination. Although a CRISPR interference procedure for gene repression has previously been developed for R. opacus PD630, a CRISPR/Cas9 system for gene knockout has yet to be reported for the strain. In this study, we found that the cytotoxicity of Cas9 and the deficiency in pathways for repairing DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) were the major causes of the failure of conventional CRISPR/Cas9 technologies in R. opacus, even when augmented with the recombinases Che9c60 and Che9c61. We successfully developed an efficient single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) recombineering system coupled with CRISPR/Cas9 counter-selection, which facilitated rapid and scarless editing of the R. opacus genome. A two-plasmid system, comprising Cas9 driven by a weak Rhodococcus promoter Pniami, designed to prevent cytotoxicity, and a single-guide RNA (sgRNA) under the control of a strong constitutive promoter, was proven to be appropriate with respect to cleavage function. A novel recombinase, RrRecT derived from a Rhodococcus ruber prophage, was identified for the first time, which facilitated recombination of short ssDNA donors (40–80 nt) targeted to the lagging strand and enabled us to obtain a recombination efficiency up to 103-fold higher than that of endogenous pathways. Finally, by incorporating RrRecT and Cas9 into a single plasmid and then co-transforming cells with sgRNA plasmids and short ssDNA donors, we efficiently achieved gene disruption and base mutation in R. opacus, with editing efficiencies ranging from 22 % to 100 %. Simultaneous disruption of double genes was also confirmed, although at a lower efficiency. This effective genome editing tool will accelerate the engineering of R. opacus metabolism.

Abstract Herein, non‐polymeric thin cross‐sectional wires were fabricated by injecting materials into elastomeric hollow fibers with subsequent drawing. Once materials were injected into hollow elastic fibers, cores were drawn as fibers elongated. Solidifying the core and removing polymeric shell could form free‐standing wires with thin cross‐sections. In this work, two different thin wires, metallic wires (gallium), and SiCN ceramic wires, were fabricated. Although mechanical and physical properties of these wires completely differed, fabrication approaches were identical by drawing materials near room temperature. Solidified wires enhanced mechanical properties of fibers. Thus, fibers could store elastic energy and preserve deformed complex shapes with the assist of solidified cores. Although the wires with thin cross sections are inherently brittle, the relatively low melting point of gallium (29.8°C) allows it to heal easily upon body heating.
