This study focuses on the psychological characteristics and empirically tests of the factors influencing distracted driving behaviours. This information is used as a reference for an intervention on dangerous driving behaviours. First, a distracted driving scale is constructed based on the theory of planned behaviour (TPB). The questionnaires are distributed in Chongqing, China, and 321 completed questionnaires are obtained. Data are analyzed using mean-variance analysis, one-way ANOVA, T-test, and multivariate test by SPSS 26.0 to determine the significance of distracted behaviours and demographic variables. We use a structural equation model to determine the path coefficients of each latent variable. Finally, we select the drivers with high tendency of distraction from the results of the questionnaires, conduct a four-stage rational emotional behaviour therapy (REBT) experiment, and use a repeated measures ANOVA analysis to test the validity and persistence of the intervention method. Results show that subjective norm is the most influential psychological factor. There are significant differences between the experimental group (2.38, SD = 0.41) and the control group (2.89, SD = 0.40) in the scores of distractions. This indicates that the distracted behaviour intervention achieves adequate validity and consistency. Educational research on distracted driving behaviour can help identify and correct drivers with high distraction tendency.

Decreasing the levelized cost of energy is a major design objective for wind turbines. Accordingly, the control is generally optimized to achieve a high energy production and a high-power coefficient. In partial load range, speed and torque are controlled via the generator torque but the rotor torque determines the power coefficient of the turbine. High uncertainties for the uncalibrated low-speed shaft torque measurement and varying drivetrain efficiencies which depend on the speed, load and temperature lead to a torque control error that reduces the power coefficient of the wind turbine. In this paper the rotor torque control error and the impact on the power coefficient of wind turbines is quantified. For this purpose, the variation of drivetrain efficiency is analyzed. An efficiency model for the wind turbine drivetrain is build and validated on the test bench. Then, the influence of the drivetrain speed, torque loads, non-torque loads, and temperature on the efficiency is quantified. Finally, the influence of the rotor torque control error on the power coefficient was simulated with an aerodynamic model. The results show that of all examined influences only torque and temperature significantly impacting the efficiency leading to rotor torque control errors that reduce the power coefficient and consequently increase the levelized cost of energy. Improved efficiency measurement on WT test benches or drivetrain efficiency modelling can reduce the rotor torque control error and therefore decrease the LCOE.

Oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) is a minimally invasive lumbar fusion procedure that has flourished in recent years. However, complications related to the anterior-to-psoas (ATP) approach have been reported. The purpose of this study was to assess the OLIF technique using offset design "Dingo" instruments for the treatment of degenerative lumbar disorders.A retrospective review was performed to identify patients between March 2018 and November 2020 who underwent OLIF with conventional or modified instruments with a minimum follow-up of 12months. Demographic data were recorded. Operation time, intraoperative blood loss, and length of hospital stay were compared between cohorts. Imaging parameters were measured and compared between cohorts before and after surgery. Clinical outcomes were assessed at each follow-up visit. All complications were reviewed.A total of 80 consecutive patients were included. The mean follow-up times for the conventional group and modified group were 14.5months and 16.3months, respectively. The incidence of hip flexion weakness was 27.5% and 7.5% for the conventional cohort and modified cohort, respectively. The modified group was associated with a shorter operation time, shorter length of hospital stay, higher postoperative disk height and better cage position. The symptoms of all patients improved after surgery. At 1-week follow-up, the modified group showed significantly better clinical scores.OLIF with modified instruments and techniques shows promising outcomes in reducing approach-related complications. Additionally, the modified technique is associated with a better cage position, shorter length of hospital stay and less postoperative pain in the early period.

Antigen heterogeneity that results in tumor antigenic escape is one of the major obstacles to successful chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapies in solid tumors including glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). To address this issue and improve the efficacy of CAR T cell therapy for GBM, we developed an approach that combines CAR T cells with inhibitor of apoptosis protein (IAP) antagonists, a new class of small molecules that mediate the degradation of IAPs, to treat GBM. Here, we demonstrated that the IAP antagonist birinapant could sensitize GBM cell lines and patient-derived primary GBM organoids to apoptosis induced by CAR T cell-derived cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor. Therefore, birinapant could enhance CAR T cell-mediated bystander death of antigen-negative GBM cells, thus preventing tumor antigenic escape in antigen-heterogeneous tumor models

The colorectal cancer (CRC) burden is increasingly high. The aim of this study was to investigate temporal and geographical trends in CRC deaths and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) attributable to diet low in fiber globally from 1990 to 2019.Cross-sectional study.The study based on the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2019.The population comprised individuals from 204 countries and territories who were diagnosed with CRC attributable to diet low in fiber from 1990 to 2019.Deaths, DALYs, age-standardized mortality rates (ASMR), and age-standardized DALY rates (ASDR) for CRC attributable to diet low in fiber were described, and estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) was further calculated to assess the burden in different regions, countries, sexes, and age groups. Additionally, we explored the association between EAPC and ASMR/ASDR (in 1990) and Human Development Index (HDI, in 2019).From 1990 to 2019, global ASMR and ASDR for CRC attributable to diet low in fiber decreased slightly, but the corresponding deaths and DALYs increased by 63.37% and 51.36%, respectively. Those burden varied considerably between regions and countries. The burden was higher in high, high-middle and middle SDI regions, especially in Asia and Western Europe, but when HDI0.7, an increasingly rapid decline in ASMR and ASDR was revealed. Unexpectedly, many less well-developed countries within the traditionally low deaths and DALYs regions of Africa, Central Latin America, and Middle East showed gradual increases in ASMR and ASDR.The global burden of CRC attributable to diet low in fiber has decreased over the last 30 years, but remains at a high level. It is essential for decision-makers to take targeted measures for improving population awareness and intake of dietary fiber.

Prior to adoptive transfer, CAR T cells are activated, lentivirally infected with CAR transgenes, and expanded over 9 to 11 days. An unintended consequence of this process is the progressive differentiation of CAR T cells over time in culture. Differentiated T cells engraft poorly, which limits their ability to persist and provide sustained tumor control in hematologic as well as solid tumors. Solid tumors include other barriers to CAR T cell therapies, including immune and metabolic checkpoints that suppress effector function and durability. Sialic acids are ubiquitous surface molecules with known immune checkpoint functions. The enzyme C. perfringens neuraminidase (CpNA) removes sialic acid residues from target cells, with good activity at physiologic conditions. In combination with galactose oxidase (GO), NA has been found to stimulate T cell mitogenesis and cytotoxicity in vitro. Here we determine whether CpNA alone and in combination with GO promotes CAR T cell antitumor efficacy. We show that CpNA restrains CAR T cell differentiation during ex vivo culture, giving rise to progeny with enhanced therapeutic potential. CAR T cells expressing CpNA have superior effector function and cytotoxicity in vitro. In a Nalm-6 xenograft model of leukemia, CAR T cells expressing CpNA show enhanced antitumor efficacy. Arming CAR T cells with CpNA also enhanced tumor control in xenograft models of glioblastoma as well as a syngeneic model of melanoma. Given our findings, we hypothesize that charge repulsion via surface glycans is a regulatory parameter influencing differentiation. As T cells engage target cells within tumors and undergo constitutive activation through their CARs, critical thresholds of negative charge may impede cell-cell interactions underlying synapse formation and cytolysis. Removing the dense pool of negative cell-surface charge with CpNA is an effective approach to limit CAR T cell differentiation and enhance overall persistence and efficacy.

Background: Previously, we showed that gene suppression commonly occurs across chromosome 2q14.2 in colorectal cancer, through a process of long-range epigenetic silencing (LRES), involving a combination of DNA methylation and repressive histone modifications. We now investigate whether LRES also occurs in prostate cancer across this 4-Mb region and whether differential DNA methylation of 2q14.2 genes could provide a regional panel of prostate cancer biomarkers.Methods: We used highly sensitive DNA methylation headloop PCR assays that can detect 10 to 25 pg of methylated DNA with a specificity of at least 1:1,000, and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays to investigate regional epigenetic remodeling across 2q14.2 in prostate cancer, in a cohort of 195 primary prostate tumors and 90 matched normal controls.Results: Prostate cancer cells exhibit concordant deacetylation and methylation of histone H3 Lysine 9 (H3K9Ac and H3K9me2, respectively), and localized DNA hypermethylation of EN1, SCTR, and INHBB and corresponding loss of H3K27me3. EN1 and SCTR were frequently methylated (65% and 53%, respectively), whereas INHBB was less frequently methylated.Conclusions: Consistent with LRES in colorectal cancer, we found regional epigenetic remodeling across 2q14.2 in prostate cancer. Concordant methylation of EN1 and SCTR was able to differentiate cancer from normal (P < 0.0001) and improved the diagnostic specificity of GSTP1 methylation for prostate cancer detection by 26%.Impact: For the first time we show that DNA methylation of EN1 and SCTR promoters provide potential novel biomarkers for prostate cancer detection and in combination with GSTP1 methylation can add increased specificity and sensitivity to improve diagnostic potential. The dynamic balance between pair creation and annihilation processes takes a crucial role to the topological superconductivity in Kitaev model. Here we study the effect of spatial separation of creation and annihilation terms, i.e., sources and drains of pair are arranged alternatively. In this regard, a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian is naturally considered, which may possess complex energy branches. However, when the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer pair (BCS)-like pair excitation is only considered, the spectrum in such a subspace is fully real. In particular, the Zak phases extracted from the pair wave function are quantized and therefore able to characterize the different phases regardless of the breaking of time reversal symmetry. For open chain system, the corresponding Majorana lattice is investigated. We find that although there are complex modes, all the edge modes have zero energy and obey the bulk-boundary correspondence. This results in the Kramerlike degeneracy of both the real and complex levels as a signature of the topologically non-trivial phase., 12 pages, 8 figures

The second genus and species of recently established planthopper family Inoderbidae, Ingensala xiai gen. et sp. nov., is described based on a well-preserved specimen from mid-Cretaceous Kachin (Burmese) amber, and it can be definitely attributed to Inoderbidae mainly based on its head structure, pronotum, and mesonotum without median and lateral carinae and tegmen venation. Ingensala gen. nov. is superficially similar to Eofulgoridium regarding its venation pattern, rather than to the Inoderbidae type genus Inoderbe, and further confirmed that Inoderbidae might descend from the Jurassic planthopper family Fulgoridiidae. The early fork of CuA and the stem CuA bearing many branches also can be found in Jurassic Qiyangiricaniidae and Eocene Weiwoboidae. Ingensala gen. nov. also superficially resembles some Tropiduchidae: Tropiduchinae. The new genus differs from the type genus Inoderbe to a large extent according to its wide head, frons without fastigium, antennae not so elongate, the tectiform condition of wings' position in repose, large, broad and translucent tegmen, triangular basal cell, single CuA1, legs covered with short setae, and the lack of filamentous wax on body. Therefore, two new subfamilies (Inoderbinae stat. nov. and Ingensalinae subfam. nov.) are established for these two genera respectively. The diversification in planthoppers could be the result of pressure of environmental changes during the mid-Cretaceous, and Inoderbidae provides more information for us to understand the Cretaceous stage of Fulgoroidea evolution and diversification.

Purpose: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a disabling neurological condition that can cause substantial cognitive, behavioural, and physical health problems for the individual. Currently, it is a leading cause of death for Canadians. Rehabilitation (particularly specialized rehabilitation) has been shown to promote recovery in those with moderate-to-severe TBI, but not all eligible candidates receive it. We aim to 1) investigate demographic and clinical characteristics of individuals with moderate-to-severe TBI discharged to rehabilitation within 1-year post-injury over a 7-year period, and 2) identify predictors of discharge to specialized rehabilitation for these individuals. Materials and Methods: Patient characteristics were examined by linking their unique health insurance number through databases. Predictors of specialized rehabilitation were determined using logistic regression models. Results: Of 25,095 individuals with moderate-to-severe TBI, 4,748 individuals were admitted to rehabilitation within 365 days of injury between years 2010/2011 and 2017/2018. Most individuals who were admitted to rehabilitation were 64 years old or older (60%). Majority were male (65.6%). The most common cause of injury was related to a fall (61.7%). 13.9% of individuals had a mental health condition at the time of TBI hospitalization. 72.1% were discharged directly to rehabilitation following acute discharge. Mean wait time to rehabilitation was 37.3 (±52.5) days. 7.2% were rehospitalized immediately following rehabilitation discharge. Younger age, male sex, and higher rurality were some significant predictors of receiving specialized rehabilitation. Repatriated patients were less likely to receive specialized rehabilitation. Conclusion: This study identifies key healthcare utilization characteristics of individuals with moderate-to-severe TBI, as well as significant predictors of discharge to specialized rehabilitation for this population. We also highlight potential future research areas relating to these trends. This knowledge will be useful for policy planners and administrators who wish to improve patient access to care, appropriateness of care, and outcomes following moderate-to-severe TBI.

Currently, there are still no convincing clinical models predicting closed lower extremity fracture-associated deep vein thrombosis in patients treated through thromboprophylactic methods. We aimed at using two retrospective cohorts to develop and externally verify a clinical prediction model for deep vein thrombosis in patients treated with anticoagulants after suffering closed lower extremity fractures.We evaluated the patients' pre- and post-operatively, to accurately determine the predictive power of the biomarkers and clinical risk factors. Two retrospective cohorts were used for the development and external verification of a pre-operative clinical prediction model (development: n = 2,253; verification: n = 833) and post-operative clinical prediction model (development: n = 1,422; verification: n = 449), respectively.The C-indices were used to show the predicted incidence of objective thrombosis at the pre- and post-operative stage, which were then compared with the observed incidence of thrombosis in both cohorts. Biomarkers and clinical indicators were included in pre- and post-operative nomograms, which were adequately calibrated in both cohorts. The cross-validated C-indices of the pre- and post-operative clinical prediction models in the verification cohort were 0.706 (95% Cl, 0.67-0.74) and 0.875 (95% Cl, 0.84-0.91), respectively.We present our findings of novel pre- and post-operative nomograms for the prediction of deep venous thrombosis in patients who received thromboprophylaxis after suffering closed lower extremity fractures.

There is a continuous demand for high-power, high-efficiency, and high-density converters in various existing and emerging applications such as large motor drives, electric vehicles, more electric aircraft, and utility applications. Compared with conventional silicon (Si) insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs), silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs can have lower switching loss and higher frequency operation capabilities, which enables higher efficiency and higher power density at the converter level. Meanwhile, to achieve a high power rating such as 500 kW, how to extend the current capabilities of existing SiC power modules, the choice of parallel schemes, the selection of passive components, cooling and mechanical structure design pose clear challenges in maximizing the system power density and efficiency. This article presents a comprehensive design of the world-first air-cooled 500 kW SiC dc/ac three-phase converter, which achieves a record-high power density of 1.246 MW/m3 (1.246 kW/L) and an efficiency over 98.5%. The converter has been tested in the experiment to the full power rating, which provides benchmark results for high power SiC converters and their applications.

Osteoporosis is a complex multifactorial disease that can lead to an increased risk of fracture. However, selective and effective osteoporosis drugs are still lacking. We showed that Asperosaponin VI (AVI) has the implications to be further developed as an alternative supplement for the prevention and treatment of bone loss. AVI has been found to have beneficial effects on metabolic diseases such as bone loss, obesity, and atherosclerosis. Our study was designed to determine the effect and mechanism of action of AVI against bone loss through regulating microbial dysbiosis. A hindlimb unloading mouse model was established to determine the effect of AVI on bone microarchitecture, gut microbiota, and serum metabolites. Eighteen female C57BL/6 J mice were divided into three groups: control, hindlimb unloading with vehicle (HLU), and hindlimb unloading treated with AVI (HLU-AVI, 200 mg/kg/day). AVI was administrated orally for 4 weeks. The results demonstrated that AVI improved the bone microstructure by reversing the decrease in bone volume fraction and trabecular number, and the increase in trabecular separation and structure model index of cancellous bone in hindlimb suspension mice. The results of 16sRNA gene sequencing suggested that the therapeutic effect of AVI on bone loss may be achieved through it regulating the gut microbiota, especially certain specific microorganisms. Combined with the analysis of ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and serum metabolome results, it could be speculated that AVI played an important role in adjusting the balance of bone metabolism by influencing specific flora such as Clostridium and its metabolites to regulate the 5-hydroxytryptophan pathway. The study explored the novel mechanism of AVI against osteoporosis, and has implications for the further development of AVI as an alternative supplement for the prevention and treatment of bone loss.

We show that a resonant pulsed field can induce a steady superconducting state even in the deep Mott insulating phase of the dimerized Hubbard model. The superconductivity found here in the non-equilibrium steady state is due to the $\eta $-pairing mechanism, characterized by the existence of the off-diagonal long-range order (ODLRO), and is absent in the ground-state phase diagram. The key of the scheme lies in the generation of the field-induced charge density wave (CDW) state that is from the valence bond solid. The dynamics of this state resides in the highly-excited subspace of dimerized Hubbard model and is dominated by a $\eta $-spin ferromagnetic model. The decay of such long-living excitation is suppressed because of energy conservation. We also develop a dynamical method to detect the ODLRO of the non-equilibrium steady state. Our finding demonstrates that the non-equilibrium many-body dynamics induced by the interplay between the resonant external field and electron-electron interaction is an alternative pathway to access a new exotic quantum state, and also provides an alternative mechanism for enhancing superconductivity., Comment: 13 pages, 9 figures

In this paper, a new robust computational method that applies the geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) in conjunction with the ray tracing (RT) technique is developed to evaluate the electromagnetic scattering pattern due to a plane wave represented as beam of parallel rays incident on a rough surface of quite arbitrary statistical parameters. The development of the proposed technique is explained in detail taking into consideration the generation of the geometrical model of the rough surface. The Fresnel reflection model is applied under the assumption of arbitrary electrical and optical properties of the rough surface material. Also the polarization of the plane wave primarily incident on the rough surface is taken into consideration. The algorithm developed in the present work accounts for multiple bounces of an incident ray and, hence, it can be considered arbitrary higher-order GTD-RT technique. The accuracy of the obtained results is verified through the comparison with the experimental measurements of the scattering pattern of a light beam incident on rough sheets with specific statistical properties. The numerical results of the present work are concerned with investigating the dependence of the scattering pattern on the surface roughness, refractive index, angle of incidence, and the resolution of the geometric model of the rough surface. Also, it is shown that, for limited resolution of the rough surface model, the accuracy of the calculated scattered field depends on the angle of incidence of the primary beam and the surface roughness.

One step facile synthesis of micro CuO crystals is carried out by hydrothermal method. The porous lithium foil/Li-graphite is used as the anode for CuO-Li ion full battery. The micro CuO crystals are characterized by scanning electron micro porousscopy, X-ray powder diffractometer, Fourier Transform infrared spectrometer, thermogravimeter and differential scanning calorimeter. The battery with porous lithium foil/graphite anode is tested by the galvanostatic current charge-discharge technology at higher current densities of 0.25～0.5 mA/cm2. The porous lithium foil-graphite anode can effectively improve the discharge capacity of the CuO crystal battery.

As a convenient and effective surface modification approach, non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma (NTAPP)can be used to improve dentin bonding, and has recently become a research focus. Studies have shown that NTAPP can alter dentin surface properties, improve the penetration and polymerization of adhesives, stimulate the cross-linking of collagen, and change the micro-morphology and element content of dentin surface, thus improve the dentin bonding quality. This article introduces the current research progress in the application of NTAPP in the field of dentin bonding, in order to provide innovative information for future research in optimization of the quality of dentin bonding.低温常压等离子体（non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma，NTAPP）是一种简便、有效的表面改性技术，近年成为提高牙本质粘接质量的研究热点。NTAPP能通过改变牙本质表面性质促进粘接剂渗透及聚合、促进胶原交联以及改变牙本质表面微观形貌和元素含量，改善牙本质粘接质量。本文就NTAPP于牙本质粘接领域的应用进展作一综述，以期为牙本质粘接的优化研究提供参考。.
