Abstract

In this work, we proposed a new method called conformable fractional double Laplace–Sumudu transform decomposition method (CFDLSTDM) to solve fractional partial differential equations (FPDEs).This method is a combination of the Laplace–Sumudu transform method and the Adomian decomposition method. Besides, we presented some excellent properties and results of conformable double Laplace–Sumudu transform (CDLST). Illustrative examples results are given to show that the CFDLSTDM is an effective and accurate approach for fractional partial differential equations.

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of prophylactic modified donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) early after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) to prevent the relapse of patients with high-risk acute leukemia. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 62 patients with high-risk acute leukemia, who underwent allo-HSCT and received prophylactic modified DLI in our center between January 1, 2013 and June 30, 2017. All the patients received infusion of recombinant human colony-stimulating factor-primed peripheral blood progenitor cells and short-term immunosuppressant therapy with low-dose closporine A in complete remission (CR) to prevent graft versus host disease (GVHD). Results At a median time of 105.5 (59~355) days after the transplantation, the 62 patients received prophylactic modified DLI of a median of 3.95 (0.4~7.6)×107/kg CD3+ cells. The patients were followed up for 3.4~64.7 months (median 33.2 months), during which 41 patients were alive with CR, 17 had relapses, and 21 died. The 3-year probability of overall survival (OS) and leukemia-free survival (LFS) was 69.6% and 63.6% and the 3-year cumulative incidences of relapse and non-relapse mortality (NRM) were 29.7% and 6.7% in these patients, respectively. The incidences of grades Ⅱ~Ⅳ and Ⅲ~Ⅳ acute GVHD at 100 d after DLI were 22.6% and 11.3%, respectively, and the 3-year cumulative incidence of moderate and severe chronic GVHD was 32.9%; the 3-year cumulative GVHD-free and relapse-free survival (GRFS) was 31.7% in these patients. Conclusion In patients with high-risk acute leukemia, prophylactic modified DLI early after allo-HSCT is effective for preventing relapse without increasing the incidences of GVHD morbidity or NRM.

Abstract

In recent years, distributed machine learning has garnered significant attention. However, privacy continues to be an unresolved issue within this field. Multi-key homomorphic encryption over torus (MKTFHE) is one of the promising candidates for addressing this concern. Nevertheless, there may be security risks in the decryption of MKTFHE. Moreover, to our best known, the latest works about MKTFHE only support Boolean operation and linear operation which cannot directly compute the non-linear function like Sigmoid. Therefore, it is still hard to perform common machine learning such as logistic regression and neural networks in high performance. In this paper, we first discover a possible attack on the existing distributed decryption protocol for MKTFHE and subsequently introduce secret sharing to propose a securer one. Next, we design a new MKTFHE-friendly activation function via \emph{homogenizer} and \emph{compare quads}. Finally, we utilize them to implement logistic regression and neural network training in MKTFHE. Comparing the efficiency and accuracy between using Taylor polynomials of Sigmoid and our proposed function as an activation function, the experiments show that the efficiency of our function is 10 times higher than using 7-order Taylor polynomials straightly and the accuracy of the training model is similar to using a high-order polynomial as an activation function scheme.

49. How Do Teaching Quality and Pedagogical Practice Enhance Vocational Student Engagement? A Mixed-Method Classroom Observation Approach

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate vocational teaching behaviours in facilitating pedagogical practice concerning students' classroom engagement. Design/methodology/approach: A mixed-method approach with quantitative classroom observations and qualitative field notes was conducted at two higher vocational institutions in Guangdong province, south of China. Sixty lesson observations were rated combining with supplementary field notes from 20 teacher participants analysed through a comparative coding process. Findings: Means of dimensions of teaching behaviours and student engagement were calculated based on taking the averages of the means of items theoretically associated with each dimension. Through thematic analysis of observational notes, vocational instructions and students' engagement in vocational learning environment were more diversified in terms of vocational teaching practice, which manifested that vocational teaching behaviours focused more on adjusting students' practical learning. Research limitations: The limitation is shown that the quantitative sample is small, yet affords greater depth of data for further discussion. Originality/value: This study develops its setting and orientation by applying the classroom observation instrument into the Chinese high vocational context and offers more in-depth insights and exploration of the characteristics of teaching practice in vocational classrooms.
