The raw liquid and the bio-treatment（MBR） effluent of landfill leachate were irradiated using electron beam（EB） technology. The effect of EB irradiation on the molecular weight，organic composition of pollutants in the landfill leachate，as well as the improvement of biodegradability were investigated. Results showed that EB irradiation coupled with the coagulation process achieved a good COD removal of landfill leachate. Furthermore，the macromolecular organic pollutants（molecular weight >100 ku） in the leachate solution could be destroyed while some small molecular weight organics（molecular weight，0.5-1 ku） would be polymerized during the EB irradiation. Additionally，EB irradiation could effectively remove macromolecular humus in the bio-treatment effluent of the leachate and transform them to small molecular weight organic compounds which would enhance the biodegradability of the landfill leachate.

To study the effectiveness of electron-beam sterilization of medical waste, medical wastes were irradiated with different doses of an electron beam, and Bacillus pumilus and Bacillus atrophaeus were used as microbial indicators.Microbial counting was used to analyze the effects of the absorbed dose and medical waste material on the inactivation of microorganisms. The results showed that the absorbed dose was linearly correlated with the logarithm of the total number of viable microbial colonies; the D10 values of Bacillus pumilus and Bacillus atrophaeus were 2.45 kGy and 1.22 kGy,respectively.When the absorbed dose was 15 kGy, the killing logarithm of Bacillus pumilus and Bacillus atrophaeus on the medical waste simulants reached 6, thereby meeting the current technical requirements for the microwave and chemical disinfection of medical waste.

Tailoring the absorption/emission through nanostructures from broadband to narrowband has attracted increasing attention due to the merits of high efficiency and compactness. However, most of the reported narrowband emitters require either complex fabrication process or thick coating of the suitable materials (~mm). In this paper, by exciting Berreman mode through a combination of Au mirrors and ultra‐thin layers of low‐loss uniaxial/biaxial anisotropic 2D van der Waals polar crystal hBN/α‐MoO3, a narrowband absorption/emission peak is realized in the mid‐infrared region. The measured quality‐factor of Berreman mode for hBN/Au and α‐MoO3/Au structure can reach up to 134 and 164, respectively. The deep subwavelength thickness (~nm) and bilayer architecture simplify the fabrication process. Furthermore, taking advantage of the in‐plane birefringence originating from α‐MoO3, the polarization of the absorbed/emitted radiation can be controlled through this planar configuration. Such ultrathin narrowband absorbers/emitters provide new opportunities for the advancements in thermal sources, infrared sensors, and thermophotovoltaic power generation systems. Spatially resolved dynamically reconfigurable control of thermal emission has comprehensive implications for fundamental science and technological applications, such as thermal camouflage and adaptive radiative heating/cooling. Materials and systems that can spatially control thermal emission with dynamic reconfigurability, simple manufacturability, and a large dynamic range have not been explored, so far. Here, a spatially resolved thermal emission control platform consisting of three components (a VO2 material with phase transition hysteresis, a thermal photonic device with a field‐optimized planarized structure, and an optically controllable patterning system) is built and validated. This platform presents excellent merits such as spatially resolved control of thermal emission, multilevel (up to nine levels) emission control with a large dynamic range of the emissivity modulation (0.19 for the insulating phase and 0.91 for the metallic phase) over a broad bandwidth (8–14 µm), and robust reconfigurability.
