Abstract

The impact characteristics and residual compressive strength of the honeycomb sandwich structure under different impact energies and different boundary conditions were studied by testing and finite element analysis. The Vumat subroutine was used to establish a three-dimensional progressive failure criterion. The validity of the simulation model was verified by experiments. The results show that the simply supported specimens are more prone to damage and the peak force is lower, but the energy absorption effect is slightly better. At the same time, the residual compressive strength of the simply supported sample after impact is relatively low. When the impact energy is low, the boundary conditions have an important influence on the residual compressive strength. The influence of boundary conditions on the residual compressive strength can be ignored when the impact energy is large.

Abstract

This paper focuses on a multi-objective optimization approach for resource allocation based on sleep strategy, aiming to mitigate the interference and improve the energy efficiency in heterogeneous networks. Then it’s converted into a multi-objective optimization problem. The problem is solved by the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm version II. And the simulations show that the proposed approach is superior to the existing one in the aspect of mitigating the inter-tier interference between dense low power nodes and the macro base station and reducing energy consumption ratio of low power nodes.

Abstract

In order to make the heavy oil flow, the repulsion pressure gradient should be larger than the start-up pressure gradient. The results show that the smaller the injection speed is, the smaller the start pressure gradient is, and the subsequent seepage process has a smaller and smoother replacement pressure gradient, and there is an effective limit of the start pressure gradient. Using the non-stationary method to calculate the relative oil-water permeability and water saturation, the bound water saturation does not differ much with increasing injection speed, and the residual oil saturation increases. Therefore, in order to start the heavy oil more easily in the mine production can be started at a lower production rate, the study of injection speed is important for the heavy oil start-up and development effect.

Abstract

Background: Psychosocial interventions have emerged as an important component of a comprehensive therapeutic approach in early-onset schizophrenia, typically representing a more severe form of the disorder. Despite the feasibility and efficacy of Theory of Mind (ToM) psychotherapy for schizophrenia, relatively little is known regarding the neural mechanism underlying its effect on early-on-set schizophrenia. Methods: We performed a randomized, active controlled trial in patients with early-onset schizophrenia, who were randomly allocated into either an intervention (ToM psychotherapy) or an active control (health education) group. Diffusion tensor imaging data were collected to construct brain structural networks, with both global and regional topological properties measured using graph theory. Results: We enrolled 28 patients with early-onset schizophrenia in our study. After 5 weeks of treatment, both the intervention and active control groups showed significant improvement in psychotic symptoms, yet the improvement was greater in the intervention group. Importantly, in contrast with no brain structural network change after treatment in the active control group, the intervention group showed increased nodal centrality of the left insula that was associated with psychotic symptom improvement. Limitations: We did not collect important information concerning the participants' cognitive abilities, particularly ToM performance. Conclusion: These findings suggest a potential neural mechanism by which ToM psychotherapy exerts a beneficial effect on early-onset schizophrenia via strengthening the coordination capacity of the insula in brain structural networks, which may provide a clinically translatable biomarker for monitoring or predicting responses to ToM psychotherapy. 9. To Be Successful and/or Comfortable? Parental Career Expectations and Chinese Undergraduates' Career Indecisiveness across Gender

Abstract

This study explored the association between two parental career expectations (reward/prestige and comfort/stability) and career indecisiveness with the moderation of gender in 523 Chinese undergraduates. We found that women undergraduates perceived lower parental reward/prestige and higher comfort/stability expectations than men. Perceived parental comfort/stability expectations on career indecisiveness were significant for men but non-significant for women. Results indicated a three-way interaction among parental expectations of reward/prestige, parental expectations of comfort/stability, and students' gender in the prediction of career indecisiveness. For women, perceived parental comfort/stability and reward/prestige expectations had a significant interactive effect on career indecisiveness. Perceived parental reward/prestige expectations were positively associated with career indecisiveness only when they perceived higher levels of parental comfort/stability expectations. For men, perceived parental comfort/stability and reward/prestige expectations had no interactive effect on career indecisiveness. We addressed the importance of joint influences of differential parental expectations on young adults' career decision-making across gender.

38. Acculturation in a Multicultural Classroom: Perspectives within the Yin-Yang Metaphor Framework

Abstract

This study examines the acculturation characteristics of Chinese students in the context of a multicultural classroom. The Chinese yin-yang philosophy is used to provide another dimension of interpretation and analysis in addition to Berry's acculturation strategy framework. Qualitative data over a five-year period reveal their changing psychological states in a multicultural classroom. Four stages of acculturation were identified: initial, contact, reflection, and change. At each stage, Chinese students dynamically react and change in the acculturation process, which is similar to the intertwining process of "yin" and "yang," a metaphorical image seen in the Chinese yin-yang philosophy.
