This research investigates if ethical behaviors and personal finances are related using a large scale U.S. random survey called the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1997 (NLSY97). Fifteen indicators covering both ethical and unethical behaviors are compared to net worth for people in their 20s and 30s, who are called Generation Y. Breaking rules, stealing, and being arrested are associated with less wealth in this generation. Results suggest that among people in their early 20s, there is little or no relationship between ethical behaviors and wealth. However, as this cohort ages, a positive relationship between acting more ethically and wealth emerges.

Recent decades have seen a growing body of scholarship dedicated to the college experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer (LGBQ+) students. To date, research on LGBQ+ students offers much-needed insight into their postsecondary experiences and outcomes (Rankin et al., 2019), and large-scale surveys indicate the proportion of LGBQ+ students is on the rise (e.g., Eagan et al., 2015; 2017). Yet, other than a breakdown of the types of institutions at which LGBQ+ students enroll (e.g., public and private 4-year colleges and universities) (Eagan et al., 2015; 2017), there is no national snapshot of this group's demographic characteristics. Given the need for a more comprehensive understanding of the LGBQ+ collegiate community and the implications of such insight, the purpose of this study is twofold. First, it provides an estimate of the first-year LGBQ+ college student population at "specific" institution types using national data from entering college students. Second, it yields new information on the characteristics of first-year LGBQ+ individuals in United States higher education.

How important is intelligence to financial success? Using the NLSY79, which tracks a large group of young U.S. baby boomers, this research shows that each point increase in IQ test scores raises income by between $234 and $616 per year after holding a variety of factors constant. Regression results suggest no statistically distinguishable relationship between IQ scores and wealth. Financial distress, such as problems paying bills, going bankrupt or reaching credit card limits, is related to IQ scores not linearly but instead in a quadratic relationship. This means higher IQ scores sometimes increase the probability of being in financial difficulty.

A study on the impact of intelligence on wealth, income and financial distress was conducted. Results showed that there was no relation found in IQ scores and wealth.

The influence of marriage and divorce on wealth of single and married individual is analyzed from the US data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY79). It showed that married individuals had a rise in their net worth while divorcees experienced a fall in wealth and also that divorced females are more affected than males.

Obesity is a growing public health issue, with a rising number of adults classified as overweight. Although medical research shows being overweight is dangerous to one's health, this research, which investigates young, U.S. baby boomers from 1985 to 2000, finds it is also dangerous to one's wealth. The net worth of the obese is roughly half that of those with normal body mass. As young baby boomers age, peak net worth slowly shifts toward those with lower mass. Boomers with a body mass index (BMI) of 22 in 1985 held the most net worth, but by 2000 the peak shifted to those with a BMI of 17. From 1985 to 2000, for every one-point BMI increase, net worth on average fell $1,000, holding other factors like income constant. The author surveyed a range of ages to answer the question 'do husbands and wives have different views of family financial situations?' The research tracked responses to issues of income and wealth, and perceptions by men and women. The data was then subjected to regression analysis.

This article examines the National Longitudinal Surveys of Labor Market Experience, commonly called the NLS. The article first provides a brief overview of the information available in these long-running surveys. Second, it discusses the contributions of NLS-based research to various topics within the field of economics. Finally, it summarizes topics within the NLS questionnaires that have expanded recently to accommodate the changing circumstances of the cohorts.

A study was conducted to determine the cause of cyclical unemployment using data on employment and stock market prices. The study is limited to sectoral shifts and aggregate demand shocks, the two primary theories which are widely used by economists in explaining the causes of unemployment. The negative relationship between sectoral dispersion and job vacancies indicated that cyclical unemployment is caused by aggregate demand shocks and not by sectoral shifts.

Job vacancies and their summarization hold strategic importance in the estimation of unemployment and its effects, especially in the US and Canada. An analysis of the job markets in the US and Canada shows similarity in unemployment patterns and fundamental differences in job vacancies, revealing the quantity of labor required by firms and the discord between the nature of labor requirement and worker training. Labor availability, crucial for the estimation of a country's economic and fiscal stability, determines the nature of the labor market.

Unemployment in the 16-24 age bracket, as reported by Bureau of Labor Statistics, have been consistently high. This, however, does not accurately describe the situation since different interpretations of the terms employed, unemployed and not-in-the-labor force lead to wrong classification. A re-classification proves this as the unemployment rates decline in every year between 1980-92.
