Crackers are a type of snack that people of all ages like. They come in many different shapes and flavors and are sold in a lot of places. This research aimed to determine the best formulation of crackers using modified cassava flour (MOCAF) and cowpea flour based on their chemical and sensory properties. A completely randomized experimental design with five treatments and three replications was performed. The treatments were MKT0 (100 g MOCAF), MKT1 (90 g MOCAF:10 g cowpea flour), MKT2 (80 g MOCAF:20 g cowpea flour), MKT3 (70 g MOCAF:30 g cowpea flour), and MKT4 (60 g MOCAF:40 g cowpea flour). Chemical content (moisture, ash, protein, and fat), color analysis with a chromameter, and sensory assessment were observed. Based on the results obtained, 70 g MOCAF:30 g cowpea flour was the best treatment, which had 4.70% moisture, 1.76% ash, 8.34% protein, 17.79% fat, 77.59 L*, 6.46 a*, and 26.57 b* values in the color analysis. The crackers had a cream-brown color, a cowpea aroma, a cowpea taste, and a crunchy texture. The panelists also favored the overall hedonic assessment of the MKT3 crackers with a score of 1.60 (like).

Tumor mutation burden (TMB) is a measure to predict patient responsiveness to immune checkpoint immunotherapy because with increased mutation frequency, the likelihood of a greater neoantigen burden is increased. Although neoantigen prediction tools exist, tumor neoantigen burden has not been adopted as a measure to predict immunotherapy response. With both measures, current guidelines are limited to the coding regions, but ectopic expression of sequences in the noncoding space may potentially be a source of neoantigens. A pan-cancer cohort of 574 advanced disease stage patients with whole genome and transcriptome sequencing was analyzed to report mutation burden and neoantigen counts within the coding and noncoding regions. The efficacy of tumor neoantigen burden, reported as tumor neoantigen count (TNC), including neoantigens derived from the expression of noncoding regions, compared with TMB as a predictor of response to immunotherapy for 80 patients who had received treatment, was evaluated. TMB was found to be the best predictor of response to immunotherapy, whereas expression-derived TNC from the noncoding regions did not improve prediction of response. Therefore, there is minimal benefit in extending the calculation of TNC to the noncoding space for the purposes of predicting response. However, it is likely that there is a wealth of neoantigens derived from the noncoding space that may impact patient outcomes and treatments.

This study analyzes and evaluates the use of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), stiff nanosized natural materials that have been modified to mimic heparin. These CNCs are simple polysaccharides with a similar backbone structure to heparin, which when modified reduces coagulation and potentially the long-term effects of solution-based anticoagulants. Thus, CNCs represent an ideal foundation for generating materials biocompatible with blood. In this study, we developed a biocompatible material that inhibits blood clotting through surface functionalization to mimic heparin. Surface chemistry of CNCs was modified from "plain" CNCs (70 mmol SO3-/kg) to 500 mmol COO-/kg (TEMPO-oxidized CNCs) and 330 mmol SO3-/kg CNCs (sulfonated CNCs). Platelet adherence and blood assays show that changes in functionalization reduce coagulation. By utilizing and modifying CNCs reactive functional groups, we create a material with unique and favorable mechanical properties while also reducing clotting.

Summary Resistance to platinum compounds is a major determinant of patient survival in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). To understand mechanisms of platinum resistance and identify potential therapeutic targets in resistant HGSOC, we generated a data resource composed of dynamic (±carboplatin) protein, post-translational modification, and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) profiles from intra-patient cell line pairs derived from 3 HGSOC patients before and after acquiring platinum resistance. These profiles reveal extensive responses to carboplatin that differ between sensitive and resistant cells. Higher fatty acid oxidation (FAO) pathway expression is associated with platinum resistance, and both pharmacologic inhibition and CRISPR knockout of carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A (CPT1A), which represents a rate limiting step of FAO, sensitize HGSOC cells to platinum. The results are further validated in patient-derived xenograft models, indicating that CPT1A is a candidate therapeutic target to overcome platinum resistance. Next-generation sequencing assays are capable of identifying cancer patients eligible for targeted therapies and can also detect germline variants associated with increased cancer susceptibility. However, these capabilities have yet to be routinely harmonized in a single assay because of challenges with accurately identifying germline variants from tumor-only data. We have developed the Oncology and Hereditary Cancer Program targeted capture panel, which uses tumor tissue to simultaneously screen for both clinically actionable solid tumor variants and germline variants across 45 genes. Validation using 14 tumor specimens, composed of patient samples and cell lines analyzed in triplicate, demonstrated high coverage with sensitive and specific identification of single-nucleotide variants and small insertions and deletions. Average coverage across all targets remained >2000× in 198 additional patient tumor samples. Analysis of 55 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor samples for the detection of known germline variants within a subset of cancer-predisposition genes, including one multiexon deletion, yielded a 100% detection rate, demonstrating that germline variants can be reliably detected in tumor samples using a single panel. Combining targetable somatic and actionable germline variants into a single tumor tissue assay represents a streamlined approach that can inform treatment for patients with advanced cancers as well as identify those with potential germline variants who are eligible for confirmatory testing, but would not otherwise have been identified.

Regarding the increase in world population and decrease in fish stock, there is an urgent need to aquaculture practices. Coldwater fish culture is aiming at production and providing a part of protein needs of the country and a way reaching to self- sufficiency and preserve the water resources. Recently, multi- purpose use of water resources potential and especially the rivers of west Azarbaijan, for example, construction of fish farms at upstream of permanent rivers in order to make optimum use of the resources and the increase in employment has been considered . The waste water of these pools is usually discharged into the rivers. Regarding to increased production per unit area due to water resources and cold water fish culture restrictions to use regional facilities and fish farm construction, it is nessacery to determine limits between 2 farms. In this study with the goal of evaluation of the impacts of trout farm effluents on water quality parameters of Pirdanan River, the factors of water current, temperature, pH, EC, TDS, TSS, DO, BOD5, NH3, N-NO2, N-NO3, TP P-PO4 according to standard methods were determined montly during 2014-2015 . Sampling sites were entrance, exit of Maroofi trout farm and the distances of 700, 1400, 2100 and 2800 m after the farm exit. Seasonal sampling of macro invertebrates from mentioned sites was conducted using stone leaching. The family and genus of macro invertebrates were identified using identification keys and abundance of macro invertebrate phylums for each site was determined. The results revealed that the values for water current, EC, TDS, TSS, N-NO3 were significant. the values of water temperature, BOD5, TDS, TSS, N-NO3- , N-NO2-, NH3, P-PO4- , NH4+, N-NH3 were increased in site 2 compare to site 1 in all months and gradually in the river and its self- purification were decreased. In this study, 4 phylums, 4 classes, 7orders and 14 families of macroinvertbrates were identified from Pirdanan River. Ephemeroptera had the highest abundance in site 4; while Diptera had the highest abundance in site 2 (exit). Regarding that most of Diptera macro invertebrates were from Chironomidae, so it can be concluded that site 2 was the most pollutant site and sites 5 and 6 were more suitable condition. Therefore, considering the physic- chemical factors and macro inverteberates indices, 2100 m from entrance, (site 5) is recommended compliance with veterinary organization rules and other conditions of aquatic engineering, environmental and water operation standards. The present study is carried out to investigate the fungal species present in water of Shahid Rajaeii damlake in Sari, (Mazandaran province). Samples were taken from five stations including, Station 1: Input of Shirinrud river, station 2: Input of Sefidrud river, Station 3: The confluence of the two branches, Station 4: dam crest and stations 5: Output dam from June to February 2012. Every sample was diluted by sterile saline (10-1 and 10-2) and 0.5 mL from each dilution was cultured on SD and incubated at 27-30°C for 3-5 days. Finally, the number of colonies wasrecorded as (colony forming unit = CFU) per 100 mL. Identification of fungal agents were conducted by slide culture preparation and stained in lacto-phenol blue. The results showed that in August and February were significantly highest and lowest rates of fungal colonies were isolated from water in different stations respectively. Moreover, the number of fungal colonies in the crown and the output was significantly higher than other stations. The frequency of identified fungi were: Aspergillus species (31.4%), various types of yeast (mainly Candida) (24.2%), Penicillium sp. (19.3%), Cladosporium sp.(10.3%), Mucor sp. (5.4%), Fusarium sp. Self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) is a key component of modern therapy for diabetes mellitus in which the patients and their informal health carers can play a major role. In this paper, a rule-based decision support module is proposed towards developing online compliance index for SMBG in diabetes management in patients who are administering daily subcutaneous insulin injections. The proposed decision-support application is developed and embedded in a mobile health (mHealth) scenario in which the patients' data are collected over a distance and stored in a remote disease management hub for further processing and monitoring purposes. The decision support module utilizes the collected evidences of the day-to-day SMBG and historical data to generate a personalized online compliance index. Patient's attributes relevant to SMBG are categorized into four main groups, (i) glycemic-control attributes, (ii) lifestyle attributes, (iii) mood and well-being attributes, and (iv) complication prevention attributes. A functional prototype of the proposed system is developed and its end-to-end functionality is tested successfully. The proposed system is expected to improve patients' follow up through prioritizing delivery of healthcare services based on their compliance index, especially in situations where available caregivers are insufficient to meet the demand for health care services.

In many parts of the world, groundwater quality deterioration is occurring often due to changes in land use along with overexploitation of some aquifers. Some of the drinking water distributed in Paris (France) is collected from a karstic Cretaceous chalk aquifer at two groups of springs located 80 km south of Paris, in the Lunain catchment. Although geographically close to each other, these springs (Sp1 and Sp2) have quite different hydrogeochemical characteristics. In Sp1, an increase in the NO 3 - concentrations of 18 mg L−1 (from 16 mg L−1 in 1965 to 34 mg L−1 in 2009) has been observed and in Sp2, NO 3 - concentrations have increased by 26 mg L−1 (from 20 mg L−1 in 1965 to 46 mg L−1 in 2009). The origin of the NO 3 - was, however, unclear. The stable isotopic composition of NO 3 - was used to identify the sources causing the increase of NO 3 - concentrations and to assess seasonal variations. The isotopic composition of two potential sources including agricultural effluents and wastewater was determined. Likewise, two additional NO 3 - sources, the chalk groundwater and the Lunain River water, were considered, following the hydrogeological context of the Lunain catchment. Determination the concentrations and the δ15N and δ18O values of spring water NO 3 - and the use of a Bayesian isotopic mixing model SIAR (Stable Isotope Analyses in R) allowed determination of the proportional contribution of respective NO 3 - sources in the springs. In spring Sp1, all the potential NO 3 - sources (4) contributed almost equally during the low flow period, but higher NO 3 - contributions from the agricultural source and the chalk groundwater were observed during the high flow period. For the Sp2 group of springs, elevated contributions of NO 3 - from the agricultural source and from the chalk aquifer were observed during the high flow period as well as during the low flow period. Knowledge of NO 3 - sources contributing to these springs is important for the implementation of remediation measures to protect the water resource and avoid further water quality deterioration.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging computing concept, which fuses the digital world and the physical world by bringing together different concepts and technical components. In this paper, we present a new mobile workflow management system (MWfMS) that handles the service of computer and peripherals repair and maintenance. It allows for (i) submission of service requests, (ii) provision of real-time notifications on work progress, (iii) automatic assignment and distribution of workload among the technical-support staff, and (iv) provision of quick solutions to known problems taken from database, without having to register for a new service request. The proposed MWfMS comprises a physical layer linked by the Internet to a remote workflow management hub (WfMH). The real objects (i.e. system stakeholders and their mobile devices represent the physical layer. The WfMH that hosts the main business logic and data storage is responsible for virtualization of physical objects, and creation and delivery of various management services to the end users. A fully functional prototype of the proposed system is designed and developed and its end-to-end functionality is tested successfully.

Objectives The present study used qualitative methods to: (1) examine the strategies that were used by parents of children aged 5–6 years to manage screen viewing; (2) identify key factors that affect the implementation of the strategies and (3) develop suggestions for future intervention content. Design Telephone interviews were conducted with parents of children aged 5–6 years participating in a larger study. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysed using an inductive and deductive content analysis. Coding and theme generation was iterative and refined throughout. Setting Parents were recruited through 57 primary schools located in the greater Bristol area (UK). Participants 53 parents of children aged 5–6 years. Results Parents reported that for many children, screen viewing was a highly desirable behaviour that was difficult to manage, and that parents used the provision of screen viewing as a tool for reward and/or punishment. Parents managed screen viewing by setting limits in relation to daily events such as meals, before and after school, and bedtime. Screen-viewing rules were often altered depending on parental preferences and tasks. Inconsistent messaging within and between parents represented a source of conflict at times. Potential strategies to facilitate reducing screen viewing were identified, including setting screen-viewing limits in relation to specific events, collaborative rule setting, monitoring that involves mothers, fathers and the child, developing a family-specific set of alternative activities to screen viewing and developing a child's ability to self-monitor their own screen viewing. Conclusions Managing screen viewing is a challenge for many parents and can often cause tension in the home. The data presented in this paper provide key suggestions of new approaches that could be incorporated into behaviour change programmes to reduce child screen viewing.
