We calculate the medium modification factor $I_{pA}$ for 5.02 TeV $p$+Pb collisions. We use the Monte-Carlo Glauber model to determine the parameters of the quark-gluon plasma fireball in $pA$ jet events. Our calculations show that the jet quenching effect for $I_{pA}$ turns out to be rather small. We have found that the theoretical $I_{pA}$ as a function of the underlying event charged multiplicity density, within errors, agrees with data from ALICE for 5.02 TeV $p$+Pb collisions. However, the experimental errors are too large to draw a firm conclusion on the possible presence of jet quenching., Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures

We calculate the medium modification factor $I_{pA}$ for the photon-tagged jet fragmentation functions for scenario with the quark-gluon plasma formation in $pA$ and $pp$ collisions. We perform calculations of radiative and collisional parton energy loss in the quark-gluon plasma with running $\alpha_s$ which has a plateau around $Q\sim \kappa T$ with $\kappa$ fitted to the LHC data on the heavy ion $R_{AA}$. We find that the theoretical prediction for $I_{pA}$ in $5.02$ TeV $p$+Pb collisions are within errors consistent with the data from ALICE [1]. However, a definite conclusion about the presence or absence of jet quenching in $pA$ collisions cannot be drawn due to large experimental errors of the ALICE data [1]. We perform a global analysis of experimental data on jet quenching for heavy flavors for scenarios with and without quark-gluon plasma formation in $pp$ collisions. We find that the theoretical predictions for the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}$ for heavy flavors at the LHC energies are very similar for these scenarios, and the results for $R_{AA}$ and $v_2$ agree reasonably with the LHC data. The agreement with data at the RHIC top energy becomes somewhat better for the intermediate scenario, in which the quark-gluon plasma formation in $pp$ collisions occurs only at the LHC energies. Our fits to heavy flavor $R_{AA}$ show that description of jet quenching for heavy flavors requires somewhat bigger $\alpha_s$ than data on jet quenching for light hadrons., Comment: 15 pages, 12 figures

We study the medium modification factor $I_{pp}$ within the light-cone path integral approach to induced gluon emission. We use parametrization of the running coupling $\alpha_s(Q,T)$ which has a plateau around $Q\sim \kappa T$. We calculate $I_{pp}$ with no free parameters using $\kappa$ fitted to the LHC data on the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}$. We find that the theoretical multiplicity dependence of the ratio $I_{pp}/\langle I_{pp}\rangle$ for $5.02$ TeV $pp$ collisions agrees reasonably with the recent preliminary data from ALICE [1]., Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure

We study within the Monte Carlo Glauber model the influence of collective quantum effects in the Pb nucleus on the azimuthal anisotropy coefficients $\epsilon_{2,3}$ in Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC energies. To account for the quantum effects, we modify the sampling of the nucleon positions by applying suitable filters that guarantee that the colliding nuclei have the mean squared quadrupole and octupole moments consistent with the ones extracted from the experimental quadrupole and octupole strength functions for the Pb nucleus with the help of the energy weighted sum rule. Our Monte Carlo Glauber model with the modified sampling of the nucleon positions leads to $\epsilon_2\{2\}/\epsilon_3\{2\}\approx 0.8$ at centrality $\lesssim 1$\%, which allows to resolve the $v_2$-to-$v_3$ puzzle., Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures

We perform an analysis of jet quenching in heavy and light ion collisions for scenarios without and with quark-gluon plasma formation in $pp$ collisions. We find that the results for these scenarios are very similar, and both of them are in reasonable agreement with data for heavy ion collisions. However, their results become differ significantly for light nuclei. Using the parameters fitted to heavy ion data on the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}$, we make predictions for 0.2 and 7 TeV O+O collisions that can be verified by future experiments at RHIC and the LHC., Comment: 31 pages, 13 figures

We perform an analysis of jet quenching in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC energies with the temperature dependent running QCD coupling. Our results show that the $T$-dependent QCD coupling largely eliminates the difference between the optimal values of $\alpha_s$ for the RHIC and LHC energies. We have studied, for the first time, the influence of the collective quantum effects in the nuclear wave functions on the azimuthal anisotropy coefficients $\epsilon_{2,3}$ in the central Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC energies. With the help of the energy weighted sum rule we demonstrate that the classical treatment with the Woods-Saxon nuclear density overestimates the mean square quadrupole moment of the $^{208}$Pb nucleus by a factor of $\sim 2.2$. The Monte-Carlo Glauber simulation of the central Pb+Pb collisions accounting for the restriction on the quadrupole moment leads to $\epsilon_2/\epsilon_3\approx 0.8$ which allows to resolve the $v_2$-to-$v_3$ puzzle., Comment: 6 pages

We present results of a detailed analysis of experimental data on the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}$ and the flow coefficient $v_2$ for light hadrons from RHIC for $0.2$ TeV Au+Au collisions and from LHC for $2.76$ and $5.02$ TeV Pb+Pb, and $5.44$ TeV Xe+Xe collisions. We perform calculations within the light-cone path integral approach to induced gluon emission. We use running $\alpha_s$ which is frozen at low momenta at some value $\alpha_{s}^{fr}$. We find that the RHIC data support somewhat larger value of $\alpha_{s}^{fr}$. For the $\chi^2$ optimized values of $\alpha_{s}^{fr}$, the theoretical predictions are in reasonable agreement with data on $R_{AA}$ and $v_2$. Calculations made for different formation times and life-times of the QGP show that jet quenching at the RHIC and LHC energies is only weakly sensitive to the initial and final stages of the QCD matter evolution., Comment: 26 pages, 12 figures. We study contribution of radiative processes to $p_{\perp}$-broadening of fast partons in an expanding quark-gluon plasma. It is shown that the radiative correction to $\langle p_{\perp}^2\rangle$ for the QGP produced in $AA$-collisions at RHIC and LHC may be negative, and comparable in absolute value with the non-radiative contribution. The contribution of radiative processes to $p_\perp$-broadening of fast partons in a quark-gluon plasma is investigated. Calculations are performed beyond the soft gluon approximation. It is shown that the radiative correction to $\langle p_{\perp}^2\rangle$ for conditions of heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC is negative and can be comparable in absolute value with the nonradiative contribution. We study the radiative energy loss contribution to proton stopping in $AA$ collisions. The analyses is performed within the light-cone path integral approach to induced gluon emission. We have found that the radiative correction can fill in partly the midrapidity dip in the net proton rapidity distribution in $AA$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}\sim 10$ GeV. We argue that at $\sqrt{s}\sim 10$ GeV the net proton fluctuations at midrapidity may be dominated by the initial fluctuations of the proton flow, which, to a good accuracy, should be binomial., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures

We study the color randomization of two-gluon states produced after splitting of a primary fast gluon in the quark-gluon plasma. We find that for the LHC conditions the color randomization of the $gg$ pairs is rather slow. At jet energies $E=100$ and $500$ GeV, for typical jet path length in the plasma in central Pb+Pb collisions, the $SU(3)$-multiplet averaged color Casimir of the $gg$ pair differs considerably from its value $2N_c$ for a fully randomized $gg$ state. Our calculations of the energy dependence for generation of the nearly collinear decuplet $gg$ states, that can lead to the baryon jet fragmentation, show that the contribution of the anomalous decuplet color states to the baryon production should become small at $p_T\gtrsim 10$ GeV., Comment: 17 pages, 13 figures

We study, within the Monte-Carlo Glauber model, centrality dependence of the midrapidity charged multiplicity density $dN_{ch}/d\eta$ and of the anisotropy coefficients $\varepsilon_{2,3}$ in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV and in Xe+Xe collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.44$ TeV. Calculations are performed for versions with and without nucleon meson cloud. The fraction of the binary collisions, $\alpha$, has been fitted to the data on $dN_{ch}/d\eta$ in Pb+Pb collisions. We obtain $\alpha\approx 0.09(0.13)$ with (without) meson cloud. The effect of meson cloud on the $dN_{ch}/d\eta$ is relatively small. For Xe+Xe collisions for $0$-$5$\% centrality bin we obtain $dN_{ch}/d\eta\approx 1149$ and $1134$ with and without meson cloud, respectively. We obtain $\varepsilon_2(\mbox{Xe})/\varepsilon_2(\mbox{Pb})\sim 1.45$ for most central collisions, and $\varepsilon_2(\mbox{Xe})/\varepsilon_2(\mbox{Pb})$ close to unity at $c\gtrsim 20$\%. We find a noticeable increase of the eccentricity in Xe+Xe collisions at small centralities due to the prolate shape of the Xe nucleus. The triangularity in Xe+Xe collisions is bigger than in Pb+Pb collisions at $c\lesssim 70$\%. We obtain $\varepsilon_3(\mbox{Xe})/\varepsilon_3(\mbox{Pb})\sim 1.3$ at $c\lesssim 1$\%., Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures

The incorporation of running $\alpha_s$ for the gluon emission vertex in calculations of radiative parton energy loss in a quark-gluon plasma is discussed. We study the role of running coupling and the effect of variation of the thermal quark mass on contribution of the collinear bremsstrahlung and annihilation to photon emission in $AA$ collisions in a scheme similar to that used in our previous jet quenching analyses. We find that for a scenario with the thermal quark mass $m_q\sim 50-100$ MeV contribution of the higher order collinear processes summed with the $2\to 2$ processes can explain a considerable part ($\sim 50$\%) of the experimental photon spectrum at $k_T\sim 2-3$ GeV for Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}=0.2$ TeV. But for $m_q=300$ MeV and for the thermal quark mass predicted by the HTL scheme the theoretical predictions underestimate considerably the experimental spectrum., Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures

We study nuclear modification of the photon-tagged jets in $AA$ collisions within the jet quenching scheme based on the light-cone path integral approach to the induced gluon emission. The calculations are performed for running coupling. Collisional energy loss is treated as a perturbation to the radiative mechanism. We obtain a reasonable agreement with the recent data from the STAR Collaboration on the mid-rapidity nuclear modification factor $I_{AA}$ for Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV for parametrization of running $\alpha_s$ consistent with that necessary for description of the data on suppression of the high-$p_T$ spectra., Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures

We study the effect of the nucleon meson cloud on centrality dependence of the jet nuclear modification factor $R_{pA}$. We find that the meson-baryon Fock components may lead to a noticeable deviation of $R_{pA}$ from unity. Our results for $R_{pA}$ show the same tendency as that observed by ATLAS in $p+Pb$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV. The meson cloud suppresses the central jet events and enhances the peripheral jet events. But quantitatively the effect is somewhat smaller than in the data., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures

We study the effect of the nucleon meson cloud on predictions of the Monte Carlo Glauber wounded nucleon model for $AA$, $pA$, and $pp$ collisions. From the analysis of the data on the charged multiplicity density in $AA$ collisions we find that the meson-baryon Fock component reduces the required fraction of binary collisions by a factor of $\sim 2$ for Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}=0.2$ TeV and $\sim 1.5$ for Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s}=2.76$ TeV. For central $AA$ collisions the meson cloud can increase the multiplicity density by $\sim 16-18$\%. We give predictions for the midrapidity charged multiplicity density in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV for the future LHC run 2. We find that the meson cloud has a weak effect on the centrality dependence of the ellipticity $\epsilon_2$ in $AA$ collisions. For collisions of the deformed uranium nuclei at $\sqrt{s}=0.2$ TeV we find that the meson cloud may improve somewhat agreement with the data on the dependence of the elliptic flow on the charged multiplicity for very small centralities defined via the ZDCs signals. We find that the meson cloud may lead to a noticeable reduction of $\epsilon_2$ and the size of the fireball in $pA$ and $pp$ collisions., Comment: 17 pages, 13 figures

We develop a formalism for the photon emission from the quark-gluon plasma with an external electromagnetic field. We then use it to investigate the effect of magnetic field on the photon emission from the quark-gluon plasma created in $AA$ collisions. We find that even for very optimistic assumption on the magnitude of the magnetic field generated in $AA$ collisions its effect on the photon emission rate is practically negligible. For this reason the magnetic field cannot generate a significant azimuthal asymmetry in the photon spectrum., Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures

We study the flavor dependence of the medium modification factor $R_{pp}$ for $pp$ collisions for scenario with formation of a small-size quark-gluon plasma (QGP) for RHIC ($\sqrt{s}=0.2$ TeV) and LHC ($\sqrt{s}=2.76$ TeV) energies. We find that at $p_T\sim 10$ GeV the pion spectrum is suppressed by $\sim 20-30\,(25-35)$\% for RHIC (LHC), for $D$~($B$) mesons the suppression effect is smaller by a factor of $\sim 0.7-0.8$ ($0.5$). We study radiative parton energy loss in an expanding quark-gluon plasma with magnetic monopoles. We find that for realistic number density of thermal monopoles obtained in lattice simulations parton rescatterings on monopoles can considerably enhance energy loss for plasma produced in $AA$ collisions at RHIC and LHC energies. However, contrary to previous expectations, monopoles do not lead to the surface dominance of energy loss., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures

We study jet quenching in $pp$ and $pA$ collisions in the scenario with formation of a mini quark-gluon plasma. We find a significant suppression effect. For light hadrons at $p_{T}\sim 10$ GeV we obtained the reduction of the spectra by $\sim [20-30,25-35,30-40]$\% in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=[0.2, 2.76,7]$ TeV. We study the electromagnetic response of the quark-gluon plasma in AA-collisions at RHIC and LHC energies for a realistic space-time evolution of the plasma fireball. We demonstrate that for a realistic electric conductivity the electromagnetic response of the plasma is in a quantum regime when the induced electric current does not generate a classical electromagnetic field, and can only lead to a rare emission of single photons., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, to be published in Phys. We evaluate the medium suppression of light hadron spectra in $pp$ collisions at RHIC and LHC energies in the scenario with formation of a mini quark-gluon plasma. We study modification of the photon-tagged and inclusive jets in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV due to mini-quark-gluon plasma which can be produced in high multiplicity events. We show that for underlying events with $dN_{ch}/d\eta\sim 20-60$ the medium effects lead to a considerable modification of the photon-tagged and inclusive jet fragmentation functions. For inclusive jets the magnitude of the effect is surprisingly large. The effect is quite strong even for typical underlying events. We find that at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV the spectrum of charged hadrons is suppressed by $\sim 35-40$ % at $p_{T}\sim 5-10$ GeV., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure, journal version

We examine whether it is possible to simultaneously describe the experimental data from RHIC and LHC on nuclear suppression of light hadrons and non-photonic single electrons in the pQCD picture of parton energy loss. We perform calculations accounting for both radiative and collisional energy loss. We show that once the coupling constant is fixed from comparison with data on the nuclear modification factor for light hadrons it gives a satisfactory agreement with data on the electron R_{AA} and azimuthal anisotropy v_2. Our results show that the collisional mechanism is only of marginal significance in nuclear suppression of single electrons except for the bottom contribution at momenta < 6-8 GeV., Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures, J.Phys. We study the synchrotron-like gluon emission in $AA$-collisions from fast partons due to interaction with the coherent glasma color fields. We study anomalous high-$p_T$ baryon production in $AA$-collisions due to formation of the two parton collinear $gq$ system in the anti-sextet color state for quark jets and $gg$ system in the decuplet/anti-decuplet color states for gluon jets. Fragmentation of these states, which are absent for $NN$-collisions, after escaping from the quark-gluon plasma leads to baryon production. We investigate the photon emission from the electrosphere of a quark star. It is shown that at temperatures T\sim 0.1-1 MeV the dominating mechanism is the bremsstrahlung due to bending of electron trajectories in the mean Coulomb field of the electrosphere. The radiated energy for this mechanism is much larger than that for the Bethe-Heitler bremsstrahlung. The energy flux from the mean field bremsstrahlung exceeds the one from the tunnel e^{+}e^{-} pair creation as well. We demonstrate that the LPM suppression of the photon emission is negligible., Comment: 35 pages, 5 figures

We investigate the photon emission from the electrosphere of a quark star. It is shown that at temperatures $T\sim 0.1-1$ MeV the dominating mechanism is the bremsstrahlung due to bending of electron trajectories in the mean Coulomb field of the electrosphere. The radiated energy flux from this mechanism exceeds considerably both the contribution from the bremsstrahlung due to electron-electron interaction and the tunnel $e^{+}e^{-}$ pair creation., Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures

A quasiclassical theory of the synchrotron-like gluon emission is discussed. We show that the synchrotron emission may be important in the jet quenching if the plasma instabilities generate a chromomagnetic field about $m^{2}_{D}/g$. We demonstrate that for a finite-size quark-gluon plasma the induced gluon radiation from heavy quarks is stronger than that for light quarks when the gluon formation length becomes comparable with (or exceeds) the size of the plasma. The effect is due to oscillations of the light-cone wave function for the in-medium $q\to gq$ transition. The dead cone model by Dokshitzer and Kharzeev neglecting quantum finite-size effects is not valid in this regime. We discuss the relation between the treatments of the higher twist nuclear effects in eA DIS based on the pQCD collinear approximation and the light-cone path integral formalism. We show that in the collinear approximation the N=1 rescattering contribution to the gluon emission vanishes.
