Polyethylene oxide (PEO) has become a highly sought−after polymer electrolyte for lithium−ion batteries (LIBs) due to its high ionic conductivity, strong mechanical properties, and broad electrochemical stability range. However, its usefulness is hindered by its limited ionic conductivity at typical temperatures (<60 °C). Many researchers have delved into the integration of active fillers into the PEO matrix to improve the ionic conductivity and overall efficiency of composite polymer electrolytes (CPEs) for LIBs. This review delves deeply into the latest developments and insights in CPEs for LIBs, focusing on the role of PEO–active filler composites. It explores the impact of different types and morphologies of active fillers on the electrochemical behavior of CPEs. Additionally, it explores the mechanisms that contribute to the improved ionic conductivity and Li−ion transport in PEO−based CPEs. This paper also emphasizes the present obstacles and prospects in the advancement of CPEs containing PEO–active filler composites for LIBs. It serves as a valuable reference for scientists and engineers engaged in the domain of advanced energy storage systems, offering insights for the forthcoming development and enhancement of CPEs to achieve superior performance in LIBs. Membrane separation and photocatalytic degradation are essential technologies for wastewater purification, but they encounter challenges like membrane fouling and low photocatalytic efficiency. The integration of photocatalysis and membrane technology, along with the creation of a heterojunction photocatalyst, proves to be a promising solution by enhancing the efficiency of charge carrier transport. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) and tungsten disulfide (WS2) are key components, each offering unique benefits such as TiO2 stability and WS2 strong adsorption of visible light. TiO2/WS2 is synthesized through a one-step hydrothermal method at distinct hydrothermal times. A TiO2/WS2 photocatalytic membrane is constructed using the co-extrusion technique, with varying ratios of TiO2/WS2. The membrane undergoes characterization for both morphology and properties, as well as photocatalytic testing. TiO2/WS2 synthesized over a 20 h hydrothermal period is selected for deposition into the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane matrix. The resulting 0.5 wt% TiO2/WS2 photocatalytic membrane exhibits improved wettability, high porosity, and favorable water flux, demonstrating outstanding photocatalytic activity with an 85.3% degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) under visible light. The membrane also shows an 80.4% rejection of 1 mg/L BPA in dark conditions. In terms of energy storage, the 0.5 wt% TiO2/WS2 photocatalytic membrane exhibits a BPA photocatalytic performance resulting in 51.0% photodegradation, while the rejection rate reaches 27.4% for BPA removal after 120 min. In conclusion, the TiO2/WS2 photocatalytic membrane serves as a versatile solution, enhancing both photocatalytic degradation and rejection capabilities, with potential for energy storage in removing BPA from aquatic environments, regardless of light presence. Discharging endocrine-disrupting compound (EDC), namely, bisphenol A (BPA) into a water body does not only affect the public health but also gives adverse effects to the ecosystem. To encounter this issue, reliable treatment for BPA removal is highly required. Ternary combination of different metal oxides could be a novel energy storage photocatalyst toward efficient degradation of BPA under visible light radiation. The novel ternary photocatalyst of molybdenum trioxide with zinc oxide and graphene oxide (MoO3/ZnO/GO) was synthesized via hydrothermal and Hummer method at different hydrothermal times (6, 12, 18, and 24 h) and different GO compositions (0.5, 0.75, and 1.00 wt%) prior to the characterization for the morphological and physicochemical properties. ZnO has higher light absorption efficiency while MoO3 and GO were selected to be doped with ZnO owing to their good energy storage capability. MoO3 synthesized at 6 h of reaction time was chosen due to the uniform and abundant MoO3 production. The photocatalytic performance of MoO3/ZnO/GO with 0.5 wt% of GO reported 70% of 1-mg/L BPA degradation achieved after 180 min under visible light irradiation due to the reduced band gap at 2.38 eV. The energy storage capability of MoO3/ZnO/GO with 0.5 wt% of GO illuminated with 180-min visible light exhibit outstanding 100% of 1-mg/L BPA degradation after 30-min reaction in dark condition. A novel MoO3/ZnO/GO is significantly enhancing the photocatalytic degradation of BPA and acts as potential energy storage material for EDC removal in wastewater treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
