Plants, as intelligent organisms, have developed mechanisms for survival, which humans have studied and used to expand the methods of multiplication of various categories of plants. In the field of ornamental plants one of the most common method of propagation is the vegetative method by cuttings. In the present work, the testing of the most commonly used rooting substrates (sand, perlite, peat, peat mixed with perlite 1:1) for the top cuttings of shoots of some indoor ornamental species, decorative by flowers and leaves (Nerium oleander, Pelargonium odoratissimum, Croton variegatus, Hypoestes sanguinolenta, Coleus hybridus) continued. The parameters analysed to evaluate the efficiency of the rooting substrate were some biometric characteristics the average length of the main root and the average length of shoots together with the rooting percentage. For the statistical interpretation of these parameters, the IRP (index of Root and Peak) indicator was developed. In the arrangement of the residential spaces, one of the most important stages is to identify the best mix of species that are suited to be used for the establishment or rapid correction of turf surfaces by modern techniques, which involve the use of pre-germinated seeds under the specifical condition of each site. In this research was tested the seeds of the species most often used in lawn mixtures, namely Poa pratensis, Festuca arundinacea and Lolium perenne. The research was consisting of a bifactorial experiment where the A factor was the germination temperature (in a range from 5 to 20°C), and the B factor was the seeds treatment. The analyzed parameters were the germination indicators. The statistical analysis for the differences between germination means was done using Student's t-test and Wilcoxon test for paired samples (done with the Jasp 0.14.3. program). Using the seed treatment is not determine an increase of germination characteristic in all de the cases by comparing with untreated variant for all the tested species of seeds. The quality and the type of the planting material, the behavior in different conditions of culture, growth and blooming, as well as the appearance of the plant are important elements in choosing the variety and the cultivar or peony for plating in the landscape place. Also, the manner, appearance and duration of blooming, the earliness of the blooming, the aspect of the flower and the duration of the flowers on the plant or in vases are elements that render some qualities in the choice of peony varieties used in parks and gardens. In this paper, we present the results of the research on the influence of the age and size or the plants on the growth and blooming of some cultivars of herbaceous peony. The age of the plants had a major influence on the growth and blooming both in plants over 25 years and in young plants of over 2 years from planting. Likewise, the size of the plants had a different major influence on the growth and blooming both in older plants as well as in younger ones. The age and the size of the studied plants had a major influence also on the potential of reproduction of each studied cultivar. It analyzed the particularities of growth and blooming of the reproduction potential of each studied cultivar. The studied cultivars came from the collection of the University, as well as from the personal collection, having different ages such as 2 years, 4-5 years, 7 years, 8 years and over 25 years as well as various sizes of the ballot of the roots of herbaceous peony, i.e. 15-62 cm. Festuca arundinacea Schreb. is an important cool-season perennial grass, used in parks, home lawns, athletic fields, golf courses and soil conservation sites. Recent researches are directed towards a deeper understanding of its behaviour under different stress conditions and increasing the ability to counteract the effects of global climate change. This study was carried out with a view to evaluate the effects of saline and drought on some standard germination and early seedlings growth indicators, in laboratory conditions. Both types of stress had significant negative effects on physiological indicators, but the influence of saline stress have proven to be more prominent, especially as regard as mean germination time. The effect of seeds priming was also evaluated. Priming with ASFAC-BCO-4 (a Romanian agricultural biostimulator) stimulated the germination process, i.e. it hastened it, compared with the untreated control, and the effects were more noticeable at the beginning of germination. Also, it positively affected early seedling growth, as well as chlorophyll synthesis, even if the saline stress was present. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The decorative value of the cut flowers is defined primarily by the quality of vase life. The main features that make up this concept are the lifetime of the vase, the size and the evolution of the flowers and the maintenance of the flower color. These characteristics are decisively influenced by the use of preservative solutions. In this article, there was studied the influence of different types of solutions on flower freshness. For this, the stems were picked from a number of 4 varieties of Freesia hybrida from local commercial crops, such as: Soleil (yellow flowers), Fairy bell (red flowers), Excellent (white flowers) and Blue Nile (purple flowers), the flowers being entirely fresh and the length of the rods being 50 cm. They were distributed in vases containing different preservative solutions and placed under room conditions. The statistical analysis of data, using SPSS Base v.25, indicated that the duration of maintaining the freshness of the flowers can be influenced by both the variety used and the solution used. In our study, in vivo propagation experiments of seven Sedum L. species were carried out to evaluate the effects of two factors (species, rooting substrate) on rooting of cuttings and plant acclimatisation. The biological material used was represented by cuttings of shoots belonging to 7 species of Sedum (Sedum aizoon, Sedum kamtschaticum, Sedum pallidum, Sedum spurium, Sedum rupestre, Sedum spectabile, Sedum sieboldii). Analysing the collected data, we found that, depending on the species, the rooted substrates influence in different ways the rooting process and the subsequent evolution of the plants. Originally from the Mediterranean area, Rosmarinus officinalis (Fam. Lamiaceae) is a species widespread in most temperate regions of Europe and America with a significant economic impact due to the trivalent effect (ornamental, aromatic and medicinal). The purpose of these researches was to evaluate the impact of rhizogenic biostimulator Clonex-gel treatments on the rooting potential and some biochemical parameters of different types of cuttings in greenhouse conditions. The experiments carried out in the HORTINVEST greenhouses of USAMV Bucharest aimed to evaluate the rooting percentage, the development of the root system and the aerial part after rooting. Also, some biochemical parameters (assimilatory pigments and total soluble sugars content) were analyzed to assess the potential effect of the substances used to stimulate rooting on the biochemical composition of leaves formed on cuttings. The researches performed indicated that maximum percentage of rooting cuttings was determined in treated variants. Nerium oleander is a perennial shrub native to the eastern Mediterranean basin and Southeast Asia. As an ornamental plant grown in pots, it reaches heights of 1-2 m, with the appearance of a bushy shrub, with fragrant flowers, simple or double, colourful, blooming from spring until the end of autumn. With a very large adaptive potential, the species is one of the most popular in floral plants, as an indoor plant and where the climate allows, it can be grown on terraces and balconies, in hedges, alignments etc. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of treatments with various rhizogenic biostimulators on the rooting potential of different types of Nerium oleander cuttings in greenhouse conditions. The experiment was performed in the HORTINVEST greenhouses of the USAMV Bucharest and there were determined the rooting percentage, the development of the root system and the aerial part, as well as some physiological indicators: photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal conductance. The purpose of the research was to identify to what extent rooting substrates used for vegetative propagation on commercial plant Abutilon hybridum, influence the defining parameters for the future decorative potential of the plants. It has been tested a number of substrates defined as classical for two different rooting cuttings shoot (the segment and peak), aiming the evolution of the roots. For statistical interpretation of data it was developed an indicator that reflects the two types of measurements: percentage of rooting (%) and the average length of root cuttings (avg) for each type of substrate, called ITPS (I = Rooting T = Segment, P = Peak, S= Shoot). Objectives of the study:We evaluated the prevalence of cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN) and its potential as a prognostic marker in patients with right heart failure secondary to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in a pilot study. Furthermore, we investigated its correlation with the clinical status and a series of paraclinical parameters, and prognostic implications of this association. Methodology: 17 consecutive patients with PAH were evaluated in our study. The evaluation of CAN was realized by Holter ECG/24h monitoring with heart rate turbulence (HRT) and heart rate variability (HRV) analysis in time and frequency domains. Echocardiography was performed with focus on specific right heart parameters. All patients had previously undergone right heart catheterization with measurement of left ventricular filling pressure, pulmonary artery wedge pressure, right heart oxygen saturations and assessment of pulmonary hypertension. Conclusions: Our pilot study shows that a significant percentage of patients with PAH exhibit signs of CAN and are at high arrhythmic and mortality risk, from the standpoint of HRT analysis. Consequently, pulmonary hypertension can be associated with CAN, and this correlation can have morbidity and mortality implications, thus answering the need for a new prognostic marker in the evolution of PAH.
