Abstract

One of the most crucial considerations for practical applications of organic photovoltaics (OPV) is the stability under sunlight irradiation. It is necessary to translate the small device stability to the module level. Herein, the photostability of the OPV module with three cells connected in series with a total effective area of 10.8 cm2 is presented. The stability of the OPV module is studied under continuous irradiation by a UV light‐emitting diode (LED) with integrated UV intensity the same as AM1.5 solar irradiations. As a result, the OPV module achieves good stability under UV light with a half‐lifetime of about 1300 h without a UV filter. The lifetime is similar to the small device with the same materials. The series resistance and the encapsulation must be optimized simultaneously. The suitable metal of the external electrode greatly improves the OPV module's performance. In addition, the UV stability of the normal structure is shown to be better than the inverted structure because of the photoinstability of the ZnO layer. Moreover, the UV stability of semitransparent OPV modules is shown to be‐ similar to the opaque ones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Near‐infrared (NIR) laser annealing is successfully used to crystallize TiO2 thin films from a sol–gel solution deposited on gold nanoparticle arrays (AuNPs). The AuNPs are used as nano‐heaters allowing a local temperature increase up to 500 °C in the film. The temperature reached under the laser is deduced from the presence of the anatase phase in the samples obtained by laser exposure, showing that crystallized TiO2 can be obtained by the photothermal effect. Different analytical techniques supported this study, such as grazing X‐ray diffraction (GIXRD), UV–vis, and Raman spectroscopy. The temperature increase is confirmed by a numerical model that emphasizes the role of NPs coupling in the photothermal effect. Direct laser patterning by NIR laser and in combination with Deep‐UV photolithography (DUV) are demonstrated. 22. Study of Thin Film Blue-Light MicroLEDs by Laser Lift-Off and Texture Process

Abstract

In this study, thin-film blue-light micro-light-emitting diodes ( $\mu $ LEDs) were successfully fabricated by laser lift-off technique, which had an emission region of only $10\,\,\mu \text{m}\,\,\times 10\,\,\mu \text{m}$ . Additionally, a texturing treatment was applied to the top undoped GaN surface. The texturing time was optimized to prevent a total reflective effect and further enhance the light extraction efficiency. As a result, the emission output power (@ 30 mA) and EQEmax of the $\mu $ LED textured for 2 minutes exhibited 1.35 times and 1.64 times higher values as compared with those of $\mu $ LED with a sapphire substrate, respectively.

Abstract

In this work, gold nanoparticles (Au NPs)/indium‐zinc‐oxide (IZO) nanocomposite visible photodetector (PD) is directly prepared by near‐infrared (NIR) laser‐annealing on a 3D‐printed substrate to form an integrated colorimetric sensor. After a surface planarization process, using a low power laser treatment without damaging the substrate, Au NPs are formed from the Au thin layer (6 nm) on 3D‐printed resin substrate by laser‐assisted dewetting process. Also, the UV–vis photoresponsivity is compared by tuning different NIR laser power intensity for sol‐gel IZO curing. By investigating the temperature profile of each laser annealing process and the surface morphology of Au NPs/IZO nanocomposite film, the optimized PD is then integrated with a 3D‐printed sensing chamber for successfully demonstrating urea detection varied from 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 × 10−3m, which refer to the salivary urea concentrations for healthy and chronic kidney disease groups. Abstract

Developing ultraflexible sensors using metal oxides is challenging due to the high-temperature annealing step in the fabrication process. Here, we demonstrate the ultraflexible relative humidity (RH) sensor on food plastic wrap by using 808 nm near-infrared (NIR) laser annealing for 1 min at a low temperature (26.2–40.8 °C). The wettability of plastic wraps coated with sol-gel solution is modulated to obtain uniform films. The surface morphology, local temperature, and electrical properties of the SnO2 resistor under NIR laser irradiation with a power of 16, 33, and 84 W/cm2 are investigated. The optimal device can detect wide-range RH from 15% to 70% with small incremental changes (0.1–2.2%). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveals the relation between the surface binding condition and sensing response. Finally, the proposed sensor is attached onto the face mask to analyze the real-time human breath pattern in slow, normal, and fast modes, showing potential in wearable electronics or respiration monitoring.
