Frequent phlebotomies, even when only a small volume of blood is taken for diagnostic purposes, can lead to the development of iron deficiency with hematological and metabolic changes. The study aimed to determine the influence of frequent blood loss by phlebotomy on blood iron concentration (Fe), hematology, metabolic and endocrine parameters and their relationships. Blood samples were collected from 30 blood donor rams for 6 consecutive weeks, with approximately 10% of blood collected weekly. Such chronic blood loss resulted in a decrease in Fe. Indicators of iron transport in the bloodstream changed, so the value of total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) and unsaturated iron-binding capacity (UIBC) increased, while the value of transferrin saturation percentage (TS%) decreased. Hematological changes included a decrease in red blood cells, hemoglobin, mean red blood cell volume and hematocrit and a tendency for reticulocyte count and red cell distribution width to increase. Chronic blood loss resulted in a specific metabolic response that included the increase in glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, aspartate-aminotransferase, and insulin resistance, while thyroxine, triiodothyronine and cortisol decreased and there was a tendency for lactate to increase and BHB to decrease. The mentioned blood parameters correlated with Fe and additionally showed greater changes when Fe was extrapolated to the level of clinical deficit (Fe=9μmol/L). These correlations suggest the need to monitor the metabolic and endocrine status during chronic blood loss, in addition to Fe and erythrocyte indices. Compared with previous results in other animal species, Fe may have a direct influence on metabolic processes in rams.

S: Management in the public sector represents the basic function of positioning and directing the economic and financial activities of state collectivities, that is, the public sector towards the execution of the set goals and tasks for which they were formed. According to classical understandings, the state should intervene in the economy only when the market mechanism does not contribute to optimally efficient solutions, and limit its interference in the economy to the following areas: preventing monopolistic behavior, neutralizing negative external effects and providing public goods. The functions of state bodies and organizations have a fiscal character. The fiscal character observed in this way primarily refers to the general state sector, and only in part of its competences and through agencies and commercial parts, so that these activities are marked as quasi-fiscal in order to emphasize that the primary activity of these agencies does not have fiscal features.

Studies presented in this review contribute to the knowledge of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from marine organisms, especially macrolgae from the Adriatic Sea. Complementary methods were used for the isolation of VOCs from fresh and/or air-dried samples: headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and/or hydrodistillation (HD). The isolates were analysed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A variety of different volatile compounds, mainly sesquiterpenes, diterpenes and aliphatic compounds were found in headspace and volatile oils of macroalgae Halopteris filicina, Flabellia petiolata, Dictyota dichotoma, Taonia atomaria, Padina pavonica, Codium bursa, and one seagrass Posidonia oceanica. Low molecular aliphatic compounds were found in the chemical profiles of headspace, such as dimethyl sulphide (DMS), tribromomethane, 1-iodopentane, 3-methylbut-2-enal, hexanal and pent-1-en-3-one. Aliphatic C8- and C11-compounds (e.g., octan-1-ol, octanal, oct-1-en-3-ol, 6-methylhept-5-en-2-on, fucoserratene and dictyopterenes) were also identified. Along with higher acyclic hydrocarbons, which are also found in headspace (e.g. heptadecane), in the investigated volatile oils higher aliphatics alcohols (e.g., (Z)-oktadec-9-en-1-ol, hexadecan-1-ol, (Z,Z)-oktadeca-3,13-dien-1-ol) and esters (e.g., diisooctyl phthalate, dibutyl phthalate) were found. Phenylpropane derivatives (e.g., benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol) and C13-norisporenoids (e.g., α-ionone and β-ionone) were also identified in the volatile profiles, as well as an array of sesquiterpenes (e.g., germacrene D, bicyclogermacrene, δ-cadinene, epizonarene, epi-bicyclosesquiphellandrene, β-cubebene, gleenol, (E)-β-farnesene). Business, as the movement of economic factors in a certain direction, implies continuous monitoring, regardless of whether it causes changes or maintains the existing state. In this sense, accounting is the most important part of the overall information system of every business entity whose information is indispensable to financial management when making decisions. In this paper, we will present the agricultural holding as a business entity as the main production-organizational unit in agriculture. From the aspect of profitability, agricultural farms can be viewed as farms that operate on a market principle (commercial), whose operations can be considered agribusiness and should be included in the VAT system, and those that operate on a non-market principle (non-commercial), which are engaged in production for own needs.

Establishing knowledge management means setting up, maintaining and constantly updating a state by generating new models and rules of its use, i.e. means process. Each process takes place in accordance with a logical structure and certain rules, supported by someone.It has a specific goal, directed content and it requires some assumptions,that is, characteristics of the environment in which it takes place. When it comes to knowledge management, its establishment and maintenance, the enterprises of the defense industry represent the environment and its properties condition the generation of knowledge management. On this assumption, questions can be asked and their answers explain the knowledge management generation.

The usage of microbiological screening tests is widespread in control of presence of antimicrobial drug residues in meat samples. Screening tests must be capable to detect antimicrobial drug residue of interest and detection limits must comply with MRL (Maximum Residue Limit). The aim of this study was to examine the performance of a microbiological screening test with E. coli as test microorganism: capability of detecting enrofloxacina and it's main metabolite ciprofloxacine at MRL levels in both fortified and incurred chicken tissue samples. Detection limits of microbiological screening test with E. coli was 50 ng/g for enrofloxacin and 25 ng/g for ciprofloxacin. Screening test had positive results in all samples of fortified and incurred meat with residue concentrations above MRL level. The results of this examinations shows that microbiological screening test with E. coli, as simple and cost effective test, is capable to detect enrofloxacine and it's metabolite ciprofloxacine in treated poultry at MRL level ie test is capable to detect unsafe poultry meat.

In exercising the power of new ideas and concepts based on knowledge, managers in corporations are becoming an indispensable element of every company will be able to change, adapt and create new opportunities to compete successfully in a changing business environment. However, the transfer of responsibility for the management of the corporation managers has resulted in the emergence of abuse of senior management positions in order to realize their own interests. The main objective of this paper is to show how unlike traditional enterprise, today we have a situation in which such property owners corporation is a conceptual and thoughtful decision managers, which should represent the members of their intellectual property.

The tendency of continuous compounding of business processes inevitably leads to application of increasingly complex instruments for the purposes of financial reporting in agribusiness. In this system the existential place and role of individual elements that alter the existing and acquire new functions comes into question. Balancing implies a regulated and consistent system in which every change leads to the creation of new relations and changing already established relationships. In this regard, in this paper we will focus on the place and role of tax balance in the group of special balances in agribusiness, as a very significant group of accounting instruments. Displaying information for users and situations in which they are used, balances gain their place in this classification. For the purposes of applying financial instruments, referring primarily to balances in agribusiness, it is necessary to know the way of their classification according to their functions. From this aspect, tax balance in agribusiness is a specific report, both in terms of its formal and material structure, which gives it the basis to belong to ordinary as well as special types of balances in agribusiness.

A clinical form of sepsis induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) was caused in order to monitor the concentration of enzymes (alanine aminotransferase - ALT, aspartate aminotransferase - AST, lactate dehydrogenase - LDH, amylase and creatine kinase - CK) in the rat blood. Experiments were performed on male Wistar rats, weighing on average 215±25 g. The rats were divided into four groups. In the first three groups (n=28 per group), sepsis was induced by pure culture of Escherichia coli (EC) or Staphylococcus aureus (SA) and mixed culture (MK) of caecum, while the fourth group included 20 control rats who underwent an abdominal incision. Blood was taken in time intervals of 12, 24, 72 and 120 hours. During the experimental protocol, we identified significant changes of all monitored enzymes in the serum of infected rats. After a period of 12 hours there was a significant increase in ALT (all rats with sepsis), AST and LDH (rats in the MK group) levels, while a decrease was noted in the concentration of amylase (EC, SA). Similarly, 24 hours after the CLP procedure, a significant decrease of amylase (MK) and AST (SA) was recorded, while serum LDH level varied significantly from elevated (EC, SA) to reduced (MC) values. Finally, at the time intervals of 72 and 120 hours the concentration of nearly all monitored enzymes has shown a decline, while significance was noted in lowering of ALT (MK), AST (SA, EC) and amylase (SA) levels. Two wild-growing Brassicaceae plants of Croatian origin, Aurinia leucadea (Guss.) K. Koch and Lepidium draba L., were investigated to uncover glucosinolates via GC/MS analysis of their degradation products. The main constituents of Aurinia leucadea (Guss.) K.Koch distillate were hex-5-enenitrile (28.8%) and but-3-enyl isothiocyanate (18.8%), while 4,5-epithiopentanenitrile (50%) and 5,6-epithiohexanenitrile (18.5%) were the main volatile compounds in autolysate. 4-(Methylsulfanyl)butyl isothiocyanate (96.4%) constituted almost the entire Lepidium draba L. distillate, while the autolysate was characterized by 4-(methylsulfinyl)butyl isothiocyanate (57.3%). So, regarding the glucosinolate degradation products, the main glucosinolates of A. leucadea were glucobrassicanapin and gluconapin, and of L. draba glucoerucin and glucoraphanin.

Rare Moltkia petraea (Tratt.) Griseb. honey from Croatia was first time characterised. The spectrophotometric assays on CIE L*a*b*C ab *h ab ° colour coordinates, total phenol content and antioxidant capacity (FRAP, CUPRAC, DPPH • and ABTS •+ assays) determined higher honey values generally close to dark honeys ranges. Headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) on two fibres after GC-FID and GC/MS revealed the major compounds 2-phenylacetaldehyde (12.8%; 15.6%), benzaldehyde (11.1%; 10.0%), octane (9.3%; 7.6%), nonane, propan-2-one, pentan-2-one, pentanal and nonanal (4.9%; 14.5%). Ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE) mainly isolated non-specific higher molecular compounds characteristic of the comb environment. Targeted HLPC-DAD analysis of the honey determined higher concentration of phenylalanine (212.08 mg/kg) and lumichrome (16.25 mg/kg) along with tyrosine and kojic acid. Headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE), followed by GC-MS/FID, were applied for monitoring the nectar (NE)/honey-sac (HoS)/honey (HO) pathways of the headspace, volatiles, and semi-volatiles. The major NE (4 varieties of Citrus unshiu ) headspace compounds were linalool, α-terpineol, 1 H -indole, methyl anthranilate, and phenylacetonitrile. Corresponding extracts contained, among others, 1 H -indole, methyl anthranilate, 1,3-dihydro-2 H -indol-2-one and caffeine. The major HoS headspace compounds were linalool, α-terpineol, 1,8-cineole, 1 H -indole, methyl anthranilate, and cis -jasmone. Characteristic compounds from HoS extract were caffeine, 1 H -indole, 1,3-dihydro-2 H -indol-2-one, methyl anthranilate, and phenylacetonitrile. However, HO headspace composition was significantly different in comparison to NE and HoS with respect to phenylacetaldehyde and linalool derivatives abundance that appeared as the consequence of the hive conditions and the bee enzyme activity. C. unshiu honey traceability is determined by chemical markers: phenylacetaldehyde, phenylacetonitrile, linalool and its derivatives, as well as 1 H -indole, 1,3-dihydro-2 H -indol-2-one, and caffeine.

The samples of Satureja subspicata Vis. honey were confirmed to be unifloral by melissopalynological analysis with the characteristic pollen share from 36% to 71%. Bioprospecting of the samples was performed by HPLC-DAD, GC-FID/MS, and UV/VIS. Prephenate derivatives were shown to be dominant by the HPLC-DAD analysis, particularly phenylalanine (167.8 mg/kg) and methyl syringate (MSYR, 114.1 mg/kg), followed by tyrosine and benzoic acid. Higher amounts of MSYR (3-4 times) can be pointed out for distinguishing S. subspicata Vis. honey from other Satureja spp. honey types. GC-FID/MS analysis of ultrasonic solvent extracts of the samples revealed MSYR (46.68%, solvent pentane/Et2O 1:2 (v/v); 52.98%, solvent CH2Cl2) and minor abundance of other volatile prephenate derivatives, as well as higher aliphatic compounds characteristic of the comb environment. Two combined extracts (according to the solvents) of all samples were evaluated for their antioxidant properties by FRAP and DPPH assay; the combined extracts demonstrated higher activity (at lower concentrations) in comparison with the average honey sample. UV/VIS analysis of the samples was applied for determination of CIE Lab colour coordinates, total phenolics (425.38 mg GAE/kg), and antioxidant properties (4.26 mmol Fe(2+)/kg (FRAP assay) and 0.8 mmol TEAC/kg (DDPH assay)).

Glucosinolates (GLs) were characterized in various aerial parts (stems, leaves, and flowers) of Aurinia leucadea (Guss.) C. Koch and quantified according to the ISO 9167-1 official method based on the HPLC analysis of desulfoglucosinolates. Eight GLs, i.e., glucoraphanin (GRA), glucoalyssin (GAL; 1), gluconapin (GNA; 2), glucocochlearin (GCC), glucobrassicanapin (GBN; 3), glucotropaeolin (GTL), glucoerucin (GER), and glucoberteroin (GBE) were identified. The total GL contents were 57.1, 37.8, and 81.3 μmol/g dry weight in the stems, leaves, and flowers, respectively. The major GL detected in all parts of the plant was 2, followed by 1 and 3. GC/MS Analysis of the volatile fractions extracted from the aerial parts of fresh plant material either by hydrodistillation or CH(2) Cl(2) extraction showed that these fractions mostly contained isothiocyanates (ITCs). The main ITCs were but-3-enyl- (55.6-71.8%), pent-4-enyl- (7.6-15.3%), and 5-(methylsulfinyl)pentyl ITC (0-9.5%), originating from the corresponding GLs 2, 3, and 1, respectively. The antimicrobial activity of the volatile samples was investigated by determining inhibition zones with the disk-diffusion method and minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) with the microdilution method. They were found to inhibit a wide range of bacteria and fungi, with MIC values of 2.0-32.0 μg/ml, indicating their promising antimicrobial potential, especially against the fungi Candida albicans and Rhizopus stolonifer as well as against the clinically important pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa., (Copyright © 2011 Verlag Helvetica Chimica Acta AG, Zürich.)

Two different volatile isolates from the aerial parts of Cardaria draba (L.) Desv., obtained either by hydrodistillation (Extract I) or by CH(2) Cl(2) extraction subsequent to hydrolysis by exogenous myrosinase (Extract II), were characterized by GC-FID and GC/MS analyses. The main volatiles obtained by hydrodistillation, i.e., 4-(methylsulfanyl)butyl isothiocyanate (1; 28.0%) and 5-(methylsulfanyl)pentanenitrile (2; 13.8%), originated from the degradation of glucoerucin. In Extract I, also volatiles without sulfur and/or nitrogen were identified. These were mostly hexadecanoic acid (10.8%), phytol (10.2%), dibutyl phthalate (4.5%), and some other compounds in smaller percentages. Extract II contained mostly glucosinolate degradation products. They originated from glucoraphanin, viz., 4-(methylsulfinyl)butyl isothiocyanate (3; 69.2%) and 5-(methylsulfinyl)pentanenitrile (4; 4.5%), glucosinalbin, viz., 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetonitrile (5; 7.2%), and glucoerysolin, viz., 4-(methylsulfonyl)butyl isothiocyanate (6; 5.0%). Moreover, the volatile samples were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity using the disc-diffusion method and determining minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC). All volatile isolates expressed a wide range of growth inhibition activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Volatile compounds of hedge mustard (Sysimbrium officinale) have been investigated for the first time. Forthy-two compounds were identified after hydrodistillation (without or upon autolysis) after gas chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analyses. In addition, after decoction and hydrolysis of O-glycosides, 18 volatile O-aglycones were identified. In general, the main volatiles found in hydrodistillates were: isopropyl isothiocyanate (27.6-48.9%), 2-methylpropanenitrile (0.5-18.8%), (Z)-hex-3-en-1-ol (0.5-18.0%), sec-butyl isothiocyanate (4.9-9.4%), (E)-hex-2-enal (3.5-8.6%), (Z)-hex-2-en-1-ol (0.3-8.4%), octanoic (0.5-8.6%) and dodecanoic acid (0-5.0%), 2-methylbutanenitrile (0-4.6%), dibutyl phthalate (0-4.5%), and ethyl linolenate (0-3.6%). The main volatile O-aglycones were: 2-phenylethyl alcohol (21.5%), 6,7-dehydro-7,8-dihydro-3-oxo-alpha-ionol (9.3%), eugenol (8.3%), benzyl alcohol (7.0%), ethyl vanillate (5.2%), 6-(tert-butyl)-5-methylphenol (5.1%), vanillin acetone (4.7%), ethyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (4.3%), and 2-hydroxy-beta-ionone (3.8%). All hydrodistillates exhibited great potential of antibacterial activity against five Gram-positive bacteria, nine ampicillin-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, and four fungi at a concentration of 500 microg/ml using the disc diffusion method.
