Self-accelerating beams show considerable captivating phenomena and applications owing to their transverse acceleration, diffraction-free and self-healing properties in free space. Metasurfaces consisting of dielectric or metallic subwavelength structures attract enormous attention to acquire self-accelerating beams, owing to their extraordinary capabilities in the arbitrary control of electromagnetic waves. However, because the self-accelerating beam generator possesses a large phase gradient, traditional discrete metasurfaces suffer from insufficient phase sampling, leading to a low efficiency and narrow spectral band. To overcome this limitation, a versatile platform of catenary-inspired dielectric metasurfaces is proposed to endow arbitrary continuous wavefronts. A high diffraction efficiency approaching 100% is obtained in a wide spectral range from 9 to 13 μm. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, the broadband, high-efficiency and high-quality self-accelerating beam generation is experimentally verified in the infrared band. Furthermore, the chiral response of the proposed metasurfaces enables the spin-controlled beam acceleration. Considering these superior performances, this design methodology may find wide applications in particle manipulation, high-resolution imaging, optical vortex generation, and so forth.

Information regarding the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic on cervical cancer in mainland China is lacking. We explored its impact on the hospital attendance of patients with primary cervical cancer. We included 1918 patients with primary cervical cancer who initially attended Harbin Medical University Cancer Hospital between January 23, 2019, and January 23, 2021. Attendance decreased by 31%, from 1135 in 2019 to 783 in 2020, mainly from January to June (휒2 = 73.362, P <.001). The percentage of patients detected by screening decreased from 12.1% in January‐June 2019 to 5.8% in January‐June 2020 (휒2 = 7.187, P =.007). Patients with stage I accounted for 28.4% in 2020 significantly lower than 36.6% in 2019 (휒2 = 14.085, P <.001), and patients with stage III accounted for 27.1% in 2020 significantly higher than 20.5% in 2019 (휒2 = 11.145, P <.001). Waiting time for treatment was extended from 8 days (median) in January‐June and July‐December 2019 to 16 days in January‐June (휒2 = 74.674, P <.001) and 12 days in July‐December 2020 (휒2 = 37.916, P <.001). Of the 179 patients who delayed treatment, 164 (91.6%) were for the reasons of the healthcare providers. Compared to 2019, the number of patients in Harbin or non‐Harbin in Heilongjiang Province and outside the province decreased, and cross‐regional medical treatment has been hindered. The COVID‐19 pandemic has negatively impacted cervical cancer patient attendance at the initial phase. These results are solid evidence that a strategy and mechanism for the effective attendance of cervical cancer patients in response to public health emergencies is urgently needed. NDFIP1 has been previously reported as a tumor suppressor in multiple solid tumors, but the function of NDFIP1 in NSCLC and the underlying mechanism are still unknown. Besides, the WW domain containing proteins can be recognized by NDFIP1, resulted in the loading of the target proteins into exosomes. However, whether WW domain-containing transcription regulator 1 (WWTR1, also known as TAZ) can be packaged into exosomes by NDFIP1 and if so, whether the release of this oncogenic protein via exosomes has an effect on tumor development has not been investigated to any extent. Here, we first found that NDFIP1 was low expressed in NSCLC samples and cell lines, which is associated with shorter OS. Then, we confirmed the interaction between TAZ and NDFIP1, and the existence of TAZ in exosomes, which requires NDFIP1. Critically, knockout of NDFIP1 led to TAZ accumulation with no change in its mRNA level and degradation rate. And the cellular TAZ level could be altered by exosome secretion. Furthermore, NDFIP1 inhibited proliferation in vitro and in vivo , and silencing TAZ eliminated the increase of proliferation caused by NDFIP1 knockout. Moreover, TAZ was negatively correlated with NDFIP1 in subcutaneous xenograft model and clinical samples, and the serum exosomal TAZ level was lower in NSCLC patients. In summary, our data uncover a new tumor suppressor, NDFIP1 in NSCLC, and a new exosome-related regulatory mechanism of TAZ. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
