1. Research on the purification mechanism of heavy metal pollution by biochar composites driven by degree learning

Abstract: This paper proposes an innovative approach by integrating deep learning technology, specifically employing the GRU recurrent neural network model based on the Seagull optimization algorithm, to enhance the accuracy of predicting biochar performance. The Seagull optimization algorithm, inspired by seagull predatory behavior, is adept at efficiently identifying optimal model parameters, thereby improving the model’s generalization ability and robustness. The GRU recurrent neural network, designed for sequence data processing, proves to be instrumental in capturing dynamic and nonlinear interactions between biochar and heavy metals. This, in turn, contributes to heightened prediction accuracy and model interpretability. The article unfolds in a structured manner, beginning with an introduction to the biochar preparation method and its characteristics. It then delves into an analysis of the sources and hazards of heavy metal pollution. Following this, the paper explains the principles and advantages of deep learning technology, providing a comprehensive foundation for the subsequent discussion. The construction and verification process of the proposed model is then detailed, concluding with the presentation of experimental results and in-depth analysis. In essence, this research introduces a pioneering idea and methodology for optimizing biochar design and effectively controlling heavy metal pollution, presenting a fresh perspective on addressing these environmental challenges.

3. MV-DETR: Multi-modality indoor object detection by Multi-View DEtecton TRansformers

Abstract: We introduce a novel MV-DETR pipeline which is effective while efficient transformer based detection method. Given input RGBD data, we notice that there are super strong pretraining weights for RGB data while less effective works for depth related data. First and foremost , we argue that geometry and texture cues are both of vital importance while could be encoded separately. Secondly, we find that visual texture feature is relatively hard to extract compared with geometry feature in 3d space. Unfortunately, single RGBD dataset with thousands of data is not enough for training an discriminating filter for visual texture feature extraction. Last but certainly not the least, we designed a lightweight VG module consists of a visual textual encoder, a geometry encoder and a VG connector. Compared with previous state of the art works like V-DETR, gains from pretrained visual encoder could be seen. Extensive experiments on ScanNetV2 dataset shows the effectiveness of our method. It is worth mentioned that our method achieve 78\% AP which create new state of the art on ScanNetv2 benchmark.

4. HHLPar: Automated Theorem Prover for Parallel Hybrid Communicating Sequential Processes

Abstract: We present a tool called HHLPar for verifying hybrid systems modelled in Hybrid Communicating Sequential Processes (HCSP). HHLPar is built upon a Hybrid Hoare Logic for HCSP, which is able to reason about continuous-time properties of differential equations, as well as communication and parallel composition of parallel HCSP processes with the help of parameterised trace assertions and their synchronization. The logic was formalised and proved to be sound in Isabelle/HOL, which constitutes a trustworthy foundation for the verification conducted by HHLPar. HHLPar implements the Hybrid Hoare Logic in Python and supports automated verification: On one hand, it provides functions for symbolically decomposing HCSP processes, generating specifications for separate sequential processes and then composing them via synchronization to obtain the final specification for the whole parallel HCSP processes; On the other hand, it is integrated with external solvers for handling differential equations and real arithmetic properties. We have conducted experiments on a simplified cruise control system to validate the performance of the tool.

5. Modeling analysis of microenvironment of 3D cell mechanics based on machine vision

Abstract: Aiming at the problem of poor construction accuracy of the cellular three-dimensional (3D) mechanical microenvironment, this article studies the cellular 3D mechanical microenvironment based on machine vision. The gelatin methacrylate microgel column was prepared by NIH/3T3 mouse fibroblast and precursor solution of gelatin methacrylate microgel. The gelatin methacrylate microgel array with magnetic end was adopted. The external magnetic field was used to load microgel array and build 3D mechanics microenvironment model. The deformed pictures of hydrogel under magnetic field were obtained by fluorescence microscope. The scanning electron microscope was used to characterize the pore structure of gelatin methacrylate hydrogel. The pictures obtained by machine vision method were used to calculate the deformed parameters of sample. The machine vision method adopted the discrete cosine transform for autofocus, and then used the image analysis and processing technology to identify and estimate the cell motion parameters. After getting the cell motion parameters, Comsol multiphysics (COMSOL) multiphysics multifield coupling finite element analysis software was adopted. The correlative numerical simulation method and gel deformed simulation method were used to obtain the mechanical changes of cells in the 3D mechanical microenvironment. Experimental results show that the modulus of gelatin methacrylate microgel is changed significantly during the tensile loading. The tensile strain and the cell spreading area are nonlinearly related. The increase in stiffness of the hydrogel substrate helps to promote cell proliferation to a certain extent.

6. Students' Reflections on Their Scientist- or Engineer-Like Practices in STEM Project-Based Learning

Abstract: Students build up their STEM career interest based on their experiences. However, it remains unclear how students reflect on their STEM experiences in light of their understanding of STEM careers. This study aimed to explore how students relate their practices in STEM project-based learning (PBL) with their perceptions of scientists' and engineers' work. A randomly selected sample of students (n =142) participating in a STEM event participated in structured interviews regarding the resemblance between their months-long STEM PBL and scientists' and engineers' work. The data were coded using content analysis mostly by adopting a bottom-up approach followed by statistical analysis. Results showed that the majority of students claimed that their group had done things like scientists, while only about half of the students acknowledged doing things like engineers. The number and aspects of the students' mentioned practices were generally limited, with engineer-like practices more divergent and reflecting their stereotype of engineers working as manual laborers. The results also suggest that students tend to neglect the minds-on but hands-off scientist- or engineer-like practices such as raising a question/problem. The findings address the research gap regarding how students reflect on their STEM PBL experiences in light of career development.

7. Seat Selection as a Function of Cultural and Individual Differences: Insights from Undergraduate Students in China

Abstract: Students' seating selection is a significant physical variable that has implications for both teachers and students. These seating preferences have been linked to students' personalities, motivation, and academic performance. However, there is limited knowledge regarding the cultural influences on these preferences. In this exploratory qualitative study, we aim to investigate the cultural factors that influence the seating choices of undergraduate students. The study participants were recruited using purposive sampling. Face-to-face interviews and scenario simulation surveys were utilized to collect data, which was analyzed using thematic analysis. The study's findings suggest that seating preferences are largely a function of individual differences and personal preferences, which often stem from personal and cultural factors. These factors are discussed under five primary themes: course academic value, gaining positive experiences, avoiding negative experiences, modesty and humility, and social belonging. These findings have implications for teaching and learning and for instructors, especially those from foreign cultures.

8. Experimental study on tensile and shear strength of anthracite under supercritical CO2

Abstract: In the process of CO2 geological sequestration, the mechanical properties of coal will be changed after supercritical CO2 interacts with coal. Based on this, in this paper, Brazilian splitting test and variable angle shear test were carried out on anthracite under different test conditions, and the changes of tensile strength, shear peak strength, residual strength, internal friction angle and cohesion of coal under different test conditions were studied and compared from two aspects of dry/saturated moisture content and supercritical CO2 soaking time(3, 5, 7 days). The results show that the tensile strength, shear strength and residual strength of coal decrease with the increase of supercritical CO2 soaking time, but the decreasing amplitude decreases gradually; the degradation effect of mechanical parameters of coal under the action of water + supercritical CO2 is greater than that of drying test group; the internal friction angle and cohesion tend to decrease with the increase of supercritical CO2 action time, but the effect of supercritical CO2 on cohesion is more obvious, but the effect of internal friction angle is less.

Abstract: We present a study of the semileptonic decay $D^0\rightarrow \pi^-\pi^0e^{+}\nu_{e}$ using an $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sample of $7.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The branching fraction of $D^0\to \rho(770)^-e^+\nu_e$ is measured to be $(1.439 \pm 0.033(\rm stat.) \pm 0.027(\rm syst.)) \times10^{-3}$, which is a factor 1.6 more precise than previous measurements. By performing an amplitude analysis, we measure the hadronic form-factor ratios of $D^0\to \rho(770)^-e^+\nu_e$ at $q^2=0$ assuming the single-pole-dominance parametrization: $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.548\pm0.079(\rm stat.)\pm0.041(\rm syst.)$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.823\pm0.056(\rm stat.)\pm0.026(\rm syst.)$., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: Since the first instances of online education, where courses were uploaded to accessible and shared online platforms, this form of scaling the dissemination of human knowledge to reach a broader audience has sparked extensive discussion and widespread adoption. Recognizing that personalized learning still holds significant potential for improvement, new AI technologies have been continuously integrated into this learning format, resulting in a variety of educational AI applications such as educational recommendation and intelligent tutoring. The emergence of intelligence in large language models (LLMs) has allowed for these educational enhancements to be built upon a unified foundational model, enabling deeper integration. In this context, we propose MAIC (Massive AI-empowered Course), a new form of online education that leverages LLM-driven multi-agent systems to construct an AI-augmented classroom, balancing scalability with adaptivity. Beyond exploring the conceptual framework and technical innovations, we conduct preliminary experiments at Tsinghua University, one of China's leading universities. Drawing from over 100,000 learning records of more than 500 students, we obtain a series of valuable observations and initial analyses. This project will continue to evolve, ultimately aiming to establish a comprehensive open platform that supports and unifies research, technology, and applications in exploring the possibilities of online education in the era of large model AI. We envision this platform as a collaborative hub, bringing together educators, researchers, and innovators to collectively explore the future of AI-driven online education.

11. Perspective: Floquet engineering topological states from effective models towards realistic materials

Abstract: With significant advances in classifying and cataloguing topological matter, the focus of topological physics has shifted towards quantum control, particularly the creation and manipulation of topological phases of matter. Floquet engineering, the concept of tailoring a system by periodic fields, offers a powerful tool to manipulate electronic properties of condensed systems, and even to create exotic non-equilibrium topological states that are impossibly present in equilibrium scenarios. In this perspective, we give a brief review of recent progress in theoretical investigations of Floquet engineering topological states from effective models towards realistic materials. We show that light irradiation can realize various desired topological states through the introduction of symmetry breaking, such as first- and higher-order Weyl fermions, quadrupole topological insulator with periodic driving and disorder, quantum anomalous Hall effects with a tunable Chern number, as well as beyond. Moreover, based on first-principles calculations and Floquet theorem, we show several realistic material candidates proposed as potential hosts for promising Floquet topological states, facilitating their verification in experiments. Abstract: In the effective field theory, the massless dark photon $\gamma'$ can only couple with the Standard Model particle through operators of dimension higher than four, thereby offering a high sensitivity to the new physics energy scale. Using $7.9~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the effective flavor-changing neutral current coupling of $cu\gamma'$ in $D^0\to\omega\gamma'$ and $D^0\to\gamma\gamma'$ processes to search for the massless dark photon. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the massless dark photon branching fraction are set to be $1.1\times10^{-5}$ and $2.0\times10^{-6}$ for $D^0\to\omega\gamma'$ and $D^0\to\gamma\gamma'$, respectively. These results provide the most stringent constraint on the new physics energy scale associated with $cu\gamma'$ coupling in the world, with the new physics energy scale related parameter $|\mathbb{C}|^2+|\mathbb{C}_5|^2<8.2\times10^{-17}~\rm{GeV}^{-2}$ at the 90% confidence level, playing a unique role in the dark sector search with the charm sector., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures

13. On-the-Fly Ab Initio Hagedorn Wavepacket Dynamics: Single Vibronic Level Fluorescence Spectra of Difluorocarbene

Abstract: Hagedorn wavepackets have been used with local harmonic approximation to partially capture the anharmonic effects on single vibronic level (SVL) spectra in model potentials. To make the Hagedorn approach practical for realistic anharmonic polyatomic molecules, here we combine local harmonic Hagedorn wavepacket dynamics with on-the-fly ab initio dynamics. We then test this method by computing the SVL fluorescence spectra of difluorocarbene, a small, floppy molecule with a very anharmonic potential energy surface. Our time-dependent approach obtains the emission spectra of all initial vibrational levels from a single anharmonic semiclassical wavepacket trajectory without the need to fit individual anharmonic vibrational wavefunctions and to calculate the Franck--Condon factors for all vibronic transitions. We show that, whereas global harmonic models are inadequate for CF$_2$, the spectra computed with the on-the-fly local harmonic Hagedorn wavepacket dynamics agree well with experimental data, especially for low initial excitations.

14. DiVE: DiT-based Video Generation with Enhanced Control

Abstract: Generating high-fidelity, temporally consistent videos in autonomous driving scenarios faces a significant challenge, e.g. problematic maneuvers in corner cases. Despite recent video generation works are proposed to tackcle the mentioned problem, i.e. models built on top of Diffusion Transformers (DiT), works are still missing which are targeted on exploring the potential for multi-view videos generation scenarios. Noticeably, we propose the first DiT-based framework specifically designed for generating temporally and multi-view consistent videos which precisely match the given bird's-eye view layouts control. Specifically, the proposed framework leverages a parameter-free spatial view-inflated attention mechanism to guarantee the cross-view consistency, where joint cross-attention modules and ControlNet-Transformer are integrated to further improve the precision of control. To demonstrate our advantages, we extensively investigate the qualitative comparisons on nuScenes dataset, particularly in some most challenging corner cases. In summary, the effectiveness of our proposed method in producing long, controllable, and highly consistent videos under difficult conditions is proven to be effective.

15. Nodeless superconductivity and topological nodal states in molybdenum carbide

Abstract: The orthorhombic molybdenum carbide superconductor with $T_c$ = 3.2 K was investigated by muon-spin rotation and relaxation ($\mu$SR) measurements and by first-principle calculations. The low-temperature superfluid density, determined by transverse-field $\mu$SR, suggests a fully-gapped superconducting state in Mo$_2$C, with a zero-temperature gap $\Delta_0$ = 0.44 meV and a magnetic penetration depth $\lambda_0$ = 291 nm. The time-reversal symmetry is preserved in the superconducting state, as confirmed by the absence of an additional muon-spin relaxation in the zero-field $\mu$SR spectra. Band-structure calculations indicate that the density of states at the Fermi level is dominated by the Mo $4d$-orbitals, which are marginally hybridized with the C $2p$-orbitals over a wide energy range. The symmetry analysis confirms that, in the absence of spin-orbit coupling (SOC), Mo$_2$C hosts twofold-degenerate nodal surfaces and fourfold-degenerate nodal lines. When considering SOC, the fourfold-degenerate nodal lines cross the Fermi level and contribute to the electronic properties. Our results suggest that, similarly to other phases of carbides, also the orthorhombic transition-metal carbides host topological nodal states and may be potential candidates for future studies of topological superconductivity., Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures

Abstract: Let $(V(u),\, u\in \mathcal{T})$ be a (supercritical) branching random walk and $(\eta_u,\,u\in \mathcal{T})$ be marks on the vertices of the tree, distributed in an i.i.d.\ fashion. Following Aldous and Bandyopadhyay \cite{AB05}, for each infinite ray $\xi$ of the tree, we associate the {\it discounted tree sum} $D(\xi)$ which is the sum of the $e^{-V(u)}\eta_u$ taken along the ray. The paper deals with the finiteness of $\sup_\xi D(\xi)$. To this end, we study the extreme behaviour of the local time processes of the paths $(V(u),\,u\in \xi)$. It answers a question of Nicolas Curien, and partially solves Open Problem 31 of Aldous and Bandyopadhyay \cite{AB05}. We also present several open questions.

17. Accelerating block-level rate control for learned image compression

Abstract: Despite the unprecedented compression efficiency achieved by deep learned image compression (LIC), existing methods usually approximate the desired bitrate by adjusting a single quality factor for a given input image, which may compromise the rate control results. Considering the Rate-Distortion (R - D) characteristics of different spatial content, this work introduces the block-level rate control based on a novel D - {\lambda} model specific for LIC. Furthermore, we try to exploit the inter-block correlations and propose a block-wise R - D prediction algorithm which greatly speeds up block-level rate control while still guaranteeing high accuracy. Experimental results show that the proposed rate control achieves up to 100 times, speed-up with more than 98% accuracy. Our approach provides an optimal bit allocation for each block and therefore improves the overall compression performance, which offers great potential for block-level LIC., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: Online question-and-answer (Q\&A) systems based on the Large Language Model (LLM) have progressively diverged from recreational to professional use. This paper proposed a Multi-Agent framework with environmentally reinforcement learning (E-RL) for code correction called Code Learning (Co-Learning) community, assisting beginners to correct code errors independently. It evaluates the performance of multiple LLMs from an original dataset with 702 error codes, uses it as a reward or punishment criterion for E-RL; Analyzes input error codes by the current agent; selects the appropriate LLM-based agent to achieve optimal error correction accuracy and reduce correction time. Experiment results showed that 3\% improvement in Precision score and 15\% improvement in time cost as compared with no E-RL method respectively. Abstract: Using a data sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy 3.773~GeV, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the decay $D^{+} \to K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} \pi^{+}$. The absolute branching fraction of $D^{+} \to K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0} \pi^{+}$ is measured to be $(2.97 \pm 0.09_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.05_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-3}$. The dominant intermediate process is $D^{+} \to K_{S}^{0}K^{*}(892)^{+}$, whose branching fraction is determined to be $(8.72 \pm 0.28_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.15_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-3}$, including all the $K^*(892)^+$ decays.

Abstract: For a graph $G$, let $\lambda_2(G)$ denote the second largest eigenvalue of the adjacency matrix of $G$. We determine the extremal trees with maximum/minimum adjacency eigenvalue $\lambda_2$ in the class $\mathcal{T}(n,d)$ of $n$-vertex trees with diameter $d$. This contributes to the literature on $\lambda_2$-extremization over different graph families. We also revisit the notion of the spectral center of a tree and the proof of $\lambda_2$ maximization over trees.

21. MaskGCT: Zero-Shot Text-to-Speech with Masked Generative Codec Transformer

Abstract: Nowadays, large-scale text-to-speech (TTS) systems are primarily divided into two types: autoregressive and non-autoregressive. The autoregressive systems have certain deficiencies in robustness and cannot control speech duration. In contrast, non-autoregressive systems require explicit prediction of phone-level duration, which may compromise their naturalness. We introduce the Masked Generative Codec Transformer (MaskGCT), a fully non-autoregressive model for TTS that does not require precise alignment information between text and speech. MaskGCT is a two-stage model: in the first stage, the model uses text to predict semantic tokens extracted from a speech self-supervised learning (SSL) model, and in the second stage, the model predicts acoustic tokens conditioned on these semantic tokens. MaskGCT follows the \textit{mask-and-predict} learning paradigm. During training, MaskGCT learns to predict masked semantic or acoustic tokens based on given conditions and prompts. During inference, the model generates tokens of a specified length in a parallel manner. We scale MaskGCT to a large-scale multilingual dataset with 100K hours of in-the-wild speech. Our experiments demonstrate that MaskGCT achieves superior or competitive performance compared to state-of-the-art zero-shot TTS systems in terms of quality, similarity, and intelligibility while offering higher generation efficiency than diffusion-based or autoregressive TTS models. 22. DSLO: Deep Sequence LiDAR Odometry Based on Inconsistent Spatio-temporal Propagation

Abstract: This paper introduces a 3D point cloud sequence learning model based on inconsistent spatio-temporal propagation for LiDAR odometry, termed DSLO. It consists of a pyramid structure with a spatial information reuse strategy, a sequential pose initialization module, a gated hierarchical pose refinement module, and a temporal feature propagation module. First, spatial features are encoded using a point feature pyramid, with features reused in successive pose estimations to reduce computational overhead. Second, a sequential pose initialization method is introduced, leveraging the high-frequency sampling characteristic of LiDAR to initialize the LiDAR pose. Then, a gated hierarchical pose refinement mechanism refines poses from coarse to fine by selectively retaining or discarding motion information from different layers based on gate estimations. Finally, temporal feature propagation is proposed to incorporate the historical motion information from point cloud sequences, and address the spatial inconsistency issue when transmitting motion information embedded in point clouds between frames. Experimental results on the KITTI odometry dataset and Argoverse dataset demonstrate that DSLO outperforms state-of-the-art methods, achieving at least a 15.67\% improvement on RTE and a 12.64\% improvement on RRE, while also achieving a 34.69\% reduction in runtime compared to baseline methods. 23. VPVet: Vetting Privacy Policies of Virtual Reality Apps

Abstract: Virtual reality (VR) apps can harvest a wider range of user data than web/mobile apps running on personal computers or smartphones. Existing law and privacy regulations emphasize that VR developers should inform users of what data are collected/used/shared (CUS) through privacy policies. However, privacy policies in the VR ecosystem are still in their early stages, and many developers fail to write appropriate privacy policies that comply with regulations and meet user expectations. In this paper, we propose VPVet to automatically vet privacy policy compliance issues for VR apps. VPVet first analyzes the availability and completeness of a VR privacy policy and then refines its analysis based on three key criteria: granularity, minimization, and consistency of CUS statements. Our study establishes the first and currently largest VR privacy policy dataset named VRPP, consisting of privacy policies of 11,923 different VR apps from 10 mainstream platforms. Our vetting results reveal severe privacy issues within the VR ecosystem, including the limited availability and poor quality of privacy policies, along with their coarse granularity, lack of adaptation to VR traits and the inconsistency between CUS statements in privacy policies and their actual behaviors. 24. Change-Aware Siamese Network for Surface Defects Segmentation under Complex Background

Abstract: Despite the eye-catching breakthroughs achieved by deep visual networks in detecting region-level surface defects, the challenge of high-quality pixel-wise defect detection remains due to diverse defect appearances and data scarcity. To avoid over-reliance on defect appearance and achieve accurate defect segmentation, we proposed a change-aware Siamese network that solves the defect segmentation in a change detection framework. A novel multi-class balanced contrastive loss is introduced to guide the Transformer-based encoder, which enables encoding diverse categories of defects as the unified class-agnostic difference between defect and defect-free images. The difference presented by a distance map is then skip-connected to the change-aware decoder to assist in the location of both inter-class and out-of-class pixel-wise defects. In addition, we proposed a synthetic dataset with multi-class liquid crystal display (LCD) defects under a complex and disjointed background context, to demonstrate the advantages of change-based modeling over appearance-based modeling for defect segmentation. In our proposed dataset and two public datasets, our model achieves superior performances than the leading semantic segmentation methods, while maintaining a relatively small model size. Moreover, our model achieves a new state-of-the-art performance compared to the semi-supervised approaches in various supervision settings.

Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected by the BESIII detector at BEPCII corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 30 $\rm fb^{-1}$, we measure Born cross sections and effective form factors for the process $e^+e^-\to\Xi^0\bar{\Xi}^0$ at forty-five center-of-mass energies between 3.51 and 4.95 GeV. The dressed cross section is fitted, assuming a power-law function plus a charmonium(-like) state, i.e., $\psi(3770)$, $\psi(4040)$, $\psi(4160)$, $\psi(4230)$, $\psi(4360)$, $\psi(4415)$ or $\psi(4660)$. No significant charmonium(-like) state decaying into $\Xi^0\bar\Xi^0$ is observed. Upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the product of the branching fraction and the electronic partial width are provided for each decay. In addition, ratios of the Born cross sections and the effective form factors for $e^+e^-\to\Xi^0\bar{\Xi}^0$ and $e^+e^-\to\Xi^-\bar{\Xi}^+$ are also presented to test isospin symmetry and the vector meson dominance model., Comment: 22 pages, 2 tables, 4 figures

Abstract: Using $(2712.4 \pm 14.3) \times 10^6~\psi$(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we search for the hadronic transition $h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi$ via $\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c$. No significant signal is observed. We set the most stringent upper limits to date on the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c)\times\mathcal{B}(h_c\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level, which are determined to be $6.7\times 10^{-7}$ and $9.4 \times10^{-4}$, respectively.

Abstract: In this Letter, a systematic study of the weak radiative hyperon decay $\Xi^{0}\to\Lambda\gamma$ at an electron-positron collider using entangled $\Xi^{0}\bar{\Xi}^{0}$ pair events is presented. The absolute branching fraction for this decay has been measured for the first time, and is $\left(1.347 \pm 0.066_{\mathrm stat.}\pm0.054_{\mathrm syst.}\right)\times 10^{-3}$. The decay asymmetry parameter, which characterizes the effect of parity violation in the decay, is determined to be $-0.741 \pm 0.062_{\mathrm stat.}\pm 0.019_{\mathrm syst.}$. The obtained results are consistent with the world average values within the uncertainties, offering valuable insights into the underlying mechanism governing the weak radiative hyperon decays. The charge conjugation parity ($CP$) symmetries of branching fraction and decay asymmetry parameter in the decay are also studied. 28. Semantics-Oriented Multitask Learning for DeepFake Detection: A Joint Embedding Approach

Abstract: In recent years, the multimedia forensics and security community has seen remarkable progress in multitask learning for DeepFake (i.e., face forgery) detection. The prevailing strategy has been to frame DeepFake detection as a binary classification problem augmented by manipulation-oriented auxiliary tasks. This strategy focuses on learning features specific to face manipulations, which exhibit limited generalizability. In this paper, we delve deeper into semantics-oriented multitask learning for DeepFake detection, leveraging the relationships among face semantics via joint embedding. We first propose an automatic dataset expansion technique that broadens current face forgery datasets to support semantics-oriented DeepFake detection tasks at both the global face attribute and local face region levels. Furthermore, we resort to joint embedding of face images and their corresponding labels (depicted by textual descriptions) for prediction. This approach eliminates the need for manually setting task-agnostic and task-specific parameters typically required when predicting labels directly from images. In addition, we employ a bi-level optimization strategy to dynamically balance the fidelity loss weightings of various tasks, making the training process fully automated. Extensive experiments on six DeepFake datasets show that our method improves the generalizability of DeepFake detection and, meanwhile, renders some degree of model interpretation by providing human-understandable explanations.

Abstract: Measurements of the strong-phase difference between $D^0$ and $\bar{D}^0\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ are performed in bins of phase space. The study exploits a sample of quantum-correlated $D\bar{D}$ mesons collected by the BESIII experiment in $e^+e^-$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93~fb$^{-1}$. Here, $D$ denotes a neutral charm meson in a superposition of flavor eigenstates. The reported results are valuable for measurements of the $C\!P$-violating phase $\gamma$ (also denoted $\phi_3$) in $B^\pm \to DK^\pm$, $D \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ decays, and the binning schemes are designed to provide good statistical sensitivity to this parameter. The expected uncertainty on $\gamma$ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of $B$-meson decays, is around $1.5^\circ$ or $2^\circ$, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of $F_+^{4\pi} = 0.746 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.004$ for the $C\!P$-even fraction of $D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ decays, which is around 30\% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity.

30. Phase-field-based lattice Boltzmann method for the transport of insoluble surfactant in two-phase flows

Abstract: In this work, we present a general second-order phase-field model for the transport of insoluble surfactant in incompressible two-phase flows. In this model, the second-order local Allen-Cahn equation is applied for interface capturing, a general form of the simple scalar transport equation [S. S. Jain, J. Comput. Phys. 515, 113277 (2024)] is adopted for interface-confined surfactant, and the consistent and conservative Navier-Stokes equations with the Marangoni force is used for fluid flows. To solve this model, we further developed a mesoscopic lattice Boltzmann (LB) method, in which the LB model for surfactant transport equation is proposed under the general LB framework for the convection-diffusion type equation, and it can correctly recover the governing equation for surfactant transport. The accuracy of the present LB method is tested by several benchmark problems, and the numerical results show it has a good performance for the transport of the insoluble surfactant in two-phase flows.

31. DiffAge3D: Diffusion-based 3D-aware Face Aging

Abstract: Face aging is the process of converting an individual's appearance to a younger or older version of themselves. Existing face aging techniques have been limited to 2D settings, which often weaken their applications as there is a growing demand for 3D face modeling. Moreover, existing aging methods struggle to perform faithful aging, maintain identity, and retain the fine details of the input images. Given these limitations and the need for a 3D-aware aging method, we propose DiffAge3D, the first 3D-aware aging framework that not only performs faithful aging and identity preservation but also operates in a 3D setting. Our aging framework allows to model the aging and camera pose separately by only taking a single image with a target age. Our framework includes a robust 3D-aware aging dataset generation pipeline by utilizing a pre-trained 3D GAN and the rich text embedding capabilities within CLIP model. Notably, we do not employ any inversion bottleneck in dataset generation. Instead, we randomly generate training samples from the latent space of 3D GAN, allowing us to manipulate the rich latent space of GAN to generate ages even with large gaps. With the generated dataset, we train a viewpoint-aware diffusion-based aging model to control the camera pose and facial age. Through quantitative and qualitative evaluations, we demonstrate that DiffAge3D outperforms existing methods, particularly in multiview-consistent aging and fine details preservation.

Abstract: Automatic disease diagnosis has become increasingly valuable in clinical practice. The advent of large language models (LLMs) has catalyzed a paradigm shift in artificial intelligence, with growing evidence supporting the efficacy of LLMs in diagnostic tasks. Despite the growing attention in this field, many critical research questions remain under-explored. For instance, what diseases and LLM techniques have been investigated for diagnostic tasks? How can suitable LLM techniques and evaluation methods be selected for clinical decision-making? To answer these questions, we performed a comprehensive analysis of LLM-based methods for disease diagnosis. This scoping review examined the types of diseases, associated organ systems, relevant clinical data, LLM techniques, and evaluation methods reported in existing studies. Furthermore, we offered guidelines for data preprocessing and the selection of appropriate LLM techniques and evaluation strategies for diagnostic tasks. We also assessed the limitations of current research and delineated the challenges and future directions in this research field. Abstract: Harsh working environments and work-related stress have been known to contribute to mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. As such, it is paramount to create solutions that can both detect employee unhappiness and find the root cause of the problem. While prior works have examined causes of mental health using machine learning, they typically focus on general mental health analysis, with few of them focusing on explainable solutions or looking at the workplace-specific setting. r/antiwork is a subreddit for the antiwork movement, which is the desire to stop working altogether. Using this subreddit as a proxy for work environment dissatisfaction, we create a new dataset for antiwork sentiment detection and subsequently train a model that highlights the words with antiwork sentiments. Following this, we performed a qualitative and quantitative analysis to uncover some of the key insights into the mindset of individuals who identify with the antiwork movement and how their working environments influenced them. We find that working environments that do not give employees authority or responsibility, frustrating recruiting experiences, and unfair compensation, are some of the leading causes of the antiwork sentiment, resulting in a lack of self-confidence and motivation among their employees., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures

Abstract: The scale of liquid xenon experiments for rare events searching is expanding, which is planned even to fifty tons level. The detector and distillation tower require a reliable cooling source with large cooling power at liquid xenon temperature range. Pulse tube refrigerators and GM refrigerators, which were widely used in previous detectors, have the disadvantages of small cooling power, large space occupation, and non-standby mutuality, which become bottlenecks of the experiment scale expansion. In this study, an auto-cascade refrigerator with ethanol coolant is developed, and the heat transfer effect is improved by adopting the concentric shaft heat exchanger and after-pumping heat transfer scheme. The 2.5 kW stable cooling power is obtained at 155 K. Further, the feasibility and key technology of the centralized cooling system of 5 kw at 160 K is discussed. 35. BIPeC: A Combined Change-Point Analyzer to Identify Performance Regressions in Large-scale Database Systems

Abstract: Performance testing in large-scale database systems like SAP HANA is a crucial yet labor-intensive task, involving extensive manual analysis of thousands of measurements, such as CPU time and elapsed time. Manual maintenance of these metrics is time-consuming and susceptible to human error, making early detection of performance regressions challenging. We address these issues by proposing an automated approach to detect performance regressions in such measurements. Our approach integrates Bayesian inference with the Pruned Exact Linear Time (PELT) algorithm, enhancing the detection of change points and performance regressions with high precision and efficiency compared to previous approaches. Our method minimizes false negatives and ensures SAP HANA's system's reliability and performance quality. 36. Cell-ontology guided transcriptome foundation model

Abstract: Transcriptome foundation models TFMs hold great promises of deciphering the transcriptomic language that dictate diverse cell functions by self-supervised learning on large-scale single-cell gene expression data, and ultimately unraveling the complex mechanisms of human diseases. However, current TFMs treat cells as independent samples and ignore the taxonomic relationships between cell types, which are available in cell ontology graphs. We argue that effectively leveraging this ontology information during the TFM pre-training can improve learning biologically meaningful gene co-expression patterns while preserving TFM as a general purpose foundation model for downstream zero-shot and fine-tuning tasks. To this end, we present \textbf{s}ingle \textbf{c}ell, \textbf{Cell}-\textbf{o}ntology guided TFM scCello. We introduce cell-type coherence loss and ontology alignment loss, which are minimized along with the masked gene expression prediction loss during the pre-training. The novel loss component guide scCello to learn the cell-type-specific representation and the structural relation between cell types from the cell ontology graph, respectively. We pre-trained scCello on 22 million cells from CellxGene database leveraging their cell-type labels mapped to the cell ontology graph from Open Biological and Biomedical Ontology Foundry. 37. Weight Scope Alignment: A Frustratingly Easy Method for Model Merging

Abstract: Merging models becomes a fundamental procedure in some applications that consider model efficiency and robustness. The training randomness or Non-I.I.D. data poses a huge challenge for averaging-based model fusion. Previous research efforts focus on element-wise regularization or neural permutations to enhance model averaging while overlooking weight scope variations among models, which can significantly affect merging effectiveness. In this paper, we reveal variations in weight scope under different training conditions, shedding light on its influence on model merging. Fortunately, the parameters in each layer basically follow the Gaussian distribution, which inspires a novel and simple regularization approach named Weight Scope Alignment (WSA). It contains two key components: 1) leveraging a target weight scope to guide the model training process for ensuring weight scope matching in the subsequent model merging. 2) fusing the weight scope of two or more models into a unified one for multi-stage model fusion. We extend the WSA regularization to two different scenarios, including Mode Connectivity and Federated Learning. Abundant experimental studies validate the effectiveness of our approach.

38. Mapping Hydrogen Evolution Activity Trends of V-based A15 Superconducting Alloys

Abstract: Exploring high-efficiency and low-cost electrocatalysts is valuable for water-splitting technologies. Recently, Si-group compounds have attracted increasing attention in electrocatalysis, considering the abundant Si-group elements on Earth. However, Si-group compounds for HER electrocatalysis have not been systematically studied. In this study, we unveil the activity trends of non-noble metal catalyst A15-type V3M (i.e., V3Si, V3Ge, and V3Sn) superconductors and show that V3Si is the most efficient HER catalyst because of the high electronic conductivity and suitable d-band center. Among them, the V3Si only requires 33.4 mV to reach 10 mA cm-2, and only 57.6 mV and 114.6 mV are required to attain a high current density of 100 mA cm-2 and 500 mA cm-2, respectively. These low overpotentials are close to the 34.3 mV at 10 mA cm-2 of state-of-art Pt/C (20 %) but superior to 168.5 mV of Pt/C (20 %) at 100 mA cm-2. Furthermore, the V3Si illustrates exceptional durability with no obvious decay in the 120 h at the different current densities (i.e., 10 - 250 mA cm-2). The excellent HER activity of V3Si alloy can be ascribed to the synergies of superior electronic conductivity and suitable d-band center. Moreover, DFT calculations reveal that the absolute hydrogen adsorption Gibbs free energy is decreased after introducing the V to Si. Abstract: By utilizing statistical methods to analyze bibliographic data, bibliometrics faces inherent limitations in identifying the most significant science and technology achievements and researchers. To overcome this challenge, we present an evaluatology-based science and technology evaluation methodology. At the heart of this approach lies the concept of an extended evaluation condition, encompassing eight crucial components derived from a field. We define four relationships that illustrate the connections among various achievements based on their mapped extended EC components, as well as their temporal and citation links. Within a relationship under an extended evaluation condition, evaluators can effectively compare these achievements by carefully addressing the influence of confounding variables. We establish a real-world evaluation system encompassing an entire collection of achievements, each of which is mapped to several components of an extended EC. Within a specific field like chip technology or open source, we construct a perfect evaluation model that can accurately trace the evolution and development of all achievements in terms of four relationships based on the real-world evaluation system. Building upon the foundation of the perfect evaluation model, we put forth four-round rules to eliminate non-significant achievements by utilizing four relationships. This process allows us to establish a pragmatic evaluation model that effectively captures the essential achievements, serving as a curated collection of the top N achievements within a specific field during a specific timeframe. Abstract: A force field is a critical component in molecular dynamics simulations for computational drug discovery. It must achieve high accuracy within the constraints of molecular mechanics' (MM) limited functional forms, which offers high computational efficiency. With the rapid expansion of synthetically accessible chemical space, traditional look-up table approaches face significant challenges. In this study, we address this issue using a modern data-driven approach, developing ByteFF, an Amber-compatible force field for drug-like molecules. To create ByteFF, we generated an expansive and highly diverse molecular dataset at the B3LYP-D3(BJ)/DZVP level of theory. This dataset includes 2.4 million optimized molecular fragment geometries with analytical Hessian matrices, along with 3.2 million torsion profiles. We then trained an edge-augmented, symmetry-preserving molecular graph neural network (GNN) on this dataset, employing a carefully optimized training strategy. Our model predicts all bonded and non-bonded MM force field parameters for drug-like molecules simultaneously across a broad chemical space. ByteFF demonstrates state-of-the-art performance on various benchmark datasets, excelling in predicting relaxed geometries, torsional energy profiles, and conformational energies and forces. 41. UNetMamba: An Efficient UNet-Like Mamba for Semantic Segmentation of High-Resolution Remote Sensing Images

Abstract: Semantic segmentation of high-resolution remote sensing images is vital in downstream applications such as land-cover mapping, urban planning and disaster assessment.Existing Transformer-based methods suffer from the constraint between accuracy and efficiency, while the recently proposed Mamba is renowned for being efficient. Therefore, to overcome the dilemma, we propose UNetMamba, a UNet-like semantic segmentation model based on Mamba. It incorporates a mamba segmentation decoder (MSD) that can efficiently decode the complex information within high-resolution images, and a local supervision module (LSM), which is train-only but can significantly enhance the perception of local contents. Extensive experiments demonstrate that UNetMamba outperforms the state-of-the-art methods with mIoU increased by 0.87% on LoveDA and 0.36% on ISPRS Vaihingen, while achieving high efficiency through the lightweight design, less memory footprint and reduced computational cost. 42. CaRDiff: Video Salient Object Ranking Chain of Thought Reasoning for Saliency Prediction with Diffusion

Abstract: Video saliency prediction aims to identify the regions in a video that attract human attention and gaze, driven by bottom-up features from the video and top-down processes like memory and cognition. Among these top-down influences, language plays a crucial role in guiding attention by shaping how visual information is interpreted. Existing methods primarily focus on modeling perceptual information while neglecting the reasoning process facilitated by language, where ranking cues are crucial outcomes of this process and practical guidance for saliency prediction. In this paper, we propose CaRDiff (Caption, Rank, and generate with Diffusion), a framework that imitates the process by integrating a multimodal large language model (MLLM), a grounding module, and a diffusion model, to enhance video saliency prediction. Specifically, we introduce a novel prompting method VSOR-CoT (Video Salient Object Ranking Chain of Thought), which utilizes an MLLM with a grounding module to caption video content and infer salient objects along with their rankings and positions. This process derives ranking maps that can be sufficiently leveraged by the diffusion model to decode the saliency maps for the given video accurately. Extensive experiments show the effectiveness of VSOR-CoT in improving the performance of video saliency prediction. The proposed CaRDiff performs better than state-of-the-art models on the MVS dataset and demonstrates cross-dataset capabilities on the DHF1k dataset through zero-shot evaluation.

43. Capturing anharmonic effects in single vibronic level fluorescence spectra using local harmonic Hagedorn wavepacket dynamics

Abstract: Hagedorn wavepacket dynamics yields exact single vibronic level (SVL) fluorescence spectra from any initial vibrational level in displaced, squeezed, and Duschinsky-rotated global harmonic models. Real molecules, however, have anharmonic potential energy surfaces. To partially describe effects of anharmonicity on the spectra, we combine the Hagedorn approach to spectroscopy with the local harmonic approximation of the potential. We compute the SVL spectra for several anharmonic Morse-type potentials in one, two, and twenty dimensions and compare them to the results of global harmonic approximations and, where possible, of exact quantum calculations. Abstract: This work introduces a novel and generalizable multi-view Hand Mesh Reconstruction (HMR) model, named POEM, designed for practical use in real-world hand motion capture scenarios. The advances of the POEM model consist of two main aspects. First, concerning the modeling of the problem, we propose embedding a static basis point within the multi-view stereo space. A point represents a natural form of 3D information and serves as an ideal medium for fusing features across different views, given its varied projections across these views. Consequently, our method harnesses a simple yet effective idea: a complex 3D hand mesh can be represented by a set of 3D basis points that 1) are embedded in the multi-view stereo, 2) carry features from the multi-view images, and 3) encompass the hand in it. The second advance lies in the training strategy. We utilize a combination of five large-scale multi-view datasets and employ randomization in the number, order, and poses of the cameras. By processing such a vast amount of data and a diverse array of camera configurations, our model demonstrates notable generalizability in the real-world applications. As a result, POEM presents a highly practical, plug-and-play solution that enables user-friendly, cost-effective multi-view motion capture for both left and right hands. Abstract: An ideal dialogue system requires continuous skill acquisition and adaptation to new tasks while retaining prior knowledge. Dialogue State Tracking (DST), vital in these systems, often involves learning new services and confronting catastrophic forgetting, along with a critical capability loss termed the "Value Selection Quandary." To address these challenges, we introduce the Reason-of-Select (RoS) distillation method by enhancing smaller models with a novel 'meta-reasoning' capability. Meta-reasoning employs an enhanced multi-domain perspective, combining fragments of meta-knowledge from domain-specific dialogues during continual learning. This transcends traditional single-perspective reasoning. The domain bootstrapping process enhances the model's ability to dissect intricate dialogues from multiple possible values. Its domain-agnostic property aligns data distribution across different domains, effectively mitigating forgetting. Additionally, two novel improvements, "multi-value resolution" strategy and Semantic Contrastive Reasoning Selection method, significantly enhance RoS by generating DST-specific selection chains and mitigating hallucinations in teachers' reasoning, ensuring effective and reliable knowledge transfer. Extensive experiments validate the exceptional performance and robust generalization capabilities of our method. 46. Moonshine: Distilling Game Content Generators into Steerable Generative Models

Abstract: Procedural Content Generation via Machine Learning (PCGML) has enhanced game content creation, yet challenges in controllability and limited training data persist. This study addresses these issues by distilling a constructive PCG algorithm into a controllable PCGML model. We first generate a large amount of content with a constructive algorithm and label it using a Large Language Model (LLM). We use these synthetic labels to condition two PCGML models for content-specific generation, a diffusion model and the five-dollar model. This neural network distillation process ensures that the generation aligns with the original algorithm while introducing controllability through plain text. We define this text-conditioned PCGML as a Text-to-game-Map (T2M) task, offering an alternative to prevalent text-to-image multi-modal tasks. We compare our distilled models with the baseline constructive algorithm. Our analysis of the variety, accuracy, and quality of our generation demonstrates the efficacy of distilling constructive methods into controllable text-conditioned PCGML models.

Abstract: Using $(10087\pm44)\times10^6J/\psi$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the rare decay $J/\psi \to \gamma D^0+c.c.$ for the first time. No obvious signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be ${\cal B}(J/\psi \to \gamma D^{0}+c.c.)< 9.1 \times 10^{-8}$ at 90\% confidence level.

48. Case Study: Runtime Safety Verification of Neural Network Controlled System

Abstract: Neural networks are increasingly used in safety-critical applications such as robotics and autonomous vehicles. However, the deployment of neural-network-controlled systems (NNCSs) raises significant safety concerns. Many recent advances overlook critical aspects of verifying control and ensuring safety in real-time scenarios. This paper presents a case study on using POLAR-Express, a state-of-the-art NNCS reachability analysis tool, for runtime safety verification in a Turtlebot navigation system using LiDAR. The Turtlebot, equipped with a neural network controller for steering, operates in a complex environment with obstacles. We developed a safe online controller switching strategy that switches between the original NNCS controller and an obstacle avoidance controller based on the verification results. Our experiments, conducted in a ROS2 Flatland simulation environment, explore the capabilities and limitations of using POLAR-Express for runtime verification and demonstrate the effectiveness of our switching strategy., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Runtime Verification 2024

49. Kolmogorov Arnold Networks in Fraud Detection: Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Practice

Abstract: This study evaluates the applicability of Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KAN) in fraud detection, finding that their effectiveness is context-dependent. We propose a quick decision rule using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to assess the suitability of KAN: if data can be effectively separated in two dimensions using splines, KAN may outperform traditional models; otherwise, other methods could be more appropriate. We also introduce a heuristic approach to hyperparameter tuning, significantly reducing computational costs. These findings suggest that while KAN has potential, its use should be guided by data-specific assessments.

50. A Survey of Trojan Attacks and Defenses to Deep Neural Networks

Abstract: Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) have found extensive applications in safety-critical artificial intelligence systems, such as autonomous driving and facial recognition systems. However, recent research has revealed their susceptibility to Neural Network Trojans (NN Trojans) maliciously injected by adversaries. This vulnerability arises due to the intricate architecture and opacity of DNNs, resulting in numerous redundant neurons embedded within the models. Adversaries exploit these vulnerabilities to conceal malicious Trojans within DNNs, thereby causing erroneous outputs and posing substantial threats to the efficacy of DNN-based applications. This article presents a comprehensive survey of Trojan attacks against DNNs and the countermeasure methods employed to mitigate them. Initially, we trace the evolution of the concept from traditional Trojans to NN Trojans, highlighting the feasibility and practicality of generating NN Trojans. Subsequently, we provide an overview of notable works encompassing various attack and defense strategies, facilitating a comparative analysis of their approaches. Through these discussions, we offer constructive insights aimed at refining these techniques. In recognition of the gravity and immediacy of this subject matter, we also assess the feasibility of deploying such attacks in real-world scenarios as opposed to controlled ideal datasets. The potential real-world implications underscore the urgency of addressing this issue effectively.
