In recent years, image perception such as enhancement, classification and object detection with deep learning has achieved significant successes. However, in real world under extreme conditions, the training of a deep learning model often yields low accuracy, low efficiency in feature extraction and generalizability, due to the inner uncourteous and uninterpretable characteristics. In this paper, a maximal-entropy-attention-based convolutional neural network (MEA-CNN) framework is proposed. A maximum entropy algorithm is first used for image feature pre-extraction. An attention mechanism is then proposed by combining the extracted features on original images. By applying the mechanism, the key areas of an image are enhanced, and noised area can be ignored. Afterward, the processed images are transferred into region convolutional neural network, which is a well-known pre-trained CNN model, for further feature learning and extraction. Finally, two real-world experiments on traffic sign recognition and road surface condition monitoring are designed. The results show that the proposed framework has high testing accuracy, with improvements of 17% and 2.9%, compared with some other existing methods. A cart‐double pendulum system is an underactuated mechanical system that has three degrees of freedom (DOF) and has two actuators. This paper discusses the stabilizing control problem for this non‐linear mechanical system. First, an input relationship is constructed to transform the 3‐DOF cart‐double pendulum system into a 2‐DOF reduced‐order system in a fixed time. Second, a swing‐up controller is designed for the reduced‐order system to make the system infinitely approach upright equilibrium point. After that, the swing‐up controller switches to a fixed‐time balance stabilization controller, which stabilizes the cart‐double pendulum at the upright equilibrium point in a fixed time. A spring-coupled three-link horizontal manipulator (STHM) is an underactuated mechanical system that possesses two control inputs and three degrees of freedom (DOF). This paper discusses the stabilization control problem for this multi-DOF underactuated system. By using an energy-absorbing idea, we design two types of virtual friction controllers: PsD controller and PD controller. Additionally, the stability of the control system is analyzed based on Lyapunov theory and LaSalle's invariance principle. The design of the stabilizing controller in this paper makes good use of the physical characteristics of the STHM system. The design process of the whole control system is simple. This paper investigates the distributed event-triggered control problems of second-order nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs) with directed graph. Firstly, an event-triggered consensus algorithm is developed for second-order nonlinear MASs. It is proved that MASs reach practical consensus and Zeno-behavior doesn't occur. Secondly, for leader–follower MASs, an event-triggered tracking algorithm is presented, which ensures that follower agents track leader agent even when leader agent has a nonzero input. A WAcrobot is an underactuated nonlinear system that has three degrees of freedom (DOF) and two inputs. This paper discusses the global stabilization control problem for this 3-DOF underactuated system. A new control strategy is developed to solve this problem. The strategy first changes the 3-DOF WAcrobot system to be a 2-DOF reduced-order model in finite time. This transforms the stabilizing control of the WAcrobot system into that of the reduced-order model. After that, nonsingular control laws that globally stabilize the reduced-order model at the origin are designed. It guarantees the stabilizing control objective of the WAcrobot to be achieved. Summary: A cart‐pendulum system is a nonlinear underactuated mechanical system with two degrees of freedom. This paper addresses the motion trajectory design and tracking control problems for this underactuated system. First, a friction‐like control law is designed for the system. Then, the characteristics of the closed‐loop control system are analyzed. Second, a new method of constructing an optimal trajectory for the system is developed. Then, a tracking control law is designed to quickly track the constructed trajectory. It guarantees that the motion control of the cart‐pendulum system is achieved along a reference trajectory. Finally, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results. This study constructs an optimal trajectory for the cart‐pendulum system in its whole motion space and solves the motion control objective by tracking the constructed trajectory. A translational oscillator with a rotational actuator (TORA) is an underactuated mechanical system with two degrees of freedom. This paper presents a new method to solve the global stabilisation control problem for this underactuated system. First, a set of suitable state variables is chosen for the TORA. It transforms the system into a cascade affine nonlinear system. Then, a positive-definite Lyapunov function is constructed based on the structural characteristics of the system. A control law is designed to guarantee that the derivative of the Lyapunov function is non-positive. Finally, the global stability of the closed-loop control system is analysed using the Lasalle invariance principle. An underactuated wheeled inverted pendulum (UWIP) is a nonlinear mechanical system that has two degrees of freedom and has only one control input. The motion planning problem for this nonlinear system is difficult to solve because of the existence of an uncontrollable manifold in the configuration space. In this paper, we present a method of designing motion trajectory for this underactuated system. The design of trajectory is based on the dynamic properties of the UWIP system. Furthermore, the tracking control of the UWIP for the constructed trajectory is also studied. A tracking control law is designed by using quadratic optimal control theory. This paper addresses the problem of exponential stability and stabilization for a class of delayed distributed parameter systems, which is modeled by partial integro-differential equations (PIDEs). By employing the vector-valued Wirtinger's inequality, the sufficient condition of exponential stability of the PIDE system with a given decay rate is investigated. The condition is presented by linear matrix inequality (LMIs). After that, we develop a spatial proportional-integral-derivative state-feedback controller that ensures the exponential stabilization of the PIDE system in terms of LMIs. In this paper, we use an underactuated four-link gymnast robot (UFGR) with a passive first joint to model a gymnast on the bar, and consider the stabilization of the UFGR at the straight-up position. First, we introduce a coupled relationship between control torques for the UFGR. It decouples some state variables of the UFGR from others and changes the nonlinear UFGR system into a cascade-connected system. And then, we use an energy-based method to design a stabilizing controller for the zero dynamics of the cascade-connected system. And the triangle lemma guarantees the control objective of the UFGR to be achieved. The torque-coupled method transforms the stabilization of an underactuated four-link manipulator into that of an underactuated two-link acrobot. This makes the structure of the control system simple. Moreover, our proposed control strategy is easy to extend to the stabilization control of other multi-input nonlinear underactuated systems. This paper concerns the global stabilization of an underactuated spring-coupled three-link horizontal manipulator (STHM), which is an underactuated mechanical system (UMS) with two actuators and three degrees of freedom (DOF). A new control method is developed that asymptotically stabilizes the STHM at the origin using the position measurements of the manipulator only. First, we introduce a homeomorphic coordinate transformation for the STHM system. This changes the stabilization of the STHM into that of the transformed system. Next, we analyze the characteristics of the transformed system. After that, we construct an equivalent-input-disturbance- (EID-) based control system to globally stabilize the transformed system at the origin. Finally, a numerical example demonstrates the validity of the presented method. Our method only uses the position measurements of the STHM to design stabilizing controller. It reduces the cost of the whole control system and avoids the influence on the system’s control performance imposed by velocity noises. This paper concerns the stabilization of an underactuated two-link gymnast robot called acrobot. A trajectory tracking control strategy is presented. First, we carry out a homeomorphous coordinate transformation on the acrobot system that transforms it into a new simplified nonlinear system. And then, a desired motion trajectory is designed for the new system. Finally, we use an equivalent-input-disturbance (EID) method to design a controller that makes the new system asymptotically track the desired trajectory. This enables the acrobot to be swung up from the downward position and to be stabilized at the upright position. The proposed strategy changes the stabilization of the nonlinear acrobot system into that of a linear time-invariant error dynamic system with an artificial disturbance. And it uses a single controller to accomplish the motion control objective of the acrobot. These makes the strategy simple and efficient. This paper studies the existence and stability of periodic solution of the high-order discrete-time Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with varying delays. The properties of M-matrix and the contracting mapping principle are used to obtain a sufficient condition that guarantees the uniqueness and global exponential stability of the periodic solution. SUMMARY An underactuated three-link gymnast robot (UTGR) is a simple model of a gymnast on a high bar. The control objective of a UTGR is to swing it up from a point near the straight-down position and to stabilize it at the straight-up position. To achieve this, we first divide the motion space into two subspaces, swing-up area and balancing area, and design a controller for each. The design of a swing-up control law that ensures that the UTGR enters the balancing area is crucial because the UTGR is subject to a nonholonomic constraint and is highly nonlinear during the swing-up motion. This study focused on how to design a swing-up control law that contains no singularities. The key concept is the introduction of a virtual coupling between control torques, which converts the problem of avoiding singularities to one of imposing constraints on the parameters of the control law and properly selecting those parameters. A swing-up control law thus designed ensures that the UTGR enters the balancing area in a natural stretched-out posture. This makes it easy to stabilize the UTGR in the balancing area. In this paper, we analyze the dynamic behavior of periodic solution for the high-order discrete-time Cohen–Grossberg neural networks (CGNNs) with time delays. In this paper, the bipartite consensus problem for second-order multi-agent systems with no leader, one leader and multiple leaders are investigated, where the information exchange is disturbed by measurement noise and antagonistic information. In order to attenuate the effect of communication noise, a time-varying gain c (t) is utilized and the stochastic approximation bipartite control protocol is proposed. It is given that the underlying protocol can solve the bipartite consensus problem for MASs with no leader/one leader/multiple leaders if the communication topology is strongly connected/has a spanning tree/has a spanning forest and the c (t) satisfies some mild condition. Meanwhile, for system with these three cases, a series of sufficient and necessary conditions are given. Especially, for the case with no leader, we obtain that the final state of agent is related with the initial position and initial velocity of each agent. For the case with one leader, we can get that the followers in one group can follow up the state of one leader, and the followers in another group tend to the opposite value. Additionally, for the case with multiple leaders, the containment control can be achieved where followers' states in one group can converge to the quai-convex hull of leaders' state and the ones in another group converge to the opposite convex hull. Based on the traditional control approach, the position-tracking performance of the teleoperation system with communication delay is generally asymptotically stable. In practical applications, the closed-loop system is expected to achieve stable and finite-time convergence performance. A novel finite-time bilateral control scheme for a telerobotics system with communication delay is presented in this paper. On the basis of the traditional proportional damping injection control, this paper proposes and designs a new finite-time control method by introducing the non-integer power to the position error, velocity, and the combined error with position error and velocity. In comparison to existing proportional damping injection and finite-time control structures, the proposed method not only achieves the finite-time convergence performance of position tracking, but it also has the advantages of a simple structure and fewer gain coefficients. The controller also incorporates the radial basis function (RBF) neural network and adaptive approach to compensate unknown dynamics and external forces, thus also avoiding the measurement of force signals. The Lyapunov–Krasovskii function is then defined, and it is demonstrated that the position tracking of closed-loop teleoperation system has bounded stability and finite-time control performance. The simulation experiment is also performed, and the results further illustrated the bounded stability of the system. Moreover, compared to the position tracking errors of other non-finite-time control methods, it is demonstrated that the proposed finite-time control scheme has a faster convergence rate and higher convergence precision. Abstract: This paper concerns the existence and exponential stability of periodic solution for the high-order discrete-time bidirectional associative memory (BAM) neural networks with time-varying delays. First, we present the criteria for the existence of periodic solution based on the continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory and the Young’s inequality, and then we give the criteria for the global exponential stability of periodic solution by using a non-Lyapunov method. After that, we give a numerical example that demonstrates the effectiveness of the theoretical results. The criteria presented in this paper are easy to verify. Abstract: This paper concerns motion planning and tracking control for an acrobot. We first introduce an artificial friction torque in order to construct a downward trajectory, and rewind it to make an upward trajectory. Then, we combine the upward trajectory with a stabilizing trajectory to make a complete trajectory. Finally, we use the pole assignment method to design a tracking controller that makes the acrobot exponentially track the whole trajectory. This enables the acrobot to be swung up from the straight-down position and stabilized at the straight-up position. Unlike the most commonly used switching stabilization control methods, the strategy presented here features a single controller for motion control in the whole motion space. This article considers the design problem of H∞$$ {H}_{\infty } $$ observer‐based fault‐tolerant control under three faulty cases: sensor only, actuator only, and both sensor and actuator faults. To save communication resources, the event trigger mechanism method is used for sensor‐to‐observer and observer‐to‐controller transmissions. In this case, the design method of the new H∞$$ {H}_{\infty } $$ observer is given for obtaining estimating both states and faults which are used to design observer‐based H∞$$ {H}_{\infty } $$ fault‐tolerant controllers. In particular, the virtual observer is designed to suppress the effects of faults on the system. As the virtual observer contains unmeasurable system information, the real observer is built on top of the virtual observer to eliminate the unmeasurable information. There are few results concerning consensus of multiagent systems (MASs) based on partial differential equations (PDEs), and the problem of how to act boundary control based on distributed measurement on spatial boundary points of MASs has not been solved. This paper addresses boundary control based on distributed measurement for output consensus of leader-following directed MASs modeled by parabolic PDEs. First, a boundary controller acting on spatial boundary points is designed by considering the delivered information produced by agents communicating with neighborhoods. Without considering input constraint, the Lyapunov’s direct method is used to obtain a sufficient condition on the existence of the boundary controller to achieve output consensus. The condition is expressed as a form of the feasibility of LMIs. After that, the whole input constraint for MASs is given. And then, one more condition on control gains is obtained to ensure the existence of the boundary controller with input constraint. This paper is devoted to work out a stabilized controller by state feedback for a class of nonlinear systems. In this paper, we not only extend the existing results that system has a single power term to the case with multiple coupling power terms, but also consider that the power is time varying, which makes the system studied in this paper more general than that in other literature. By the backstepping method, a linear easy-to-implement controller is designed, which not only ensures the stability of the system but also has a good convergence speed. Finally, with a representative numerical example, by calculating all the parameters in the design procedure, the simulation shows that all the responses of the states and the controller are asymptotically stable at the equilibrium zero, which verifies the effectiveness of the control design scheme of this paper. This article studies the simultaneous fault‐tolerant control and disturbance rejection for systems with fault in polynomial form. The unknown external disturbance is considered to be caused by the external source system, and the fault can be expressed as a polynomial function of time. Combining the fault observer and the disturbance observer, a controller is designed, which can not only diagnose the fault, but also improve the anti‐disturbance performance. Communication delay is an important factor affecting the stability and performance of telerobotic systems. In this paper, a new adaptive proportional damping controller is proposed to improve the stability and performance of the system in the presence of the cases such as asymmetric communication delay, unknown gravity torque, friction torque, and other disturbance torques. The proposed proportional damping control method combines the RBF neural network and adaptive control strategy to compensate for the unknown torque. The stability and robustness of the system are enhanced by adding error-damping items, operator force, and environmental force items. The Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional is employed to analyze and prove the exponential stability and signal boundedness of the closed-loop system. Summary: This article studies the adaptive control for synchronization of semi‐linear complex spatio‐temporal networks (CSNs). And the leader‐following and leaderless CSN with time‐invariant coupling delay and time‐variant coupling delay are developed separately from two aspects. The adaptive control strategies are proposed to reach the asymptotic convergence of synchronization error. Synchronization criteria and sufficient conditions are obtained for the leader‐following CSN error model and leaderless CSN error model by constructing the apposite Lyapunov–Krasovskii functions and applying Wirtinger's inequality. A multiobject holographic feedback (MOHF) control method for studying the nonlinear differential algebraic (NDA) system is proposed. In this method, the nonlinear control law is designed in a homeomorphous linear space by means of constructing the multiobject equations (MOEq) which is in accord with Brunovsky normal form. The objective functions of MOEq are considered to be the errors between the output functions and their references. The relative degree for algebraic system is defined that is key to connecting the nonlinear and the linear control laws. Pole assignment method is addressed for the stability domain of this MOHF control. Since there is no any approximation, the MOHF control is effective in governing the dynamic performance stably both to the small and major disturbance. The application in single machine infinite system (SMIS) shows that this approach is effective in the improvement of stable and transient stability for power system on the disturbance of active power or three-phase short circuit fault. The quality and price of rice wines vary greatly under different origins. Therefore, identifying the origins of rice wines is essential to product quality evaluation and market maintenance. The electronic nose (e-nose) has been applied as an effective recognition technology for food origins when used in conjunction with attention mechanisms (AMs). However, the ability of traditional AMs to learn features from the e-nose data is limited, affecting the performance of e-nose system. Motivated by this, a collaborative strategy that combines a self-developed e-nose system and a convolution dot-product AM (CDPAM) is proposed to improve the performance of origin identification for rice wines. First, gas information of rice wine samples for 10 production origins is acquired by the self-developed e-nose system. Second, gas information is processed with the proposed CDPAM module for origin identification, and the ability of feature learning for origin classification models is enhanced using the CDPAM. Finally, compared with the classification results of multiple AMs, multiple models, and ablation studies, the best identification performance for rice wine origins, including an accuracy of 98.47 %, an F 1 -score of 98.53 %, a kappa coefficient of 98.30 %, a precision of 98.69 and a recall of 98.37 %, is achieved using the e-nose, CDPAM, and residual network50 models. In conclusion, effective identification for rice wine origins is achieved by the e-nose and CDPAM. This paper deals with the problem of event-triggered control (ETC) for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft systems under actuator saturation. By introducing the VTOL system with saturated actuators, a composite quadratic Lyapunov function (CQLF) approach is first proposed to describe the problem of the event triggering mechanism. The proposed transfer mechanism not only further saves communication resources, but also further suppresses the conservatism of the attraction domain estimation. Then, sufficient conditions are established via linear matrix inequality (LMI) by incorporating new event triggering mechanism condition and prescribed passive performance metrics under the closed-loop system that is asymptotically stable and strictly passive, respectively. Finally, the method proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the number of triggers and expand the domain of attraction. This paper investigates the event-triggered containment control problem of a class of uncertain nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs). By employing the local relative information, we design an adaptive event-triggered containment algorithm. The proposed containment algorithm can cope with the unavailability of global topology information and uncertain dynamics of follower agents. Therefore, the presented containment algorithm is free of global topology information, i.e., the designed algorithm is fully distributed. In addition, it is proved that Zeno behavior will not occur. Summary: In this paper, we investigate the pinning synchronization of directed complex network with time‐varying delay under the adaptive aperiodically intermittent control. First, the model of a directed complex network is established, the interaction graph of which is not required to contain a directed spanning tree, and for which an adaptive aperiodically intermittent feedback controller is well designed. In addition, based on the Lyapunov function method and linear matrix inequality technique, several asymptotical synchronization criteria are derived via an aperiodically intermittent strategy, which is superior to the periodical scheme. The target of this article is to study almost periodic dynamical behaviors for complex-valued recurrent neural networks with discontinuous activation functions and time-varying delays. We construct an equivalent discontinuous right-hand equation by decomposing real and imaginary parts of complex-valued neural networks. Based on differential inclusions theory, diagonal dominant principle and nonsmooth analysis theory of generalized Lyapunov function method, we achieve the existence, uniqueness and global stability of almost periodic solution for the equivalent delayed differential network. In particular, we derive a series of results on the equivalent neural networks with discontinuous activation functions, constant coefficients as well as periodic coefficients, respectively. There is spatio‐temporal nature for many multi‐agent systems such as infight hose‐and‐drogue aerial refuelling systems. To deal with consensus control of such cases, this study establishes a non‐linear leader‐following spatio‐temporal multi‐agent system modelled by partial differential equations. Initially, a boundary controller based on boundary coupling is studied to ensure consensus of the multi‐agent system. A sufficient condition on the existence of the controller for consensus is presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities. To simplify the obtained result, a second boundary controller is studied and a simple sufficient condition of its existence is investigated. Finally, two numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. This paper addresses the exponential synchronization problem of a class of master-slave distributed parameter systems (DPSs) with spatially variable coefficients and spatiotemporally variable nonlinear perturbation, modeled by a couple of semilinear parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs). With a locally Lipschitz constraint, the perturbation is a continuous function of time, space, and system state. Firstly, a sufficient condition for the robust exponential synchronization of the unforced semilinear master-slave PDE systems is investigated for all admissible nonlinear perturbations. Secondly, a robust distributed proportional-spatial derivative (P-sD) state feedback controller is desired such that the closed-loop master-slave PDE systems achieve exponential synchronization. Using Lyapunov’s direct method and the technique of integration by parts, the main results of this paper are presented in terms of spatial differential linear matrix inequalities (SDLMIs). Finally, two numerical examples are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods applied to the robust exponential synchronization problem of master-slave PDE systems with nonlinear perturbation. This paper discusses consensus control of nonlinear coupled parabolic PDE-ODE-based multi-agent systems (PDE-ODEMASs). First, a consensus controller of leaderless PDE-ODEMASs is designed. Based on a Lyapunov-based approach, coupling strengths are obtained for leaderless PDE-ODEMASs to achieve leaderless consensus. Furthermore, a consensus controller in the leader-following PDE-ODEMAS is designed and the corresponding coupling strengths are obtained to ensure the leader-following consensus.
