24. Generative Adversarial Networks with Physical Evaluators for Spray Simulation of Pintle Injector

Abstract

Due to the adjustable geometry, pintle injectors are specially suitable for the liquid rocket engines which require a widely throttleable range. While applying the conventional computational fluid dynamics approaches to simulate the complex spray phenomena in the whole range still remains to be a great challenge. In this paper, a novel deep learning approach used to simulate instantaneous spray fields under continuous operating conditions is explored. Based on one specific type of neural networks and the idea of physics constraint, a Generative Adversarial Networks with Physics Evaluators (GAN-PE) framework is proposed. The geometry design and mass flux information are embedded as the inputs. After the adversarial training between the generator and discriminator, the generated field solutions are fed into the two physics evaluators. In this framework, mass conversation evaluator is designed to improve the training robustness and convergence. And the spray angle evaluator, which is composed of a down-sampling CNN and theoretical model, guides the networks generating the spray solutions more according with the injection conditions. The characterization of the simulated spray, including the spray morphology, droplet distribution and spray angle, is well predicted. Abstract

Nowadays, various types of electrical facilities and the elevated demand for the wider application of electronic devices in future smart cities are calling for next‐generation batteries of higher energy density, superior rate capability, and extended cycling performance. Multi‐electron systems, based on related reactions and materials, have been considered as promising battery systems for future applications, and massive attempts have been made to achieve their practical use. Therefore, a comprehensive realization of multi‐electron reactions is imperative for the exploitation of innovative multi‐electron materials and steps forward to higher battery performances. In this review, the fundamental conception of multi‐electron reactions and their application bottlenecks are given from both theoretical principles and practice. Multi‐electron materials generally face problems from both thermodynamics and kinetics, including material dissolution, low intrinsic conductivity, low ion transport, etcetera, which seriously hinder their future application. Given all this, current prioritization schemes are summarized, thus making a better understanding of the working mechanisms of the modification methods and inspiring prospects of practical multi‐electron materials. Abstract

Ionic conductive hydrogels (ICHs) have recently gained prominence in biosensing, indicating their potential to redefine future biomedical applications. However, the integration of these hydrogels into sensor technologies and their long‐term efficacy in practical applications pose substantial challenges, including a synergy of features, such as mechanical adaptability, conductive sensitivity, self‐adhesion, self‐regeneration, and microbial resistance. To address these challenges, this study introduces a novel hydrogel system using an imidazolium salt with a ureido backbone (UL) as the primary monomer. Fabricated via a straightforward one‐pot copolymerization process that includes betaine sulfonate methacrylate (SBMA) and acrylamide (AM), the hydrogel demonstrates multifunctional properties. The innovation of this hydrogel is attributed to its robust mechanical attributes, outstanding strain responsiveness, effective water retention, and advanced self‐regenerative and healing capabilities, which collectively lead to its superior performance in various applications. Moreover, this hydrogel exhibited broad‐spectrum antibacterial activity. Its potential for biomechanical monitoring, especially in tandem with contact and noncontact electrocardiogram (ECG) devices, represents a noteworthy advancement in precise real‐time cardiac monitoring in clinical environments. In addition, the conductive properties of the hydrogel make it an ideal substrate for electrophoretic patches aimed at treating infected wounds and consequently enhancing the healing process. Abstract

This paper uses a single fiber bragg grating (FBG) sensor to implement an experiment to measure vibration and temperature signals at the same time, and proposes a MATLAB-based decoupling method to separate vibration and temperature signals. The experimental results show that under the condition of single signal measurement, the static temperature measurement error of the FBG sensor is within ±0.4 ℃ and the relative error of the dynamic measurement of the main frequency of vibration is 0.5%. The FBG sensor measures the composite signal of vibration and temperature. The relative error of the main vibration frequency obtained by the decoupling method proposed in this experiment is 0.65%, the relative error of the vibration amplitude is 7.14%, and the temperature signal error is within ±3.3 ℃.
