13. Mechanical Properties of Porous T16A14V Materials with Different Lattice Structures Printed by SLM.

Abstract

Hollow cubic, G7 and BCC porous Ti6A14V materials with cubic lattice as unit were fabricated by SLM processing. Their elastic moduli were all within the range of human natural bone. Static compression and tensile tests were carried out to study the compressive and tensile properties of porous materials. BCC structure showed better compressive and tensile strength compared with the other two. Due to the complexity of the porous implant workload, it is found that the G7 structure supported by tilting struts has a slow fatigue failure rate and performs better than the other two under dynamic compression loading by applying alternating loads to the porous materials with different lattice structures. In the analysis of fatigue failure, it is found that the fatigue crack source of SLM porous material mainly occurs near the pore inside the material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A new diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating was deposited on high speed steel based on the cathodic arc technology, using two different kinds of cleaning technologies for processing sample#1 and sample#2 respectively. The morphology of the coating was investigated by FEI Quanta 200 FEG scanning electron microscopy. The adhesion of the diamond film to the inserts was evaluated with RHC indentation method. Then two kinds of coating binding force were figured out according to the indentation edge crack reference. The results showed that the coating surface was smooth, dense and no crack phenomenon with chemical and ultrasonic cleaning, and the bonding force level was HF1. Compared with ethanol cleaning, it had higher surface quality and bonding force with washing machine cleaning.1
