Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is the treasure of China, and the quality control of TCM is of crucial importance. In recent years, with the quick rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and the rapid development of hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology, the combination of the two has been widely used in the quality evaluation of TCM. Machine learning (ML) is the core wisdom of AI, and its progress in rapid analysis and higher accuracy improves the potential of applying HSI to the field of TCM. This article reviewed five aspects of ML applied to hyperspectral data analysis of TCM: partition of data set, data preprocessing, data dimension reduction, qualitative or quantitative models, and model performance measurement. The different algorithms proposed by researchers for quality assessment of TCM were also compared. Finally, the challenges in the analysis of hyperspectral images for TCM were summarized, and the future works were prospected. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The high damping alloy materials, by virtue of the excellent mechanical properties and damping performance generated by the material's properties and internal friction mechanism, can be employed directly in the reduction of structural vibrations. On the basis of summarising the current research progress and application status of existing damping alloy materials, the damping characteristics of Fe-12Cr-3Al ferromagnetic high damping alloy material were tested and applied to the vibration reduction of an aero-engine lubricating oil tank. Subsequent to this, vibration characteristics simulation analysis and tests were conducted. The results show that the amplitude reduction rate of mounting structures utilising the Fe-12Cr-3Al ferromagnetic high damping alloy is 30% in comparison to Q235 carbon steel. Additionally, the vibration transmission rate can be diminished by 40%. The utilisation of the Fe-12Cr-3Al ferromagnetic high damping alloy in the aero-engine mounting structure has been observed to result in a discernible reduction in vibration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulations often contain a complex mixture of compounds, making it challenging to evaluate their quality. Buzhong Yiqi Oral Liquid (BYOL), a well-known TCM formulation, has been used to treat gastrointestinal diseases and fatigue for a long time. However, the effective substances for its therapeutic effects remain unclear. This study aimed to establish a novel quality control approach for BYOL using a multidimensional feature network to identify quality markers (Q-markers). The multidimensional characteristic network was constructed by a "Spider-Web" model, including the compatibility of ingredients, traceability of compounds from raw materials to the final product, effectiveness, measurability, and stability. Multivariate statistical analysis was applied to quantify the individual dimensions of the feature network, and candidate compounds were identified based on regression regions within the network. Using the multidimensional characteristic network, 12 components were identified as key Q-markers for BYOL, consisting of calycosin-7-O-β-D-glucoside, formononetin, astragaloside IV, liquiritin, quercetin, hesperidin, glycyrrhizic acid, isorhamnetin, liquiritin apioside, hesperidin, luteolin, and nobiletin. Tundishes are refractory vessels that are used to control the flow of molten steel, promote the removal of inclusions, and increase the homogeneity of temperature and composition during continuous casting processes by optimizing their geometric shape. The flow of molten steel in tundishes is a high-temperature process, and the optimization of the tundish structure is carried out by numerical and physical simulations. In numerical simulations, the viscosity of molten steel is generally set to a constant value; however, in industrial scenarios, the molten steel viscosity is variable with temperature. In the present work, the effects of molten steel viscosity varying with temperature on fluid flow, inclusion motion, and temperature distribution in a tundish were investigated by numerical simulations based on the modification of the top heat flux of the tundish, and the results were further verified by an industrial experiment. The removal rate of inclusions obtained from the industrial experiment was 40.40%. In numerical simulations, the inclusion removal rates were 50.85% and 40.67% when the fluid viscosity was constant and variable, respectively. Hence, when the molten steel viscosity was variable, the numerical simulation result was closer to the experimental one. The industrial experiment revealed that the temperature difference between the edge flow and the middle flow on the tundish liquid surface was 0 K. In numerical simulations, when the top heat fluxes of the tundish were 15 000 and 100 W/m2, the temperature differences on the tundish liquid surface were 5.95 and 0.16 K, respectively. To improve the interfacial compatibility of core–shell composite abrasive composed of sulfate-modified divinylbenzene crosslinked polystyrene P(S-DVB)-SO4) and CeO2, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS), and polyethylene glycol (PEG) were introduced. Using molecular dynamics simulation method, the adsorption configurations, adsorption energies, relative concentration distribution and radial distribution function (RDF) of three surfactants on P(S-DVB)-SO4 and CeO2 surfaces were analyzed, and it was found that CTAB has the best interfacial compatibility. The changes in atomic structure, relative concentration distribution, and binding energy of P(S-DVB)-SO4/CeO2(100) interface after adding CTAB were studied. The P(S-DVB)-SO4/CeO2 abrasive was prepared by the soap-free lotion polymerization. The TEM, HRTEM, nitrogen adsorption–desorption (BET), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) nanoindentation tests were conducted, and the influences of CTAB on the interface structure and strength were further verified through experiment. Finally, the effect mechanism of surfactants on the compatibility of P(S-DVB)-SO4/CeO2 interface was obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
