Abstract

Hierarchical porous carbons (HPCs) with tailored pore structure were fabricated via direct carbonization of a precursor consisting of agar and acetates in an inert atmosphere. The agar served as the carbon source and curing agent, while potassium acetate and calcium acetate were used to create micropores and mesopores, respectively. The morphology and structural features of the HPCs were characterized, and the electrochemical properties were estimated in a three‐electrode system with 6 M KOH as the electrolyte. The resulting HPCs possess a developed pore structure and concentrated pore size distribution (focused at 0.4 and 4 nm), and exhibit typical electrical double‐layer capacitive behaviour. Specially, the HCP‐2 owns a large specific surface area of 1441.65 m2/g and excellent electrochemical properties, including a favourable specific capacitance (235 F/g at 1 A/g), good rate capability (capacitance retention rate of 88.1% at 20 A/g), and impressive long‐term cycling stability (90.6% retention of initial capacitance after 3000 cycles). Abstract

Different concentrations solutions of NaOH and NaCl were used to modify raw kaolin for improving its heavy metal capture performance. The best modified kaolin was formed by 0.19375 g NaOH modifying 10 g kaolin based on the evaluating index of capture efficiency with 4 % and 47 % increase for PbCl2 and CdCl2. This modified method can obtain a new adsorbent which has good capture effect on both PbCl2 and CdCl2 at the same time. Based on the evaluating index of the ratios of Pb/Al and Cd/Al, the best modified adsorbents on PbCl2 and CdCl2 were 10 g kaolin modified by 0.775 g NaOH and 10 g kaolin modified by 0.5675 g NaCl. The FTIR spectroscopy and specific surface areas of modified kaolin were measured. The adsorption products of modified kaolin were characterized by SEM, XRD. Leaching toxicity of adsorption products of modified kaolin was carried out and the modification mechanism was described. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

47. Removal Performance of Biomass Tar Utilizing Olivine Catalytic Decomposition and Oily Materials Absorption.

Abstract

Tar is one of the biggest bottlenecks hindering the development of biomass gasification. Herein, Ni−Fe/olivine catalysts prepared by thermal fusion (TF‐olivine) and wetness impregnation (WI‐olivine) are selected as the tar in situ cracking catalyst, and four oily materials (waste cooking oil [WCO], waste cooking oil‐based biodiesel [WCB], palm oil [PO], palm oil‐based biodiesel [PB]) are selected as subsequent tar absorbents. The results show that the tar efficiency increases with the increase in oil absorbent temperature. The absorption efficiency of PO and PB is higher than that of WCO and WCB. The absorption efficiency of tar can reach up to 92.96%. After adding TF‐olivine as the in situ catalyst, the removal efficiency of tar in the biomass catalytic decomposition oil absorbent purification system is further improved. In the fixed‐bed experimental device with a biomass feed rate of 30 g h−1, the tar removal rate reaches 99.96%. In the biomass‐circulating fluidized bed gasification device with a feed rate of 3.9 kg h−1, the tar content is reduced to 8.6 mg Nm−3, and the tar removal rate is up to 99.89%.
