Multi-channel EEG signals are commonly used for the diagnosis and assessment of diseases such as epilepsy. Currently, various EEG diagnostic algorithms based on deep learning have been developed. However, most research efforts focus solely on diagnosing and classifying current signal data but do not consider the prediction of future trends for early warning. Additionally, since multi-channel EEG can be essentially regarded as the spatio-temporal signal data received by detectors at different locations in the brain, how to construct spatio-temporal information representations of EEG signals to facilitate future trend prediction for multi-channel EEG becomes an important problem. This study proposes a multi-signal prediction algorithm based on generative diffusion models (EEG-DIF), which transforms the multi-signal forecasting task into an image completion task, allowing for comprehensive representation and learning of the spatio-temporal correlations and future developmental patterns of multi-channel EEG signals. Here, we employ a publicly available epilepsy EEG dataset to construct and validate the EEG-DIF. The results demonstrate that our method can accurately predict future trends for multi-channel EEG signals simultaneously. Furthermore, the early warning accuracy for epilepsy seizures based on the generated EEG data reaches 0.89. In general, EEG-DIF provides a novel approach for characterizing multi-channel EEG signals and an innovative early warning algorithm for epilepsy seizures, aiding in optimizing and enhancing the clinical diagnosis process. Camouflaged Object Segmentation (COS) faces significant challenges due to the scarcity of annotated data, where meticulous pixel-level annotation is both labor-intensive and costly, primarily due to the intricate object-background boundaries. Addressing the core question, "Can COS be effectively achieved in a zero-shot manner without manual annotations for any camouflaged object?" we affirmatively respond and introduce a robust zero-shot COS framework. This framework leverages the inherent local pattern bias of COS and employs a broad semantic feature space derived from salient object segmentation (SOS) for efficient zero-shot transfer. We incorporate an Masked Image Modeling (MIM) based image encoder optimized for Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT), a Multimodal Large Language Model (M-LLM), and a Multi-scale Fine-grained Alignment (MFA) mechanism. The MIM pre-trained image encoder focuses on capturing essential low-level features, while the M-LLM generates caption embeddings processed alongside these visual cues. These embeddings are precisely aligned using MFA, enabling our framework to accurately interpret and navigate complex semantic contexts. To optimize operational efficiency, we introduce a learnable codebook that represents the M-LLM during inference, significantly reducing computational overhead. Our framework demonstrates its versatility and efficacy through rigorous experimentation, achieving state-of-the-art performance in zero-shot COS with $F_{\beta}^w$ scores of 72.9\% on CAMO and 71.7\% on COD10K. Automatic medical report generation (MRG), which aims to produce detailed text reports from medical images, has emerged as a critical task in this domain. MRG systems can enhance radiological workflows by reducing the time and effort required for report writing, thereby improving diagnostic efficiency. In this work, we present a novel approach for automatic MRG utilizing a multimodal large language model. Specifically, we employed the 3D Vision Transformer (ViT3D) image encoder introduced from M3D-CLIP to process 3D scans and use the Asclepius-Llama3-8B as the language model to generate the text reports by auto-regressive decoding. The experiment shows our model achieved an average Green score of 0.3 on the MRG task validation set and an average accuracy of 0.61 on the visual question answering (VQA) task validation set, outperforming the baseline model. Our approach demonstrates the effectiveness of the ViT3D alignment of LLaMA3 for automatic MRG and VQA tasks by tuning the model on a small dataset.

Using gauge/gravity duality, we study the exotic hybrid pseudopotentials at finite temperature and chemical potential. The $\Sigma$ hybrid meson can be described by a model including an object called ``defect'' on a string linking the quark and antiquark. It was first proposed by Andreev and perfectly described the $\Sigma_u^-$ hybrid potential at zero temperature and chemical potential. In this paper, we would like to extend this model to finite chemical potential and compare the separate distance and pseudopotentials of $\Sigma_g^+ $ and $\Sigma_u^-$. Unlike $\Sigma_g^+$ ground state, the $\Sigma_u^-$ hybrid pseudopotentials no longer behave as Coulomb-like at short distances. In addition, temperature and chemical potential have a significant impact on the $\Sigma_u^-$ hybrid pseudopotentials. The screen distances and hybrid pseudopotentials of $\Sigma_u^-$ significantly decrease with the increase of temperature and chemical potential. At last, we draw the melting diagram of $\Sigma_g^+ $ and $\Sigma_u^-$ in the $T- \mu$ plane, and confirm that the quark-antiquark pair in $\Sigma_u^-$ excited state is easier to melt than in $\Sigma_g^+$ ground state.

Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a severe complication of diabetes, characterized by thickening of the central portion of the retina due to accumulation of fluid. DME is a significant and common cause of visual impairment in diabetic patients. Center-involved DME (ci-DME) is the highest risk form of disease as fluid extends close to the fovea which is responsible for sharp central vision. Earlier diagnosis or prediction of ci-DME may improve treatment outcomes. Here, we propose an ensemble method to predict ci-DME onset within a year using ultra-wide-field color fundus photography (UWF-CFP) images provided by the DIAMOND Challenge. We adopted a variety of baseline state-of-the-art classification networks including ResNet, DenseNet, EfficientNet, and VGG with the aim of enhancing model robustness. The best performing models were Densenet 121, Resnet 152 and EfficientNet b7, and these were assembled into a definitive predictive model. The final ensemble model demonstrates a strong performance with an Area Under Curve (AUC) of 0.7017, an F1 score of 0.6512, and an Expected Calibration Error (ECE) of 0.2057 when deployed on a synthetic dataset. The performance of this ensemble model is comparable to previous studies despite training and testing in a more realistic setting, indicating the potential of UWF-CFP combined with a deep learning classification system to facilitate earlier diagnosis, better treatment decisions, and improved prognostication in ci-DME.

Accurate and timely modeling of labor migration is crucial for various urban governance and commercial tasks, such as local policy-making and business site selection. However, existing studies on labor migration largely rely on limited survey data with statistical methods, which fail to deliver timely and fine-grained insights for time-varying regional trends. To this end, we propose a deep learning-based spatial-temporal labor migration analysis framework, DHG-SIL, by leveraging large-scale job query data. Specifically, we first acquire labor migration intention as a proxy of labor migration via job queries from one of the world's largest search engines. Then, a Disprepant Homophily co-preserved Graph Convolutional Network (DH-GCN) and an interpretable temporal module are respectively proposed to capture cross-city and sequential labor migration dependencies. Besides, we introduce four interpretable variables to quantify city migration properties, which are co-optimized with city representations via tailor-designed contrastive losses. Extensive experiments on three real-world datasets demonstrate the superiority of our DHG-SIL. Notably, DHG-SIL has been deployed as a core component of a cooperative partner's intelligent human resource system, and the system supported a series of city talent attraction reports.

Labor market forecasting on talent demand and supply is essential for business management and economic development. With accurate and timely forecasts, employers can adapt their recruitment strategies to align with the evolving labor market, and employees can have proactive career path planning according to future demand and supply. However, previous studies ignore the interconnection between demand-supply sequences among different companies and positions for predicting variations. Moreover, companies are reluctant to share their private human resource data for global labor market analysis due to concerns over jeopardizing competitive advantage, security threats, and potential ethical or legal violations. To this end, in this paper, we formulate the Federated Labor Market Forecasting (FedLMF) problem and propose a Meta-personalized Convergence-aware Clustered Federated Learning (MPCAC-FL) framework to provide accurate and timely collaborative talent demand and supply prediction in a privacy-preserving way. First, we design a graph-based sequential model to capture the inherent correlation between demand and supply sequences and company-position pairs. Second, we adopt meta-learning techniques to learn effective initial model parameters that can be shared across companies, allowing personalized models to be optimized for forecasting company-specific demand and supply, even when companies have heterogeneous data. Third, we devise a Convergence-aware Clustering algorithm to dynamically divide companies into groups according to model similarity and apply federated aggregation in each group. The heterogeneity can be alleviated for more stable convergence and better performance. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MPCAC-FL outperforms compared baselines on three real-world datasets and achieves over 97% of the state-of-the-art model, i.e., DH-GEM, without exposing private company data.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent form of cardiac arrhythmia and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The effectiveness of current clinical interventions for AF is often limited by an incomplete understanding of the atrial anatomical structures that sustain this arrhythmia. Late Gadolinium-Enhanced MRI (LGE-MRI) has emerged as a critical imaging modality for assessing atrial fibrosis and scarring, which are essential markers for predicting the success of ablation procedures in AF patients. The Multi-class Bi-Atrial Segmentation (MBAS) challenge at MICCAI 2024 aims to enhance the segmentation of both left and right atria and their walls using a comprehensive dataset of 200 multi-center 3D LGE-MRIs, labelled by experts. This work presents an ensemble approach that integrates multiple machine learning models, including Unet, ResNet, EfficientNet and VGG, to perform automatic bi-atrial segmentation from LGE-MRI data. The ensemble model was evaluated using the Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) and 95% Hausdorff distance (HD95) on the left & right atrium wall, right atrium cavity, and left atrium cavity. On the internal testing dataset, the model achieved a DSC of 88.41%, 98.48%, 98.45% and an HD95 of 1.07, 0.95, 0.64 respectively. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the ensemble model in improving segmentation accuracy. The approach contributes to advancing the understanding of AF and supports the development of more targeted and effective ablation strategies.

Accurately characterizing the true redshift (true-$z$) distribution of a photometric redshift (photo-$z$) sample is critical for cosmological analyses in imaging surveys. Clustering-based techniques, which include clustering-redshift (CZ) and self-calibration (SC) methods--depending on whether external spectroscopic data are used--offer powerful tools for this purpose. In this study, we explore the joint inference of the true-$z$ distribution by combining SC and CZ (denoted as SC+CZ). We derive simple multiplicative update rules to perform the joint inference. By incorporating appropriate error weighting and an additional weighting function, our method shows significant improvement over previous algorithms. We validate our approach using a DES Y3 mock catalog. The true-$z$ distribution estimated through the combined SC+CZ method is generally more accurate than using SC or CZ alone. To account for the different constraining powers of these methods, we assign distinct weights to the SC and CZ contributions. The optimal weights, which minimize the distribution error, depend on the relative constraining strength of the SC and CZ data. Specifically, for a spectroscopic redshift sample that represents 1% of the photo-$z$ sample, the optimal combination reduces the total error by 20% (40%) compared to using CZ (SC) alone, and it keeps the bias in mean redshift [$\Delta \bar{z} / (1 + z) $] at the level of 0.3%. Furthermore, when CZ data is only available in the low-$z$ range and the high-$z$ range relies solely on SC data, SC+CZ enables consistent estimation of the true-$z$ distribution across the entire redshift range. Ensemble learning is a meta-learning approach that combines the predictions of multiple learners, demonstrating improved accuracy and robustness. Nevertheless, ensembling models like Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) result in high memory and computing overhead, preventing their deployment in embedded systems. These devices are usually equipped with small batteries that provide power supply and might include energy-harvesting modules that extract energy from the environment. In this work, we propose E-QUARTIC, a novel Energy Efficient Edge Ensembling framework to build ensembles of CNNs targeting Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based embedded systems. Our design outperforms single-instance CNN baselines and state-of-the-art edge AI solutions, improving accuracy and adapting to varying energy conditions while maintaining similar memory requirements. Then, we leverage the multi-CNN structure of the designed ensemble to implement an energy-aware model selection policy in energy-harvesting AI systems. We show that our solution outperforms the state-of-the-art by reducing system failure rate by up to 40% while ensuring higher average output qualities. Thermography is especially valuable for the military and other users of surveillance cameras. Some recent methods based on Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) are proposed to reconstruct the thermal scenes in 3D from a set of thermal and RGB images. However, unlike NeRF, 3D Gaussian splatting (3DGS) prevails due to its rapid training and real-time rendering. In this work, we propose ThermalGaussian, the first thermal 3DGS approach capable of rendering high-quality images in RGB and thermal modalities. We first calibrate the RGB camera and the thermal camera to ensure that both modalities are accurately aligned. Subsequently, we use the registered images to learn the multimodal 3D Gaussians. To prevent the overfitting of any single modality, we introduce several multimodal regularization constraints. We also develop smoothing constraints tailored to the physical characteristics of the thermal modality. Besides, we contribute a real-world dataset named RGBT-Scenes, captured by a hand-hold thermal-infrared camera, facilitating future research on thermal scene reconstruction. We conduct comprehensive experiments to show that ThermalGaussian achieves photorealistic rendering of thermal images and improves the rendering quality of RGB images. In this study, we developed an Evidence-based Ensemble Neural Network, namely EVENet, for anatomical brain parcellation using diffusion MRI. The key innovation of EVENet is the design of an evidential deep learning framework to quantify predictive uncertainty at each voxel during a single inference. Using EVENet, we obtained accurate parcellation and uncertainty estimates across different datasets from healthy and clinical populations and with different imaging acquisitions. The overall network includes five parallel subnetworks, where each is dedicated to learning the FreeSurfer parcellation for a certain diffusion MRI parameter. An evidence-based ensemble methodology is then proposed to fuse the individual outputs. We perform experimental evaluations on large-scale datasets from multiple imaging sources, including high-quality diffusion MRI data from healthy adults and clinically diffusion MRI data from participants with various brain diseases (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, Parkinson's disease, cerebral small vessel disease, and neurosurgical patients with brain tumors). Compared to several state-of-the-art methods, our experimental results demonstrate highly improved parcellation accuracy across the multiple testing datasets despite the differences in dMRI acquisition protocols and health conditions. Perceiving the surrounding environment is a fundamental task in autonomous driving. To obtain highly accurate perception results, modern autonomous driving systems typically employ multi-modal sensors to collect comprehensive environmental data. Among these, the radar-camera multi-modal perception system is especially favored for its excellent sensing capabilities and cost-effectiveness. However, the substantial modality differences between radar and camera sensors pose challenges in fusing information. To address this problem, this paper presents RCBEVDet, a radar-camera fusion 3D object detection framework. Specifically, RCBEVDet is developed from an existing camera-based 3D object detector, supplemented by a specially designed radar feature extractor, RadarBEVNet, and a Cross-Attention Multi-layer Fusion (CAMF) module. Firstly, RadarBEVNet encodes sparse radar points into a dense bird's-eye-view (BEV) feature using a dual-stream radar backbone and a Radar Cross Section aware BEV encoder. Secondly, the CAMF module utilizes a deformable attention mechanism to align radar and camera BEV features and adopts channel and spatial fusion layers to fuse them. To further enhance RCBEVDet's capabilities, we introduce RCBEVDet++, which advances the CAMF through sparse fusion, supports query-based multi-view camera perception models, and adapts to a broader range of perception tasks. Extensive experiments on the nuScenes show that our method integrates seamlessly with existing camera-based 3D perception models and improves their performance across various perception tasks. Furthermore, our method achieves state-of-the-art radar-camera fusion results in 3D object detection, BEV semantic segmentation, and 3D multi-object tracking tasks. Recent advances in text-to-image diffusion models have demonstrated impressive capabilities in image quality. However, complex scene generation remains relatively unexplored, and even the definition of `complex scene' itself remains unclear. In this paper, we address this gap by providing a precise definition of complex scenes and introducing a set of Complex Decomposition Criteria (CDC) based on this definition. Inspired by the artists painting process, we propose a training-free diffusion framework called Complex Diffusion (CxD), which divides the process into three stages: composition, painting, and retouching. Our method leverages the powerful chain-of-thought capabilities of large language models (LLMs) to decompose complex prompts based on CDC and to manage composition and layout. We then develop an attention modulation method that guides simple prompts to specific regions to complete the complex scene painting. Finally, we inject the detailed output of the LLM into a retouching model to enhance the image details, thus implementing the retouching stage. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms previous SOTA approaches, significantly improving the generation of high-quality, semantically consistent, and visually diverse images for complex scenes, even with intricate prompts.

Fine-grained understanding of objects, attributes, and relationships between objects is crucial for visual-language models (VLMs). Existing benchmarks primarily focus on evaluating VLMs' capability to distinguish between two very similar \textit{captions} given an image. In this paper, we introduce a new, challenging benchmark termed \textbf{Vis}ual \textbf{Min}imal-Change Understanding (VisMin), which requires models to predict the correct image-caption match given two images and two captions. The image pair and caption pair contain minimal changes, i.e., only one aspect changes at a time from among the following: \textit{object}, \textit{attribute}, \textit{count}, and \textit{spatial relation}. These changes test the models' understanding of objects, attributes (such as color, material, shape), counts, and spatial relationships between objects. We built an automatic framework using large language models and diffusion models, followed by a rigorous 4-step verification process by human annotators. Empirical experiments reveal that current VLMs exhibit notable deficiencies in understanding spatial relationships and counting abilities. We also generate a large-scale training dataset to finetune CLIP and Idefics2, showing significant improvements in fine-grained understanding across benchmarks and in CLIP's general image-text alignment. Class incremental semantic segmentation aims to preserve old knowledge while learning new tasks, however, it is impeded by catastrophic forgetting and background shift issues. Prior works indicate the pivotal importance of initializing new classifiers and mainly focus on transferring knowledge from the background classifier or preparing classifiers for future classes, neglecting the flexibility and variance of new classifiers. In this paper, we propose a new classifier pre-tuning~(NeST) method applied before the formal training process, learning a transformation from old classifiers to generate new classifiers for initialization rather than directly tuning the parameters of new classifiers. Our method can make new classifiers align with the backbone and adapt to the new data, preventing drastic changes in the feature extractor when learning new classes. Besides, we design a strategy considering the cross-task class similarity to initialize matrices used in the transformation, helping achieve the stability-plasticity trade-off. Experiments on Pascal VOC 2012 and ADE20K datasets show that the proposed strategy can significantly improve the performance of previous methods. Multi-exit network is a promising architecture for efficient model inference by sharing backbone networks and weights among multiple exits. However, the gradient conflict of the shared weights results in sub-optimal accuracy. This paper introduces Deep Feature Surgery (\methodname), which consists of feature partitioning and feature referencing approaches to resolve gradient conflict issues during the training of multi-exit networks. The feature partitioning separates shared features along the depth axis among all exits to alleviate gradient conflict while simultaneously promoting joint optimization for each exit. Subsequently, feature referencing enhances multi-scale features for distinct exits across varying depths to improve the model accuracy. Furthermore, \methodname~reduces the training operations with the reduced complexity of backpropagation. Experimental results on Cifar100 and ImageNet datasets exhibit that \methodname~provides up to a \textbf{50.00\%} reduction in training time and attains up to a \textbf{6.94\%} enhancement in accuracy when contrasted with baseline methods across diverse models and tasks. Budgeted batch classification evaluation on MSDNet demonstrates that DFS uses about $\mathbf{2}\boldsymbol{\times}$ fewer average FLOPs per image to achieve the same classification accuracy as baseline methods on Cifar100. ATARI is a suite of video games used by reinforcement learning (RL) researchers to test the effectiveness of the learning algorithm. Receiving only the raw pixels and the game score, the agent learns to develop sophisticated strategies, even to the comparable level of a professional human games tester. Ideally, we also want an agent requiring very few interactions with the environment. Previous competitive model-free algorithms for the task use the valued-based Rainbow algorithm without any policy head. In this paper, we change it by proposing a practical discrete variant of the soft actor-critic (SAC) algorithm. The new variant enables off-policy learning using policy heads for discrete domains. By incorporating it into the advanced Rainbow variant, i.e., the ``bigger, better, faster'' (BBF), the resulting SAC-BBF improves the previous state-of-the-art interquartile mean (IQM) from 1.045 to 1.088, and it achieves these results using only replay ratio (RR) 2. By using lower RR 2, the training time of SAC-BBF is strictly one-third of the time required for BBF to achieve an IQM of 1.045 using RR 8. As a value of IQM greater than one indicates super-human performance, SAC-BBF is also the only model-free algorithm with a super-human level using only RR 2. Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. While deep learning approaches using fundus images have largely improved early diagnosis of glaucoma, variations in images from different devices and locations (known as domain shifts) challenge the use of pre-trained models in real-world settings. To address this, we propose a novel Graph-guided Test-Time Adaptation (GTTA) framework to generalize glaucoma diagnosis models to unseen test environments. GTTA integrates the topological information of fundus images into the model training, enhancing the model's transferability and reducing the risk of learning spurious correlation. During inference, GTTA introduces a novel test-time training objective to make the source-trained classifier progressively adapt to target patterns with reliable class conditional estimation and consistency regularization. This work aims to tackle the all-in-one image restoration task, which seeks to handle multiple types of degradation with a single model. The primary challenge is to extract degradation representations from the input degraded images and use them to guide the model's adaptation to specific degradation types. Recognizing that various degradations affect image content differently across frequency bands, we propose a new all-in-one image restoration approach from a frequency perspective, leveraging advanced vision transformers. Our method consists of two main components: a frequency-aware Degradation prior learning transformer (Dformer) and a degradation-adaptive Restoration transformer (Rformer). The Dformer captures the essential characteristics of various degradations by decomposing inputs into different frequency components. By understanding how degradations affect these frequency components, the Dformer learns robust priors that effectively guide the restoration process. The Rformer then employs a degradation-adaptive self-attention module to selectively focus on the most affected frequency components, guided by the learned degradation representations. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms the existing methods on four representative restoration tasks, including denoising, deraining, dehazing and deblurring. A Chern insulator hosts topologically protected chiral edge currents with quantized conductance characterized by its Chern number. Switching the chirality of the Chern insulator, namely, the direction of the edge current, is highly challenging due to topologically forbidden backscattering but is of considerable importance for the design of topological devices. Nevertheless, this can be achieved by reversing the sign of the Chern number through a topological phase transition. Here, we report electrically switchable chirality in rhombohedral heptalayer graphene-based Chern insulators. The surface flat band and giant Berry curvature in rhombohedral multilayer graphene provide a highly tunable platform for engineering the topological states. By introducing moire superlattices in rhombohedral heptalayer graphene, we observed a cascade of topological phase transitions at quarter electron filling of a moire band. The Chern number can be continuously tuned from 0, -1, 1 to 2 by electric fields, manifesting as a large anomalous Hall effect and following Streda's formula. Sign reversal and the anomalous Hall effect also occurred at non-integer fillings, suggesting the possibility of electrically tunable topological phase transitions within the regime of fractional Chern insulators. Graph-based models and contrastive learning have emerged as prominent methods in Collaborative Filtering (CF). While many existing models in CF incorporate these methods in their design, there seems to be a limited depth of analysis regarding the foundational principles behind them. This paper bridges graph convolution, a pivotal element of graph-based models, with contrastive learning through a theoretical framework. By examining the learning dynamics and equilibrium of the contrastive loss, we offer a fresh lens to understand contrastive learning via graph theory, emphasizing its capability to capture high-order connectivity. Building on this analysis, we further show that the graph convolutional layers often used in graph-based models are not essential for high-order connectivity modeling and might contribute to the risk of oversmoothing. Stemming from our findings, we introduce Simple Contrastive Collaborative Filtering (SCCF), a simple and effective algorithm based on a naive embedding model and a modified contrastive loss. This paper reviews the NTIRE 2024 low light image enhancement challenge, highlighting the proposed solutions and results. The aim of this challenge is to discover an effective network design or solution capable of generating brighter, clearer, and visually appealing results when dealing with a variety of conditions, including ultra-high resolution (4K and beyond), non-uniform illumination, backlighting, extreme darkness, and night scenes. A notable total of 428 participants registered for the challenge, with 22 teams ultimately making valid submissions. We propose a lightweight deep convolutional neural network (lCNN) to estimate cosmological parameters from simulated three-dimensional dark matter (DM) halo distributions and associated statistics. The training dataset comprises 2000 realizations of a cubic box with a side length of 1000 $h^{-1}{\rm Mpc}$, and interpolated over a cubic grid of $300^3$ voxels, with each simulation produced using $512^3$ DM particles and $512^3$ neutrinos. Under the flat $\Lambda$CDM model, simulations vary standard six cosmological parameters including $\Omega_m$, $\Omega_b$, $h$, $n_s$, $\sigma_8$, $w$, along with the neutrino mass sum, $M_\nu$. We find that: 1) within the framework of lCNN, extracting large-scale structure information is more efficient from the halo density field compared to relying on the statistical quantities including the power spectrum, the two-point correlation function, and the coefficients from wavelet scattering transform; 2) combining the halo density field with its Fourier transformed counterpart enhances predictions, while augmenting the training dataset with measured statistics further improves performance; 3) achieving high accuracy in inferring $\Omega_m$, $h$, and $\sigma_8$ by the neural network model, while being inefficient in predicting $\Omega_b$, { $n_s$}, $M_\nu$ and $w$; 4) { compared to the simple fully connected network trained with three statistical quantities, our CNN yields statistically reduced errors, showing improvements of approximately 23\% for $\Omega_m$, 11\% for $h$, 8\% for $n_s$, and 21\% for $\sigma_8$. Ferroelectricity is intriguing for its spontaneous electric polarization, which is switchable by an external electric field. Expanding ferroelectric materials to two-dimensional limit will provide versatile applications for the development of next-generation nonvolatile devices. Conventional ferroelectricity requires the materials consisting of at least two constituent elements associated with polar crystalline structures. Monolayer graphene as an elementary two-dimensional material unlikely exhibits ferroelectric order due to its highly centrosymmetric hexagonal lattices. Nevertheless, two-dimensional moire superlattices offer a powerful way to engineer diverse electronic orders in non-polar materials. Here, we report the observations of electronic ferroelectricity in monolayer graphene by introducing asymmetric moire superlattice at the graphene/h-BN interface. Utilizing Hall measurements, the electric polarization is identified to stem from electron-hole dipoles, suggesting the electronic dynamics of the observed ferroelectricity. Standard polarization-electric field hysteresis loops, as well as unconventional multiple switchable polarization states, have been achieved. By in-situ comparing with control devices, we found that the electronic ferroelectricity in graphene moire systems is independent of layer number of graphene and the corresponding fine band structures. Furthermore, we demonstrate the applications of this ferroelectric moire structures in multi-state non-volatile data storage and the emulation of versatile synaptic behaviors, including short-term plasticity, long-term potentiation and long-term depression. This work not only enriches the fundamental understanding of ferroelectricity, but also demonstrates the promising applications of graphene in multi-state memories and neuromorphic computing.

Three-dimensional object detection is one of the key tasks in autonomous driving. To reduce costs in practice, low-cost multi-view cameras for 3D object detection are proposed to replace the expansive LiDAR sensors. However, relying solely on cameras is difficult to achieve highly accurate and robust 3D object detection. An effective solution to this issue is combining multi-view cameras with the economical millimeter-wave radar sensor to achieve more reliable multi-modal 3D object detection. In this paper, we introduce RCBEVDet, a radar-camera fusion 3D object detection method in the bird's eye view (BEV). Specifically, we first design RadarBEVNet for radar BEV feature extraction. RadarBEVNet consists of a dual-stream radar backbone and a Radar Cross-Section (RCS) aware BEV encoder. In the dual-stream radar backbone, a point-based encoder and a transformer-based encoder are proposed to extract radar features, with an injection and extraction module to facilitate communication between the two encoders. The RCS-aware BEV encoder takes RCS as the object size prior to scattering the point feature in BEV. Besides, we present the Cross-Attention Multi-layer Fusion module to automatically align the multi-modal BEV feature from radar and camera with the deformable attention mechanism, and then fuse the feature with channel and spatial fusion layers. Experimental results show that RCBEVDet achieves new state-of-the-art radar-camera fusion results on nuScenes and view-of-delft (VoD) 3D object detection benchmarks. Furthermore, RCBEVDet achieves better 3D detection results than all real-time camera-only and radar-camera 3D object detectors with a faster inference speed at 21~28 FPS. The $\beta$-skeleton approach can be conveniently utilized to construct the cosmic web based on the spatial geometry distribution of galaxies, particularly in sparse samples. This method plays a key role in establishing the three-dimensional structure of the Universe and serves as a tool for quantitatively characterizing the nature of the cosmic web. This study is the first application of $\beta$-skeleton information as weights in mark weighted correlation functions (MCFs), presenting a novel statistical measure. We have applied the $\beta$-skeleton approach to the CMASS NGC galaxy samples from SDSS BOSS DR12 in the redshift interval $0.45 \leq z \leq 0.55$. Additionally, we applied this approach to three COLA cosmological simulations with different settings ($\Omega_m=0.25, \Omega_m=0.31, \Omega_m=0.4$) for comparison. We measured three MCFs, each weighted by i) the number of neighboring galaxies around each galaxy, ii) the average distance of each galaxy from its surrounding neighbors, and iii) the reciprocal of the average distance of each galaxy from its surrounding neighbors. Leveraging Transformer attention has led to great advancements in HDR deghosting. However, the intricate nature of self-attention introduces practical challenges, as existing state-of-the-art methods often demand high-end GPUs or exhibit slow inference speeds, especially for high-resolution images like 2K. Striking an optimal balance between performance and latency remains a critical concern. In response, this work presents PASTA, a novel Progressively Aggregated Spatio-Temporal Alignment framework for HDR deghosting. Our approach achieves effectiveness and efficiency by harnessing hierarchical representation during feature distanglement. Through the utilization of diverse granularities within the hierarchical structure, our method substantially boosts computational speed and optimizes the HDR imaging workflow. In addition, we explore within-scale feature modeling with local and global attention, gradually merging and refining them in a coarse-to-fine fashion. Experimental results showcase PASTA's superiority over current SOTA methods in both visual quality and performance metrics, accompanied by a substantial 3-fold (x3) increase in inference speed.

Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) have become pivotal in recommendation systems for learning user and item embeddings by leveraging the user-item interaction graph's node information and topology. However, these models often face the famous over-smoothing issue, leading to indistinct user and item embeddings and reduced personalization. Traditional desmoothing methods in GCN-based systems are model-specific, lacking a universal solution. This paper introduces a novel, model-agnostic approach named \textbf{D}esmoothing Framework for \textbf{G}CN-based \textbf{R}ecommendation Systems (\textbf{DGR}). It effectively addresses over-smoothing on general GCN-based recommendation models by considering both global and local perspectives. Specifically, we first introduce vector perturbations during each message passing layer to penalize the tendency of node embeddings approximating overly to be similar with the guidance of the global topological structure. Meanwhile, we further develop a tailored-design loss term for the readout embeddings to preserve the local collaborative relations between users and their neighboring items. In particular, items that exhibit a high correlation with neighboring items are also incorporated to enhance the local topological information. To validate our approach, we conduct extensive experiments on 5 benchmark datasets based on 5 well-known GCN-based recommendation models, demonstrating the effectiveness and generalization of our proposed framework.

Coupled tensor decomposition (CTD) can extract joint features from multimodal data in various applications. It can be employed for federated learning networks with data confidentiality. Federated CTD achieves data privacy protection by sharing common features and keeping individual features. However, traditional CTD schemes based on canonical polyadic decomposition (CPD) may suffer from low computational efficiency and heavy communication costs. Inspired by the efficient tensor train decomposition, we propose a coupled tensor train (CTT) decomposition for federated learning. The distributed coupled multi-way data are decomposed into a series of tensor trains with shared factors. In this way, we can extract common features of coupled modes while maintaining the different features of uncoupled modes. Thus the privacy preservation of information across different network nodes can be ensured. The proposed CTT approach is instantiated for two fundamental network structures, namely master-slave and decentralized networks. Experimental results on synthetic and real datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed schemes over existing methods in terms of both computational efficiency and communication rounds. In a classification task, experimental results show that the CTT-based federated learning achieves almost the same accuracy performance as that of the centralized counterpart.

This study presents a novel multimodal medical image zero-shot segmentation algorithm named the text-visual-prompt segment anything model (TV-SAM) without any manual annotations. The TV-SAM incorporates and integrates the large language model GPT-4, the vision language model GLIP, and the SAM to autonomously generate descriptive text prompts and visual bounding box prompts from medical images, thereby enhancing the SAM's capability for zero-shot segmentation. Comprehensive evaluations are implemented on seven public datasets encompassing eight imaging modalities to demonstrate that TV-SAM can effectively segment unseen targets across various modalities without additional training. TV-SAM significantly outperforms SAM AUTO and GSAM, closely matching the performance of SAM BBOX with gold standard bounding box prompts and surpasses the state-of-the-art methods on specific datasets such as ISIC and WBC. The study indicates that TV-SAM serves as an effective multimodal medical image zero-shot segmentation algorithm, highlighting the significant contribution of GPT-4 to zero-shot segmentation. We report the test results of several independent foreground-cleaning pipelines used in the Ali CMB Polarization Telescope experiment (AliCPT-1), a high-altitude CMB imager in the Northern hemisphere with thousands of detectors dedicated to the search for a primordial CMB polarization $B$-mode signature. Based on simulated data from 4 detector modules and a single season of observation, which we refer to as Data Challenge 1 (DC1), we employ different and independent pipelines to examine the robustness and effectiveness of the estimates on foreground parameters and the primordial $B$-mode detection. The foreground-cleaning strategies used in the pipelines include the parametric method of template fitting (TF) and the non-parametric methods of the constrained internal linear combination (cILC), the analytical blind separation (ABS), and the generalized least squares (GLS). We examine the impact of possible foreground residuals on the estimate of the CMB tensor-to-scalar ratio ($r$) for each pipeline by changing the contamination components in the simulated maps and varying the foreground models and sky patches for various tests. According to the DC1 data with the simulation input value $r_{\rm true}=0.023$, the foreground residual contamination levels in the TF/ABS/cILC/GLS pipelines are well within the corresponding statistical errors at the $2\sigma$ level. Furthermore, by utilizing the tension estimator, which helps identify significant residual foreground contamination in the detection of the primordial $B$-mode signal by quantifying the discrepancy between various $r$ measurements, we conclude that the presence of small foreground residuals does not lead to any significant inconsistency in the estimation of $r$., Comment: 38 pages, 22 figures; accepted for publication in ApJS

Large Language Models (LLMs) are foundational in language technologies, particularly in information retrieval (IR). Previous studies have utilized LLMs for query expansion, achieving notable improvements in IR. In this paper, we thoroughly explore the best practice of leveraging LLMs for query expansion. To this end, we introduce a training-free, straightforward yet effective framework called Multi-Text Generation Integration (\textsc{MuGI}). It leverages LLMs to generate multiple pseudo-references, integrating them with queries to enhance both sparse and dense retrievers. Our empirical findings reveal that: (1) Increasing the number of samples from LLMs benefits IR systems; (2) A balance between the query and pseudo-documents, and an effective integration strategy, is critical for high performance; (3) Contextual information from LLMs is essential, even boost a 23M model to outperform a 7B baseline model; (4) Pseudo relevance feedback can further calibrate queries for improved performance; and (5) Query expansion is widely applicable and versatile, consistently enhancing models ranging from 23M to 7B parameters. During the past few decades, cognitive diagnostics modeling has attracted increasing attention in computational education communities, which is capable of quantifying the learning status and knowledge mastery levels of students. Indeed, the recent advances in neural networks have greatly enhanced the performance of traditional cognitive diagnosis models through learning the deep representations of students and exercises. Nevertheless, existing approaches often suffer from the issue of overconfidence in predicting students' mastery levels, which is primarily caused by the unavoidable noise and sparsity in realistic student-exercise interaction data, severely hindering the educational application of diagnostic feedback. To address this, in this paper, we propose a novel Reliable Cognitive Diagnosis(ReliCD) framework, which can quantify the confidence of the diagnosis feedback and is flexible for different cognitive diagnostic functions. Specifically, we first propose a Bayesian method to explicitly estimate the state uncertainty of different knowledge concepts for students, which enables the confidence quantification of diagnostic feedback. In particular, to account for potential differences, we suggest modeling individual prior distributions for the latent variables of different ability concepts using a pre-trained model. Additionally, we introduce a logical hypothesis for ranking confidence levels. Along this line, we design a novel calibration loss to optimize the confidence parameters by modeling the process of student performance prediction. Finally, extensive experiments on four real-world datasets clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of our ReliCD framework.

Raw low light image enhancement (LLIE) has achieved much better performance than the sRGB domain enhancement methods due to the merits of raw data. However, the ambiguity between noisy to clean and raw to sRGB mappings may mislead the single-stage enhancement networks. The two-stage networks avoid ambiguity by decoupling the two mappings but usually have large computing complexity. To solve this problem, we propose a single-stage network empowered by Feature Domain Adaptation (FDA) to decouple the denoising and color mapping tasks in raw LLIE. The denoising encoder is supervised by the clean raw image, and then the denoised features are adapted for the color mapping task by an FDA module. We propose a Lineformer to serve as the FDA, which can well explore the global and local correlations with fewer line buffers (friendly to the line-based imaging process). During inference, the raw supervision branch is removed. In this way, our network combines the advantage of a two-stage enhancement process with the efficiency of single-stage inference. Experiments on four benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance with fewer computing costs (60% FLOPs of the two-stage method DNF).
