Heavy-ion beam irradiation (HIBI) is useful for generating new germplasm in plants and microorganisms due to its ability to induce high mutagenesis rate, broad mutagenesis spectrum, and excellent stability of mutants. However, due to the random mutagenesis and associated mutant breeding modalities, it is imperative to improve HIBI-based mutant breeding efficiency and quality. This review discusses and summarizes the findings of existing theoretical and technical studies and presents a set of tandem strategies to enable efficient and high-quality HIBI-based mutant breeding practices. These strategies: adjust the mutation-inducing techniques, regulate cellular response states, formulate high-throughput screening schemes, and apply the generated superior genetic elements to genetic engineering approaches, thereby, improving the implications and expanding the scope of HIBI-based mutant breeding. These strategies aim to improve the mutagenesis rate, screening efficiency, and utilization of positive mutations. Here, we propose a model based on the integration of these strategies that would leverage the advantages of HIBI while compensating for its present shortcomings. Owing to the unique advantages of HIBI in creating high-quality genetic resources, we believe this review will contribute toward improving HIBI-based breeding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Akaganeite and jarosite were detected in two mudstone drill samples from Vera Rubin ridge (VRR), Gale crater by Chemistry & Mineralogy X‐Ray Diffraction (CheMin). The co‐occurrence of these two minerals is quite rare in both terrestrial and Martian aqueous environments. In order to confine the chemical conditions of paragenetic akaganeite and jarosite, and provide insight into late‐stage diagenetic alterations at VRR, we synthesized akaganeite and jarosite with varying SO42− concentrations and initial pH levels. Synthetic samples were characterized using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy, X‐ray powder diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Our study reveals that akaganeite and jarosite exist in equilibrium in the solution with 0.011–0.028 M SO42− with respect to 0.6 M Cl− and an initial pH of 1.3–2.2. In combination with the CheMin detection results, the chemistry and pH values of the fluids at VRR can be further constrained. Considering the absence of goethite and the relative higher portion of akaganeite than jarosite in the drill samples, the pH values should be 1.4–2 and the S/Cl molar ratio should be within the range of 0.018–0.042. Based on our laboratory results, we hypothesize that the presence of akaganeite and jarosite at VRR represents an individual episode of acidic groundwater activity. During the late‐stage diagenetic process at VRR, upwelled acidic groundwater dissolved the local chlorides to form the Cl−‐dominated fluids. Subsequent evaporation further concentrated the acid saline fluids and therefore resulted in an extremely acidic environment (1.4 ≤ pH＜2 with S/Cl molar ratio of 0.018–0.042), which produced akaganeite and jarosite. Plain Language Summary: Akaganeite and jarosite have been detected in drill samples of Gale crater. But their co‐occurrence has only been found in two drill samples Stoer and Rock Hall at VRR. The formation conditions of akaganeite and jarosite at VRR remain unknown. To solve this issue, we conducted synthesis experiments under different SO42− concentrations and initial pH levels. We found that akaganeite and jarosite coprecipitate in the solution with 0.011–0.028 M SO42− with respect to 0.6 M Cl− and an initial pH of 1.3–2.2. In conjunction with the CheMin data and our experimental results, the chemistry and pH values of the fluids at VRR can be further constrained. The formation of akaganeite and jarosite at VRR likely occurred in a Cl−‐dominating and SO42−‐bearing solution (S/Cl molar ratio of 0.018–0.042) under extremely acidic conditions (pH range of 1.4–2). We hypothesize that the coprecipitation of akaganeite and jarosite represents an individual episode of acidic groundwater activity at VRR. The upwelling acidic groundwater possibly dissolved the local chlorides to form a Cl‐dominated fluid with trace amounts of SO42−. The lengthy production procedures of FeV alloy from vanadium slag (VS) presently may cause high production costs and hazardous leaching liquor waste containing toxic V5+ and Cr6+ ions. A two‐step direct reduction technology is considered a short and environmental‐friendly process to solve the aforementioned problems. Solar grade silicon cutting slurry waste (SoG‐Siw) containing Si and SiC is regarded as an effective reductant to achieve comprehensive resource utilization and control reductant cost. The element migration behaviors during the reduction process are clarified from phase transitions and microcosmic features. The results showed that 78.7 wt% of Fe and 38.6 wt% of Cr migrated from slag to the metal phase with a mass ratio of pretreated SoG‐Siw (Si‐SiCmixt) to VS (S/V) of 0.15 after soaking at 1823 K for 60 min. The content of V2O3 is enriched from 12.14 to 16.13 wt%. The mass ratio of V to Fe increased from 0.28 to 1.40, satisfying the composition goal of the production of FeV60 alloy (50–65 wt% V). With an increase of S/V to 0.20, 4.6 wt% of V migrated from slag to the metal phase, causing the loss of vanadium. The reduction path is FeO → Fe2TiO4 → (Mn, Fe)(V, Cr)2O4 → (V, Cr)2O3. The purpose of this paper was to find the main influence factors of sports bra evaluation by the subjective assessment of different styles commercial sports bra, and to summarize the design elements of sports bra for large size. 10 women in large size (>C80) were chosen to evaluate 9 different sports bras. The main influence factors were extracted by factor analysis and all the product samples were classified by Q-cluster analysis. The conclusions show that breast stability, wearing comfort and bust modelling are the three key factors for sports bra evaluation. And a classification-positioning model of sports bra products was established. The findings can provide theoretical basis and guidance for the research and design of sports bras both for academic and sports or underwear enterprises, and also provide reference value for women customers.
