An eight-week feeding trial was designed to estimate the effects of commensal Bacillus siamensis LF4-derived whole cell wall (CW), cell wall protein (CWP), lipoteichoic acid (LTA) and peptidoglycan (PGN) supplementation in a high soybean meal (SM) diet on the growth, immunity and liver health of spotted seabass (Lateolabrax maculatus). Fish continuously fed low SM (containing 16 % SM) and high SM (containing 40 % SM) diets were served as positive (LSM) and negative (HSM) control, respectively. Abstract Nuclear receptor subfamily 1, group D, member 1 (NR1D1, also known as REV-ERBα) belongs to the nuclear receptor (NR) family, and is a heme-binding component of the circadian clock that consolidates circadian oscillators. In addition to repressing the transcription of multiple clock genes associated with circadian rhythms, NR1D1 has a wide range of downstream target genes that are intimately involved in many physiopathological processes, including autophagy, immunity, inflammation, metabolism and aging in multiple organs. This review focuses on the pivotal role of NR1D1 as a key transcription factor in the gene regulatory network, with particular emphasis on the milestones of the latest discoveries of NR1D1 ligands. NR1D1 is considered as a promising drug target for treating diverse diseases and may contribute to research on innovative biomarkers and therapeutic targets for organ injury-related diseases. Further research on NR1D1 ligands in prospective human trials may pave the way for their clinical application in many organ injury-related disorders.

Aquaculture is a fast-emerging food-producing sector in which fishery production plays an imperative socio-economic role, providing ample resources and tremendous potential worldwide. However, aquatic animals are exposed to the deterioration of the ecological environment and infection outbreaks, which represent significant issues nowadays. One of the reasons for these threats is the excessive use of antibiotics and synthetic drugs that have harmful impacts on the aquatic atmosphere. It is not surprising that functional and nature-based feed ingredients such as probiotics, prebiotics, postbiotics, and synbiotics have been developed as natural alternatives to sustain a healthy microbial environment in aquaculture. These functional feed additives possess several beneficial characteristics, including gut microbiota modulation, immune response reinforcement, resistance to pathogenic organisms, improved growth performance, and enhanced feed utilization in aquatic animals. Nevertheless, their mechanisms in modulating the immune system and gut microbiota in aquatic animals are largely unclear. This review discusses basic and current research advancements to fill research gaps and promote effective and healthy aquaculture production.

As a typical brittle material, the tensile strength of concrete is much lower than its compressive strength. The main failure mode of concrete buildings under explosive and impact loading is spalling, so it is crucial to understand the dynamic tensile performance of concrete. This paper presents an experimental study on the dynamic tensile strength of steel-fiber-reinforced self-compacting concrete (SFRSCC). Specimens of two different self-compacting concrete (SCC) mixes (C40 and C60) and four different fiber volume fractions (0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2.0%) are fabricated. Dynamic tensile strengths of SFRSCC are obtained using a modified Hopkinson bar system. The relationships between the dynamic tensile strength of the corresponding SCC mix, the quasi-static compressive strength, and the fiber volume fraction are discussed. An empirical equation is proposed. It is shown that SFRSCC with high compressive strength has higher dynamic tensile strength than low-strength SFRSCC for the same fiber content, and the dynamic tensile strength of SFRSCC possesses an approximately linear relation with the fiber volume fraction. The mechanism underlying this fiber-reinforcement effect is investigated.

Aiming at problems such as high operating costs, the low utilization efficiency of renewable energy, and the increase in the peak-valley difference in user load caused by disordered charging of electric vehicles (EVs), the operation mode of “setting electricity by heat” or “setting heat by electricity” is adopted in the integrated energy system of intelligent residential areas on the distribution side. In this paper, a method is proposed to use multiple energy storage, demand response technology, and make EV orderly charge and discharge plan to consume renewable resources and realize optimal economic scheduling in the integrated energy system of combined heat and power (CHP). Firstly, the demand response model of electricity load adjusting according to renewable energy output and time-of-use electricity prices has been established. Secondly, considering the comfort of the space thermal load, the orderly charge and discharge plan of electric energy storage (ESS), thermal energy storage (HSS), and EV and aiming at the minimum operating cost of the integrated energy system, the optimal output operation of each equipment was scheduled. Finally, through simulation analysis and comparative experiments, it is verified that the proposed method can promote the local consumption of renewable energy, realize the decoupling of thermoelectric constraints, and reduce the operating cost of the integrated energy system.

Objective: This study aimed to meet the systematic demands of tea consumers and manufacturers for packaging design. Methods: Based on the research method of online comments, the Houyi collector is used to capture the evaluation data of tea packaging online shopping on the Jingdong platform, and 5 560 comments totaling 280 876 words are obtained. The comment text was pre-processed, and then the semantic analysis was constructed, including Chinese word segmentation and key extraction, including vocabulary, construction of core semantics and other steps. Based on grounded theory, text coding, open coding, main axis coding, selective coding were performed on the effective review text, so as to construct the theoretical model of tea packaging optimization design and carry out the theory saturation test. Results: Packaging characteristics, capacity, packaging material and quality are important factors in the process of tea packaging design. Conclusion: The core category elements of the theoretical model can be applied to the packaging design of white tea and wulong tea, which effectively meets the systemic needs of consumers and manufacturers, and has good application value.

The safe and comfortable operation of high-speed trains has attracted extensive attention. With the operation of the train, the performance of high-speed train bogie components inevitably degrades and eventually leads to failures. At present, it is a common method to achieve performance degradation estimation of bogie components by processing high-speed train vibration signals and analyzing the information contained in the signals. In the face of complex signals, the usage of information theory, such as information entropy, to achieve performance degradation estimations is not satisfactory, and recent studies have more often used deep learning methods instead of traditional methods, such as information theory or signal processing, to obtain higher estimation accuracy. However, current research is more focused on the estimation for a certain component of the bogie and does not consider the bogie as a whole system to accomplish the performance degradation estimation task for several key components at the same time. In this paper, based on soft parameter sharing multi-task deep learning, a multi-task and multi-scale convolutional neural network is proposed to realize performance degradation state estimations of key components of a high-speed train bogie. Firstly, the structure takes into account the multi-scale characteristics of high-speed train vibration signals and uses a multi-scale convolution structure to better extract the key features of the signal. Secondly, considering that the vibration signal of high-speed trains contains the information of all components, the soft parameter sharing method is adopted to realize feature sharing in the depth structure and improve the utilization of information. The effectiveness and superiority of the structure proposed by the experiment is a feasible scheme for improving the performance degradation estimation of a high-speed train bogie.

A complex and dynamic microbiota exists in the intestine of fish and plays vital roles in host growth and health. However, the interactions between host originated beneficial bacteria/probiotics with gut microbiota are still largely unknown. The aim of the study is to investigate the impact of two host-derived probiotics, Lactococcus petauri LF3 and Bacillus siamensis LF4, on the intestinal microbiota of juvenile Japanese seabass (Lateolabrax japonicus). Fish were fed the control diet (C), L. petauri LF3 (LF3) and B. siamensis LF4 (LF4) supplemented diets for 6 weeks, and the intestinal microbial composition and function were evaluated by using high-throughput sequencing technology. The relative abundances of certain phyla changed significantly in the probiotic-supplemented groups, Fusobacteria and Proteobacteria decreased, while Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes increased apparently in the groups LF3 and LF4. The apparently increased relative abundances of intestinal possible beneficial Christensenellaceae_R-7_group and Lactobacillus were observed in the groups LF3 and LF4, especially in the group LF4. Compared with the control group (C), Chao1, Ace and Shannon indices enhanced remarkably in groups LF3 and LF4. Intestinal microbiota was determined to have more similarity and lower individual differences based on beta diversity analysis including PCoA, NMDS and UPGMA clustering tree in groups LF3 and LF4 compared with the control group (C). Additionally, Firmicutes as a significant biomarker emerged in the groups LF3 and LF4 compared with the control. The intestinal microbial functions (amino acid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, energy metabolism, membrane transport, etc.) did not alter among all groups based on level-2 KEGG pathways. In summary, host- derived probiotic L. petauri LF3 and B. siamensis LF4 shape the intestinal microbial composition, but not function in juvenile Japanese seabass (L. japonicus).

Aquatic pathogens such as Vibrio parahaemolyticus cause a bacterial infection that reduces the economic benefits of aquaculture and affects the food quality and safety of human beings. Quorum quenching (QQ) is considered a novel strategy of microbial antagonism that inhibits pathogens and reduces the abuse of antibiotics. This study investigates a QQ bacterial strain, Bacillus velezensis DH82 from the deep sea Yap trench, in vitro to examine the effects of DH82 and its functional products against V. parahaemolyticus, focusing on the Quorum sensing (QS) regulation and the inhibition of pathogenicity and bacterial growth. The study also conducted in vivo investigation in the aquaculture of Litopenaeus vannamei challenged with V. parahaemolyticus by immersion and injection challenge. The results of the QS regulator transcription level demonstrated the multiple QQ enzymes in DH82 regulated the pathogenicity but could not fully control the biofilm formation; the effective antibacterial activity of extracellular peptides on microbial antagonism verified the inhibition on bacterial growth of V. parahaemolyticus. The in vivo experiment in aquaria demonstrated the effective enrichment of DH82 and inhibition of Vibrio in both the aquatic system and the shrimp intestine. The dietary DH82 relieved the negative effect of Vibrio on the activity of enzyme acid phosphatase (ACP), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), superoxide dismutase (SOD) under challenge of Vibrio pathogens, and was not harmful to host according to lysozyme (LZM) activity. DH82 also ameliorated the damage to the intestine and muscles induced by V. parahaemolyticus infection according to tissue imaging. Though DH82 did present some dose-dependent adverse effects to the host, the findings revealed the effective QQ and antibacterial activity of DH82 on emerging biocontrol against V. parahaemolyticus, therefore indicating the potential application of DH82 as a biological control reagent in the sustainable and green production of aquaculture.

High dose (0.3%) of dietary histamine can cause adverse effects on growth performance, innate immunity, and gut health in juvenile grouper (Epinephelus coioides). In the present study, three autochthonous probiotics (Bacillus pumilus SE5, Psychrobacter sp. SE6, and Bacillus clausii DE5) were supplemented separately to diets containing 0.3% of histamine and their effects on growth performance, innate immunity, and gut health of grouper (E. coioides) were evaluated in a 56-day feeding trial. The results showed considerable increase in weight gain, specific growth rate, hepatosomatic index, and decreased feed conversion rate in groupers fed with probiotic-supplemented diets. Supplementation of autochthonous probiotics has improved antioxidant capacity and innate immunity of E. coioides by measuring correlative parameters, such as total antioxidant capacity, superoxide dismutase activity, malondialdehyde content, and so on. Additionally, dietary probiotics have significantly reduced the levels of serum interleukin-1β (at days 28 and 56), fatty acid-binding protein 2, and intestinal trefoil factor (at day 28), and promoted intestinal integrity following remarkably increased muscle thickness and mucosal fold height at day 56, especially in grouper fed with B. pumilus SE5 containing diet (P < 0.05). On day 56, the gut microbial composition of E. coioides was positively shaped by autochthonous probiotics, the relative abundance of potentially pathogenic Photobacterium decreased while beneficial Lactobacillus increased in fish fed with probiotic strains, especially with B. pumilus SE5 and B. clausii DE5. These results suggest that among the three autochthonous probiotic strains tested, B. pumilus SE5 is showing better efficiency in alleviating the adverse effects of (high levels) dietary histamine by decreasing the expression of inflammatory markers and by improving the growth, innate immunity, and gut health of juvenile grouper E. coioides.
