La doped Bi2WO6 nanomaterials were synthesized by one step hydrothermal method using Bi(NO3)3·5H2O, Na2WO4·2H2O and La(NO3)3·6H2O as the raw materials. The phase composition and optical property of the as-prepared materials were systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and BET surface area. XRD result reveals that La is doped in Bi2WO6 successfully, and the prepared samples still possess orthorhombic structure. UV-Vis study shows the absorption edge of the prepared samples has a red-shift with the increase of La doping, indicating that La doping can broaden the absorbance range of the La doped Bi2WO6 materials. BET measurement shows that the specific surface area of La doped Bi2WO6 materials is increased with more La doping. In addition, the effect of La doping on the photocatalytic activities of the samples were measured by the degradation of methylene blue (MB). Results show that the best photocatalytic property is found in the 2.0% La doped Bi2WO6 nanomaterial; after 120min of reaction, the degradation rate of MB reaches 91%.

A body shape index (ABSI) has been proven to be related to a population's CVD incidence. However, the application of this indicator has produced different results. This study aimed to evaluate the applicability of the ABSI in predicting the incidence of CVD in rural Xinjiang, China, and compare it with waist circumference (WC), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), and body mass index (BMI). 5375 people aged 18 years or older were included in the study. We used the Cox proportional hazard model to evaluate the relationship between WC, WHR, WHtR, BMI, and ABSI and the incidence of CVD, the area under the curve (AUC) to evaluate the predictive power of each anthropometric index for the incidence of CVD, and restricted cubic splines are used to analyse the trend relationship between anthropometric indicators and the incidence of CVD. After multivariate adjustment, standardised WC, WHR, WHtR, BMI, and ABSI all positively correlated with the incidence of CVD. WC had the highest HR (95% CI) value, 1.64 (1.51–1.78), and AUC (95% CI) value, 0.7743 (0.7537–0.7949). ABSI had the lowest HR (95% CI) value, 1.21(1.10–1.32), and AUC (95% CI) value, 0.7419 (0.7208–0.7630). In the sex-specific sensitivity analysis, the predictive ability of traditional anthropometric indicators for the incidence of CVD is higher than that of ABSI. In the rural areas of Xinjiang, the traditional anthropometric indicators of WC had better ability to predict the incidence of CVD than ABSI. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ba5LaMgNb9O30 ceramics with the addition of Li3NbO4 sintered under nitrogen atmosphere were synthesized and characterized. The phase structure, microstructure, dielectric properties and impedance spectroscopy of the prepared ceramics were investigated. All samples showed a diffuse phase transition and the diffuse exponent γ was calculated. With the addition of Li3NbO4, Li+ could enter the C-sites of BLMN ceramics, which modified the composition of the tungsten bronze structure and improved the performance. Results show that addition of Li3NbO4 decreased the sintering temperature of BLMN ceramics to 1050 °C and improved dielectric properties of nitrogen-sintered BLMN ceramics. Impedance spectroscopy analysis indicated that the performance for nitrogen-sintered ceramics was comparable to air-sintered samples at the temperature below 400 °C. The dielectric properties of BLMN ceramics were influenced by the amount of Li3NbO4, and the 15 wt% Li3NbO4-added BLMN ceramic sintered at 1050 °C in nitrogen for 3 h showed good dielectric properties at 1 MHz of εr = 122.19, tanδ = 0.00686 and τε = −631 ppm/°C. In this study, 136 strains of endophytic fungi were isolated from the Chinese traditional medicinal plant Coptis chinensis Franch. Of these, 129 strains were classified into 12 different genera according to morphological traits and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) gene sequence analyses. Their antifungal activities were assessed against the following fungi: Magnaporthe oryzae, Pythium graminicola, Cylindrocarpon destructans, Fusarium oxysporum, Cercospora zeae-maydis, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Setosphaeria turcica and Botrytis cinerea. Fourteen endophytic strains were active against at least one of the selected fungi. The most active strain Cc-HG-7 identified as Cryptosporiopsis ericae displayed inhibition rates of 81.42% and 72.00%, respectively, against S. sclerotiorum and S. turcica in dual culture technique. The volatile antifungal compounds were identified using headspace solid-phase microextraction, followed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry to investigate the potential biocontrol mechanisms of strain Cc-HG-7. The results suggested that the strain Cc-HG-7 could be a potential agent for the biological control of S. sclerotiorum and S. turcica. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
