Purpose: QT interval prolongation is one of the most common electrocardiographic (ECG) abnormalities in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation is associated with perioperative cardiac events and dismal neurological outcome in mid to long-term follow-up in patients after aSAH is insufficiently studied and remains controversial. Methods: We retrospectively studied the adult (≥ 18 years) patients admitted to our institution between Jan 2018 and Dec 2020 for aSAH who underwent intracranial aneurysm clipping or embolization. The patients were divided into 2 groups (normal and QTc prolongation groups) according to their QTc. To minimize the confounding bias, a propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was performed to compare the neurologic outcomes between patients with normal QTc and QTc prolongation. Results: After screening, 908 patients were finally included. The patients were divided into 2 groups: normal QTc groups (n = 714) and long QTc group (n = 194). Female sex, hypokalemia, posterior circulation aneurysm, and higher Hunt-Hess grade were associated with QTc prolongation. In multiple regression analysis, older age, higher hemoglobin level, posterior circulation aneurysm, and higher Hunt-Hess grade were identified to be associated with worse outcome during 1-year follow-up. Before PSM, patients with QTc prolongation had higher rate of perioperative cardiac arrest or ventricular arrhythmias. After PSM, there was no statistical difference between normal and QTc prolongation groups in perioperative cardiac events. However, patients in the QTc prolongation group still had worse neurologic outcome during 1-year follow-up. Photothermal therapy operated in the second near-infrared (NIR-II, 1000–1700 nm) window and fluorescence imaging in the NIR-IIb (1500–1700 nm) region have become the most promising techniques in phototheranostics. Their combination enables simultaneous high-resolution optical imaging and deep-penetrating phototherapy, which is essential for high-performance phototheranostics. Herein, carboxyl-functionalized small organic photothermal molecules (Se-TC) and multi-layered NIR-IIb emissive rare-earth-doped nanoparticles (NaYF4:Yb,Er,Ce@NaYF4:Yb,Nd@NaYF4, RENP) were rationally designed and successfully synthesized. Then, high-performance hybrid phototheranostic nanoagents (Se-TC@RENP@F) were easily constructed through the coordination between Se-TC and RENP and followed by subsequent F127 encapsulation. The carboxyl groups of Se-TC can offer strong binding affinity towards rare-earth-doped nanoparticles, which help improving the stability of Se-TC@RENP@F. The multilayered structure of RENP largely enhance the NIR-IIb emission under 808 nm excitation. The obtained Se-TC@RENP@F exhibited high 1064 nm absorption (extinction coefficient: 24.7 L g−1 cm−1), large photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE, 36.9%), good NIR-IIb emission (peak: 1545 nm), as well as great photostability. Upon 1064 nm laser irradiation, high hyperthermia can be achieved to kill tumor cells efficiently. In addition, based on the excellent NIR-IIb emission of Se-TC@RENP@F, in vivo angiography and tumor detection can be realized. Lung cancer seriously threatens human health. To explore the molecular mechanism of 20(S)-Protopanaxadiol (PPD) on human non-small cell lung cancer cells, we investigated the transcriptional profile of PPD-treated NCI-H1299 cells. Cell proliferation, cell cycle, and apoptosis were detected using cell counting kit-8 and flow cytometry, respectively. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between PPD-treated and untreated cells were determined using RNA sequencing and bioinformatic analysis. Protein phosphorylation was detected using Western blotting. Data of mRNA expression profiles of lung cancer were from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and analyzed using R software version 4.3.1. PPD showed an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of NCI-H1299 cells and induced apoptosis. There were 938 upregulated genes and 466 downregulated genes in PPD-treated cells, and DEGs were primarily enriched in the MAPK signaling pathway. The detection of phosphorylation revealed that the phosphorylation of ERK and p38 MAPK was significantly reduced in PPD-treated cells. Further comparison of PPD-regulated DEGs with clinical data of lung adenocarcinoma demonstrated that most downregulated genes in tumor tissues were upregulated in PPD-treated cells or vice versa. Two PPD-downregulated genes HSPA2 and EFNA2 were associated with patients' overall survival. Craniofacial tissues comprise highly evolved organs characterized by a relative lack of expression in the HOX family transcription factors. In the present study, we sought to define the epigenetic events that limit HOX gene expression from undifferentiated neural crest cells to semi-differentiated odontogenic progenitors and to explore the effects of elevated levels of HOX. The ChIP-chip data demonstrated high levels of repressive H3K27me3 marks on the HOX gene promoters in ES and cranial neural crest cells when compared to the H3K4me3 marks, while the K4/K27 ratio was less repressive in the odontogenic progenitors, dental follicle, dental pulp, periodontal ligament fibroblasts, alveolar bone osteoblasts, and cementoblasts. The gene expression of multiple HOX genes, especially those from the HOXA and HOXB clusters, was significantly elevated and many times higher in alveolar bone cells than in the dental follicle cells. In addition, the HOX levels in the skeletal osteoblasts were many times higher in the trunk osteoblasts compared to the alveolar bone osteoblasts, and the repressive mark H3K27me3 promoter occupancy was substantially and significantly elevated in the alveolar bone osteoblasts when compared to the trunk osteoblasts. To explore the effect of elevated HOX levels in craniofacial neural crest cells, HOX expression was induced by transfecting cells with the Cdx4 transcription factor, resulting in a significant decrease in the mineralization markers, RUNX2, OSX, and OCN upon HOX elevation. Promoting HOX gene expression in developing teeth using the small molecule EZH2 inhibitor GSK126 resulted in an increased number of patterning events, supernumerary cusp formation, and increased Hoxa4 and Hoxb6 gene expression when compared to the controls. Together, these studies illustrate the profound effects of epigenetic regulatory events at all stages of the differentiation of craniofacial peripheral tissues from the neural crest, including lineage specification, tissue differentiation, and patterning. In lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs), sulfur-rich copolymers have attracted wide attention due to the reduced dissolution of active material and alleviated self-discharge problem through the efficient chemical interaction between polysulfide and carbon. Herein, we present an effective strategy to encapsulate sulfur-rich copolymer into NiCo 2 S 4 encapsulated hierarchical porous N/O dual-doped graphitic carbon nanocages (GCNs), named S-DIB@NiCo 2 S 4 @PDA@rGO-GCNs. The host NiCo 2 S 4 @PDA@rGO-GCNs matrix can not only provide the "lithiophilic"-rich polar sites and tight anchored LiPS n on the N/O dual-doped GCNs surface, and "sulfphilic" NiCo 2 S 4 electrocatalyst for accelerated sulfur electrochemistry, but also offer abundant hierarchical pores for accommodating sulfur and cushioning its volume expansion. Both of the experimental and theoretical analyses reveal the S-DIB@NiCo 2 S 4 @PDA@rGO-GCNs possesses the strong chemisorptions and catalytic ability with the synergetic mechanism, suppressing the self-discharge problem. As a proof-of-concept study, the assembled LSBs cells show excellent discharge capacities of 486 and 324 mA h g−1 at 5C and 10C after 1000 cycles, respectively. The corresponding capacity loss rate is as low as 0.032 % and 0.030 % per cycle, respectively. Thanks to the exceptional lithiophilic and sulfiphilic characteristic, the LSBs pouch cell also demonstrates high cycling stability. In the steelmaking process, real-time prediction of the occurrence of defects is crucial. To this end, a novel Gaussian–Poisson Mixture Regression (GPMR) model is proposed in this work. GPMR utilizes Poisson and Gaussian distributions to describe input process measurements and the count-type output quality variable, respectively. At the same time, inspired by the idea of finite mixture models, the two distributions are further extended into a mixture form to improve the predictive performance of the model, which also fully considers the characteristics of multi-mode and process variation in the steelmaking process. In addition, a parameter learning strategy based on variational inference is designed for the training of GPMR. Quinone-based redox active polymers are regarded as the most suitable cathode materials for constructing high-energy aqueous zinc-ion battery (AZIB) because of adjustable structure, high capacity and excellent electrochemical reversibility. However, their Zn2+ storage performances are often limited by low electronic conductivity and sluggish ion diffusion of Zn2+. Herein, a novel inorganic–organic nanocomposite of multiwalled carbon nanotube@poly(quinone-thiourea) (MWCNT@PQTU) was successfully fabricated by the method of in-situ interfacial polymerization, wherein 1,4-quinone and thiourea were used as low cost polymer precursors and MWCNT as a conductive support. The π-π stacking interaction between poly(quinone-thiourea) (PQTU) and MWCNT drove the self-assembly of the polymer around MWCNT during the polymerization process, ensuring the formation of the core–sheath nanostructure with ultrathin PQTU layers (10–30 nm in thickness). The unique nanostructure of MWCNT@PQTUs could enhance electronic conductivity, increase active carbonyl (C O) groups for charge storage, promote the Zn2+ diffusion, buffer the volume variation and inhibit the dissolution of the PQTU polymer during the charge − discharge processes. Thanks to these effects, the MWCNT@PQTU cathode exhibited high discharge capacity (120.6 mAh g−1 at 100 mA g−1), excellent rate capability (64.1 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1) and long cycling stability (81 % capacity retention after 2000 cycles at 500 mA g−1). This work demonstrated that the fabrication of core–sheath nanostructured CNT@polymer cathodes was an effective way to improve the charge storage performance of the quinone-based polymers for Zn-ion batteries. Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with severe disease had a high mortality rate. It's imperative to identify risk factors associated with disease progression and prognosis. Immune responses played an important role in the host's defense against the virus. We studied the dynamics of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) in relation to the clinical outcome in COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU). Design: This cohort included 342 COVID-19 patients who were admitted to ICU between February 1 and May 30, 2020, with 178 having follow-up PBL analysis. The patients were divided into a group that survived and an expired group. PBL analysis was performed by flow cytometry. Results: At time of initial flow analysis, there were no statistically significant differences in lymphocyte, T-cell and subsets, B-cell or natural killer (NK) cell counts between the 2 groups. However, during the ICU course, the surviving group demonstrated a full recovery of CD3+ T-cells, CD4+ T-cells, and CD8+ T-cells, with no significant change in B-cells, and a slight upward trend in NK-cells. In contrast, the expired group showed no recovery in T-cells (and subsets) and no significant changes in B-cells and NK-cells. We identified the earliest time points and cut-off values for T-cell subsets that predict clinical outcomes. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that evaluation of PBL in COVID-19 patients could be valuable in the study of the immune responses to the disease and the prognostication of outcome. The real-world datasets often exhibit imbalanced class distribution, which is a common challenge for multi-class classification algorithms. To settle the multi-class imbalanced classification problem of class imbalance learning, a novel reinforced knowledge distillation method is proposed in this paper. In the reinforced knowledge distillation, an improved fine-grained classification architecture based on knowledge distillation strategy and policy gradient reinforcement learning is proposed. In addition, reinforced knowledge distillation uses a newly designed reward signal and a novel sample weights update strategy to train the policies to find the optimal student-network, which makes reinforced knowledge distillation more powerful in handling the multi-class imbalanced classification problem. The effectiveness and practicability of the proposed reinforced knowledge distillation method are verified through its application to a simulated industrial process benchmark and extensive real-world datasets. Jiangxi Province is one of the first ecological civilization pilot zones (ECPZ) in China. The assessment of eco-environment quality (EQ) assessment and its future trends are of great significance to the maintenance of ecological security in Jiangxi Province and the construction of other pilot zones in China. Here, we propose an extended remote sensing ecological index (ERSEI), and then analyze its spatiotemporal distribution features and trends; we combine this with the optimal parameters-based geographical detector (OPGD) model to quantify the influencing factors, and further explore the future trends and prospects of the ERSEI. Our results show that: (1) Compared with the remote sensing ecological index (RSEI), the ERSEI can more effectively reflect regional differences in EQ. (2) Areas with an excellent ERSEI are mainly located in the important ecological barrier areas of Jiangxi Province, whereas areas with poor or worst ERSEI values correspond to the spatial distribution of the Nanchang metropolitan circle, town clusters, and urban development axes. (3) The ERSEI in Jiangxi Province improved in 72.50% of the study area from 2001 to 2021. (4) Slope, population density, and elevation are the key factors affecting the ERSEI, with the interaction between slope and population density explaining 79.9% of the variance in the ERSEI spatial distribution. (5) The areas predicted to see future rises and falls in the ERSEI in Jiangxi Province at 56.55 × 103 and 96.24 × 103 km2, respectively. These research results can provide support for Jiangxi Province to achieve sustainable development and ecological civilization construction, while also providing an ERSEI that effectively identifies regional differences and acts as a new reference to further EQ research. • An eco-environmental quality index can effectively identify regional differences. • The OPGD was used to quantify the single-factor detection and interaction detection. • The eco-environmental quality is mainly affected by the degree of human development. • Most sustainable areas are mainly distributed in the eastern and southern of Jiangxi. Coking industry is an important volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emission source in China, however, detailed information on VOCs emissions is lacking. Therefore, we selected a typical mechanized coking plant and collected air samples according to the Emission Standard of Pollutants for Coking Chemical Industry (GB16171-2012). Using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method, we analyzed the VOCs in the air samples, and applied maximum increment reactivity (MIR) rule to estimate ozone formation potential (OFP) of the VOCs emitted from the coke production. More than 90 VOCs species were detected from the coking plant, including alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons and oxygenated VOCs. The concentrations of VOCs (ρ(VOCs)) generated at different stages of the coking process are significantly different. ρ(VOCs) from coke oven chimney had the highest concentration (87.1 mg/m3), followed by coke pushing (4.0 mg/m3), coal charging (3.3 mg/m3) and coke oven tops (1.1 mg/m3). VOCs species emitted from the coke production processes were dominated by alkanes and alkenes, but the composition proportions were different at the different stages. Alkenes were the most abundant emission species in flue gases of the coke oven chimney accounting for up to 66% of the total VOCs, while the VOCs emissions from coke pushing and coal charging were dominated by alkanes (36% and 42%, respectively), and the alkanes and alkenes emitted from coke oven top were similar (31% and 29%, respectively). Based on above results, reduction of VOCs emissions from coke oven chimney flue gases is suggested to be an effective measure, especially for alkenes. Background. Multiple myeloma is overall the 14th most common malignancy but is rarely seen in those younger than 35 years. Those in the younger age group have been shown to have a more aggressive course but reportedly have had similar responses to treatment compared to older cohorts. Extramedullary plasmacytomas are discrete soft tissue masses of neoplastic monoclonal plasma cells that often occur in patients with multiple myeloma. Case. This case entails a young female with new diagnosis of multiple myeloma and multiple extramedullary plasmacytomas presenting with neurological symptoms. She was treated with CyBorD regimen but was refractory and progressed. Treatment was changed to DCEP regimen, and daratumumab was added for primary refractory myeloma. The patient improved rapidly. Conclusion. This is a unique case of multiple myeloma in a young female that had failed first-line treatment but responded to targeted therapy of daratumumab. It highlights that multiple myeloma may present atypically in young patients. More research is needed on appropriate initial diagnosis and treatment of patients in this age group. A novel conjugated polymer (DCT) with intrinsic multifunction was designed and synthesized. High-effect phototheranostic nanoagents DCT NPs were further fabricated based on single-component DCT, which displayed large Stokes shift (363 nm), satisfying near-infrared II (NIR-II) fluorescence emission, good photothermal and photodynamic performances. Under illumination of a single 808 nm laser, high therapeutic efficiency of DCT NPs was confirmed by MTT, live-dead staining and flow cytometry assays. Besides, in vivo high quality NIR-II imaging based on DCT NPs was also demonstrated. Overall, this study provides an effective strategy for constructing of high-effect single-component phototheranostic nanoagents. A novel 3D microspherical Ag 2 CO 3 /BiOI/BiOCl heterojunction photocatalyst was successfully prepared via a one-pot coprecipitation method. The pore characteristics, morphologies and optical properties of the composite photocatalysts were characterized in detail by means of XRD, FTIR, SEM, TEM, UV–Vis DRS, N 2 adsorption-desorption, XPS, ESR and PL. The effects of the CO 3 2−/Bi3+ molar ratio, pH value, fluorescent lamp irradiation, SO 2 , NO and scavengers on the wet removal of gaseous Hg0 by the composites were studied through a series of experiments. The results showed that more than 98% of Hg0 from simulated flue gas was removed by the optimized 3% Ag 2 CO 3 –BiOI/BiOCl system within 60 min. The photocatalyst had good acid, alkali and NO resistance, but SO 2 significantly inhibited it. The specific surface area of the Ag 2 CO 3 /BiOI/BiOCl photocatalyst was much higher than that of a single component, which was 6.80 and 1.56 times that of Ag 2 CO 3 and BiOI/BiOCl, respectively. For 3% Ag 2 CO 3 –BiOI/BiOCl, the Hg0 removal efficiency remained at approximately 94% in the sixth cycle. Density functional theory (DFT) revealed that the formation of heterojunctions could enhance the electron transition and efficient separation of photoinduced electron-hole pairs. Furthermore, the free radical capture experiment showed that anionic superoxide radical (•O 2 −) was the main active substance for the removal of Hg0. A reasonable dual-S-scheme charge transfer mechanism for an enhanced photocatalytic removal of Hg0 is proposed. Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells of classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL) are of B-cell origin. In a small number of CHL cases, the tumor cells can express T-cell antigens. CD8 expression in this setting is extremely rare. We identified 5 cases of CHL with aberrant CD8 expression from our database. The patients included 3 men and 2 women with a median age of 33 years (range = 20-59 years). All the patients initially presented with lymphadenopathy and variable number of RS cells. Two cases were classified as mixed cellularity type that showed prominent vascular proliferation mimicking peripheral T-cell lymphoma. Two cases represented nodular sclerosis type. The tumor cells in all cases were positive for CD8 and negative for CD2, CD3, CD4, and CD7 and carried germline T-cell receptor genes. Molecular studies revealed T-cell receptor genes to be in germline configuration in 4 cases with available information. Given the morphologic overlap with peripheral T-cell lymphoma and the rarity of this type of CHL, identifying more cases will help our better understanding of this entity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High-aspect-ratio (HAR) micro-electroforming is a significantly challengeable implementation to manufacture metallic microstructures and microparts mainly due to mass transportation limitation effect. In this paper, flow pattern and flow rate change characteristics within HAR micro-cavity during electroforming under magnetic field are investigated, and evaluations of the electroformed micro-sized HAR nickel features under the improved magnetohydrodynamic (MHD)-governed condition are carried out. It was found that, five electrolyte flow-pattern zones can be formed within the horizontally placed micro-cavity under the MHD condition and favorable mass transfer effects can be created when the current field applied is perpendicular to the gravity field; HAR (≥ 7) nickel microstructure with good surface quality and few plating defects can be produced at a relatively high current density (up to 11 A/dm2) under the combined actions of MHD-driven convection and external forced-convection; MHD-assisted nickel micro-electroforms have a higher microhardness, better surface morphologies and fewer defects than the ones obtained without the superimposition of the magnetic field. This paper presents global research trends involving highly cited articles on ecosystem services from 1981 to 2017 based on a bibliometric analysis of such articles from the SCI-E and SSCI databases of the Web of Science. The analysis revealed that there were 132 highly cited articles, most of which were published between 2005 and 2014. Based on author keywords, the term ecosystem services was strongly linked to biodiversity. The top three journals in terms of total number of highly cited articles published were Ecological Economics, PNAS, and Ecological Indicators. Despite ranking sixth overall, Science ranked first in both impact factor and total citations per article. The US, UK, Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden were the top five most productive and cooperative countries in the world based on total number of highly cited articles and co-authorship network, respectively. The US was highly connected to Canada, the Netherlands, China and the UK. Stockholm University and Stanford University were the most productive institutions in Europe and North America, respectively. Stanford University is associated with many scholars in the field of ecosystem services research because of the InVEST model. Robert Costanza was the most prolific and highly cited author, the latter being largely due to the first valuation of the world’s ecosystem services and natural capital, he and his co-authors published in 1997 in Nature. Terrestrial, urban, and forest ecosystems were the top types of ecosystems assessed. Regulating and provisioning services were the major ecosystem services studied. Quantitative and qualitative assessments were the main research focus. Most of these highly cited studies on ecosystem services are done on areas geographically located in North America and Europe. Abstract In steel industry, it is crucial to predict hot metal temperature (HMT), which is strongly related to the product quality and the thermal state, to keep high productivity of the blast furnace. The present work proposes a novel ensemble pattern trees model to predict HMT. Ensemble pattern trees is a robust nonlinear modeling method, which aggregates a set of pattern trees models into a single predictive model via the bagging technique. Ensemble pattern trees overcomes the drawback of single pattern trees which may not be robust enough against the random variations such as process perturbations and noises in the blast furnace. In addition, a novel variable importance measure derived from the ensemble pattern trees is proposed to understand which process variables affect the final hot metal quality. Abstract Taking the 3-3-1 models (with S U (3) c ⊗ S U (3) L ⊗ U (1) Y gauge group) as examples, we study that a class of new physics models with extended gauge group could undergo one or several first-order phase transitions associated with the spontaneously symmetry breaking processes during the evolution of the universe, which can produce detectable phase transition gravitational wave (GW) signals at future GW experiments, such as LISA, BBO, DECIGO, SKA and aLIGO. Abstract In semiconductor industry, the etching process is a highly sophisticated nonlinear process, which significantly affects the wafer quality. Fault detection technique has been investigated as a promising tool to reduce the fault wafers and increase overall equipment effectiveness. However, traditional fault detection models are not adequate enough to describe the etching process due to the high complexity and non-linearity of wafer processing process. In this study, a novel fault detection technique called multiway principal polynomial analysis (MPPA) is proposed. MPPA is a nonlinear modeling technique which learns a low-dimensional representation from process data based on a sequence of principal polynomials. Compared to linear methods, MPPA is more flexible and efficient in tackling process nonlinearity. Furthermore, MPPA has the desirable properties of invertibility, volume-preservation, and straightforward out-of-sample extension, thus making it interpretable and easier to implement in real application. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed MPPA, it was applied to a nonlinear numerical example and the real-world operation data of a semiconductor manufacturing process. The application results demonstrated that the proposed MPPA method outperforms the conventional MPCA, FD-kNN, and PC-kNN in the fault detection performance. Two Ce 3+ doped sodium strontium (calcium) silicates, Na 2 SrSi 2 O 6 :Ce 3+ and Na 2 CaSi 2 O 6 :Ce 3+ , were prepared by high temperature solid state reaction. They both crystallize in trigonal crystal system with space group R 3 ¯ m. Substitution of three independent Ca 2+ sites for Ce 3+ ions yields blue emission when excited by UV light (λ e x  = 352 nm). Accordingly, Ce 3+ ions occupying two distinct Sr 2+ sites generate UV to blue light under 300-nm UV excitation. A series of Na 2 Ca 1- x Sr x Si 2 O 6 :Ce 3+ ( x  = 0–1) were prepared. All the samples form solid solutions and are isotypic confirmed by Rietveld refinements. Increasing Sr 2+ content leads to asymmetrical blue shift of PL spectra. Refinement results clarify preferable site occupancy of Sr 2+ in Na 2 CaSi 2 O 6 compound which results in the irregular shift. The migration of Ce 3+ ions between M3 and M4 sites is the key point of this phenomenon. This mechanism could be a guideline to optimize the emissions of emitting centers with multiple sites. Independent component regression (ICR) is an efficient method for tackling non-Gaussian problems. In this work, the defects of the conventional ICR are analyzed, and a novel quality-relevant independent component regression (QR-ICR) method based on distance covariance and distance correlation is proposed. QR-ICR extracts independent components (ICs) using a quality-relevant independent component analysis (QR-ICA) algorithm, which simultaneously maximizes the non-Gaussianity of ICs and statistical dependency between ICs and quality variables. Meanwhile, two new types of statistical criteria, called cumulative percent relevance (CPR) and Max-Dependency (Max-Dep), are proposed to rank the order and determine the number of ICs according to their contributions to quality variables. The proposed QR-ICR (CPR) and QR-ICR (Max-Dep) methods were validated through a vinyl acetate monomer production process and a benchmark near-infrared spectral data. Ce 3+ , Tb 3+ co-doped T-phase orthosilicate Ba 1.2 Ca 0.8 SiO 4 phosphors were prepared by means of solid state reactions. The synthesized samples were investigated using XRD and PL emission and excitation spectra. The emission spectra for Ce 3+ doped Ba 1.2 Ca 0.8 SiO 4 phosphors show broad bands in the 320–550 nm spectral region. The excitation spectra exhibit several absorption peaks in the range of 250–400 nm. Both the emission and excitation spectra are dependent on the excitation or monitoring wavelengths. We attribute these results to Ce 3+ ions occupying two different crystallographic sites (i.e., Ce I and Ce II). The Ce 3+ , Tb 3+ co-doped Ba 1.2 Ca 0.8 SiO 4 phosphors show Tb 3+ -related line emissions in the 475–600 nm spectral region and Ce 3+ -related band emissions in the 350–525 nm spectral region when the 4 f → 5d transition of Ce 3+ is excited (λ ex  = 345 nm), indicating that energy transfer from Ce 3+ to Tb 3+ takes place. Moreover, the emission intensity of 5 D 4 → 7 F 5 transition for Ba 1.00 Ce 0.02 Tb 0.08 Li 0.10 Ca 0.8 SiO 4 is 30 times stronger than that of Ba 1.04 Tb 0.08 Li 0.08 Ca 0.8 SiO 4 sample under 345-nm UV excitation. A series of K 2 MgSi 3 O 8 : x Ce 3+ ( x = 0.01–0.09), K 2 MgSi 3 O 8 :0.05Ce 3+ , y Tb 3+ ( y = 0–0.09) phosphors was prepared by solid-state method. X-ray diffraction was used to determine the crystal phase. Luminescence properties were characterized by photoluminescence (PL), photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra at room temperature. K 2 MgSi 3 O 8 : x Ce 3+ series emits blue light when excited by UV-light (λ ex = 350 nm). Nonequivalent substitution of K + for Ce 3+ leads to the multiple Ce 3+ centers in the compound. K 2 MgSi 3 O 8 :Ce 3+ , Tb 3+ exhibits broad band emission of Ce 3+ and the characteristic line emission of Tb 3+ . The luminescence color could be tuned from blue (0.16, 0.10) to greenish blue (0.19, 0.26) by varying Tb 3+ content. The energy transfer has been confirmed to occur via quadrupole-quadrupole interaction. The Eu 2+ , Ce 3+ , Tb 3+ and Ce 3+ -Tb 3+ doped ternary metal diphosphate K 2 Ba 3 (P 2 O 7 ) 2 is prepared using high temperature solid state synthesis. K 2 Ba 3 (P 2 O 7 ) 2 :Eu 2+ shows a deep blue emission ( λ max = 405 nm) when it is excited by UV lights. The broad peak at 405 nm can be decomposed to two Gaussian curves with maxima at 405 and 440 nm which can be attributed to the presence of two crystallographically different Eu 2+ sites in the crystal structure. The emission spectrum of K 2 Ba 3 (P 2 O 7 ) 2 :Ce 3+ is dependent of the excitation wavelength that also results from the two crystallographically different Ce 3+ sites. The emission spectrum of K 2 Ba 3 (P 2 O 7 ) 2 :Tb 3+ shows the 5 D 3 and 5 D 4 emission lines. The f-d spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions in Tb 3+ in K 2 Ba 3 (P 2 O 7 ) 2 are at about 225 and 250 nm, respectively. The unusual photoluminescence (PL) properties and temperature dependent decay behavior of Eu 2+ in KBaBP 2 O 8 are reported and discussed. The emission spectrum is so complicate that it can be deconvoluted into three fitting peaks. The emission bands peaking at 380 and 444 nm can be assigned to the 4f 6 5d 1 →4f 7 transition of Eu 2+ centers substituting for K + and Ba 2+ site, while the emission band at 497 nm may be attributed to the Eu 2+ center on K + site with a nearby charge-compensated vacancy. The decay time of the 4f 6 5d emission increases with temperature. Virtual sensing technology is crucial for monitoring product quality when real-time measurement is not available. To deal with both strong nonlinearity and time-varying dynamics of industrial processes, we propose a novel locally weighted kernel PLS (LW-KPLS) based on sparse nonlinear features in this research. Unlike the conventional locally weighted PLS (LW-PLS), the proposed method weights the training samples by using sparse kernel feature characterization factors (SKFCFs), which take account of the strength of nonlinear dependency between samples in the Hilbert feature space. By integrating the nonlinear features into the locally weighted regression framework, LW-KPLS not only can cope with the time-varying characteristics but also is more suitable for highly nonlinear processes. The proposed method was validated through a numerical example, a penicillin fermentation process, and a real industrial cleaning process for residual drug substances. Soft-sensors are effective tools for predicting quality variables in many industries. In this work, a novel data-driven soft-sensor called stacked supervised Poisson autoencoders (SSPAE) is proposed to predict the number of defects in the steelmaking process. SSPAE is a deep learning-based soft-sensing model designed by integrating Poisson regression network layers into the deep autoencoders framework. In SSPAE, quality-related deep features can be progressively learned from data through the deep network architectures. During the feature extraction process, SSPAE takes the quality information into account, so that the extracted deep features are conducive to improving the accuracy of the prediction model. Additionally, due to the introduction of the Poisson regression network, SSPAE is more suitable for predicting the count-type quality variables. The proposed method is evaluated through a numerical example and real-world industrial data. The luminescence properties of Eu 2+ in AgCa 10 (PO 4 ) 7 has been studied at room and low temperature and the decay times of Eu 2+ in this matrix have been measured and analyzed. Owing to rapid economic and industrial development, China has been suffering from degraded air quality and visibility. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are important precursors to the formation of ground-level ozone and hence photochemical smog. Some VOCs adversely affect human health. Therefore, VOCs have recently elicited public concern and given new impetus to scientific interest. China is now implementing a series of polices to control VOCs pollution. The key to formulating policy is understanding the ambient VOCs pollution status. This paper mainly analyzes the species, levels, sources, and spatial distributions of VOCs in ambient air. The results show that the concentrations of ambient VOCs in China are much higher than those of developed countries such as the United States and Japan, especial benzene, which exceeds available standards. At the same time, the ozone formation potential (OFP) and secondary organic aerosol formation potential (SOAFP) of various VOCs are calculated. Aromatics and alkenes have much higher OFPs, while aromatics have higher SOAFP. The OFPs of ambient VOCs in the cities of Beijing, Guangzhou and Changchun are very high, and the SOAFP of ambient VOCs in the cities of Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Changchun are higher. The long-tailed data distribution problem (i.e., a few classes account for majority data, while most classes account for minority data) is widespread in large-scale and real-world datasets, and it poses a huge challenge to the computer vision field. Existing methods of long-tailed classification mainly focus on re-sampling, re-weighting, and transfer learning. Although class imbalance learning can yield better long-tailed classification performance, the feature representative ability of the feature extraction network is damaged to a certain extent. To deal with these issues, the present work proposes a novel cumulative dual-branch network framework (CDBNF), which takes into account the class imbalance learning and feature representation learning at the same time by the dual-branch network architecture. In CDBNF, the class imbalance learning branch greatly improves the classification performance of tail classes, while the few-shot learning branch enhances the feature representative ability. Furthermore, a cumulative learning strategy (CLS) is proposed in CDBNF to make it pay more attention to the tail classes gradually in the training process. The effectiveness and practicability of the proposed CDBNF are verified by the four benchmark datasets. Experimental results show that the classification performance of CDBNF is superior to other state-of-the-art methods, while the intra-class feature variance is smaller than other state-of-the-art methods. Eu 2+ –activated Ba 1.3 Ca 0.7 SiO 4 phosphor has been synthesized by high temperature solid state reaction method. The optical properties of (Ba 1.29 Eu 0.01 )Ca 0.7 SiO 4 are investigated using photoluminescence (PL), photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra and luminescence decay time measurement between 10 and 523 K. The blue emission band peaking at ∼448 nm is observed to be asymmetric. It can be divided into three Gaussian bands with maxima at ∼440 (Eu I), ∼464 (Eu II) and ∼503 nm (Eu III), which is in good agreement with that measured from low temperature at 10 K. The temperature dependence of the PL intensity is also measured. The thermal quenching of Ba 1.3 Ca 0.7 SiO 4 :Eu 2+ is about 235 °C. The PL decay times of 425, 455 and 570 nm emission at 10 K are 0.23, 0.28 and 1.00 μs. They can be attributed to the lifetimes of Eu I, Eu II and Eu III site, respectively. The decay times of the 425 and 455 nm emission almost remain constant at 10 K and 523 K. The decay times of the emission at 570 nm do not change a lot with increasing temperature up to 300 K, then decrease to 0.2 μs at 523 K Ba 1.3 Ca 0.7 SiO 4 :Eu 2+ is a candidate blue-emitting phosphor for white LEDs. One-step microwave-assisted synthetic route for the fabrication of Mn 3 O 4 nanoparticles@reduced graphene oxide (Mn 3 O 4 @rGO) nanocomposites has been demonstrated. The morphological structures of the nanocomposites are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. All of the results indicate that the microwave-assisted synthesis results in the growth of Mn 3 O 4 and the reduction of graphene oxide simultaneously in ethylene glycol-water system. The specific capacitance of the as-prepared Mn 3 O 4 @rGO nanocomposite is higher than those of rGO and pure Mn 3 O 4 , which indicates the synergetic interaction between rGO and Mn 3 O 4 . The nanocomposites also have good rate capability and cycling stability in electrochemical experiments. For permanent-magnet linear motors (PMLMs), high-temperature rise can deteriorate their electromagnetic performance and limit their thrust output. A water-cooling system can be employed to reduce the temperature rise and to improve the thrust density. In order to study the thermal performance of a water-cooled, 14-pole, and 12-slot PMLM, a finite-element model and thermal network model are developed. Under continuous duty, the temperature distribution of this PMLM is investigated based on the two developed models, which are validated by experimental results. The effect of the water-cooling system and the impact of its parameters on the temperature rise are investigated. Then, the influence of the temperature rise on the motor thrust force and efficiency is studied. Finally, based on the finite-element model, thermal characteristics of this PMLM under short-time duty and intermittent duty are studied, and the relationship is obtained between the operation duration and the maximum allowed short-time current, as well as the impact of load sustained rate. This article reports on the optical properties of Sm3+-activated GdB3O6phosphors based on the measurement of their photoluminescence spectra and luminescence decay curves. Energy transfer from Gd3+to Sm3+and the concentration quenching of the Sm3+ion emission are investigated. From the photoluminescence spectra and decay curves, the energy transfer from Gd3+to Sm3+is confirmed. The concentration quenching of the Sm3+ion emission can be ascribed to resonant cross-relaxation. The interaction between the Sm3+ions is derived of the electric dipole–dipole type through fitting the data with the Inokuti-Hirayama model. The critical distances and energy transfer microparameter for the transfer processes are given. Abstract: In the semiconductor industry, traditional multivariate statistical process monitoring methods and pattern classification based detection methods have been developed to detect the semiconductor process faults. However, they do not show superior performance due to the limits of these methods and the unique characteristics of semiconductor processes such as non-linearity and multimodal batch trajectories. This paper presents a novel diffusion maps based k-nearest-neighbor rule (DM-kNN) technique that can reduce data-storage costs and enhance the performance of fault detection by integrating diffusion maps analysis with k-nearest-neighbor rule. DM-kNN takes full advantage of the dimensionality reduction and information preserving properties of DM to extract the low dimensional manifold feature that optimally preserves the intrinsic nonlinear structure of the data set. Then the adapted kNN rule based fault detection method is applied to the low dimensional manifold feature space to detect potential faults. The effectiveness and robustness of DM for dimensionality reduction and feature extraction are verified in simulation experiments compared with other linear and nonlinear dimensionality reduction methods. In addition, DM-kNN is applied to monitor the semiconductor manufacturing process. Abstract: Sn2+- and Sn2+/Mn2+-doped α-Sr2P2O7 phosphors have been synthesized by using the traditional solid-state reaction. The photoluminescence of Sn2+ and Sn2+/Mn2+ in α-Sr2P2O7 are reported and discussed. The Sn2+-activated material exhibits a blue-emitting band peaking at about 450nm under UV excitation. The Mn2+ emission peaking at about 565nm of Sn2+/Mn2+ co-doped samples can be enhanced through energy transfer from Sn2+ to Mn2+. Abstract: In this paper, we report the synthesis and photoluminescence (PL) properties of β′-Gd2Mo3O12 doped with Eu3+ ions. The relationship between Eu3+ luminescence versus concentration and temperature is discussed. In order to investigate the mechanism of concentration quenching, luminescence decay curves are measured and the Inokuti–Hirayama model is used to analyze them. The activation energy for the thermal quenching is estimated by the Arrhenius fitting. The emission spectrum of β′-Gd2Mo3O12 exhibits the strongest emission peak at 614.5nm due to electric–dipole transition. The excitation spectrum shows several sets of lines in the range of 350–425nm which are associated with the typical intra-configurational 4f6 transitions of Eu3+. The spectral positions of these lines match well with the emission spectra of near-UV LEDs, which makes the phosphor find a potential application for white light-emitting-diodes. Abstract: Novel Eu3+ doped zirconate garnet-type ceramics, Li7(La3−x Eu x )Zr2O12 with x=0, 0.001–1.0, have been synthesized by solid state reaction and the purity phase of the samples was checked by XRD. Room temperature steady and time-resolved emission spectra, under UV and visible light excitation energy, have been investigated. The concentration effect on the quenching blue emission, due to the Zr–O charge transfer transition and 5D0→7F2 emission transition of Eu3+ were studied in detail. The results indicate that there exists efficient energy transfer from host to Eu3+. The mechanism of interaction between Eu3+ ions has also been investigated by means of the Inokuti–Hirayama model. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectrum and luminescence decay kinetics confirm that the doped Eu2+ ions can occupy two different Ba2+ sites. The PL excitation spectrum shows a broad band matching well with the emission of near-UV chip. Ba3P4O13:Eu2+ is a promising phosphor for near-UV chip excited white LEDs. Scheelite-type Eu3+-activated molybdates [(Sr1−2 xEu xLi x)MoO4 and Sr0.40Eu0.40MoO4)] were prepared by the high temperature solid state reaction. The phosphors can be efficiently excited by near-UV light to realize an intense red luminescence corresponding to the electric dipole transition of Eu3+ ions. The external quantum efficiency of (Sr0.2Eu0.4Li0.4)MoO4 sample under 395-nm excitation is 0.73. According to the PL spectra, these phosphors could be candidate red-emitting materials for solid-state lighting if they are combined with green and blue efficiency phosphors and suitable near-UV InGaN chip.
