Abstract

Back-streaming neutrons from the spallation target of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) that emit through the incoming proton channel were exploited to build a white neutron beam facility (the so-called Back-n white neutron source), which was completed in March 2018. The Back-n neutron beam is very intense, at approximately 2*10^7 n/cm^2/s at 55 m from the target, and has a nominal proton beam with a power of 100 kW in the CSNS-I phase and a kinetic energy of 1.6 GeV and a thick tungsten target in multiple slices with modest moderation from the cooling water through the slices. In addition, the excellent energy spectrum spanning from 0.5 eV to 200 MeV, and a good time resolution related to the time-of-flight measurements make it a typical white neutron source for nuclear data measurements; its overall performance is among that of the best white neutron sources in the world. Equipped with advanced spectrometers, detectors, and application utilities, the Back-n facility can serve wide applications, with a focus on neutron-induced cross-section measurements. Abstract

To understand the self‐priming characteristics of a self‐priming pump, a closed‐loop piping system that includes the self‐priming pump, valve, tank, and piping system is established. The acceleration–constant speed operation processes of the impeller are controlled through a user‐defined function that ensures that the computational model and startup conditions are consistent with the real situation. Based on numerical calculations of the self‐priming process with two different self‐priming heights, the gas–liquid distributions during the self‐priming startup process are obtained. The results show that the self‐priming startup process can be divided into three stages: rapid inhalation, oscillating exhaust, and accelerated exhaust. Under the two self‐priming heights, the time required for the rapid inhalation and accelerated exhaust stages is basically the same. Thus, the difference in self‐priming time is mainly concentrated in the oscillating exhaust stage. The rate at which the liquid level rises in the vertical pipe is not proportional to the self‐priming height, and the difference in the self‐priming time is not proportional to the change in the self‐priming height. 23. Effects of side deep placement of controlled release nitrogen management on rice yield, NH3, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to establish controlled-release nitrogen fertilization technology for achieving high yield and reduce carbon emissions. Two late-maturing medium japonica rice varieties, Nanjing 9108 and Taixiangjing 1402, were selected in this study. The controlled-release fertilizer with resin-coated urea (N 43%, the longevity was 100 d) and common urea (46% N) were used as nitrogen fertilizers. Different ratios of basal and panicle nitrogen fertilizers were set for different treatments of 10 : 0 (NM1), 8 : 2 (NM2), 7 : 3 (NM3), and 6 : 4 (NM4). The basal fertilizer was applied using the side-deep fertilization method, with a ratio of 5:5 for resin-coated urea and common urea. The panicle nitrogen fertilizer was common urea. Conventional fertilization (FFT) and no nitrogen fertilizer (0N) control treatments were also included. The effect of different nitrogen fertilizer application methods on rice yield, NH3 volatilization, and greenhouse gas emissions were investigated. The results showed that the side-deep application of controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer delayed the peak of NH3 volatilization, preventing it from occurring at tillering stage compared to the FFT treatment. In addition, the flux of NH3 volatilization and the average flux after topdressing were significantly reduced by the side-deep application of controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer. The NH3 emission accumulation, NH3 emission factor, and NH3 emission intensity were reduced by 25.33%-48.76%, 29.14%-60.81%, and 29.60%-56.01%, respectively. Furthermore, the CH4 emission fluxes were significantly reduced at tillering stage and after heading stage. The N2O emission fluxes were also significantly reduced during the shelving and heading period. The CH4 and N2O emission accumulation were reduced by 20.20%-55.04% and 25.56%-61.56%, respectively. The CH4 emission reduction rate decreased as the proportion of basal and panicle fertilizer decreased. The N2O emission reduction rate followed the order of NM1 > NM3 > NM2 > NM4. The GWP and GHGI were reduced by 20.96%-53.35% and 25.91%-55.40%, respectively. Considering the economic and ecological benefits, NM1 treatment had the best effect on the reduction of NH3 volatilization and greenhouse gas emissions. NM1 treatment reduced the number of fertilization times 1-2 compared with the NM3 and FFT treatments, which was advantageous for achieving green, simple, and large-scale rice production. NM3 treatment exhibited the highest increase in yield, and its impact on reducing NH3 volatilization and greenhouse gas emissions was second only to NM1 treatment. In summary, the present study explored a set of controlled-release nitrogen fertilization method (NM1 and NM3 focused on "light and simple + emission reduction" and "high yield + emission reduction", respectively) suitable for reducing emission and increasing yield of late-maturing medium japonica rice. Abstract

With the rapid development of China's social economy and the rise of agricultural industrialization, the problem of agricultural non-point source pollution is becoming increasingly prominent. Reducing nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients in agricultural runoff is the key to control agricultural non-point source pollution, and it is also a hot research topic at home and abroad. The traditional methods to remove nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients in agricultural runoff mainly include ecological ditch, ecological buffer zone, and constructed wetland, etc. At present, ecological ditch, ecological buffer zone and constructed wetland are widely used in the treatment of agricultural runoff, while Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) technology and biofilm-electrode reactor (BER) have gained wide attention in recent years, it is the key technology of agricultural runoff treatment and has been widely recognized in the world. The purpose of this text is to explore the mechanism and technology of nutrient removal from farmland wastewater by in-situ biological treatment.

In order to verify the safety and reliability of the mobile pump truck, this paper takes the frame of a certain type of mobile pump truck as the research object. Through the establishment of a finite element model, four kinds of materials including Q345 and other types of steel are used to define the body parts, the four typical motion situations of the mobile pump truck are analyzed statically, and the maximum stress and deformation of the mobile pump truck under four working conditions are obtained. The results show that the stress and deformation generated by the mobile pump truck under full load bending, emergency turning, and emergency braking conditions are relatively small; while they generate significant stress and deformation under torsional conditions, they all meet the strength design requirements. Among them, the maximum stress and maximum displacement under the full load bending condition are 71.76 MPa and 2.11 mm; the maximum stress and maximum displacement under the full load torsion condition are 352.68 MPa and 18.18 mm; the maximum stress and maximum displacement under emergency turning conditions are 79.718 MPa and 2.68 mm; and the maximum stress and maximum displacement under emergency braking conditions are 74.907 MPa and 2.81 mm.
