Gravitational collapse and bubble evolution in the asymptotical Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) Universe is an intriguing and intricate problem. We systematically analyze dynamics for contact \sch-FLRW (McVittie) spacetimes, focusing on their general junction conditions and introducing a novel function to simplify the extrinsic curvature and surface stress-energy tensor. We explore both static and dynamic scenarios, including special cases such as Schwarzschild, FLRW, and Einstein-Straus configurations by using our general framework. Numerical calculations further reveal the evolution of the concentric McVittie spacetimes with various initial conditions, offering deep insights into the interplay between the McVittie mass parameter and initial peculiar velocity. These results provide a unified perspective for understanding gravitational collapse and bubble evolution in cosmology and astrophysics.

We propose the concept of mutual information for particle pair (MIPP) in curved spacetime, and find that MIPP is a proper chaos indicator. We tested this method in the Kerr spacetime and compared it with the fast Lyapunov indicator. The results show that the MIPP effectively identify orbital states and demonstrates prominent performance in recognizing transitions between orbital states. Vision Language Models (VLMs), pre-trained on large-scale image-text datasets, enable zero-shot predictions for unseen data but may underperform on specific unseen tasks. Continual learning (CL) can help VLMs effectively adapt to new data distributions without joint training, but faces challenges of catastrophic forgetting and generalization forgetting. Although significant progress has been achieved by distillation-based methods, they exhibit two severe limitations. One is the popularly adopted single-teacher paradigm fails to impart comprehensive knowledge, The other is the existing methods inadequately leverage the multimodal information in the original training dataset, instead they rely on additional data for distillation, which increases computational and storage overhead. To mitigate both limitations, by drawing on Knowledge Integration Theory (KIT), we propose a Multi-Stage Knowledge Integration network (MulKI) to emulate the human learning process in distillation methods. MulKI achieves this through four stages, including Eliciting Ideas, Adding New Ideas, Distinguishing Ideas, and Making Connections. During the four stages, we first leverage prototypes to align across modalities, eliciting cross-modal knowledge, then adding new knowledge by constructing fine-grained intra- and inter-modality relationships with prototypes. After that, knowledge from two teacher models is adaptively distinguished and re-weighted. Finally, we connect between models from intra- and inter-task, integrating preceding and new knowledge. Our method demonstrates significant improvements in maintaining zero-shot capabilities while supporting continual learning across diverse downstream tasks, showcasing its potential in adapting VLMs to evolving data distributions.

Scaling laws for critical phenomena take pivotal status in almost all branches of physics. However, as scaling laws are commonly guaranteed by the renormalization group theory, systems that violate them have rarely been found. In this letter, we demonstrate that gravitational system can break scaling laws. We derive this result through investigating phase transition and critical phenomenon in a gravitational system with quantum anomaly. For the first time, we outline the key conditions to violate the scaling laws in generic gravitational system viewed from the equation of state $P=P(T,V)$. We find a novel characteristic for chaotic motion by introducing Shannon entropy for periodic orbits, quasiperiodic orbits, and chaotic orbits.We compare our approach with the previous methods including Poincar\'{e} Section, Lyapunov exponent, Fast Lyapunov Indicator, Recurrence plots(Rps), and Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) for orbits around black hole immersed in magnetic fields, and show that they agree with each other quite well. The approach of Shannon entropy is intuitively clear, and theoretically reasonable since it becomes larger and larger form a periodic orbit to chaotic orbit. We demonstrate that Shannon entropy can be a powerful probe to distinguish between chaotic and regular orbits in different spacetimes, and reversely may lead to a new road to define the entropy for a single orbit in phase space, and to find more fundamental relations between thermodynamics and dynamics., Comment: 22 pages, 6 figures

We obtain the first image of a parity-odd celestial body. Recently, an intriguing parity-odd rotating boson star has been proposed, and we investigate the lensing effects of these stars in detail. Our analysis demonstrates distinct gravitational distortions around these stars, clearly differentiating them from their parity-even counterparts. Binary stars are as frequency as single stars in the Universe, and at least 70% of the massive stars located in our Galaxy belong to a binary system. We produce the gravitational waveforms for the extreme mass ratio inspiral systems (EMRIs) of binary stars moving around central supermassive black hole (SBH), or called B-EMRIs. We calculate the orbits of such systems via the Hamilton-Jacobi approach. To improve accuracy we adopt the quadrupole-octupole expression of gravitational wave (GW) and study the contribution of radiation reaction. Compared to the waveforms of EMRIs, there are higher frequency oscillations superposed on the waveforms of B-EMRIs. We perform frequency spectrum analysis of the GW waveforms, and find that higher frequency signals give their prominency in the waveforms of B-EMRIs. We study the binary compact objects with different masses and inclination angles of the binary internal orbit plane, and obtain the frequency spectrum variation with respect to the parameters. To obtain more precise result for future observation of GWs from space-based detector, we take into account gravito-electromagnetic (GEM) force for the binary orbit on the equatorial plane, and compare the waveforms with that of EMRIs without GEM force. The result of mismatch shows that the waveforms of B-EMRIs are credibly distinguishable by the space-based GW detectors when GEM force is considered., Comment: 20 pages, 11 figures

We study the energy issue in critical collapse of a spherically symmetric scalar field. It is found that in critical collapse, the contribution from the material energy is greater than that from the gravitational energy. The quantity $m/r$ plays an important role in identifying the formation of apparent horizon in gravitational collapse, where $m$ is the Misner-Sharp mass and $r$ the areal radius. We observe that in critical collapse, the maximum value of $m/r$ fluctuates between $2/15$ and $4/15$. This denotes a large gap between critical collapse and black hole formation for which the criterion is $m/r=1/2$., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures

For the first time, we use the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) data to constrain the parameters of braneworld black holes which constrain $\epsilon=0.0285^{+0.0888+0.1456}_{-0.0895-0.1475}$ for the anisotropic black hole and $q=-0.0305^{+0.1034+0.1953}_{-0.0895-0.1470}$ for the tidal Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{o}$m (RN) black hole. Based on the fitted data and physical requirement, we calculate the photon deflection, the angular separation and time delay between different relativistic images of the anisotropic black hole and the tidal RN black hole in the ranges $-0.1190<\epsilon<0$ and $-0.1775

Hyperspectral images (HSIs) provide exceptional spatial and spectral resolution of a scene, crucial for various remote sensing applications. However, the high dimensionality, presence of noise and outliers, and the need for precise labels of HSIs present significant challenges to HSIs analysis, motivating the development of performant HSI clustering algorithms. This paper introduces a novel unsupervised HSI clustering algorithm, Superpixel-based and Spatially-regularized Diffusion Learning (S2DL), which addresses these challenges by incorporating rich spatial information encoded in HSIs into diffusion geometry-based clustering. S2DL employs the Entropy Rate Superpixel (ERS) segmentation technique to partition an image into superpixels, then constructs a spatially-regularized diffusion graph using the most representative high-density pixels. This approach reduces computational burden while preserving accuracy. Cluster modes, serving as exemplars for underlying cluster structure, are identified as the highest-density pixels farthest in diffusion distance from other highest-density pixels. These modes guide the labeling of the remaining representative pixels from ERS superpixels. Finally, majority voting is applied to the labels assigned within each superpixel to propagate labels to the rest of the image. This spatial-spectral approach simultaneously simplifies graph construction, reduces computational cost, and improves clustering performance. S2DL's performance is illustrated with extensive experiments on three publicly available, real-world HSIs: Indian Pines, Salinas, and Salinas A. Additionally, we apply S2DL to landscape-scale, unsupervised mangrove species mapping in the Mai Po Nature Reserve, Hong Kong, using a Gaofen-5 HSI. Exact solutions of spherically symmetric black hole and gravitational wave are explored in $f(R)$ gravity in arbitrary dimension. We find two exact solutions for the radiation and absorption of null dust. In the framework of general relativity, the Birkhoff theorem strictly forbids the existence of spherical gravitational waves in vacuum space. This article describes research carried out during 2023 under an International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS)-funded project to develop and disseminate a metadata catalogue of Earth observation data sources/products and types that are relevant to human health research in exposomics, as a free service to interested researchers worldwide. The proof-of-concept catalogue was informed by input from existing research literature on the subject (desk research), as well as online communications with, and relevant research publications collected from, a small panel (n = 5) of select experts from the academia in three countries (China, UK and USA). It has 90 metadata records of relevant Earth observation datasets (n = 40) and associated health-focused research publications (n = 50). The project's online portal offers a searchable version of the catalogue featuring a number of search modes and filtering options. It is hoped future, more comprehensive versions of this service will enable more researchers and studies to discover and use remote sensing data about population-level exposures to disease determinants (exposomic determinants of disease) in combination with other relevant data to reveal fresh insights that could improve our understanding of relevant diseases, and hence contribute to the development of better-optimized prevention and management plans to tackle them., Comment: 6 figures

Recently emerged Vision-and-Language Navigation (VLN) tasks have drawn significant attention in both computer vision and natural language processing communities. Existing VLN tasks are built for agents that navigate on the ground, either indoors or outdoors. However, many tasks require intelligent agents to carry out in the sky, such as UAV-based goods delivery, traffic/security patrol, and scenery tour, to name a few. Navigating in the sky is more complicated than on the ground because agents need to consider the flying height and more complex spatial relationship reasoning. To fill this gap and facilitate research in this field, we propose a new task named AerialVLN, which is UAV-based and towards outdoor environments. We develop a 3D simulator rendered by near-realistic pictures of 25 city-level scenarios. Our simulator supports continuous navigation, environment extension and configuration. We also proposed an extended baseline model based on the widely-used cross-modal-alignment (CMA) navigation methods. We find that there is still a significant gap between the baseline model and human performance, which suggests AerialVLN is a new challenging task. The Johannsen black hole (BH) is a generic rotating BH admitting three constants of motions (energy, angular momentum, and Carter constant) and is characterized by four deviation parameters besides mass and spin, which could be a model-independent probe of the no-hair theorem. We systematically study the dynamics of null particles around Johannsen BH, revealing the effects of the deviation parameters on the BH shadow as well as the effects of spin. By using the shadow boundaries of M87* and SgrA*, for the first time, the deviation parameters of those BHs are constrained. The detailed results depend on the spin $a$ and inclination angle $ \theta_0$. Assuming $a=0.2$ and $\theta_0=15^{\circ}$, the deviation parameter $\alpha_{13}$ are constained within $\sim $ [-3.5, 6] for M87* observation and [-3, 0.5] for SgrA* observation. We also show the images of a Johannsen BH surrounded by a Page-Thorne thin accretion disk observed by a remote observer with a ray-tracing method and discuss the effects of the deviation parameters on deforming the accretion disk image, which could be tested by observations with higher sensitivities in the future., Comment: 20 pages, 9 figures

We construct a star with uniform density in frame of tracking Rastall gravity, in which the density of effective dark matter tracks the density of dark energy. To demonstrate stability of the star we analyse the axial gravitational perturbations of the star. We find that echo wavelets naturally appear in the axial gravitational waves when the dark matter plays a significant role in construction of the star. We show that the physical origin of this echo roots in the potential valley near the surface of star. This effect leads to a clue to detect Rastall dark energy from the ringdown phase of gravitational wave from binary stars enriched by dark matter., Comment: 11 pages, 3 figs

We find phase transitions and critical phenomena of the FRW (Friedmann-Robertson-Walker) universe in the framework of an effective scalar-tensor theory that belongs to the Horndeski class. We identify the thermodynamic pressure (generalized force) $P$ of the FRW universe in this theory with the work density $W$ of the perfect fluid, which is a natural definition directly read out from the first law of thermodynamics. We derive the thermodynamic equation of state $P=P(V, T)$ for the FRW universe in this theory and make a thorough discussion of its $P$-$V$ phase transitions and critical phenomena. We find a class of novel black holes in higher derivative theory. The novel black holes follow behavior of~\sch\ ones at large mass limit, while dramatically differentiate from ~\sch\ ones for little holes because of the effects which may root in quantum gravity. The temperature of the hole takes maximum for a specific mass, which is related to the new sale introduced in the higher derivative theory, and goes to zero at little mass limit. We study the thermodynamic properties of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe in the brane world scenario, concentrating on the Randall-Sundrum II model. From the first law of thermodynamics for the FRW universe, we find that the work density W can be identified with the thermodynamic pressure P. We construct the equation of state P=P(V,T) for the FRW universe in the brane world scenario, which does not show P-V phase transition. We further study the Joule-Thomson expansion of the FRW universe, and derive the Joule-Thomson coefficient, which has an inversion point that is affected by the brane tension. These results could provide new ways to test the brane world scenario and extra dimension., Comment: corrected spelling errors

Black hole as elementary particle is a fairly glamorous idea. For ordinary black holes, a surrounding particle inevitably penetrates into the interior of the hole since the center of the hole is an infinite potential well. For the first time we demonstrate that an extreme dilatonic black hole in spherical symmetry perfectly behaves as an atom, in the sense that its surrounding cloud of particles are completely stable. Thus we reach a spherical cloud of dilatonic black hole. We find exact wave functions of the cloud for arbitrary gravitational fine structure constant $\mu M$, and clear the underlying physical nature of the stability. Through careful studies of the exact wave function, we find the spectrum of this system.
