Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs) are recently attracting a wide interest due to their capability of tuning wireless propagation environments in order to increase the system performance of wireless networks. In this paper, a multiuser wireless network assisted by a RIS is studied and resource allocation algorithms are presented for several scenarios. First of all, the problem of channel estimation is considered, and an algorithm that permits separate estimation of the mobile user-to-RIS and RIS-to-base stations components is proposed. Then, for the special case of a single-user system, three possible approaches are shown in order to optimize the Signal-to-Noise Ratio with respect to the beamformer used at the base station and to the RIS phase shifts. Next, for a multiuser system with two cells, assuming channel-matched beamforming, the geometric mean of the downlink Signal-to-Interference plus Noise Ratios across users is maximized with respect to the base stations transmit powers and RIS phase shifts configurations. In this scenario, the RIS is placed at the cell-edge and some users are jointly served by two base stations to increase the system performance. This letter focuses on the problem of pilot assignment in cell-free massive MIMO systems. Exploiting the well-known Hungarian algorithms, two procedures are proposed, one maximizing the system throughput, and the other one maximizing the fairness across users. The algorithms operate based on the knowledge of large-scale fading coefficients as a proxy for the distances between users in the system and take into account both the uplink and downlink performance. We investigate the effect of measurement on the persistent current density in a lattice ring penetrated by an Aharonov-Bohm flux and coupled to a quantum dot which is continuously monitored by a point contact detector. It is demonstrated by explicit analysis of the time-evolution of current density that the persistent current in the lattice ring is suppressed completely due to dephasing of quantum states induced by an analogous which-way-measurment that whether or not the electron is localized on the quantum dot. Quantum transport through a double Aharonov-Bohm-interferometer in the presence of Andreev reflection is investigated in terms of the nonequilibrium Green function method with which the reflection current is obtained. Tunable Andreev reflection probabilities depending on the interdot coupling strength and magnetic flux as well are analysised in detail. It is found that the oscillation period of the reflection probability with respect to the magnetic flux for the double interferometer depends linearly on the ratio of two parts magnetic fluxes n, i.e. 2(n+1)pi, while that of a single interferometer is 2pi. The coupling strength not only affects the height and the linewidth of Andreev reflection current peaks vs gate votage but also shifts the peak positions. It is furthermore demonstrated that the Andreev reflection current peaks can be tuned by the magnetic fluxes., Comment: 13 pages, 12 figure
