By forming measurement matrices with the Kronecker product of two random matrices, image encryption in computational ghost imaging is investigated. The two-dimensional images are conveniently reconstructed with the pseudo-inverse matrices of the two random matrices. To suppress the noise, the method of truncated singular value decomposition can be applied to either or both of the two pseudo-inverse matrices. Further, our proposal facilitates for image encryption since more matrices can be involved in forming the measurement matrix. Two permutation matrices are inserted into the matrix sequence. The image information can only be reconstructed with the correct permutation matrices and the matrix sequence in image decryption. The experimental results show the facilitations our proposal. A scenario of ghost imaging with hybrid transform approach is proposed by integrating Hadamard, discrete cosine, and Haar matrices. The measurement matrix is formed by the Kronecker product of the two different transform matrices. The image information can be conveniently reconstructed by the corresponding inverse matrices. In experiment, six hybridization sets are performed in computational ghost imaging. For an object of staggered stripes, only one bucket signal survives in the Hadamard-cosine, Haar-Hadamard, and Haar-cosine hybridization sets, demonstrating flexible image compression. For a handmade windmill object, the quality factors of the reconstructed images vary with the hybridization sets. Sub-Nyquist sampling can be applied to either or both of the different transform matrices in each hybridization set in experiment. The hybridization method can be extended to apply more transforms at once. Itinerant ferromagnetism at room temperature is a key ingredient for spin transport and manipulation. Here, we report the realization of nearly-room-temperature itinerant ferromagnetism in Co doped Fe5GeTe2 thin flakes. The ferromagnetic transition temperature TC (323 K - 337 K) is almost unchanged when thickness is down to 12 nm and is still about 284 K at 2 nm (bilayer thickness). Theoretical calculations further indicate that the ferromagnetism persists in monolayer Fe4CoGeTe2. In addition to the robust ferromagnetism down to the ultrathin limit, Fe4CoGeTe2 exhibits an unusual temperature- and thickness-dependent intrinsic anomalous Hall effect. We propose that it could be ascribed to the dependence of band structure on thickness that changes the Berry curvature near the Fermi energy level subtly. The nearly-room-temperature ferromagnetism and tunable anomalous Hall effect in atomically thin Fe4CoGeTe2 provide opportunities to understand the exotic transport properties of two-dimensional van der Waals magnetic materials and explore their potential applications in spintronics., Comment: 28 pages, 4 figures, 1 table

As one of the closest supernovae (SNe) in the last decade, SN 2023ixf is an unprecedented target to investigate the progenitor star that exploded. However, there is still significant uncertainty in the reported progenitor properties. In this work, we present a detailed study of the progenitor of SN 2023ixf with two independent analyses. We first modelled its spectral energy distribution (SED) based on Hubble Space Telescope optical, Spitzer mid-infrared (IR), and ground-based near-IR data. We find that stellar pulsation and circumstellar extinction have great impacts on SED fitting, and the result suggests a relatively massive red supergiant (RSG) surrounded by C-rich dust with an initial mass of 16.2--17.4 Msun. The corresponding rate of mass-loss occurring at least 3 years before the SN explosion is about $2 \times 10^{-4} M_\odot$yr$^{-1}$. We also derived the star formation history of the SN environment based on resolved stellar populations, and the most recent star-forming epoch corresponds to a progenitor initial mass of 17--19 Msun, in agreement with that from our SED fitting. Recent experiment reported the self-passivated electride Hf2S with excellent stability and continuous electrocatalytic ability [S. H. Kang et al., Sci. Adv. 6, eaba7416 (2020)]. Starting from its 2H-type layered structure, we have studied the electronic, magnetic, and transport properties of the electride Hf2S in the monolayer and multilayer forms by combining first-principles electronic structure calculations and Kubo formula approach. Our calculations indicate that these thin films of Hf2S electride are both dynamically and thermodynamically stable. Astonishingly, the calculations further show that the outmost Hf atoms and the surface electron gas of the Hf2S multilayers are spin polarized, while the inner Hf atoms and the electron gas in the interlayer regions remain nonmagnetic. Due to the magnetic surface, the multilayer Hf2S exhibits many unusual transport properties such as the surface anomalous Hall effect and the electric-field-induced layer Hall effect. We perform a detailed analysis of the magnetotransport and de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) oscillations in crystal PdGa which is predicted to be a typical chiral Fermion semimetal from CoSi family holding a large Chern number. The unsaturated quadratic magnetoresistance (MR) and nonlinear Hall resistivity indicate that PdGa is a multi-band system without electron-hole compensation. Angle-dependent resistivity in PdGa shows weak anisotropy with twofold or threefold symmetry when the magnetic field rotates within the (1$\bar{1}$0) or (111) plane perpendicular to the current. Nine or three frequencies are extracted after the fast Fourier-transform analysis (FFT) of the dHvA oscillations with B//[001] or B//[011], respectively, which is confirmed to be consistent with the Fermi surfaces (FSs) obtained from first-principles calculations with spin-orbit coupling (SOC) considered., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures

The Zeeman effect describes the energy change of an atomic quantum state in magnetic field. The magnitude and the direction of this change depend on the dimensionless Lande g-factor. In quantum solids, the response of the Bloch electron states to the magnetic field also exhibits the Zeeman effect with an effective g-factor that was theoretically predicted to be dependent on the momentum. While typically negligible in many ordinary solids, the momentum-dependent variation of the g-factor is theorized to be substantially enhanced in many topological and magnetic systems. However, the momentum-dependence of the g-factor is notoriously difficult to extract and it is yet to be directly experimentally measured. In this work, we report the experimental discovery of a strongly momentum-dependent g-factor in a kagome magnet YMn6Sn6. Using spectroscopic-imaging scanning tunneling microscopy, we map the evolution of a massive Dirac band in the vicinity of the Fermi level as a function of magnetic field. We find that electronic states at different lattice momenta exhibit markedly different Zeeman energy shifts, giving rise to an anomalous g-factor that peaks around the Dirac point. Our work provides the first momentum-resolved visualization of Dirac band curvature manipulation by magnetic field, which should in principle be highly relevant to other topological kagome magnets., Comment: Final accepted version will appear in Nature Physics

The topological properties and intrinsic anomalous Hall effect of CsCl-type ferromagnets GdZn and GdCd have been studied based on first-principles electronic structure calculations. According to the calculated band structures, both GdZn and GdCd host nodal lines near the Fermi level. Once the magnetization breaks the mirror symmetries, the nodal lines are gapped. This can create a huge Berry curvature. A large anomalous Hall effect is then generated when the Fermi level resides within the opened gaps of the nodal lines. Our works indicate that GdZn and GdCd can provide a promising platform for exploring the interplay between topological property and magnetism., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures

The topological electronic properties of orthorhombic-phase Mo$_{2}$C and W$_{2}$C superconductors have been studied based on first-principles electronic structure calculations. Our studies show that both Mo$_{2}$C and W$_{2}$C are three-dimensional strong topological insulators defined on curved Fermi levels. The topological surface states on the (001) surface of Mo$_{2}$C right cross the Fermi level, while those of W$_{2}$C pass through the Fermi level with slight electron doping. These surface states hold helical spin textures and can be induced to become superconducting via a proximity effect, giving rise to an equivalent $p+ip$ type superconductivity. Our results show that Mo$_{2}$C and W$_{2}$C can provide a promising platform for exploring topological superconductivity and Majorana zero modes., Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures
