15. LANGUAGE MONITORING STUDY IN CHINA: PRACTICE AND REFLECTION

Abstract

The monitoring of language life has a long history in China. Since the beginning of the 21st century, efforts have been made to establish research institutions, build platforms and research teams in order to monitor the language life in present-day China. Remarkable achievements have been made on a continuous, large-scale and regular basis, and a backbone team named “Language Life School” has also been formed, both of which have played an important role in serving relevant national policy-making, social life and academic studies. After the summary of language monitoring practices, the paper further explored the rules and theories so as to boost the development of language monitoring as a discipline. Seven main perspectives and four basic characteristics of language monitoring study have been generalized, and eight issues requiring further study have been discussed as well, including determination of boundaries and focuses, identification of authenticity and validness, cyberspace monitoring, formulation of rules and theories, improvement of technologies, means, approaches and research systems, mechanisms for the prediction and early warning of language situations and so on.

21. Amorphous–Crystalline Heterostructure with Ample Oxygen Vacancy In SituEvolved from Heterojunction Ni(OH)2@V–Ni3S2/NF toward Efficient Water Electrolysis

Abstract

Water electrolysis is a green and efficient way to generate pure hydrogen energy for the alleviation of the energy crisis. Non-noble metal compounds, like Ni-based (oxy)hydroxides and sulfides, have become competitive candidates to substitute for the noble metal catalysts toward water electrolysis. Construction of heterojunction catalysts works as an effective approach to improve the performance of water electrolysis. However, it remains a challenge to explore the structure evolution of heterojunction transition metal electrocatalysts during water electrolysis and uncover its effect. In this work, we curated and synthesized V-doped Ni3S2nanorods decorated with Ni(OH)2nanosheet in situgrowth on nickel foam (Ni(OH)2@V–Ni3S2/NF), composed of the shell of Ni(OH)2and the core of V–Ni3S2. Evolution of Ni(OH)2@V–Ni3S2/NF occurred during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) courses and resulted in an amorphous–crystalline heterostructure with oxygen vacancies, which acted as the real catalyst. Profited from the core–shell structure with enhanced active surface area, excellent conductivity, and amorphous heterostructure with ample oxygen vacancies, the optimized catalyst exhibited excellent properties with overpotentials of 231 mV for the OER and 114 mV for the HER to attain 10 mA cm–2with outstanding long-term durability. The asymmetrical two electrodes constructed by Ni(OH)2@V–Ni3S2/NF required 1.57 V to drive 10 mA cm–2. This research provides a new chance to explore the dynamic evolution of an electrocatalyst and applies a reference for the design of an effective catalyst.

25. On Core Words and Their Types.

Abstract

Briefly speaking, the so-called core words are the essential part of lexicon system. But the essential knowledge on their features, range, criterion, and so on, differs widely and thus causing ambiguity in theory and difficulty in operation. The major problem lies in the absolutization of core words, neglecting their relativity and diversity. As a matter of fact, there exit different layers and types in core words. According to our primary exploration, from the aspect of language basics, there are monolingual core words, multi-lingual core words and whole language core words; from the aspect of their existence, there are language core words and pragmatic core words; from the aspect of time dimension, there are synchronic core words and diachronic core words; from the aspect of register, there are universal core words and dialectal core words; from the aspect of lexicon status, there are axis core words and marginal core words, etc. These various core words are related to each other as well as different from each other. 26. Lexical Decisive Function of Meaning on Grammar.

Abstract

The problem of the relation between lexicon and grammar went with the history of language but has not yet been sovled satisfactorily. Grammar has been attached more attention to while the value of lexicon is ignored. It has been proven that the dissevering of the relation between lexicon and grammar-not paying attention to the relation between the two-affected our deep recognition and accurate mastery of the mechanism of language. It is putting the cart before the horse to simply regard grammar as the dominant role and core of language, while lexicon being the spare materials and the application of language being a combination and collocation of words according to the grammatical rules. As a matter of fact, meaning is the start and also the finish of language. It's really so in Chinese that lexical meaning has its decisive function on the feature of the essential factors, the functions, the combination and collocation model and the form of expression of language.
