Abstract

The magnetised near detector (ND280) of the T2K long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment has been recently upgraded aiming to satisfy the requirement of reducing the systematic uncertainty from measuring the neutrinonucleus interaction cross section, which is the largest systematic uncertainty in the search for leptonic charge-parity symmetry violation. A key component of the upgrade is SuperFGD, a 3D segmented plastic scintillator detector made of approximately 2,000,000 optically-isolated 1 cm3 cubes. It will provide a 3D image of GeV neutrino interactions by combining tracking and stopping power measurements of final state particles with sub-nanosecond time resolution. The performance of SuperFGD is characterized by the precision of its response to charged particles as well as the systematic effects that might affect the physics measurements. Hence, a detailed Geant4 based optical simulation of the SuperFGD building block, i.e. a plastic scintillating cube read out by three wavelength shifting fibers, has been developed and validated with the different datasets collected in various beam tests. Abstract

Meteors are important phenomenon reflecting many properties of interplanetary dust particles. The study of their origin, mass distribution, and orbit evolution all require large data volume, which can only be obtained using large meteor networks. After meteor networks in Europe and America, we present our designs and upgrades of a proposing network in China. The new designs are mainly aimed for facilitating data gathering process. Each of the newly designed meteor stations now can support up to 4 cameras to cover the full sky. Newer version of meteor station software now works as an integral system, which can streamline the process of detecting, measuring and uploading meteors. We have built a meteor data platform to store, process and display the meteor data automatically. The software and data platform are designed to be easy to learn and use, so it can attract more people to join and operate meteor stations. Four stations are installed as the first phase of the network, and during the operation in 10 months, the network detected 8,683 orbits, and we find that half of the orbits can be related to established meteoroid streams. The statistical analysis of sporadic meteoroids shows a bimodal distribution of the velocities, which coincides with previous studies. The distribution of Tisserand parameters, $T_j$, shows the two peaks at $T_j=0$ and 3, indicating the different orbits of parent bodies (isotropic and ecliptic), which are divided by $T_j=2$. The falling trajectory of a meteorite was also predicted using observational data of the network. Abstract

Most of the super-massive black holes in the Universe accrete material in an obscured phase. While it is commonly accepted that the "dusty torus" is responsible for the nuclear obscuration, its geometrical, physical, and chemical properties are far from being properly understood. In this paper, we take advantage of the multiple X-ray observations taken between 2007 and 2020, as well as of optical to far infra-red (FIR) observations of NGC 6300, a nearby ($z=0.0037$) Seyfert 2 galaxy. The goal of this project is to study the nuclear emission and the properties of the obscuring medium, through a multi-wavelength study conducted from X-ray to IR. We perform a simultaneous X-ray spectral fitting and optical-FIR spectral energy distribution (SED) fitting to investigate the obscuring torus. For the X-ray spectral fitting, physically motivated torus models, such as borus02, UXClumpy and XClumpy are used. The SED fitting is done using XCIGALE. Through joint analysis, we constrain the physical parameters of the torus and the emission properties of the accreting supermassive black hole. Through X-ray observations taken in the last 13 years, we have not found any significant line-of-sight column density variability for this source, but observed the X-ray flux dropping $\sim40-50\%$ in 2020 with respect to previous observations. The UXClumpy model predicts the presence of an inner ring of Compton-thick gaseous medium, responsible for the reflection dominated spectra above 10 keV. Through multi-wavelength SED fitting, we measure an Eddington accretion rate $\lambda_{\rm{Edd}}\sim2\times10^{-3}$, which falls in the range of the radiatively inefficient accretion solutions., Comment: Submitted to A&A, currently under review

Abstract

Massive stars end their life as core-collapse supernovae, amongst which some extremes are Type Ic broad-lined supernovae associated with long-duration gamma-ray bursts (LGRBs) having powerful relativistic jets. Their less-extreme brethren make unsuccessful jets that are choked inside the stars, appearing as X-ray flashes or low-luminosity GRBs. On the other hand, there exists a population of extragalactic fast X-ray transients (EFXTs) with timescales ranging from seconds to thousands of seconds, whose origins remain obscure. Known sources that contribute to the observed EFXT population include the softer analogs of LGRBs, shock breakouts of supernovae, or unsuccessful jets. Here, we report the discovery of the bright X-ray transient EP240414a detected by the Einstein Probe (EP), which is associated with the Type Ic supernova SN 2024gsa at a redshift of 0.401. The X-ray emission evolution is characterised by a very soft energy spectrum peaking at < 1.3 keV, which makes it distinct from known LGRBs, X-ray flashes, or low-luminosity GRBs. Follow-up observations at optical and radio bands revealed the existence of a weak relativistic jet that interacts with an extended shell surrounding the progenitor star. Located on the outskirts of a massive galaxy, this event reveals a new population of explosions of Wolf-Rayet stars characterised by a less powerful engine that drives a successful but weak jet, possibly owing to a progenitor star with a smaller core angular momentum than in traditional LGRB progenitors., Comment: 43 pages, 9 figures, 4 tables, submitted. Abstract

Meteors carry important and indispensable information about the interplanetary environment, which can be used to understand the origin and evolution of our solar system. We have developed a Multi-station Meteor Monitoring ($\rm M^3$) system that can observe almost the entire sky and detect meteors automatically, and it determines their trajectories. They are highly extensible to construct a large-scale network. Each station consists of a waterproof casing, a wide field-of-view lens with a CMOS camera, and a supporting computer. The camera has a built-in GPS module for accurately timing the meteoroid entry into the atmosphere (accurate to 1 $\mu$s), which is the most prominent characteristic compared with other existing meteor monitoring devices. We have also developed a software package that can efficiently identify and measure meteors appearing in the real-time video stream and compute the orbits of meteoroids in the solar system via multi-station observations. During the Geminid meteor shower in 2021, the M$^3$ system was tested at two stations ($\sim$55 km apart) in the suburbs of Beijing. The test results show that the astrometric accuracy is about 0.3-0.4 arcmin. About 800 meteors were detected by these two stations. A total of 473 meteors have their orbits calculated by our software, and 377 of them belong to the Geminid meteoroid stream. Abstract

Precise direct cosmic-ray (CR) measurements provide an important probe to study the energetic particle sources in our Galaxy, and the interstellar environment through which these particles propagate. Uncertainties on hadronic models, ion-nucleon cross sections in particular, are currently the limiting factor towards obtaining more accurate CR ion flux measurements with calorimetric space-based experiments. We present an energy-dependent measurement of the inelastic cross section of protons and helium-4 nuclei (alpha particles) on a Bi$_4$Ge$_3$O$_{12}$ target, using 88 months of data collected by the DAMPE space mission. The kinetic energy range per nucleon of the measurement points ranges from 18 GeV to 9 TeV for protons, and from 5 GeV/n to 3 TeV/n for helium-4 nuclei. Our results lead to a significant improvement of the CR flux normalisation. Abstract

The existence of magic numbers of protons and neutrons in nuclei is essential for understanding nuclear structure and fundamental nuclear forces. Over decades, researchers have conducted theoretical and experimental studies on the new magic number Z(N) = 6, focusing on observables such as radii, binding energy, electromagnetic transition, and nucleon separation energies. We perform the ab initio no-core shell model calculations for the occupation numbers of the lowest single particle states in the ground states of Z(N) = 6 and Z(N) = 8 isotopes (isotones). Our calculations do not support Z(N) = 6 as a magic number over a span of atomic numbers. However, 14C and 14O exhibit the characteristics of double-magic nuclei.

Abstract

A novel method to reconstruct the energy of hadronic showers in the CMS High Granularity Calorimeter (HGCAL) is presented. The HGCAL is a sampling calorimeter with very fine transverse and longitudinal granularity. The active media are silicon sensors and scintillator tiles readout by SiPMs and the absorbers are a combination of lead and Cu/CuW in the electromagnetic section, and steel in the hadronic section. The shower reconstruction method is based on graph neural networks and it makes use of a dynamic reduction network architecture. It is shown that the algorithm is able to capture and mitigate the main effects that normally hinder the reconstruction of hadronic showers using classical reconstruction methods, by compensating for fluctuations in the multiplicity, energy, and spatial distributions of the shower's constituents. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated using test beam data collected in 2018 prototype of the CMS HGCAL accompanied by a section of the CALICE AHCAL prototype. 9. The Energy Budget in the Jet of High-frequency Peaked BL Lacertae Objects

Abstract

Energy equipartition and the energy budget in the jet are import issues for the radiation mechanism of blazars. Early work predominantly concentrated on flat-spectrum radio quasars and a limited number of BL Lacertae objects (BL Lacs). In this paper, we compile 348 high-frequency peaked BL Lac objects (HBLs) based on the catalog of active galactic nuclei (4LAC-DR3) from Fermi-LAT, and employ \textit{JetSet} to fit the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of these HBLs in the framework of the one-zone lepton model. We aim to determine whether the energy budget is reasonable and whether the energy equipartition is satisfied in HBLs. The results of the statistical analysis suggest that: (1) SEDs of HBLs can be reproduced well by using the one-zone lepton model; however it cannot achieve the energy equalization, and the relativistic electron energy density is far greater than the magnetic field energy density, $U_{e} \gtrsim100 U_{B}$; (2) the majority of the HBLs are located in the $t_{cool}$$<$$t_{dyn}$ region (where the horizontal coordinate represents the jet power of electrons, while the ordinate indicates the ratio between the dynamic time scale to the cooling timescale), and the jet kinetic power of HBLs is greater than the jet power of radiation; there is a very low radiation efficiency, we deduce that HBLs may have optically thin advection-dominated accretion flows; (3) the $\log\epsilon_{B}$ of HBLs is less than zero, which indicates that the jet kinetic power of HBLs is not affected by Poynting flux; (4) the relationships with $U_{e} >U_{Syn}\sim U_{B}$, $L_{e}\sim L_{p}>L_{B}\sim L_{rad}$ and $\log\epsilon_{e}>0.5$ are established. Abstract

The kinetic temperature structure of the massive filament DR21 has been mapped using the IRAM 30 m telescope. This mapping employed the para-H$_2$CO triplet ($J_{\rm K_aK_c}$ = 3$_{03}$--2$_{02}$, 3$_{22}$--2$_{21}$, and 3$_{21}$--2$_{20}$) on a scale of $\sim$0.1 pc. By modeling the averaged line ratios of para-H$_{2}$CO with RADEX under non-LTE assumptions, the kinetic temperature of the dense gas was derived at a density of $n$(H$_{2}$) = 10$^{5}$ cm$^{-3}$. The para-H$_2$CO lines reveal significantly higher temperatures than NH$_3$ (1,1)/(2,2) and FIR wavelengths. The dense clumps appear to correlate with the notable kinetic temperature. Among the four dense cores (N44, N46, N48, and N54), temperature gradients are observed on a scale of $\sim$0.1-0.3 pc. This suggests that the warm dense gas is influenced by internal star formation activity. With the exception of N54, the temperature profiles of these cores were fitted with power-law indices ranging from $-$0.3 to $-$0.5. This indicates that the warm dense gas is heated by radiation emitted from internally embedded protostar(s) and/or clusters. While there is no direct evidence supporting the idea that the dense gas is heated by shocks resulting from a past explosive event in the DR21 region, our measurements toward the DR21W1 region provide compelling evidence that the dense gas is indeed heated by shocks originating from the western DR21 flow. Higher temperatures appear to be associated with turbulence. The physical parameters of the dense gas in the DR21 filament exhibit a remarkable similarity to the results obtained in OMC-1 and N113. This may imply that the physical mechanisms governing the dynamics and thermodynamics of dense gas traced by H$_{2}$CO in diverse star formation regions may be dominated by common underlying principles despite variations in specific environmental conditions. Abstract

Identifying the elusive spinon excitations in quantum spin liquid (QSL) materials is what scientists have long sought for. Recently, thermal conductivity ($\kappa$) has emerged to be a decisive probe because the fermionic nature of spinons leads to a characteristic nonzero linear $\kappa_0/T$ term while approaching zero Kelvin. So far, only a few systems have been reported to exhibit such term. Here, we report a $\kappa_0/T \approx$ 0.01 WK$^{-2}$m$^{-1}$, the largest $\kappa_0/T$ value ever observed in magnetic oxide QSL candidates, in a new quantum magnet Pr$_2$Ga$_2$BeO$_7$ with a Shastry-Sutherland lattice (SSL). Its QSL nature is further supported by the power-law temperature dependence of the specific heat, a plateau of muon spin relaxation rate, and gapless inelastic neutron spectra. Abstract

The Super-Kamiokande and T2K collaborations present a joint measurement of neutrino oscillation parameters from their atmospheric and beam neutrino data. It uses a common interaction model for events overlapping in neutrino energy and correlated detector systematic uncertainties between the two datasets, which are found to be compatible. Using 3244.4 days of atmospheric data and a beam exposure of $19.7(16.3) \times 10^{20}$ protons on target in (anti)neutrino mode, the analysis finds a 1.9$\sigma$ exclusion of CP-conservation (defined as $J_{CP}=0$) and a preference for the normal mass ordering., Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

The KM2A is the largest sub-array of the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). It consists of 5216 electromagnetic particle detectors (EDs) and 1188 muon detectors (MDs). The data recorded by the EDs and MDs are used to reconstruct primary information of cosmic ray and gamma-ray showers. This information is used for physical analysis in gamma-ray astronomy and cosmic ray physics. To ensure the reliability of the LHAASO-KM2A data, a three-level quality control system has been established. It is used to monitor the status of detector units, stability of reconstructed parameters and the performance of the array based on observations of the Crab Nebula and Moon shadow. This paper will introduce the control system and its application on the LHAASO-KM2A data collected from August 2021 to July 2023. During this period, the pointing and angular resolution of the array were stable. From the observations of the Moon shadow and Crab Nebula, the results achieved using the two methods are consistent with each other. According to the observation of the Crab Nebula at energies from 25 TeV to 100 TeV, the time averaged pointing errors are estimated to be $-0.003^{\circ} \pm 0.005^{\circ}$ and $0.001^{\circ} \pm 0.006^{\circ}$ in the R.A. and Dec directions, respectively., Comment: 15 pages, 9 figures

Abstract

Long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are believed to originate from core collapse of massive stars. High-redshift GRBs can probe the star formation and reionization history of the early universe, but their detection remains rare. Here we report the detection of a GRB triggered in the 0.5--4 keV band by the Wide-field X-ray Telescope (WXT) on board the Einstein Probe (EP) mission, designated as EP240315a, whose bright peak was also detected by the Swift Burst Alert Telescope and Konus-Wind through off-line analyses. At a redshift of $z=4.859$, EP240315a showed a much longer and more complicated light curve in the soft X-ray band than in gamma-rays. Benefiting from a large field-of-view ($\sim$3600 deg$^2$) and a high sensitivity, EP-WXT captured the earlier engine activation and extended late engine activity through a continuous detection. With a peak X-ray flux at the faint end of previously known high-$z$ GRBs, the detection of EP240315a demonstrates the great potential for EP to study the early universe via GRBs., Comment: 41 pages, 8 figures, 7 tables

Abstract

Dyes used in industries such as textile, paper, and leather are known to be harmful to both human health and aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, finding effective and sustainable methods to remove dyes from wastewater is crucial for mitigating the detrimental effects of pollution.TiN nanoparticles have good absorption and conversion of light energy into thermal energy in the visible range of the spectrum, which makes them promising in various applications, from biomedical to environmental protection. In this work, it is shown that titanium nitride nanoparticles also possess promising adsorption capabilitieseffect. TiN nanoparticles were synthesized by laser ablation method in liquid. Water, acetone and acetonitrile are used as solvent. Nanoparticles were characterized by scanning and transmission microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, which showed the formation of the under-stoichiometric titanium nitride (TiN1-x). TiN nanoparticles are investigated as a promising object for high adsorption It is shown that adsorption of TiN nanoparticles is associated with the electrostatic effect and the presence of pores in the synthesized nanoparticles. Optimal dye absorption capabilities were found to be associated with a low amount of Ti vacancies and high amount of N vacancies acting as donor states. Abstract

We propose a scheme leveraging reinforcement learning to engineer control fields for generating non-classical states. It is exemplified by the application to prepare spin-squeezed states for an open collective spin model where a linear control field is designed to govern the dynamics. The reinforcement learning agent determines the temporal sequence of control pulses, commencing from a coherent spin state in an environment characterized by dissipation and dephasing. Compared to the constant control scenario, this approach provides various control sequences maintaining collective spin squeezing and entanglement. It is observed that denser application of the control pulses enhances the performance of the outcomes. However, there is a minor enhancement in the performance by adding control actions. The proposed strategy demonstrates increased effectiveness for larger systems. Thermal excitations of the reservoir are detrimental to the control outcomes. Feasible experiments are suggested to implement this control proposal based on the comparison with the others. The extensions to continuous control problems and another quantum system are discussed. The replaceability of the reinforcement learning module is also emphasized. This research paves the way for its application in manipulating other quantum systems.

21. Quadrupole dynamics of carbon isotopes and 10Be

Abstract

Electric quadrupole (E2) moments and transitions provide measures of nuclear deformation and related collective structure. However, matrix elements of the E2 operator are sensitive to the nuclear wave function at large distances and are poorly convergent within the ab initio no-core shell model approach. We demonstrate for the first time that the ratio of neutron to proton quadrupole transition matrix elements, Mn/Mp, is well-converged in the ab initio no-core shell model and provides a new and robust tool for comparing with experimental results. We find that our parameter-free results for Mn/Mp for the carbon isotopes and 10Be compare well with experiment, where available, and offer new insight into the quadrupole dynamics of nuclear response.

Abstract

The JWST North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) Time Domain Field (TDF) is a $>$14 arcmin diameter field optimized for multi-wavelength time-domain science with JWST. It has been observed across the electromagnetic spectrum both from the ground and from space, including with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). As part of HST observations over 3 cycles (the "TREASUREHUNT" program), deep images were obtained with ACS/WFC in F435W and F606W that cover almost the entire JWST NEP TDF. Many of the individual pointings of these programs partially overlap, allowing an initial assessment of the potential of this field for time-domain science with HST and JWST. The cumulative area of overlapping pointings is ~88 arcmin$^2$, with time intervals between individual epochs that range between 1 day and 4$+$ years. To a depth of $m_{AB}$ $\simeq$ 29.5 mag (F606W), we present the discovery of 12 transients and 190 variable candidates. For the variable candidates, we demonstrate that Gaussian statistics are applicable, and estimate that ~80 are false positives. The majority of the transients will be supernovae, although at least two are likely quasars. Most variable candidates are AGN, where we find 0.42% of the general $z$ $<$ 6 field galaxy population to vary at the $~3\sigma$ level. Based on a 5-year timeframe, this translates into a random supernova areal density of up to ~0.07 transients per arcmin$^2$ (~245 deg$^{-2}$) per epoch, and a variable AGN areal density of ~1.25 variables per arcmin$^2$ (~4500 deg$^{-2}$) to these depths., Comment: 32 pages, 11 figures, 5 tables, 1 Appendix

Abstract

The hard X-ray emission in active galactic nuclei (AGN) and black hole X-ray binaries is thought to be produced by a hot cloud of electrons referred to as the corona. This emission, commonly described by a power law with a high-energy cutoff, is suggestive of Comptonization by thermal electrons. While several hypotheses have been proposed to explain the origin, geometry, and composition of the corona, we still lack a clear understanding of this fundamental component. NuSTAR has been playing a key role improving our knowledge of X-ray coronae thanks to its unprecedented sensitivity above 10 keV. However, these constraints are limited to bright, nearby sources. The High Energy X-ray Probe (HEX-P) is a probe-class mission concept combining high spatial resolution X-ray imaging and broad spectral coverage (0.2-80 keV) with a sensitivity superior to current facilities. In this paper, we highlight the major role that HEX-P will play in further advancing our insights of X-ray coronae, notably in AGN. We demonstrate how HEX-P will measure key properties and track the temporal evolution of coronae in unobscured AGN. This will allow us to determine their electron distribution and test the dominant emission mechanisms. Furthermore, we show how HEX-P will accurately estimate the coronal properties of obscured AGN in the local Universe, helping address fundamental questions about AGN unification. In addition, HEX-P will characterize coronae in a large sample of luminous quasars at cosmological redshifts for the first time and track the evolution of coronae in transient systems in real time. We also demonstrate how HEX-P will enable estimating the coronal geometry using spectral-timing techniques. Abstract

Ever since the discovery of the first Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), substantial observational and theoretical effort has been invested into understanding how massive black holes have evolved across cosmic time. Circum-nuclear obscuration is now established as a crucial component, with almost every AGN observed known to display signatures of some level of obscuration in their X-ray spectra. But despite more than six decades of effort, substantial open questions remain: How does the accretion power impact the structure of the circum-nuclear obscurer? What are the dynamical properties of the obscurer? Can dense circum-nuclear obscuration exist around intrinsically weak AGN? How many intermediate mass black holes occupy the centers of dwarf galaxies? In this paper, we showcase a number of next-generation prospects attainable with the High Energy X-ray Probe (https://hexp.org) to contribute towards solving these questions in the 2030s. The uniquely broad (0.2--80 keV) and strictly simultaneous X-ray passband of HEX-P makes it ideally suited for studying the temporal co-evolution between the central engine and circum-nuclear obscurer. Improved sensitivities and reduced background will enable the development of spectroscopic models complemented by current and future multi-wavelength observations. We show that the angular resolution of HEX-P both below and above 10 keV will enable the discovery and confirmation of accreting massive black holes at both low accretion power and low black hole masses even when concealed by thick obscuration. In combination with other next-generation observations of the dusty hearts of nearby galaxies, HEX-P will hence be pivotal in paving the way towards a complete picture of black hole growth and galaxy co-evolution., Comment: To be submitted for peer review to a HEX-P Collection in Frontiers of Astronomy and Space Science. Abstract

The second brightest GRB in history, GRB230307A provides an ideal laboratory to study the details of GRB prompt emission thanks to its extraordinarily high photon statistics and its single broad pulse overall shape characterized by an energy-dependent fast-rise-exponential-decay (FRED) profile. Here we demonstrate that its broad pulse is composed of many rapidly variable short pulses, rather than being the superposition of many short pulses on top of a slow component. Such a feature is consistent with the picture of many mini-jets due to local magnetic reconnection events in a large emission zone far from the GRB central engine, as envisaged in the internal-collision-induced magnetic reconnection and turbulence (ICMART) model, but raises a great challenge to the internal shock models that attribute all variability components to collisions among different shells. Since relativistic mini-jets demand strong magnetization in the outflow, this work provides strong evidence for a Poynting-flux-dominated jet composition of this bright GRB., Comment: 7 pages and 2 figures in the main text. 27 pages and 9 figures in total

Abstract

The Time Domain Field (TDF) near the North Ecliptic Pole in JWST's continuous-viewing zone will become a premier "blank field" for extragalactic science. JWST/NIRCam data in a 16 arcmin$^2$ portion of the TDF identify 4.4 $\mu$m counterparts for 62 of 63 3 GHz sources with S(3 GHz) > 5 {\mu}Jy. The one unidentified radio source may be a lobe of a nearby Seyfert galaxy, or it may be an infrared-faint radio source. The bulk properties of the radio-host galaxies are consistent with those found by previous work: redshifts range from 0.14 to 4.4 with a median redshift of 1.33. The radio emission arises primarily from star formation in $\sim 2/3$ of the sample and from an active galactic nucleus in $\sim 1/3$, but just over half the sample shows evidence for an AGN either in the spectral energy distribution or by radio excess. All but three counterparts are brighter than magnitude 23 AB at 4.4 $\mu$m, and the exquisite resolution of JWST identifies correct counterparts for sources for which observations with lower angular resolution would mis-identify a nearby bright source as the counterpart when the correct one is faint and red. 28. Dynamics Reflects Quantum Phase Transition of Rabi Model

Abstract

As the simplest and most fundamental model describing the interaction between light and matter, a breakdown in the rotating wave approximation of the Rabi model leads to phase transition versus coupling strength when the frequency of the qubit greatly surpasses that of the oscillator. Besides the phase transition revealed in the ground state, we show that the dynamics of physical quantities can reflect such a phase transition for this model. In addition to the excitation of the bosonic field in the ground state, we show that the witness of inseparability (entanglement), mutual information, quantum Fisher information, and the variance of cavity quadrature can be employed to detect the phase transition in quench. We also reveal the negative impact of temperature on checking the phase transition by quench. This model can be implemented using trapped ions, superconducting artificial atoms coupled bosonic modes, and quantum simulations. By reflecting the phase transition in a fundamental quantum optics model without imposing the thermodynamic limit, this work offers an idea to explore phase transitions by non-equilibrium process for open quantum systems.

All analyses were performed using the Review Manager software v5.4 and Stata software v17.0.Results: Herein, 25 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 2018 patients were included. Generally, acupuncture combined with lifestyle interventions outperformed lifestyle interventions alone in terms of body weight (MD = − 4.73, 95% CI [− 6.32, − 3.13], p < 0.00001), body mass index (BMI) (MD = − 2.11, 95% CI [− 2.75, − 1.48], p < 0.00001), waist circumference (WC) (MD = − 4.96, 95% CI [− 6.89, − 3.03], p < 0.00001), body fat percentage (BF %) (MD = − 2.61, 95% CI [− 4,51, − 0.71], p = 0.007), fasting plasma glucose (FPG) (SMD = − 0.66, 95% CI [− 1.02, − 0.31], p = 0.0002), fasting serum insulin (FINS) (SMD = − 1.12, 95% CI [− 1.44, − 0.81], p < 0.00001), homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (MD = − 1.22, 95% CI [− 1.50, − 0.94], p < 0.00001), total cholesterol (TC) (SMD = − 1.14, 95% CI [− 1.83, − 0.45], p = 0.001), triglyceride (TG) (SMD = − 1.31, 95% CI [− 2.07, − 0.56], p = 0.0006), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (SMD = − 1.81, 95% CI [− 3.11, − 0.51], p = 0.006). Subgroup analysis based on three subgroup variables (types of acupuncture and lifestyle interventions as well as treatment durations) could partially explain the heterogeneity of the results.Conclusion: Acupuncture demonstrated an enhancing effect on the benefits of lifestyle interventions for weight loss in patients with simple obesity, including reducing body weight and improving glucose and lipid metabolism. This finding suggests its potential value as a complementary therapy alongside lifestyle interventions in a clinical setting. This study aimed to investigate the impact of CMV infection on UC relapse and identify associated risk factors.Patients and Methods: This multicenter retrospective cohort study included UC patients who visited research centers from January 2016 to December 2020. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were conducted to explore risk factors for UC relapse. Propensity score matching was used to balance the differences in the clinical characteristics between the groups.Results: A total of 298 UC patients participated in this study, including 19 with CMV colitis, 37 with CMV viremia, and 242 CMV-negative patients. The 2-year cumulative recurrence rate was higher in patients with CMV colitis than that in CMV-negative patients (84.21% vs 51.65%, p = 0.01). Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses confirmed that fecal calprotectin ≥ 250 μg/g, Montreal classification E3, CMV colitis, duration > 48 months, and serum albumin < 30 g/L were independent risk factors for UC relapse at 2 years, whereas the use of biologics for induction of remission was identified as an independent protective factor.Conclusion: Our study suggests that the risk of relapse increases among UC patients with CMV colitis over two years. Risk factors for UC relapse at 2 years include fecal calprotectin ≥ 250 μg/g, Montreal classification E3, CMV colitis, UC duration > 48 months, and albumin < 30 g/L, whereas the use of biologics during induction is a protective factor.Plain Language Summary: Patients with ulcerative colitis and cytomegalovirus colitis are at a higher risk of relapse over a 2-year period than those who are CMV negative. Conventional therapies are limited, and often lead to high recurrence rates. The emerging concept of medicinal food homology has shed light on the potential of ginger as a therapeutic adjuvant for periodontitis, given its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. However, fresh ginger exhibits poor stability and bioavailability. Ginger exosome-like nanoparticles (GELNs), a derivative of ginger, have not been reported to exert therapeutic effects in periodontitis. This study aimed to explore the therapeutic effects of GELNs on tissue damage caused by periodontitis and their underlying mechanisms of action.Methods: The GELNs composition was analyzed using a widely targeted metabolome. Stability was assessed using nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) and zeta potential measurements, flavor was evaluated using an electronic nose, and membrane penetration was studied using confocal microscopy. A periodontitis model was established in SD rats, periodontal clinical indicators were monitored, and histological changes were assessed using H&E and TRAP staining. Co-culture experiments investigate the antioxidant and reparative abilities of GELNs on periodontal ligament fibroblasts (PDLFs) in inflammatory environment. NF-κB protein expression was examined by immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry.Results: The findings revealed that GELNs demonstrated good stability in different environments and mitigated the pungent taste of the raw ginger. In vivo experiments showed that GELNs improved periodontal clinical parameters and pathology compared with ginger juice. In vitro data suggested that GELNs enhanced the proliferation and migration of PDLFs while reducing the reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels by inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway in an inflammatory setting.Conclusion: This study is the first to demonstrate that GELNs have a potential therapeutic effect on periodontitis. GELNs can alleviate oxidative stress (OS) and inflammatory reactions by inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway. These findings provide a promising method for the treatment of periodontitis by regulating an unbalanced OS state. Owing to its abrupt onset, rapid progression, and high mortality rate, DIC presents a major clinical challenge. Anticoagulant drugs, such as heparin or low-molecular-weight heparin, are the current gold standard of treatment; however, these interventions pose considerable bleeding risks. Thus, safer and more effective therapeutic strategies are urgently required. Owing to their strong anti-inflammatory and tissue repair capabilities, mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-Exos) have gained considerable attention as novel therapeutic options for numerous disorders, including DIC. Their stability in diverse pathological states highlights their potential as promising candidates for DIC therapy. This review presents the latest insights on the pathogenesis of DIC and anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant properties of MSC-Exos. We aimed to elucidate the potential mechanisms by which MSC-Exos influence DIC pathogenesis. We speculate that MSC-Exos offer a multifaceted approach to DIC treatment by attenuating neutrophil extracellular trap formation, modulating M1/M2 macrophage polarization, altering Nrf2/NF-κB signalling pathway to downregulate pro-inflammatory factors, and correcting imbalances in the coagulation-fibrinolysis system through anticoagulant routes. This suggests that MSC-Exos are a potential paradigm in DIC therapy, offering novel targets and treatment modalities for DIC management. This study evaluates the therapeutic potential of Norisoboldine (NOR), an isoquinoline alkaloid from Lindera aggregata, in a rat model of RA.Methods: Rats were divided into five groups: normal control (G1), RA model (G2), NOR-treated groups at 15 mg/kg (G3) and 30 mg/kg (G4), and methotrexate-treated group (G5). NOR’s anti-arthritic effects were assessed by measuring clinical arthritis scores and inflammatory markers (RF, CRP, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10). Oxidative stress markers (MDA, SOD, catalase, GPx) and pathways (NF-κB/IKKβ and Nrf2/Keap1) were also evaluated. Histopathology assessed synovial inflammation and tissue degradation.Results: NOR treatment significantly reduced arthritis severity, as evidenced by decreased clinical arthritis scores and inflammatory markers in RA rats. NOR also exhibited strong antioxidant effects, demonstrated by decreased MDA levels and enhanced SOD, catalase, and GPx activities. NOR further downregulated matrix metalloproteinases (Mmp-2, Mmp-3), aggrecanases (Adamts-4, Adamts-5), and PCNA expression. Histopathology confirmed marked reductions in synovial inflammation and tissue damage in NOR-treated groups.Discussion: These findings suggest that NOR’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties contribute to reducing both inflammation and the overall severity of RA. Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) has also been proven an effective and safe treatment for HCC patients. This multi-center study is to compare the efficacy of computed tomography (CT)-guided RFA and CT-based SBRT in naïve HCC patients with tumor diameters ≤ 5 cm.Patients and Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 1001 treatment-naïve HCC patients from three hospitals or medical centers. The patients received RFA (n = 481) or SBRT (n = 520) treatment between December 2011 and May 2019. Furthermore, subgroup analyses of all patients were conducted based on Couinaud’s classification of liver segments.Results: After matching, the local control (LC) rates of the SBRT group were better than those of the RFA group (p=0.024&ast;), which mainly referred to the patients whose tumors were located in the S7/S8 (p=0.006&ast;). Among patients with tumors located in S1, nineteen patients (19/21) underwent SBRT. The 1-, 3- and 5-year LC rates were 100%, 87.8% and 87.8% in the SBRT group, and the 1-, 3- and 5-year OS rates were 100%, 69.8% and 69.8%, respectively. Moreover, the OS rates in S5/S6 group in RFA were higher than those in SBRT group.Conclusion: The LC rates were better in the SBRT group than in the RFA group for the patients with lesions localized in S7/S8, and SBRT could also be a therapeutic option for patients with lesions in S1. Although immune mediators play a vital role in endometriosis, their exact etiology remains elusive. Using Mendelian randomization (MR), this study aimed to assess the causal relationship between inflammatory proteins and endometriosis.Methods: Genetic variants associated with inflammatory proteins were filtered from a genome-wide protein quantitative trait locus study under stringent thresholds. These variants were used as instrumental variables (IVs) to evaluate the causal effects of these inflammatory proteins on endometriosis. A two-sample MR analysis was performed with endometriosis from the UK Biobank as the outcome, and a sensitivity analysis was performed to mitigate potential confounding factors. Analyses were replicated in an independent endometriosis cohort from the FinnGen, followed by a meta-analysis of MR results from both cohorts. Finally, we assessed the causality between inflammatory proteins and the endometriosis subtypes.Results: Independent MR analysis revealed that the genetically higher levels of CXCL5 were linked to a lower chance of having endometriosis. The causal link remained significant in the meta-analysis. Furthermore, the causality of CXCL5 expression has been identified in ovarian and pelvic peritoneal endometriosis.Conclusion: Our MR analysis indicated that CXCL5 was associated with a decreased risk of endometriosis, suggesting that CXCL5 might have a protective effect against endometriosis. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to investigate the potential risk factors of central apnea index (CAI).Results: Compared with the non-elderly group, patients in the elderly group had lower body mass index, a higher proportion of comorbidities of coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, and diabetes, lower apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), obstructive apnea index (OAI) and oxygen desaturation index (ODI). CAI of the elderly group showed a trend higher than that of the non-elderly group with no statistical difference. However, the ratio of CAI to AHI in the elderly group was significantly higher (0.264 vs 0.154, P=0.003). True CSA was less prevalent than companion CSA in both groups. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated CAI was independently associated with age (β=0.256, P=0.005), OAI (β=− 0.543, P< 0.001), MAI (β=− 0.267, P=0.005), ODI (β=0.538, P< 0.001), heart failure (β=0.300, P< 0.001).Conclusion: CSA typically coexists with other types of sleep apnea. Elderly CSA patients have characteristics such as a lower BMI, and a milder decrease in blood oxygen saturation, along with higher prevalence of arrhythmia and coronary heart disease. The multiparameter MRI model gave greater objectivity to avoid unnecessary biopsy.Case Presentation: A 60 year-old woman had a history of occasional right breast pain and a mass was identified in the right breast. A thickening in the upper quadrant of the right outer breast was found during physical examination but no mass was palpable. Breast dynamic contrast enhancement MRI and synthetic MRI were performed prior to ultrasound-guided biopsy of the right breast lesion. Resection of the right breast lesion and sentinel lymph node was performed 2 days later. Chronic inflammation, locally invasive ductal carcinoma and high-grade ductal carcinoma in situ were found by pathological examination.Discussion: Differentiation between benign and malignant breast IELs was facilitated by use of a multiparameter MRI model with DCE-MRI and syMRI, giving greater objectivity in differentiating between benign and malignant lesions.Keywords: breast cancer, intraductal carcinoma, magnetic resonance imaging

This study aims to explore the clinicopathological factors related to LNM in stages T3 and T4a LAGC, while also developing predictive nomograms.Methods: After systematic searching and rigorous screening, 1995 T3 and 1244 T4a LAGC cases who underwent surgery without neoadjuvant or perioperative chemotherapy were selected. The risk factors associated with LNM were identified using both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Subsequently, the independent variables identified through the multivariate analyses were utilized to construct a nomogram.Results: The incidence of LNM in T3 and T4a LAGC was 77.1% (1539/1995) and 83.8% (1043/1244), respectively. The following factors were found to be independently associated with LNM in T3 LAGC: preoperative serum albumin < 41g/L (P=0.007), gastrointestinal obstruction (P< 0.001), tumor location (P=0.040), tumor size > 4cm (P=0.002), mixed (P=0.001) and undifferentiated histological types (P=0.002), presence of lymphovascular invasion (LVI) (P< 0.001) and nerve invasion (P< 0.001). Additionally, in T4a LAGC cases, serum albumin < 39g/L (P=0.004), tumor size > 6cm (P=0.020), mixed (P< 0.001) and undifferentiated histological types (P< 0.001), presence of gastrointestinal hemorrhage (P=0.016), neuroendocrine differentiation (P=0.024), and LVI (P< 0.001) independently influenced the occurrence of LNM.Conclusion: This study identified the risk factors associated with LNM in T3-4a LAGC cases and constructed nomograms, thereby providing valuable guidance for formulating and implementing a multidisciplinary perioperative treatment program.Keywords: locally advanced gastric cancer, lymph node metastasis, clinicopathological factors, nomogram

The combination of low-intensity ultrasound with nanomedicine delivery systems holds promise as an alternative for the treatment for liver cancer. This study focuses on the utilization of folic acid (FA) modified nanoparticles, which are loaded with fluorescent dye DiR and liquid fluorocarbon (PFP). These nanoparticles have the potential to enhance liver cancer targeting under ultrasound stimulation and future applications in vivo.Methods: The pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of folic acid-modified Crebanine polyethylene glycol-polylactic acid copolymer nanoparticles (FA-Cre@PEG-PLGA NPs) were investigated. The pharmacokinetic parameters, liver targeting, and in vivo distribution were assessed. Additionally, the inhibitory impacts of FA-Cre@PEG-PLGA NPs in combination with ultrasonic irradiation on the proliferation and acute toxicity of H22 cells of mouse hepatoma were investigated in vitro. The tumor targeting and anti-tumor efficacy of FA-Cre@PEG-PLGA NPs were assessed utilizing a small animal in vivo imaging system and an in situ hepatocellular carcinoma transplantation model, respectively.Results: The pharmacokinetic studies and tissue distribution tests demonstrated that FA-Cre@PEG-PLGA NPs conspicuously prolonged the half-life and retention time of the drug in rats, and the liver targeting effect was pronounced. Additionally, the in vivo acute toxicity test indicated that FA-Cre@PEG-PLGA NPs had minimal adverse reactions and could fulfill the aim of attenuating the drug. The outcomes of the animal experiments further substantiated that FA-Cre@PEG-PLGA NPs had a longer retention time at the tumor site, a superior anti-tumor effect, and less damage to liver and kidney tissue.Conclusion: The integration of FA-Cre@PEG-PLGA NPs with ultrasound irradiation demonstrated exceptional safety and potent anti-tumor efficacy in vivo, presenting a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of liver cancer through the combination of ultrasound technology with a nanomedicine delivery system.Keywords: targeted drug delivery, pharmacokinetics, ultrasound irradiation, antitumor activity

Predictors were explored using univariate and logistic regression analysis. We compared the discrimination of inflammatory indice-based model 1 with models 2 and 3, which included image biomarkers, using the receiver operating characteristic curve and De Long test for area under the curve comparison.Results: A total of 205 eligible participants were included, 56 (27.3%) of whom experienced HE. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), black hole sign, BAT score, and computed tomography angiography (CTA) spot sign were independently associated with HE in the logistic regression (P< 0.05). The addition of non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) signs did not provide significant discrimination improvement (AUC, Model 2 0.875 [95% CI, 0.822– 0.929] versus Model 1. 0.811 [95% CI, 0.747– 0.875], p=0.089), whereas the added value of the CTA spot sign remained statistically significant (AUC, Model 3 0.922 [95% CI, 0.878– 0.966] versus Model 2; p=0.030; Model 3 versus Model 1, p=0.005).Conclusion: The combination of inflammatory and radiological biomarkers can predict HE with a satisfactory performance.Keywords: intracerebral hemorrhage, hematoma expansion, computed tomography angiography, spot sign, BAT score, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio

The primary outcome was the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) stay time, defined as the time from the end of the examination to scoring 9 points using the Modified Post-Anesthetic Discharge Scoring System (MPADSS) criteria. Secondary outcomes included sedation-related adverse events, recall, injection pain, as well as postoperative Quality of Recovery-15 (QoR-15) scores and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores at 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month postoperatively.Results: A total of 351 patients completed the study, with 174 receiving remimazolam and 177 receiving propofol. The PACU stay time in RF group was non-inferior to that in PF group [14 (11, 18) vs 13 (10, 17), mean difference 1 (95% confidence interval 0, 2), P=0.084 for noninferiority]. However, remimazolam was associated with lower rate of hypoxemia [4.7% (8/180) vs 12.4% (22/180), P=0.011], reduced use of vasoactive drugs [1 (0, 1) vs 1 (1, 2), P< 0.001], less injection pain [2 (1.2%) vs 35 (21.3%), P< 0.001], and lower recall [20 (11.8%) vs 36 (20.3%), P=0.034]. There were no differences in the QoR-15 scores and PSQI scores at postoperative 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month between groups.Conclusion: This non-inferiority study revealed that in elderly outpatients undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy, remimazolam achieved recovery times comparable to propofol, with fewer associated complications.Keywords: remimazolam, postoperative recovery, older patients, gastrointestinal endoscopy

But the independent and combined effects of them on mental health among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are uncertain.Methods: The independent and combined effects of education and living environment on mental health were assessed by binary logistic regression in 1064 COPD patients. Additive interaction was assessed with the relative excess risk ratio (RERI), attribution percentage (AP), and synergy index (SI).Results: Our results shown that low education level and urban living environment were independently associated with higher risks for anxiety (odds ratio [OR]: 1.56, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.06– 2.29 and OR:2.15, 95% CI 1.51– 2.05) or depression (OR:1.62, 95% CI 1.17– 2.27 and OR: 2.01, 95% CI 1.46– 2.75) among COPD patients. The combination effect of them was also associated with higher risks for anxiety (OR: 7.90, 95% CI 3.83– 16.29, P < 0.001) or depression (OR: 11.79, 95% CI 5.77– 24.10, P < 0.001) among these patients. Furthermore, we observed strong synergistic additive interactions between them for anxiety (SI: 11.57, 95% CI 1.41– 95.27; RERI: 6.31, 95% CI 1.60– 11.01; AP: 0.8, 95% CI 0.66– 0.94) and depression (SI: 31.31, 95% CI 1.59– 617.04; RERI: 10.44, 95% CI 2.66– 18.23; AP: 0.89, 95% CI 0.8– 0.97).Conclusion: Low education levels and living in urban areas had an independent and synergistic effects on mental health among COPD patients.Keywords: anxiety, China, COPD, depression, education, living environment

Clinical data were collected, including patient demographics, 24-hour laboratory indicators, and inflammation indices. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to compare outcomes before and after matching. Patients were randomized into training and validation sets (7:3) to develop and validate a clinical prediction model for infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN).Results: Among 421 patients, 79 had diabetes at admission. Before PSM, diabetic patients had higher incidences of peripancreatic fluid (71% vs 47%, p< 0.001) and IPN (48% vs 10%, p< 0.001), higher surgical intervention rates (24% vs 12%, p=0.008), and significant differences in abdominocentesis (22% vs 11%, p=0.014). After PSM, 174 patients were matched, and the diabetes group still showed higher incidences of peripancreatic fluid (69% vs 47%, p=0.008), IPN (48% vs 11%, p< 0.001), and surgical intervention rates (27% vs 13%, p=0.037). Diabetes, modified CT severity index (MCTSI), serum calcium, and HDL-c were identified as independent risk factors for IPN. The prediction model demonstrated good predictive value.Conclusion: In MSAP and SAP patients, diabetes mellitus can exert an influence on their clinical outcome and is an independent risk factor for IPN. The alignment diagram and web calculator constructed on the basis of diabetes mellitus, modified CT severity index (MCTSI), serum calcium and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) have good predictive value and clinical guidance for the occurrence of IPN in MSAP and SAP.Keywords: acute pancreatitis, diabetes, propensity score matching, predictive model

We aimed to investigate whether composite inflammatory markers, including neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), can serve as early predictors of short- and long-term outcomes in ischemic stroke patients with AF.Patients and Methods: Ischemic stroke patients with AF were enrolled in this cohort study. The primary outcome was 1-year functional dependence or death (modified Rankin scale (mRS) score 3– 6). Secondary outcomes included hemorrhagic transformation (HT) and early neurological deterioration (END, increase in the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) ≥ 4 within 7 days). Partial correlations were performed to assess the correlation between systemic inflammation markers and admission NIHSS scores. Univariate and multivariate logistic analyses were performed to investigate whether systemic inflammatory markers were independent predictors of adverse outcomes.Results: A total of 408 patients were included. Partial correlation analysis revealed statistically significant but weak correlations between the NLR (r = 0.287; P < 0.001), PLR (r = 0.158; P = 0.001) and admission NIHSS score. Compared with patients without HT or END, patients who developed HT or END had higher NLR and PLR, and lower LMR. Patients in the functional dependence or death group had significantly higher NLR and PLR, and lower LMR than those in the functional independence group (all P < 0.001). Multivariate logistic analysis indicated that NLR, LMR and PLR were independent predictors of HT (OR = 1.069, 0.814 and 1.003, respectively), END (OR = 1.100, 0.768 and 1.006, respectively) and adverse 1-year functional outcome (OR = 1.139, 0.760 and 1.005, respectively).Conclusion: NLR, LMR and PLR were independent predictors for in-hospital HT, END and long-term functional outcome in ischemic stroke patients with AF. Its association with insufficient sleep has been studied, yielding inconsistent findings. This review aims to assess the association of insufficient sleep with myopia and myopia-related refractive parameters in children. A total of 657 articles were identified, of which 40 were included in the systematic review and 33 were included in the meta-analysis. Results showed that insufficient sleep was significantly associated with an increased prevalence of myopia (odds ratio [OR] = 1.59; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.31, 1.95; I2 = 99%), and an increased prevalence of high myopia (OR = 3.36; 95% CI = 1.26, 9.00; I2 = 96%). Shorter sleep duration was significantly linked to faster changes in axial length (AL) (β = 0.05; 95% CI = 0.02, 0.08; I2 = 0%). However, correlation between insufficient sleep and the incidence of myopia, spherical equivalent refraction, corneal curvature radius (CR) and AL/CR were insignificant. Moreover, the effect of insufficient sleep on premyopia and astigmatism was not well-studied. The results of this study suggest that insufficient sleep may be an important risk factor for the development of myopia in school-aged children. Therefore, in addition to ensuring sufficient outdoor activities and reducing near work, it is necessary to inform children and parents about the importance of adequate sleep to mitigate the risk of myopia.Keywords: insufficient sleep, myopia, children, axial length, refractive parameters

This study aims to assess and compare the effectiveness of CI and RFA in treating SFJ and SIJ pain. We combine these treatments due to their shared pathophysiology, similar therapeutic interventions, and the necessity for an integrated approach to spinal pain management.Patients and methods: Literature search from PubMed, Scopus, CENTRAL and Google Scholar for published studies upto 31st December 2023, and reporting data of patients who were treated using CI of RFA for SFJ and SIJ pain. Pooled standardized mean difference (SMD) with a 95% Confidence Interval (CI) was calculated.Results: Our meta-analysis incorporated thirteen studies. Overall, patients, treated with CI had a higher pain intensity score compared to patients treated with RFA (SMD=0.92; 95% CI: 0.19 to 1.65) at 3 months, and at 6 months (SMD=1.53; 95% CI: 0.66 to 2.40) after the treatment. No significant association was reported at 12 months (SMD=1.47; 95% CI: − 0.03 to 2.97). Subgroup analysis based on joint types revealed increased pain intensity scores in patients who were treated with CI for SIJ (SMD=1.25; 95% CI: 0.39 to 2.11) and SFJ (SMD=1.33; 95% CI: 0.09 to 2.57) pain. A negative but not significant effect was detected in patients, treated with CI for cervical joint pain (SMD=− 0.40; 95% CI: − 0.90 to 0.10). Patients treated with CI exhibited higher functional disability score compared to patients treated with RFA at 3 months (SMD=1.28; 95% CI: 0.20 to 2.35) post-treatment.Conclusion: This study suggests that RFA may offer superior pain relief with longer duration compared to steroid injections for spinal facet and sacroiliac joint pain. Abstract

We present Near-Infrared (NIR) ground-based Y, J, H, and K imaging obtained in the James Webb Space Telescope North Ecliptic Pole Time Domain Field (TDF) using the MMT-Magellan Infrared Imager and Spectrometer (MMIRS) on the MMT.These new observations cover a field of approximately 230 arcmin^2 in Y, H, and K and 313 arcmin^2 in J. Using Monte Carlo simulations we estimate a 1 sigma depth relative to the background sky of (Y, J, H, K}) = (23.80, 23.53, 23.13, 23.28) in AB magnitudes for point sources at a 95% completeness level. These observations are part of the ground-based effort to characterize this region of the sky, supplementing space-based data obtained with Chandra, NuSTAR, XMM, AstroSat, HST, and JWST. This paper describes the observations and reduction of the NIR imaging and combines these NIR data with archival imaging in the visible, obtained with the Subaru Hyper-Suprime-Cam, to produce a merged catalog of 57,501 sources. The new observations reported here, plus the corresponding multi-wavelength catalog, will provide a baseline for time-domain studies of bright sources in the TDF., Comment: 23 pages, 10 figures. Abstract

We report an updated measurement of the $\nu_{\mu}$-induced, and the first measurement of the $\bar{\nu}_{\mu}$-induced coherent charged pion production cross section on $^{12}C$ nuclei in the T2K experiment. This is measured in a restricted region of the final-state phase space for which $p_{\mu,\pi} > 0.2$ GeV, $\cos(\theta_{\mu}) > 0.8$ and $\cos(\theta_{\pi}) > 0.6$, and at a mean (anti)neutrino energy of 0.85 GeV using the T2K near detector. The measured $\nu_{\mu}$ CC coherent pion production flux-averaged cross section on $^{12}C$ is $(2.98 \pm 0.37 (stat.) \pm 0.31 (syst.) \substack{ +0.49 \\ -0.00 } \mathrm{ (Q^2\,model)}) \times 10^{-40}~\mathrm{cm}^{2}$. The new measurement of the $\bar{\nu}_{\mu}$-induced cross section on $^{12}{C}$ is $(3.05 \pm 0.71 (stat.) \pm 0.39 (syst.) \substack{ +0.74 \\ -0.00 } \mathrm{(Q^2\,model)}) \times 10^{-40}~\mathrm{cm}^{2}$. The results are compatible with both the NEUT 5.4.0 Berger-Sehgal (2009) and GENIE 2.8.0 Rein-Sehgal (2007) model predictions.

Abstract

In recent years, moir\'e lattice has become a hot topic and inspired the research upsurge of moir\'e lattice. In this work, we propose a method of constructing a multi-composite moir\'e lattice, which is composed of over three periodic component structures. Moreover, we propose the moir\'e lattice-metasurface structure, which can realize the multi-wavelength interface states between these kinds of moir\'e lattices and metasurfaces. The wavelength, polarization, and number of moir\'e interface states can be manipulated flexibly, with anisotropic metasurfaces. These multi-wavelength interface states are employed to enhance quantum emission (QE) and over 20 times QE efficiency can be obtained., Comment: 26 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

Gravitational-wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) is a space-borne instrument dedicated to monitoring high-energy transients, including Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes (TGFs) and Terrestrial Electron Beams (TEBs). We implemented a TGF/TEB search algorithm for GECAM, with which 147 bright TGFs, 2 typical TEBs and 2 special TEB-like events are identified during an effective observation time of $\sim$9 months. We show that, with gamma-ray and charged particle detectors, GECAM can effectively identify and distinguish TGFs and TEBs, and measure their temporal and spectral properties in detail. A very high TGF-lightning association rate of $\sim$80\% is obtained between GECAM and GLD360 in east Asia region., Comment: The paper was accepted by Geophysical Research Letters on June 16th, 2023
