The valveless micropump based on dual synthetic jets is a potential fluid pumping device that has the ability to transport fluid continuously. In order to improve the performance of this device, a novel valveless continuous micropump based on dual synthetic jets with a Tesla structure was proposed by combining a double Tesla symmetrical nozzle and a dual synthetic jets actuator. The mechanism of the novel micropump and its flow field characteristics were analyzed, combined with numerical simulation and a PIV experiment. The performance of the novel micropump was compared with that of a dual synthetic jet micropump based on a traditional shrinking nozzle. The novel micropump achieved continuous flow with a larger and more stable flow rate in one cycle. The maximum pump flow speed reached 12 m/s. Compared with the traditional type, the pump flow rate was increased by 5.27% and the pump flow pulsation was reduced by 214.93%. The backflow and vortex inside the nozzle were prevented and inhibited effectively by the Tesla structure. The velocity and influence range of the pump flow increased with the intensification of driving voltage in a certain range. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To improve the speed of motion estimation in multi-view video coding system,a fast motion estimation algo-rithm based on Markov chain model was proposed.This algorithm established a predicted motion vector set by making full use of the correlation between the motion vectors of frames and views.According to the transition probabilities of Markov chain model,test of the predicted motion vector are performed in advance.Then finish fast motion estimation by the early elimination conditions.Experimental results demonstrate that this algorithm is able to improve the speed by av-erage 99% and the PSNR decrease by average 0.16dB in motion estimation process compared with full search algorithm in the multi-view video sequences.There is a significant improvement in the motion estimation using this algorithm for multi-view video coding.

A scalable video coding schemes based db2 lifting wavelet was described. A new method that using the db2 lifting wavelet to implement the MCTF was proposed. Based on the classification of the pixel, different formulation to compute high-pass frame and low-pass frame was given. The experimental results indicate that, in the scalable video coding system based on db2 wavelet, the video quality of fully reconstructed sequences and reconstructed sequences after being extracted are improved distinctly compared with the scalable video coding system based on Haar wavelet.

Aim: The search for prognostic biomarkers and the construction of a prognostic risk model for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) based on N7-methyladenosine (m7G) methylation regulators. Methods: HCC transcriptomic data and clinical data were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas database and Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, respectively. m7G methylation regulators were extracted, differential expression analysis was performed using the R software "limma" package, and one-way Cox regression analysis was used to screen for prognostic associations of m7G regulators. Using multi-factor Cox regression analysis, a prognostic risk model for HCC was constructed. Each patient's risk score was calculated using the model, and patients were divided into high- and low-risk groups according to the median risk score. Cox regression analysis was used to verify the validity of the model in the prognostic assessment of HCC in conjunction with clinicopathological characteristics. Results: The prognostic model was built using the seven genes, namely, CYFIP1, EIF4E2, EIF4G3, GEMIN5, NCBP2, NUDT10, and WDR4. The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed poorer 5-years overall survival in the high-risk group compared with the low-risk group, and the receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve suggested good model prediction (area under the curve AUC = 0.775, 0.820, and 0.839 at 1, 3, and 5 years). The Cox regression analysis included model risk scores and clinicopathological characteristics, and the results showed that a high-risk score was the only independent risk factor for the prognosis of patients with HCC. Objectives: To investigate the underlying mechanism of age related increase of pulmonary fibrosis incidence, Methods: The levels of pulmonary collagen and TGF-beta1 protein, MMP2,9 mRNA and TIMP 1,2,3 mRNA expression were measured by ELISA and realtime PCR., Results: As compared with adult rats [(756 +/- 160) pg/g vs (1 000 +/- 246) pg/g, P<0.05] the aged rats had more extracellular matrix components, increased TGF-beta1 protein level, lower (3.15 +/- 1.76 vs 0.17 +/- 0.13, P<0.01) MMP2 mRNA expression and TIMP 1,2,3 mRNA expressions (TIMP1 2.00 +/- 1.74 vs 0.11 +/- 0.06,TIMP2 7.60 +/- 2.51 vs 2.69 +/- 1.76, TIMP3 1.32 +/- 0.46 vs 0.29 +/- 0.16, P<0.01). No difference was observed in MMP9 (1.66 +/- 0.67 vs 1.74 +/- 0.87, P>0.05) mRNA expression., Conclusion: elevation in TGF-beta1 protein level, changes in the expression of MMP2/9 and decreased expression of TIMPS mRNA could be the underlying mechanism of age related increase of pulmonary incidence.

Objective: To observe the efficiency of both the APACHE II/III scoring systems in predicting the prognosis of patients older than 75 years., Methods: We calculated both the APACHE II and III scores in patients older than 75 years who were admitted to the geriatric intensive care unit (GICU) of our hospital in a duration of 6 months. The scores and predicting death rates were compared with the actual death rates., Results: There was definite correlation between the APACHE II/III scores and the actual death rates. Sensitivity of the APACHE II/III systems are 66.7% and 41.7% respectively. Specificity of the APACHE II/III systems are 90.9% and 100% respectively., Conclusions: Both the APACHE II/III systems can do well in predicting the prognosis of ICU patients older than 75 years, but APACHE III tends to underestimate the hospital death rate of elderly patients.
