ObjectiveVast quantities of literature regarding the applications of exercise therapy for sarcopenia have been published. The main objective of this study is to determine the top 100 most-cited articles and analyze their bibliometric characteristics.DesignThis study reports a bibliometric analysis via a systematic search of the academic literature regarding the applications of exercise therapy for sarcopenia.MethodsAll databases in the Web of Science were searched with the following strategy: term search (TS) = (exercise* OR training OR “physical activit*”) AND TS = (sarcopenia) on 25 February 2022. The results were presented in descending order by their total citations. The list of the top 100 articles was finally determined by negotiation of two independent researchers.ResultsThe top 100 articles were published between 1993 and 2020. More than half of the articles (n = 54) were published during the decade 2006–2015. Total citations of the top 100 articles ranged from 155 to 1,131 with a median of 211.5. The average of annual citations was constantly increasing with year (P < 0.05). The most studied exercise therapy is strength/resistance training, with about 71% articles had discussed about it. The top 100 articles were from 54 different journals, and the Journal of Applied Physiology was the journal that contributed the most articles (n = 8). A total of 75 different first corresponding authors from 15 countries made contributions to the top 100 list. Luc J.C. van Loon from the Maastricht University in the Netherlands published the most articles (n = 5) as the first corresponding author. Most articles (87%) were from North America (58%) and Europe (29%), while the United States as a country contributed over half of the articles (51%).ConclusionOur study determined the top 100 most-cited articles on exercise therapy for sarcopenia and analyzed their bibliometric characteristics, which may provide a recommended list for researchers in this field and pave the way for further research.

A study is carried out on the electron field emission properties, photoluminescence, and structure of porous silicon emitters as a function of the anodizing voltages. Details of the morphological features such as sharp nanometer-scale tip geometries, or micrometer-scale asperities, and large hexagon like porosity are discussed.

In optical sensor networks, the adversary can inject false reports and old packets, both of which can cause false alarms and drain out the limited energy of the network. Existing security mechanisms can detect and filter out only false reports but not the old packets during forwarding. Furthermore, they cannot resist cooperative attacks. A MAC and one-way function based Filtering Scheme (MOFS) was presented. Each node distributes its key and initial hash value to some other nodes after deployment. A data report must carry the MACs and fresh hash values from t detecting nodes. The forwarding nodes check the logicality of the relative position of the detecting nodes carried in the report, the correctness of the MACs and hash values, and the freshness of these hash values. Analysis and simulation results show that MOFS can not only filter false reports and old packets simultaneously, but also performs well on compromise toleration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

lthough I-UdR treatment of malignant tumors in animal models and patients has achieved a certain effect, the short half-life of I-UdR in vivo and its cellular uptake only in S phase of the cell cycle are limiting factors with regard to tumor eradication, and therefore its combination with other applications is a promising strategy in cancer therapy. In this study, we show that I-UdR radionuclide therapy in combination with Egr-1 promoter-based IFNγ gene therapy is more effective than I-UdR therapy alone in suppressing tumor growth and extending survival duration in mice bearing H22 hepatomas. Combined therapy could significantly inhibit cell proliferation and tumor angiogenesis, induce apoptosis and enhance cytotoxic activities of splenic CTL of the mice. Our results suggest that I-UdR in combination with Egr-1 promoter-based IFNγ gene therapy may provide novel approaches for cancer treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To study the dynamic changes of serum CK, CK-MB and myocardium histomorphology in different time periods after single bout and repeated exhausted exercise in rats., Methods: The animal models of myocardial injury were established by exhausted swimming. Creatine kinase (CK), creatine kinase mass (CK-MB) activities in serum were measured immediately at 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 96 hours after exhausted exercise, and the dynamic changes of myocardial histopathology were examined., Results: The CK, CK-MB activities were significantly increased immediately at 3, 6, 12 hours and peaked at 6 hours after single bout of exhausted exercise, meantime the degree of inflammatory cell infiltrate and strong acidophil staining were gradually increased in myocardium of rat, and the myocardial injury was most severe at 12 hours. After 1-week consecutive daily exhausted swimming, CK, CK-MB in serum were obviously increased immediately at, 3, 6, 12, 48 and 96 hours postexercise and peaked immediately and at 96 hours respectively postexercise. There were different degrees of myocardial injury in different time of recovery phase, and was most severe at 48 hours postexercise., Conclusion: The myocardial injury was induced by excessive exercise and/or exhausted exercise, and the resulting delayed-onset myocardial injury was further certified.
