Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between protein SUMOylation level and the prognosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC) in males. Methods Protein SUMOylation levels in PTC was analyzed by bioinformatics based on GTEx and TCGA databases and validated by immunohistochemical staining and Western blotting in our clinical pairs specimens. The mRNA expression of the protein SUMOylation associated genes were measured by fluorescent quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) in surgical pairs specimens. Abstract

In this study, a facile in situ sintering method has been proposed for fabricating high strength lightweight mullite whisker network reinforced proppants. The effect of TiO2 on the microstructure, properties and fracture behaviours of the mullite whisker network was researched in detail. The addition of TiO2 promoted the formation of a modified mullite whisker network structure, which effectively improved the flexural strength. The sample containing 4 wt.% TiO2 exhibited an excellent flexural strength of 215.25MPa and low bulk density of 1.53 g/cm3 at 1400 °C. The TiO2-added mullite whiskers mostly exhibited rod-like crystals with about 0.5- 0.8 μm in diameter and 10-15 μm in length. The as-prepared ceramic proppant showed excellent properties, such as low breakage ratio (2.19%under 52MPa), low density (1.36 g/cm3) and low acid solubility (2.28 wt.%).

Abstract

In order to improve the sensing performance of wearable sensor, broaden its application range and reduce its preparation cost, copper nanowires (Cu NWs) ink was prepared by hydrothermal method, silver nanowire (Ag NWs) ink was prepared by polyol method, and cotton textiles were successively dipped into Cu NWs ink and Ag NWs ink to prepare Cu NWs/Ag NWs/cotton textile sensor. The effect of the concentration of Ag NWs on the electrical and hydrophobic properties of the sensor was studied, and the micro-morphology of Cu NWs/Ag NWs/cotton fabric and the performance of the sensor were optimized by adjusting the impregnation-drying times. The results show that the Cu NWs/Ag NWs/cotton textile sensor has excellent hydrophobicity, and its water contact angle is up to 147°; The increase of Ag NWs concentration is beneficial to improve the conductivity of Cu NWs/Ag NWs/cotton textiles, but has little effect on their hydrophobicity; and when dipped three times, Cu NWs/Ag NWs/cotton textiles form a stable and excellent conductive network inside. The sensor has the best performance. Its sensitivity is up to 5.64 kPa-1, the detection range is 1.5~20 kPa, and the response recovery time is 300 and 200 ms respectively. It also shows regular current response to smile, fist, touch and other behaviors. The experiments show that the sensor has a good application prospect of health monitoring and underwater motion detection.

(1) Background: Small ubiquitin-like modifiers (SUMOs) are pivotal in post-translational modifications, influencing various cellular processes, such as protein localization, stability, and genome integrity. (2) Methods: This review explores the SUMO family, including its isoforms and catalytic cycle, highlighting their significance in regulating key biological functions in thyroid cancer. We discuss the multifaceted roles of SUMOylation in DNA repair mechanisms, protein stability, and the modulation of receptor activities, particularly in the context of thyroid cancer. (3) Results: The aberrant SUMOylation machinery contributes to tumorigenesis through altered gene expression and immune evasion mechanisms. Furthermore, we examine the therapeutic potential of targeting SUMOylation pathways in thyroid cancer treatment, emphasizing the need for further research to develop effective SUMOylation inhibitors. 35. Visible Light-Driven Organic Pollutant Removal Using Fe-Based Photocatalysts Supported by Wheat Straw Biochar

Abstract

Researchers are actively pursuing the development of highly functional photocatalyst materials using environmentally friendly and sustainable resources. In this study, wheat straw biochar (BC), a by-product of biomass pyrolysis, was explored as a green, porous substrate and a carbon-based sensitizer to activate Fe-based photocatalysts under visible light. The research also delved into the impact of doping copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), and zinc (Zn) to enhance the photocatalytic activity of BC-Fe-based catalysts for the removal of methylene orange (MO) from water. Characterization results revealed a more than twofold increase in surface area and greater porosity, contributing to improved radical generation. BC demonstrated its dual functionality as a high surface area substrate and an electron sink, facilitating multistep electron movement and enhancing the photoactivity of the composite catalyst. Photodegradation experiments indicated that the combination of BC with Fe and Zn exhibited the highest performance, removing over 80% of MO within 120 min. Parametric studies highlighted the preference for an alkali pH, and the photocatalyst demonstrated efficient performance up to 30 ppm of dye. Radical scavenging experiments identified •OH and h+ as the most generated radicals. This study establishes that the green and sustainable BC holds promise as a material in the quest for more sustainable photocatalysts.
