2. Coping strategies mediate the relationship between fear of cancer recurrence and quality of life in postoperative patients with prostate cancer: a multicentre survey

Abstract Purpose The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationships between fear of cancer recurrence and quality of life in patients with prostate cancer. A model based on Lazarus’ and Folkman’s theory tested the specific hypothesis: fear of cancer recurrence has a direct and indirect effect on quality of life mediated by coping strategies. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on 305 patients with prostate cancer who underwent radical surgery, including demographic information, FoP-Q-SF (Fear of Progression Questionnaire), MCMQ (The Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire), QLQ-C30 (Questionnaire for Quality of Life Assessment in patients with cancer, version 3.0), and a mediator model was tested using the PROCESS macro for SPSS. Results The total FoP-Q-SF score of 305 postoperative prostate cancer patients was 34.3 ± 5.856, with approximately 41.6% of the patients scoring higher than 34. There were significant indirect effects of fear of cancer recurrence on global health status through face [a1b1; 0.0394, Boot CIs 0.0025, 0.0819] and yield [a3b3; -0.1075, Boots CIs − 0.1657, -0.0557] but not for evasive [a2b2; 0.0235; Boots CIs − 0.057, 0.0508]. Conclusions Coping strategies are the most important mediating factors between fear of cancer recurrence and QOL among patients with prostate cancer. Our results support the proposed conceptual model, based on Lazarus’ and Folkman’s theory. Medical personnel need to develop corresponding intervention measures based on the different coping methods of patients, promote disease recovery, and improve postoperative quality of life.

3. Impact of green financing on CSR and environmental policies and procedures

Despite increasing global attention towards sustainable development, the empirical linkage between green financing and the enhancement of environmental and social governance (ESG) practices within industries remains underexplored. This study investigates the influence of green financing on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and environmental policies and procedures in 40 Chinese industries from 2010 to 2020. By employing a baseline regression and a difference-in-differences methodology, this paper aims to quantify the extent to which green financing initiatives have impacted CSR activities and the adoption of rigorous environmental policies and procedures in the Chinese industrial sector. The results indicate that industries with access to green financing have shown significant improvements in their CSR engagements and the stringency of their environmental policies and procedures compared to those without such financial incentives. Specifically, the difference-in-differences analysis reveals a positive and statistically significant effect of green financing on the adoption of more stringent environmental policies and the enhancement of CSR practices. We identify the specific areas within CSR and environmental policies that are most influenced by green financing. We assess the effectiveness of green financing as a tool for promoting sustainable industrial practices. The analysis utilizes a comprehensive dataset, including industry-specific financing and ESG performance indicators, to conduct a longitudinal assessment over the decade in question. Based on these findings, the study concludes with a policy implication that emphasizes the critical role of green financing as a catalyst for improving CSR and environmental standards in industries. It suggests that policymakers and financial institutions should consider expanding green financing mechanisms to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable industrial practices.

4. Evidence from China's shipping sector on the impact of fiscal measures in enabling a low-carbon economic transition

The Green Economy Initiative aims to achieve economic development while minimizing carbon emissions by implementing a low-carbon economy across all sectors. It is noteworthy that ships play a significant role in global commodity transportation, accounting for approximately 80–90 percent. However, this also leads to a surge in fossil fuel consumption and alarming pollution levels. The data utilized in this article spans from 2010 to 2022 and specifically focuses on the shipping industry, drawing from information collected in 20 different provinces of China. Multiple panel regression models were constructed to analyze the influence of fiscal policies on facilitating the transition toward a low-carbon economy. In addition, a vector autoregression model was employed to examine the interconnected dynamics between low-carbon transition and budgetary guidelines. The findings indicate that tax-based policies demonstrate an inverted U-shaped relationship with low-carbon transition, whereas transfer payment policies exhibit an N-shaped pattern. The shipping sector is actively embracing low-carbon practices, largely due to incorporating digital technologies that mitigate the adverse impacts of fiscal regulations.

5. Design on a Hybrid Drive Feeding Mechanism of High-speed Industrial Sewing Machine

Aiming at the defects of the traditional feeding mechanism, such as complex structure, low adjustment accuracy and poor flexibility, a flexible hybrid drive feeding mechanism is proposed. In this study, the closed vector method is used to analyze the kinematics of the hybrid drive feeding mechanism, and the functional relationship between the tooth trajectory and the rotation angles of the drive motors is derived. The rotation angles of the drive motor are planned by functions, and the influence of each coefficient in the rotation angle functions on the tooth trajectory is analyzed in detail. The optimization strategies of flexible adjustment of tooth trajectory are also proposed for several practical sewing scenarios. What's more, the load on the tooth is analyzed during the feeding process, as well as the dynamic characteristics of the drive motors under the extreme working conditions by establishing the dynamic simulation model of the hybrid drive feeding mechanism. By using high-speed video equipment and graphic recognition analysis software, the tooth trajectory of the hybrid drive feeding mechanism is tracked and calibrated, and the test results are consistent with the theoretical calculation results. The hybrid drive feeding mechanism has the advantages of simple structure, reliable operation and flexible adjustment, which deeply meets the current production needs of less people, automation and intelligence.

6. 4-PBA inhibits endoplasmic reticulum stress to improve autophagic flux in the treatment of protamine/lipopolysaccharide-induced interstitial cystitis in rats

Abstract Interstitial cystitis (IC) has severe clinical symptoms with unclear mechanism. The continuous inflammatory response of the bladder is the basis of its pathogenesis. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is involved in the regulation and development of various inflammatory diseases. And autophagy plays an important role in IC. In this study, we mainly focus on the therapeutic effect of endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy on protamine/lipopolysaccharide-induced interstitial cystitis. Female Sprague–Dawley rats were randomized into three experimental groups as follows: sham controls(N), IC alone, and IC+4-PBA.Rats in group IC received 10 mg/ml PS in the urinary bladder, followed by 2 mg/ml LPS instillation after 30 min, IC+4-PBA group SD rats received 4-PBA solution administered intragastrically once a day for 5 days. ERS biomarker (GRP78), autophagy-related proteins (LC3I/II, and Beclin1), autophagic flux biomarker (P62), inflammatory biomarkers (IL-6, TNF-a, NF-κB), apoptotic biomarkers (Caspase 3, Bax) were highest in the IC group compared to IC+4-PBA group and N group and the biomarkers expression in IC+4-PBA group were lower than in the IC group, anti-apoptotic biomarker (Bcl-2) was highest in the N group compared to the IC group and IC+4-PBA group and lower in the IC group than in the IC+4-PBA group, oxidative stress biomarkers (HO-1, NQO-1) were remarkably lower in the control group than in the IC and IC+4-PBA groups and notably lower in the IC group than in the IC+4-PBA group. The histological score and mast cell count demonstrated most severe in the IC group than those in the IC+4-PBA group. TUNEL assay examined the level of apoptosis in IC group was higher than in the IC+4-PBA group. The bladder micturition function was significantly improved with 4-PBA treatment. 4-PBA inhibits ERS to recover autophagic flux, and then to suppress the bladder oxidative stress, the inflammatory reaction and apoptosis, finally improve the bladder urinary function in Protamine/Lipopolysaccharide (PS/LPS) induced IC.

Abstract Airborne SARS‐CoV‐2 virus surveillance faces challenges in complicated biomarker enrichment, interferences from various non‐specific matters and extremely low viral load in the urban ambient air, leading to difficulties in detecting SARS‐CoV‐2 bioaerosols. This work reports a highly specific bioanalysis platform, with an exceptionally low limit‐of‐detection (≤1 copy m−3) and good analytical accordance with RT‐qPCR, relying on surface‐mediated electrochemical signaling and enzyme‐assisted signal amplification, enabling gene and signal amplification for accurate identification and quantitation of low doses human coronavirus 229E (HCoV‐229E) and SARS‐CoV‐2 viruses in urban ambient air. This work provides a laboratory test using cultivated coronavirus to simulate the airborne spread of SARS‐CoV‐2, and validate that the platform could reliably detect airborne coronavirus and reveal the transmission characteristics. This bioassay conducts the quantitation of real‐world HCoV‐229E and SARS‐CoV‐2 in airborne particulate matters collected from road‐side and residential areas in Bern and Zurich (Switzerland) and Wuhan (China), with resultant concentrations verified by RT‐qPCR.

9. The Impact of New infrastructure Construction on Optimization and Upgrading of Industrial Structure

Industrial optimization is needed as China’s economy moves toward high-quality growth. The construction of new infrastructure, driven by new development concepts and patterns, facilitates industrial optimization. This study aims to explore the impact and mechanisms of new infrastructure construction on industrial structure optimization. The index of industrial structure upgrading and the pace of industrial transformation were calculated using panel data from 266 prefecture-level cities, which spanned from 2011 to 2018. This study uses two-way fixed effects and mediation effect methodologies to experimentally investigate the impact of new infrastructure construction on the optimization of industrial structure, while also considering possible endogeneity concerns. We found that new infrastructure building promotes industrial transformation and urban industrial structure upgrading. These results pass robustness and endogeneity testing. However, the impact of new infrastructure construction on industrial structure upgrading varies across cities. There is a significant driving effect in economically larger cities with better traditional infrastructure, and those in the eastern region. Smaller cities and those with inferior infrastructure have less impact. New infrastructure construction optimizes urban industrial structures through technological innovation and professional agglomeration, according to mediation effect study. Diversified agglomeration does not significantly upgrade industrial structures. The limitations of our model include the fact that the data does not describe industrial structural dynamics and it does not apply on other geographic scales. We illuminate the intricate connection between new infrastructure and industry upgrading by including city heterogeneity and the mediating impacts of technical innovation and professional clustering.

10. The Green Effects of Industrial Policy—Evidence from China’s New Energy Vehicle Subsidies

The development of new energy vehicles has become a common choice for countries worldwide to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the global ecological environment, with China being no exception. However, challenges, such as finding charging stations, accessing residential areas, and highway charging, have hindered the green and high-quality growth of the new energy vehicle industry. This study, set against the backdrop of China’s 2018 policy to gradually redirect local purchase subsidy funds for new energy vehicles towards supporting the construction and operation of charging infrastructure, utilizes panel data from 282 prefecture-level cities from 2016 to 2021. A difference-in-differences model is constructed to compare the impact of infrastructure development on carbon emissions before and after the policy’s implementation. The study finds that policy has a negative effect on carbon emissions, especially in the second and third year after the policy’s implementation. Even after controlling for variables such as residents’ wealth levels, population size, environmental pollution, energy consumption, and government support, the results remain significant. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that the effect of the promotion of charging infrastructure on carbon emissions is greater in southern and central parts of China.

11. Lithospheric dripping in a soft collision zone: Insights from late Paleozoic magmatism suites of the eastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt

The closure of Paleo-Asian Ocean is considered to have occurred along the Solonker Suture in the southernmost segment of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB), the largest Phanerozoic accretionary orogen on the globe. The suture branches to the east to form the northern Hegenshan–Heihe Suture and the southern Solonker–Changchun Suture. The Hegenshan–Heihe Suture is an ideal natural laboratory for studying the post-collisional geodynamic processes operating in a soft collision zone driven by divergent double-sided subduction. Here we report results from an integrated study of the petrology, geochronology, geochemistry, and Sr–Nd–Hf isotopic compositions of the Early Carboniferous–Early Permian magmatic suite in the Hailar Basin of the Xing’an–Erguna Block. The Early Carboniferous igneous rocks are represented by 356–349 Ma andesitic tuffs, exhibiting typical subduction-related features, such as enrichment in large-ion lithophile elements and depletion in high-field-strength elements. These features, together with the relatively depleted Sr–Nd–Hf isotopic compositions, constant Nb/Y values, but highly variable Rb/Y and Ba values indicate that these rocks were generated by partial melting of a depleted mantle wedge metasomatized by slab-derived fluids. The Late Carboniferous–Early Permian magmatic suite (317–295 Ma) is characterized by high Sr contents (313–1080 ppm) and low Y contents (5–13 ppm), and these can be subdivided into calc-alkaline adakitic rocks and high-K calc-alkaline adakitic rocks. The calc-alkaline adakitic rocks have higher values of Sr/Y, (Sm/Yb)source normalized, and Mg#, and lower values of Y, Ybsource normalized, and K2O/Na2O than the high-K calc-alkaline adakitic rocks, which suggests that the former was generated by partial melting of foundered lower continental crust and the latter by partial melting of normal lower continental crust. Based on our new data, in conjunction with those in previous studies, we conclude that the tectonic evolution of the Hegenshan–Heihe Suture involved Early Carboniferous double-sided subduction of the Nenjiang Ocean, latest Early Carboniferous soft collision between the Xing’an–Erguna and Songliao blocks, and Late Carboniferous–Early Permian post-collisional extension. We also propose a new geodynamic scenario in which removal of the lithospheric root might have occurred in a soft collision zone during the post-collision period via repeated and localized lithospheric dripping, which results from combined effects of hydration weakening of the lithosphere caused by pre-collision subduction and asthenospheric stirring triggered by slab break-off.

Stable isotope ratios of carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen act as “nature’s recorder”. As a carrier for individual human information, human hair can be measured by isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) to translate into information about people’s dietary habits, health condition and life track. The basic principle behind establishing dietary lifestyle using isotopic profiles of human hair is the fact that the body’s only source of C, N is a person’s staple diet. It may have significant differences in carbon, nitrogen isotopic compositions of human hair that are living at different regions. The aim of the study was to analyze the discrepancy of 15N and 13C stable isotope ratios in human hair collected from different cities, and explore the relationship between carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios and human groups, such as gender and age. The carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios in the human hair of 247 local residents from 8 different cities were investigated by IRMS. The results showed that there were significant difference in carbon and nitrogen stable isotope ratios of human hair from different cities. The value of δ13C was negatively correlated with vegetable consumption per capita. The value of δ15N was positively correlated with meat consumption per capita, and might be increased by high intake of fish. The relationship between δ13C, δ15N and the factors of gender and age demonstrated that there were no significant difference between males and females, but the age of females showed a weakly negative correlation with δ13C. By comparing the data of this paper and other literatures, the carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes in the hair of residents in China were different from other countries, which implied that there were various dietary habits in different countries.

Abstract Background Hip involved secondary to ankylosis spondylitis (AS) had a huge influence on hip function. Cementless total hip arthroplasty (THA) can improve hip function. However, no previous study compared the outcomes of THA for AS patients with three different degrees of hip involvement. Methods The 195 hips were retrospectively analyzed and divided into non-ankylosed group (group A, 94 hips), fibrous ankylosed group (group B, 49 hips), and bony ankylosed group (group C, 52 hips). postoperative range of motion (ROM), harris hip scores (HHS), the short-form 12 health survey (SF-12), length of stay (LOS), cost, radiological assessments, and complications were compared. 14. Bivalirudin Presents a Favorable Safety Profile Regarding Adverse Drug Reactions, Thrombocytopenia, and Bleeding in Chinese Patients With High Bleeding Risk Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Prospective, Multi-Center, Intensive Monitoring Study

BackgroundThis study aimed to comprehensively explore the occurrence and risk factors for adverse events (AEs) and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) (especially for thrombocytopenia and bleeding) in Chinese patients with high bleeding risk (older adults, or complicated with diabetes mellitus or renal function impairment) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with bivalirudin as an anticoagulant.MethodsA total of 1,226 patients with high bleeding risk who received PCI with bivalirudin as an anticoagulant from 27 Chinese medical centers were enrolled in this prospective, multi-center, intensive monitoring study. AEs, ADRs, thrombocytopenia, and bleeding were collected from admission to 72 h post-bivalirudin administration; subsequently, patients were followed up on the 30th day with the safety data collected as well.ResultsAdverse events were observed in 198 (16.2) patients, among which severe AEs occurred in 16 (1.3%) patients. Meanwhile, bivalirudin-related ADRs were reported in 66 (5.4%) patients, among which 5 (0.4%) patients experienced bivalirudin-related severe ADRs. Besides, thrombocytopenia and bleeding occurred in 45 (3.7%) and 19 (1.5%) patients, respectively. The subsequent multivariate logistic analysis revealed that age >75 years [p = 0.017, odds ratio (OR) = 1.856] and spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) (p = 0.030, OR = 2.022) were independently related to higher ADR risk; SCAD (p = 0.017, OR = 2.426) was independently correlated with higher thrombocytopenia risk, while radial artery access (p = 0.015, OR = 0.352) was independently correlated with lower thrombocytopenia risk; and the administration of bivalirudin preoperatively or intraoperatively (p = 0.013, OR = 5.097) was independently associated with higher bleeding risk.ConclusionBivalirudin presents a favorable safety profile regarding ADRs, thrombocytopenia, and bleeding in Chinese patients with high bleeding risk undergoing PCI.

15. SARS-CoV-2 and other airborne respiratory viruses in outdoor aerosols in three Swiss cities before and during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic

Caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been affecting the world since the end of 2019. While virus-laden particles have been commonly detected and studied in the aerosol samples from indoor healthcare settings, studies are scarce on air surveillance of the virus in outdoor non-healthcare environments, including the correlations between SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory viruses, between viruses and environmental factors, and between viruses and human behavior changes due to the public health measures against COVID-19. Therefore, in this study, we collected airborne particulate matter (PM) samples from November 2019 to April 2020 in Bern, Lugano, and Zurich. Among 14 detected viruses, influenza A, HCoV-NL63, HCoV-HKU1, and HCoV-229E were abundant in air. SARS-CoV-2 and enterovirus were moderately common, while the remaining viruses occurred only in low concentrations. SARS-CoV-2 was detected in PM10 (PM below 10 µm) samples of Bern and Zurich, and PM2.5 (PM below 2.5 µm) samples of Bern which exhibited a concentration positively correlated with the local COVID-19 case number. The concentration was also correlated with the concentration of enterovirus which raised the concern of coinfection. The estimated COVID-19 infection risks of an hour exposure at these two sites were generally low but still cannot be neglected. Our study demonstrated the potential functionality of outdoor air surveillance of airborne respiratory viruses, especially at transportation hubs and traffic arteries.

Image-based refined 3D reconstruction relies on high-resolution and multi-angle images of scenes. The assistance of multi-rotor drones and gimbal provides great convenience for image acquisition. However, capturing images with manual control generally takes a long time. It could easily lead to redundant or insufficient local area coverage, resulting in poor quality of the reconstructed model. We propose a surface geometric primitive-guided UAV path planning method (SGP-G) that aims to automatically and quickly plan a collision-free path to capture fewer images, based on which high-quality models can be obtained. The geometric primitives are extracted by plane segmentation on the proxy, which performs three main functions. First, a more representative evaluation of the reconstructability of the whole scene is realized. Second, two optimization strategies for different geometric primitives are executed to quickly generate a near-global optimized set of viewpoints. Third, regularly arranged viewpoints are generated to improve the efficiency of image acquisition. Experiments on virtual and real scenes demonstrate the remarkable performance of our method. Compared with the state of the art, we accomplish the planning of the photographic path with higher efficiency in a relatively simple way, achieving equivalent and even higher quality of the reconstructed model with fewer images.

BackgroundBivalirudin is a common anticoagulant during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI); however, since its application in China, it still lacks comprehensive evaluation of adverse events (AEs) or adverse drug reactions (ADRs) under the real-clinical setting conditions with a large-sample-size population. Therefore, this prospective, multi-center, intensive monitoring study aimed to comprehensively investigate the occurrence and risk factors of AEs and ADRs during PCI with bivalirudin as an anticoagulant.MethodsA total of 3,049 patients who underwent PCI with bivalirudin as anticoagulant from 27 Chinese medical centers were enrolled. Safety data (AEs/ADRs) were collected from hospital admission to 72 h after bivalirudin administration; then, patients were followed up at the 30th day with the safety data collected as well.ResultsA total of 414 (13.58%) patients occurred AEs, among which 31 (1.02%) cases suffered from severe AEs and 8 (0.26%) cases died due to AEs. Importantly, 118 (3.87%) patients occurred bivalirudin related ADRs, among which 7 (0.23%) cases suffered from severe ADRs while no case (0%) died due to ADRs. Of note, 7 (0.23%) patients showed new ADRs, 34 (1.12%) patients experienced bleeding, and 79 (2.59%) patients had thrombocytopenia. Furthermore, age, renal function impairment, CRUSADE high risk stratification independently correlated with total ADRs risk; CRUSADE high risk stratification, emergency operation, full dose bivalirudin independently associated with bleeding risk; age, renal function impairment independently related to thrombocytopenia risk.ConclusionBivalirudin is well-tolerated as an anticoagulant for PCI procedure; meanwhile, older age, renal function impairment, and CRUSADE high risk stratification serve as independent risk factors of bivalirudin related ADRs.

18. Generation of Nb-enriched mafic rocks and associated adakitic rocks from the southeastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt: Evidence of crust-mantle interaction

Melting of subducting oceanic lithosphere and associated melt-mantle interactions in convergent plate margins require specific geodynamic environment that allows the oceanic slab to be abnormally heated. Here we focus on the Early Mesozoic mafic rocks and granite porphyry, which provide insights into slab melting processes associated with final closure of the Paleo-Asian Ocean. The granite porphyry samples are calc-alkaline and distinguished by high Sr contents, strong depletion of heavy rare earth elements, resulting in high (La/Yb)N and Sr/Y ratios, and negligible Eu anomalies. Based on their high Na2O and MgO, low K2O contents, positive εHf(t) and εNd(t) and low (87Sr/86Sr)i values, we propose that the granite porphyry was likely derived from partial melting of subducting Paleo-Asian oceanic crust. The Nb-enriched mafic rocks are enriched in Rb, Th, U, Pb and K, and depleted in Nb, Ta, Ba, P and Ti, corroborating a subduction-related origin. Their heterogeneous Sr-Nd-Hf-O isotopic compositions and other geochemical features suggest that they were likely derived from partial melting of peridotitic mantle wedge interacted with oceanic slab-derived adakitic melts. Trace element and isotope modeling results and elevated zircon δ18O values suggest variable subducting sediments input into the mantle wedge, dominated by terrigenous sediments. Synthesizing the widely-developed bimodal rock associations, conjugated dikes, thermal metamorphism, tectonic characteristics, paleomagnetic constraints, and paleogeographical evidence along the Solonke-Changchun suture zone, we identify a slab window triggered by slab break-off, which accounts for slab melting and formation of the Nb-enriched mafic rocks and associated adakitic granite porphyry in southeastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt.

Objective To investigate the effect of FK506 binding protein 12.6 (FKBP12.6) knockout on detrusor overactivity (DO) in mice and explore the possible mechanism. Methods Mouse models of DO were established by partial bladder outlet obstruction (PBOO) in 30 wild-type mice (WT) and 30 homozygote FKBP12.6 knockout mice (KO group). All the mice were 8-10 weeks old and female. The morphology of the detrusor was observed using HE staining, and void spots and urodynamic test were used to assess the changes in the symptom of frequent urinary and the bladder pressure, respectively. Visceromotor responses (VMRs) and bladder smooth muscle electrical activity in the filling stage were recorded to assess the bladder response to pressure. Spontaneous contraction of the detrusor strips was tested to evaluate the sensitivity of the detrusor to tension, and the expression of ryanodine receptor 2 (RyR2) was detected using Western blotting. Results FKBP12.6 knockout did not cause obvious changes in detrusor morphology, but aggravated the symptom of frequent urination in the mice. Compared with WT mice, the mice in KO group showed a significantly increased micturition frequency (43.500±19.164 vs 22.000±14.717 every 3 h, P < 0.05) with aggravated DO, significantly increased fluctuation frequency of bladder pressure during the urine storage period (13.900±5.430 vs 8.000±3.232 per 30 min, P < 0.05), and significantly increased sensitivity of the detrusors to tension (3.200±0.648 vs 1.200±0.245, P < 0.01). RyR2 expression in the detrusors decreased significantly in FKBP12.6 knockout mice as compared with the WT mice (0.154±0.106 vs 1.000±0.444, P < 0.01). Conclusion FKBP12.6 knockout results in aggravation of DO in mouse models possibly by down-regulation of RyR2 in the detrusors

20. Recycling of crustal materials and implications for lithospheric thinning: Evidence from Mesozoic volcanic rocks in the Hailar–Tamtsag Basin, NE China

Late Mesozoic Nb-rich basaltic andesites and high-Mg adakitic volcanic rocks from the Hailar–Tamtsag Basin, northeast China, provide important insights into the recycling processes of crustal materials and their role in late Mesozoic lithospheric thinning. The Late Jurassic Nb-rich basaltic andesites (154 ± 4 Ma) are enriched in large-ion lithophile and light rare earth elements, slightly depleted in high-field-strength elements, and have high TiO2, P2O5, and Nb contents, and (Nb/Th)PM and Nb/U ratios, which together with the relatively depleted Sr–Nd–Hf isotopic compositions indicate a derivation from a mantle wedge metasomatized by hydrous melts from subducted oceanic crust. The Early Cretaceous high-Mg adakitic volcanic rocks (129–117 Ma) are characterized by low Y and heavy rare earth element contents, and high Sr contents and Sr/Y ratios, similar to those of rocks derived from partial melting of an eclogitic source. They also have high Rb/Sr, K2O/Na2O, and Mg# values, and high MgO, Cr, and Ni contents. These geochemical features suggest that the adakitic lavas were derived from partial melting of delaminated lower continental crust, followed by interaction of the resulting melts with mantle material during their ascent. Our data, along with available geological, paleomagnetic, and geophysical evidence, lead us to propose that recycling of Paleo-Pacific oceanic crustal materials into the upper mantle due to flat-slab subduction and rollback of the Paleo-Pacific Plate during the late Mesozoic likely provided the precondition for lithospheric thinning in northeast China, with consequent lithospheric delamination causing recycling of continental crustal materials and further lithospheric thinning.

21. Do Artificial Intelligence Applications Affect Carbon Emission Performance?—Evidence from Panel Data Analysis of Chinese Cities

A growing number of countries worldwide have committed to achieving net zero emissions targets by around mid-century since the Paris Agreement. As the world’s greatest carbon emitter and the largest developing economy, China has also set clear targets for carbon peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. Carbon-reduction AI applications promote the green economy. However, there is no comprehensive explanation of how AI affects carbon emissions. Based on panel data for 270 Chinese cities from 2011 to 2017, this study uses the Bartik method to quantify data on manufacturing firms and robots in China and demonstrates the effect of AI on carbon emissions. The results of the study indicate that (1) artificial intelligence has a significant inhibitory effect on carbon emission intensity; (2) the carbon emission reduction effect of AI is more significant in super- and megacities, large cities, and cities with better infrastructure and advanced technology, whereas it is not significant in small and medium cities, and cities with poor infrastructure and low technology level; (3) artificial intelligence reduces carbon emissions through optimizing industrial structure, enhancing information infrastructure, and improving green technology innovation. In order to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality as quickly as possible during economic development, China should make greater efforts to apply AI in production and life, infrastructure construction, energy conservation, and emission reduction, particularly in developed cities.

22. Case Report: Novel SAVI-Causing Variants in STING1 Expand the Clinical Disease Spectrum and Suggest a Refined Model of STING Activation

Gain-of-function mutations in STING1 cause the monogenic interferonopathy, SAVI, which presents with early-onset systemic inflammation, cold-induced vasculopathy and/or interstitial lung disease. We identified 5 patients (3 kindreds) with predominantly peripheral vascular disease who harbor 3 novel STING1 variants, p.H72N, p.F153V, and p.G158A. The latter two were predicted by a previous cryo-EM structure model to cause STING autoactivation. The p.H72N variant in exon 3, however, is the first SAVI-causing variant in the transmembrane linker region. Mutations of p.H72 into either charged residues or hydrophobic residues all led to dramatic loss of cGAMP response, while amino acid changes to residues with polar side chains were able to maintain the wild type status. Structural modeling of these novel mutations suggests a reconciled model of STING activation, which indicates that STING dimers can oligomerize in both open and closed states which would obliviate a high-energy 180° rotation of the ligand-binding head for STING activation, thus refining existing models of STING activation. Quantitative comparison showed that an overall lower autoactivating potential of the disease-causing mutations was associated with less severe lung disease, more severe peripheral vascular disease and the absence of a robust interferon signature in whole blood. Our findings are important in understanding genotype-phenotype correlation, designing targeted STING inhibitors and in dissecting differentially activated pathways downstream of different STING mutations.

23. Analysis of factors affecting first serum prostate specific antigen level after radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer

Objective To analyze the factors affecting postoperative first serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) level at 6 weeks in patients receiving radical prostatectomy (RP) for prostate cancer. Methods The clinicopathological data were collected retrospectively from 251 patients undergoing RP for prostate cancer in our department between January, 2014 and May, 2018. According to postoperative first serum PSA levels at 6-8 weeks for assessing biochemical recurrence (with 0.2 ng/mL as the cut-off PSA level), the patients were divided into PSA < 0.2 ng/mL group and PSA≥0.2 ng/mL group, and univariate analysis and multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the factors affecting first serum PSA level after RP. Results The two groups of patients with prostate cancer showed significant differences in BMI, history of preoperative electric resection, preoperative PSA level, postoperative Gleason score, pathological T staging, lymph node dissection, and the number of dissected lymph nodes (P < 0.05). The results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that BMI, preoperative PSA level, postoperative Gleason score and pathological T staging were all independent risk factors affecting postoperative first serum PSA level. In the 153 patients with lymph node dissection, BMI, preoperative PSA level, postoperative Gleason score, pathological T staging, lymph node positivity and the number of positive lymph nodes differed significantly between the patients with postoperative PSA level < 0.2 ng/mL at 6 weeks and those with higher PSA levels (P < 0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that preoperative PSA level and lymph node positivity were independent risk factors that affected the postoperative first serum PSA level. Conclusion BMI, preoperative PSA level, postoperative Gleason score and pathologic T staging are all independent risk factors affecting the postoperative first serum PSA level in prostate cancer patients; In patients with lymph node dissection, preoperative PSA level and lymph node positivity are independent risk factors affecting the postoperative first serum PSA level.

24. Robot-assisted retroperitoneal partial nephrectomy for partial nephrectomy: an analysis of 118 cases

Objective To analyze the clinical data of the patients undergoing robot-assisted retroperitoneal partial nephrectomy (RARPN) and investigate the surgical points and advantages of the surgery. Methods Clinical data of 118 patients undergoing RARPN in our department from June 2011 to June 2018 were collected and retrospectively analyzed in this study. Their age, body mass index (BMI), R.E.N.A.L. score, operation time, warm ischemia time, amount of blood loss, length of hospital stay, postoperative complications, and data during follow-up were analyzed statistically. Results The operation was successfully completed in all 118 patients. The operation time was 127.6±34.5 min, warm ischemia time 19.8±5.1 min, amount of bleeding 97.3±67.3 mL, postoperative drainage time 2.7±0.6 d, intestinal exhaust time 1.9±0.7 d, and length of hospital stay 6.0±0.9 d. The operation time and warm ischemia time were significantly shorter in T1a stage patients than T1b stage patients (P < 0.05). The operation time was obviously shorter in the BMI < 24 kg/m2 group than those with BMI≥24 kg/m2 (P < 0.05). Only 1 case (0.8%) experienced postoperative complication. During follow-up of 3 months to 5 years, pulmonary metastasis occurred in 1 patient. Conclusion The retroperitoneal approach is a good indication for partial nephrectomy, and T1a stage tumor is a good indication for RARPN. For obese patients (BMI > 24 kg/m2), removal of perinephric fat is also a good way to complete the surgery.

Human activities have increased greenhouse gas emissions since the Industrial Revolution, and “emission peaking” and “carbon neutrality” have become serious concerns at this point. The role of information infrastructure in reducing carbon emissions is a critical issue that has received little attention and needs to be addressed. Using panel data from 289 cities in China between 2011 and 2017, this research empirically explores the impact of information infrastructure on urban carbon emission intensity and the mechanism behind this effect. We discover that the construction of information infrastructure significantly reduces urban carbon emissions, and this finding holds true after a series of robustness tests. The mechanism is optimization of industrial structure, agglomeration of producer service industries, and innovation of green technologies. According to the heterogeneity test, the carbon emission reduction is greater in mega cities with higher technological levels and larger urban scales, as well as large cities with better traditional infrastructure. The present work’s findings give empirical support for promoting green and low-carbon development and mitigating global warming.

With the development and improvement of modern surveying and remote-sensing technology, data in the fields of surveying and remote sensing have grown rapidly. Due to the characteristics of large-scale, heterogeneous and diverse surveys and the loose organization of surveying and remote-sensing data, effectively obtaining information and knowledge from data can be difficult. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of using ontology for heterogeneous data integration. Based on the heterogeneous, decentralized, and dynamic updates of large surveying and remote-sensing data, this paper constructs a knowledge graph for surveying and remote-sensing applications. First, data are extracted. Second, using the ontology editing tool Protégé, a knowledge graph mode level is constructed. Then, using a relational database, data are stored, and a D2RQ tool maps the data from the mode level’s ontology to the data layer. Then, using the D2RQ tool, a SPARQL protocol and resource description framework query language (SPARQL) endpoint service is used to describe functions such as query and reasoning of the knowledge graph. The graph database is then used to display the knowledge graph. Finally, the knowledge graph is used to describe the correlation between the fields of surveying and remote sensing.

Comprehensive and objective assessment and research on investment-climate geopolitical strategy of the countries in the “Belt and Road” zone would help improve security and stability of China’s foreign economic and trade exchanges along with its political and economic influence. Based on Delphi technique, the investment environment evaluation system of the “Belt and Road” countries has been developed and used to comprehensively analyze social and economic development, traffic infrastructure, informatization, resources, and political and security environment, all of which are the important conditions for investment environment of the “Belt and Road” countries. The results show that Russia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Central Asia, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, and Hungary represent the attractive investment areas. Eastern Europe, India, and Iran represent the key investment areas. Based on the analysis, investment strategy steps for the “Belt and Road” countries have been formulated. We hope our research can provide the scientific foundation for decision-making in China in relation to the “Belt and Road” foreign investment strategy.

The experiment and simulation investigations on out-plane compressive characteristics of FRP sandwich panel were conducted. The results show that two deformation stages are elastic deformation and fracture stages in out-plane compressive deformation. The yielding mode deformation as t1/h which is very big,while the buckling mode deformation as t1/h which is very small. The part 2 in the honeycomb core is main bearing part for sandwich panel,and the part 2 is supported by the part 1 and part 3 in the honeycomb core,while the honeycomb core is supported by the panel. So,the cell wall thickness of part 2 has the most significant influence on the compressive strength,and the influence by the cell wall side length of honeycomb core is the secondary,while the influence by the cell wall thickness of part 1 and part 3 in honeycomb core and the thickness of panel is the weakest. When the honeycomb core height is fixed,the compressive strength of FRP sandwich panel gradually increases along with honeycomb core layers increase.

Straight cylindrical stethoscopes serve as an important alternative to conventional stethoscopes whose application in the treatment of infectious diseases might be limited by the use of protective clothing. Yet their miniaturization is challenging due to the low-frequency of bioacoustics signal. Here, we design and experimentally implement a meta-stethoscope with subwavelength size, simple fabrication, easy assembly yet high sensitivity, which simply comprises multiple round perforated plate units and a cylindrical shell. We elucidate our proposed mechanism by analytically deriving the frequency response equation, which proves that the equivalent acoustic propagation path is substantially increased by the high-index metamaterial, enabling downscaling of the meta-stethoscope to subwavelength footprint. The acoustic performance of meta-stethoscope is experimentally characterized by monitoring the cardiac auscultation on clothed human body. The simulated and measured results agree well, with both showing the expected enhancement of sensitivity of our proposed meta-stethoscope (~ 10 dB) within the predicted working frequency range from 80 to 130 Hz despite its compactness and simplicity. Our designed portable, detachable yet effective meta-stethoscope opens a route to metamaterial-enabled stethoscope paradigm, with potential applications in diverse scenarios such as medical diagnosis and acoustic sensing., Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures

32. Fecal Source Tracking in A Wastewater Treatment and Reclamation System Using Multiple Waterborne Gastroenteritis Viruses

Gastroenteritis viruses in wastewater reclamation systems can pose a major threat to public health. In this study, multiple gastroenteritis viruses were detected from wastewater to estimate the viral contamination sources in a wastewater treatment and reclamation system installed in a suburb of Xi’an city, China. Reverse transcription plus nested or semi-nested PCR, followed by sequencing and phylogenetic analysis, were used for detection and genotyping of noroviruses and rotaviruses. As a result, 91.7% (22/24) of raw sewage samples, 70.8% (17/24) of the wastewater samples treated by anaerobic/anoxic/oxic (A2O) process and 62.5% (15/24) of lake water samples were positive for at least one of target gastroenteritis viruses while all samples collected from membrane bioreactor effluent after free chlorine disinfection were negative. Sequence analyses of the PCR products revealed that epidemiologically minor strains of norovirus GI (GI/14) and GII (GII/13) were frequently detected in the system. Considering virus concentration in the disinfected MBR effluent which is used as the source of lake water is below the detection limit, these results indicate that artificial lake may be contaminated from sources other than the wastewater reclamation system, which may include aerosols, and there is a possible norovirus infection risk by exposure through reclaimed water usage and by onshore winds transporting aerosols containing norovirus.

Abstract.: Many epidemiological studies have strongly suggested an inverse correlation between dietary polyphenol consumption and reduced risks of cardiovascular diseases. Yellow rice wine is a Chinese specialty and one of the three most ancient wines in the world (Shaoxing rice wine, beer, and grape wine). There is a large amount of polyphenol substances in yellow rice wine. This experiment was designed to study the potential beneficial effects of yellow wine polyphenolic compounds (YWPC) from yellow rice wine on progression of atherosclerosis in vivo and to further explore its underlying mechanisms. Six-week-old male LDL-receptor–knockout mice were treated with high-fat diet to establish the mouse model with atherosclerosis. Animals received 10, 30, or50 mg/kg per day of YWPC or 10 mg/kg per day rosuvastatin or water (vehicle) for 14 weeks. The results indicated that YWPC and rosuvastatin significantly decreased circulating total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Compared to the control group, the atherosclerosis lesion area in the rosuvastatin-intervention group and YWPC at doses of 10, 30, and 50 mg/kg per day intervention groups decreased by 74.14%, 18.51%, 40.09%, and 38.42%, respectively. YWPC and rosuvastatin decreased the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-2, 9, whereas the expression of the endogenous inhibitors of these proteins, namely, tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMP)-1, 2, increased when compared to the control group. It can be concluded that the YWPC is similar to the benefic effects of rosuvastatin on cardiovascular system. These effects may be attributed to their anti-atherosclerotic actions by lowering lipid and modulating the activity and expression of MMP-2, 9 and TIMP-1, 2. The intelligent inspection of power lines and other difficult-to-access structures and facilities has been greatly enhanced by the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), which allow inspection in a safe, efficient, and high-quality fashion. This paper analyzes the characteristics of a scene containing power equipment and the operation mode of UAVs. A low-cost virtual scene is created, and a training sample for the power-line components is generated quickly. Taking a vibration-damper as the main object, an assembled detector based on geometrical constraint (ADGC) is proposed and is used to analyze the virtual dataset. The geometric positional relationship is used as the constraint, and the Faster Region with Convolutional Neural Network (R-CNN), Deformable Part Model (DPM), and Haar cascade classifiers are combined, which allows the features of different classifiers, such as contour, shape, and texture to be fully used. By combining the characteristics of virtual data and real data using UAV images, the power components are detected by the ADGC. The result produced by the detector with relatively good performance can help expand the training set and achieve a better detection model. Moreover, this method can be smoothly transferred to other power-line facilities and other power-line scenarios.

This paper presents a quantum-behaved neurodynamic swarm optimization approach to solve the nonconvex optimization problems with inequality constraints. Firstly, the general constrained optimization problem is addressed and a high-performance feedback neural network for solving convex nonlinear programming problems is introduced. The convergence of the proposed neural network is also proved. Then, combined with the quantum-behaved particle swarm method, a quantum-behaved neurodynamic swarm optimization (QNSO) approach is presented. Finally, the performance of the proposed QNSO algorithm is evaluated through two function tests and three applications including the hollow transmission shaft, heat exchangers and crank−rocker mechanism. Numerical simulations are also provided to verify the advantages of our method.

VLS (Vehicle-borne Laser Scanning) can easily scan the road surface in the close range with high density. UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) can capture a wider range of ground images. Due to the complementary features of platforms of VLS and UAV, combining the two methods becomes a more effective method of data acquisition. In this paper, a non-rigid method for the aerotriangulation of UAV images assisted by a vehicle-borne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) point cloud is proposed, which greatly reduces the number of control points and improves the automation. We convert the LiDAR point cloud-assisted aerotriangulation into a registration problem between two point clouds, which does not require complicated feature extraction and match between point cloud and images. Compared with the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm, this method can address the non-rigid image distortion with a more rigorous adjustment model and a higher accuracy of aerotriangulation. The experimental results show that the constraint of the LiDAR point cloud ensures the high accuracy of the aerotriangulation, even in the absence of control points. The root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the checkpoints on the x, y, and z axes are 0.118 m, 0.163 m, and 0.084m, respectively, which verifies the reliability of the proposed method. As a necessary condition for joint mapping, the research based on VLS and UAV images in uncontrolled circumstances will greatly improve the efficiency of joint mapping and reduce its cost.

39. Understanding the Functionality of Human Activity Hotspots from Their Scaling Pattern Using Trajectory Data

Human activity hotspots are the clusters of activity locations in space and time, and a better understanding of their functionality would be useful for urban land use planning and transportation. In this article, using trajectory data, we aim to infer the functionality of human activity hotspots from their scaling pattern in a reliable way. Specifically, a large number of stopping locations are extracted from trajectory data, which are then aggregated into activity hotspots. Activity hotspots are found to display scaling patterns in terms of the sublinear scaling relationships between the number of stopping locations and the number of points of interest (POIs), which indicates economies of scale of human interactions with urban land use. Importantly, this scaling pattern remains stable over time. This finding inspires us to devise an allometric ruler to identify the activity hotspots, whose functionality could be reliably estimated using the stopping locations. Thereafter, a novel Bayesian inference model is proposed to infer their urban functionality, which examines the spatial and temporal information of stopping locations covering 75 days. Experimental results suggest that the functionality of identified activity hotspots are reliably inferred by stopping locations, such as the railway station.

When detecting a target over the diurnal cycle, a conventional infrared thermal sensor might lose the target due to the thermal crossover, which could happen at any time throughout the day when the infrared image contrast between target and background in a scene is indistinguishable due to the temperature variation. In this paper, the benefits of using a multispectral-based infrared sensor over the diurnal cycle have been shown. Firstly, a brief theoretical analysis on how the thermal crossover influences a conventional thermal sensor, within the conditions where the thermal crossover would happen and why the mid-infrared (3~5 μm) multispectral technology is effective, is presented. Furthermore, the effectiveness of this technology is also described and we describe how the prototype design and multispectral technology is employed to help solve the thermal crossover detection problem. Thirdly, several targets are set up outside and imaged in the field experiment over a 24-h period. The experimental results show that the multispectral infrared imaging system can enhance the contrast of the detected images and effectively solve the failure of the conventional infrared sensor during the diurnal cycle, which is of great significance for infrared surveillance applications.

A nonlocal circulator protocol is proposed in hybrid optomechanical system. By analogy with quantum communication, using the input-output relationship, we establish the quantum channel between two optical modes with long-range. The three body nonlocal interaction between the cavity and the two oscillators is obtained by eliminating the optomechanical cavity mode and verifying the Bell-CHSH inequality of continuous variables. By introducing the phase accumulation between cyclic interactions, the unidirectional transmission of quantum state between optical mode and two mechanical modes are achieved. The results show that nonreciprocal transmissions are achieved as long as the accumulated phase reaches a certain value. In addition, the effective interaction parameters in our system are amplified, which reduces the difficulty of the implementation of our protocol. Our research can provide potential applications for nonlocal manipulation and transmission control of quantum platforms.
