Primary liver cancer (PLC) is a major contributor to cancer-related deaths. Data on global and country-specific levels and trends of PLC are essential for understanding the effects of this disease and helping policymakers to allocate resources.To investigate the association between the burden of PLC and socioeconomic development status.Cancer mortality and incidence rates were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2019, and the data were stratified by country and territory, sex, and the Socio-demographic Index (SDI) level. The association between the attributable etiology of PLC and socioeconomic development status, represented using the SDI, was described. The attributable etiology of PLC included hepatitis B, hepatitis C, alcohol use, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. The association between the attributable etiology of PLC and SDI was further stratified by sex and geographical location. A confidence analysis was also performed based on bootstrap draw.The age-standardized incidence rate of PLC was 6.5 [95% confidence intervals (CI): 5.9-7.2] per 100000 person-years, which decreased by -27.5% (-37.0 to -16.6) from 1990 to 2019. Several countries located in East Asia, South Asia, West Africa, and North Africa shouldered the heaviest burden of PLC in 2019. In terms of incidence rates, the first leading underlying cause of PLC identified was hepatitis B, followed by hepatitis C, alcohol use, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Regarding stratification using the SDI, the incidence rate of PLC was the highest for high and middle SDI locations. Further, the leading attributable etiologies of PLC were hepatitis B for the middle and high middle SDI locations while hepatitis C and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis for the high SDI locations.The pronounced association between socioeconomic development status and PLC burden indicates socioeconomic development status affects attributable etiologies for PLC. GBD 2019 data are valuable for policymakers implementing PLC cost-effective interventions.

While covalent KRAS G12C inhibitors have demonstrated encouraging clinical efficacy in patients with KRAS G12C mutation, the overall response rate and progression-free survival appear to be suboptimal. Achieving deeper and more durable responses in these patients remain as major challenges. Preclinical and clinical translation research highlights adaptive feedback reactivation of the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK signaling cascade as key molecular mechanisms driving primary and acquired resistance to KRAS G12C inhibitors. Concurrent inhibition of KRAS G12C and downstream MAPK pathway is thus an attractive combination strategy to improve clinical outcomes for KRAS G12C-mutant population. D3S-002 is a potent and selective kinase inhibitor targeting ERK1/2, the final node of the RAS-MAPK pathway and the central mediator of the feedback activation loop. To investigate the combination effect of D3S-002 with KRAS G12C inhibitor D3S-001, this study utilized multiple preclinical in vivo models including cancer cell line-derived xenograft (CDX) tumors that are sensitive to, or primarily resistant to KRAS G12C inhibitors, and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) tumors that have progressed on KRAS G12C inhibitor treatment in the clinic. In NCI-H358 NSCLC and SW837 CRC models that are sensitive to KRAS G12C inhibitor monotherapy, adding D3S-002 to D3S-001 or to D3S-001 and cetuximab doublet regimen led to faster, deeper, and more durable anti-tumor responses at dose levels that are well tolerated in mice with no body weight loss observed. In NCI-H2122 NSCLC model that is primarily resistant to KRAS G12C inhibitor alone, the addition of D3S-002 resulted in near complete tumor growth inhibition. Furthermore, CR9537 PDX model was established from tumor biopsy of a CRC patient who had progressed on combination treatment of KRAS G12C inhibitor MRTX849 and a SHP2 inhibitor in a clinical trial. Next generation sequencing (NGS) analysis identified secondary KRAS Q61H mutation as an acquired resistance mechanism. In this PDX model, KRAS G12C inhibitor, D3S-001 or MRTX849, monotherapy only achieved approximately 50% tumor growth inhibition, highlighting the acquired resistant phenotype. Adding D3S-002 to D3S-001 or MRTX849 resulted in over 80% tumor growth inhibition and significantly prolonged survival, suggesting the combination treatment can be beneficial for KRAS G12C inhibitor pre-treated patient population. Collectively, vertical inhibition by concurrently targeting KRAS G12C and ERK1/2 with respective inhibitor D3S-001 and D3S-002 demonstrated enhanced anti-tumor activity in NSCLC and CRC models with different sensitivity to KRAS G12C inhibitor monotherapy. These results provide a strong rationale for further investigation of the combination strategy of D3S-001 and D3S-002 in KRAS G12C-mutant solid tumors in the clinic. In this paper, a frequency reconfigurable antenna was presented. This antenna is made up of a square loop and a microstrip line with a gap, in which the few layer graphene (FLG) sheet is located to achieve frequency reconfigurable. FLG is likes a lumped resistor with resistance. And the surface impedance can be adjusted by applying a direct current bias voltage, which obtains two work modes that imitate switch. Additionally, the experimental evidence show the proposed frequency reconfigurable antenna can provide a tunable bandwidth.

Purpose: To compare the dosimetric effects of American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) TG43 dose formalism and AcurosBV ( grid-based Boltzmann solver ,GBBS) formalism on High-dose-rate(HDR) brachytherapy planning for cervical cancer patients irradiated using three different applicators.Methods: A TG43 plan and a AcurosBV plan were generated for each of the 30 patients. twenty patients who had undergone whole pelvic radiotherapy followed by cervical HDR brachytherapy and the remaining 10 patients who underwent total hysterectomy only gave HDR brachytherapy also were enrolled in this study. The patients were divided into three groups according to the types of applicators used: tandem and ovoid (T&O), tandem and ring (T&R), and Cylinder. To compare the dosimetric parameters, the cumulative dose-volume histograms (DVHs) were measured. We also compared the doses at 90% of the volume (D90%) , the volume receiving 100% and 150% of the prescribed dose (V100% and V150%) for the clinical target volume (CTV-HR) and the doses of point A, the dose receiving 0.1 cc and 2 cc of the volume (D0.1cc and D2cc) for the organs-at-risk (OARs).Results: In this study, compared with the AcurosBV plans, TG43 plans predicted higher D90%, V100%, and V150% of CTV-HR, dose of point A and D0.1cc and D2cc of OARs in three types of applicators. Except D2cc of sigmoid in T&R and Cylinder applicators, the D90%, V100%, and V150% of CTV-HR; the Dose of point A and the D0.1cc and D2cc of bladder, recutum and small bowel exhibited significant discrepancies (P>0.05). The effects of the three types of applicators on the dose distribution were quite different due to the difference of the materials: The dose difference of CTV-HR and OARs was greatest (around 10%) for T&O applicators but only 1%-5% for T&R and Cylinder applicators.Conclusions: This study demonstrated that AcurosBV was more accurate in calculating the doses in the air cavity and high-density substance than TG43. In the clinical setting, the AcurosBV exhibited different dosimetric distributions in the cervix plans for HDR brachytherapy, especially in treatment planning when using T&O applicators. The AcurosBV algorithm should be considered when using T&O applicators or some other materials with a much higher or lower density (metal or air) than soft tissue. Howevere, If the density is close to the soft tissue, considering AcurosBV algorithm requires more calculation time, TG43 could still be selected when using applicators in clinical.

As a key input parameter for simulating the moving trail of a rockfall, the magnitude of the normal coefficient of restitution (Rn) directly affects the prediction accuracy. However, few comprehensive and accurate calculation models are available for reference, owing to the fact that Rn is jointly controlled by multiple factors with the influence mechanisms being complex. Considering the interactive effects of influencing factors and the non-linear relationships between some influencing factors and Rn, the combined effects of the seven influencing factors on Rn were first investigated in this study by the response surface methodology–central composite design (RSM–CCD) method. The effects of the seven main factors on Rn were all significant; the results of the regression and variance analysis indicate that for non-angular blocks, the degree of influence of these factors is given by the following sequence: shape factor (η) > Schmidt hardness of the block (SHV1) > impact angle (θ) > rotational speed (ω) > Schmidt hardness of the slope surface (SHV2) > incident velocity (V) > block size (d). However, for angular blocks, the sequence is θ > SHV1 > ω > η > V > SHV2 > d. There are also many interaction parameters that had significant effects on the Rn of the test blocks (for non-angular blocks: η–θ > d–η > η–ω > V–d > SHV1–η > SHV1–θ; for angular blocks, d–θ > SHV1–d > V–η > SHV1–ω > d–η > η–ω > SHV1–η), the effects of which were examined via contour and three-dimensional surface plots. Based on the conclusions of these experiments (the determined significant influence parameters of Rn) and the previous single-factor experiments, the SPSS19.0 software was used to perform multivariate non-linear regression on the test results. Consequently, two Rn value calculation models of both non-angular and angular blocks were established. Through a contrastive analysis of the measured values of field tests and the predicted values of various models, the prediction ability of models “a” of the two types of blocks closely approached the measured values, with average deviations of only 3.4% and 9.8%; thus, these models can basically be used to achieve an accurate prediction of Rn values under various conditions. The models obtained in this study consider the comprehensive influences of various factors, which include not only the effects of all the main controlling factors, but also those of the interactions between them. Thus, these models can more accurately reflect the energy loss in the process of rockfall impact, which is helpful to improve the prediction accuracy of rockfall motion paths and is capable of providing a more reliable reference for the prevention and control of rockfall disasters.

Three-dimensional laser scanning is an advanced technique for fracture roughness measurements. The surface roughness of fractures (discontinuities) accurately measured is of practical importance for proper evaluation of the mechanical properties of a fractured rock material. It is also appropriate to perform a more systematic study on the effect of a sampling interval on the roughness measurement accuracy. This effect was investigated based on the 3D-point-cloud data of a fracture surface acquired with laser scanning. A series of 2D profiles corresponding to twelve directions were extracted from concentric circular sampling windows of different diameters. The roughness measurement accuracy is quantified by the three parameters, viz the mean square first derivative Z2 , structure function SF, and roughness profile index Rp . The sampling interval effect was investigated for its different values by analyzing the three parameters of different profiles. It was established that SF was very sensitive, while Z2 and Rp were less responsive to the sampling interval. It exerts a much weaker influence on the rock material fracture roughness in comparison with anisotropy.

Different opinions exist in the current research on the COR (coefficient of restitution) of rockfall, and these controversies can be attributed to the difference in the reduction degree of the real impact process during research on rockfall disasters. According to the previous research results, six main controlling factors affecting the COR were comprehensively determined. In this paper, experiments about the effects of the main controlling factors on the COR were conducted; a specially designed rockfall ejector was able to simulate the real rockfall impact process, from which the correlations between the main controlling factors and COR were obtained and then validated by theoretical derivation. By means of the proposed deviation theory between the impact contact point and the projection of mass center, the effects of the block shape on COR values were reasonably explicated. Synthetically, considering the relationships between the characteristic index of surface area distribution and the geometry with normal COR (Rn), a new index for quantifying the block shape, i.e., shape factor, was introduced, which shows a significant linear correlation of classification with Rn. Not equated to IH (inclined impact on a horizontal slope) or II (inclined impact on an inclined slope) in impact experiments of rockfall, the COR values of VI (vertical impact on an incline slope) and its evolving trend with impact angle are varied. COR values are not linearly related to the impact angle completely; kinematic COR (Rv), tangential COR (Rt), and Rn decrease with the increase of the impact angle and exhibit the power functions. The rotational speed (ω) of the block linearly increases with the increase of Rt; the effects of ω and shape on Rn are concomitant, and the ω of the non-round-shaped block is not always positively correlated with Rn, which may be the opposite when ω is small. The bouncing process is synthetically controlled by multiple influencing factors, and this research will provide an essential foundation for the follow-up study on the COR affected by multiple factors of interaction.

e15102 Background: KRAS G12C mutation is an oncogenic driver most frequently found in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), colorectal cancer (CRC), and other tumor types. Covalent small molecule inhibitors such as sotorasib, recently FDA-approved, and others in clinical trials that target G12C-altered protein by irreversibly binding to the GDP-bound inactive form of KRAS are clinically active in NSCLC patients carrying this somatic mutation. However, in in vitro assays we have developed to evaluate cellular GTP-bound KRAS G12C level, these molecules did not achieve maximal KRAS G12C target inhibition at the minimum concentration (Cmin) of their respective clinically doses. We therefore hypothesize that the potency of KRAS G12C inhibitors may be further improved through medicinal chemistry optimization. Methods: A series of in vitro and in vivo studies were conducted to assess the preclinical pharmacological activity of D3S-001. The biochemical potency of D3S-001 was evaluated by SPR binding analysis. The kinetics of KRAS G12C target engagement was measured by ELISA method. The inhibitor effect of D3S-001 on phospho-ERK1/2 was determined by HTRF assay, and the anti-proliferation effect on cancer cell lines was evaluated by CTG luminescence assay. For in vivo efficacy studies, several human cancer xenograft models and a mouse syngeneic model were employed. Results: D3S-001 demonstrated an exceptionally high Kinact/KI value of 1.58^106 M-1 s-1 by SPR binding analysis. In target engagement assays, D3S-001 achieved rapid and near complete (> 95%) KRAS G12C inhibition within 2 hours at 5 nM. This rapid and effective target engagement correlated with its substantially enhanced cellular potency in both in vitro and in vivo efficacy studies. D3S-001 demonstrated single-digit nanomolar IC50 values in inhibiting cellular phospho-ERK1/2 and cell proliferation in a panel of cancer cell lines harboring the KRAS G12C mutation. D3S-001 was also high selective with no anti-proliferation effects on non-KRAS G12C mutant cell lines. In in vivo studies, D3S-001 demonstrated robust anti-tumor effects as monotherapy in KRAS G12C xenograft models with tumor regression observed at 10 mg/kg and a 30% durable complete remission (CR) rate in CT26, a KRAS G12C syngeneic model, at 30 mg/kg. When combined with an anti-PD-1 antibody, a 70% durable CR rate was achieved with no tumor re-growth observed in CR mice after rechallenging with CT26 tumor, suggesting a memory T cell-induced response. Conclusions: D3S-001 is a highly potent, selective KRAS G12C inhibitor that is differentiated by its rapid and effective target engagement. Human PK modeling predicts > 95% constant target blockage using a 200 mg QD dosing regimen, which may be important and relevant to the induction of deeper and more durable clinical response. D3S-001 will enter a first-in-human Phase 1 clinical trial in 2022.

e15087 Background: Effective inhibition of G12C mutated KRAS is believed to be critical for anti-tumor efficacy in KRAS-driven cancers. D3S-001 is a potent and highly differentiated KRAS G12C inhibitor, which demonstrates rapid and near complete target inhibition and strong anti-tumor activity in preclinical cell line and animal models [Preclinical characterization of D3S-001, a highly potent, selective, and differentiated covalent inhibitor of KRAS G12C, ASCO 2022 Abstract #378099]. The current study utilizes pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling to predict the extent of KRAS G12C target inhibition at the proposed clinical dose range. Methods: Allometric scaling and non-linear fixed effect modeling were used to predict human PK profiles from DMPK data in animals. Human in vivo target inhibition was calculated based on human PK predictions, free drug fraction and results from in vitro target engagement assay. A First-in-Human (FIH) study was designed to investigate D3S-001 monotherapy in subjects with advanced solid tumors having a KRAS G12C mutation. Six dose escalation cohorts will be investigated, starting from 50mg QD. Results: Based on a GLP toxicology study in dogs, the highest non-severely toxic dose (HNSTD) was determined to be 20 mg/kg/day. Per ICH S9, a 20 mg/kg/day dose in dog supports a FIH starting dose of 110 mg. To ensure an additional safety margin, a lower starting dose of 50 mg was proposed. At 50 mg QD, the predicted human exposure (Cmax 60 nM, Caverage 49 nM, Ctrough 31 nM) is expected to achieve ̃70% target inhibition at 2 hours after dosing. In NCI-H358 mouse xenograft model, this exposure is associated with 94% tumor growth inhibition (TGI). Safety margins based on Cmax and AUC comparing to dog HNSTD are 17-fold and 9-fold, respectively. At 100 mg QD, the predicted human exposure (Cmax 120 nM, Caverage 98 nM, Ctrough 63 nM) is expected to achieve ̃95% target inhibition. This exposure is associated with tumor regression of 72% in the NCI-H358 mouse xenograft model. At dose levels higher than 100 mg QD, predicted human exposures are expected to consistently achieve >95% target inhibition starting 1 hour after dosing. These exposures are associated with deeper levels of tumor regression of 97%. Moreover, even at 400 mg QD, predicted human plasma concentrations are still below dog plasma concentration of 443 nM, Caverage at HNSTD. Conclusions: D3S-001 is predicted to achieve rapid and consistently efficacious KRAS G12C target inhibition in humans at proposed clinical dose range. This high degree of KRAS G12C inhibition over the dosing interval may translate into greater clinical benefit to patients with KRAS G12C mutations comparing with other clinical-stage KRAS G12C inhibitors. Clinical data from the FIH study will be evaluated and compared to preclinical predictions.

Transoral surgery (TOS) and IMRT represent two primary local ablative treatment modalities for oropharyngeal cancer (OPC). The choice of one over the other represents an interplay between the chance of cure vs risk of late sequelae. HPV-mediated (HPV+) OPC patients generally have excellent outcomes, especially in TNM-8 stage I disease. Controversies exist over which treatment has a more favorable toxicity profile and equal efficacy in the management of this population. Non-randomized retrospective data show comparable oncological and functional outcomes between TOS-based vs IMRT-based treatment for this disease. Several de-intensification concepts have been explored in this subset in both primary surgery-based vs primary radiotherapy-based trials. However, no robust mature trial data are available to convincingly guide treatment selection. TOS is often presented as one of the de-intensification options although the majority of series also describe the use of adjuvant treatments which inevitably result in non-negligible toxicities. Patient selection and surgeons' training are paramount. Understanding tumor biology and the prognostic value of traditional 'adverse' features will further guide trial design for refinement of risk tailored approach. In conclusion, comparative data suggests TOS and IMRT are both effective treatment for TNM-8 stage I HPV+ OPC with similar oncological and functional outcomes. TOS as a single modality has potential advantages in mitigating radiation included toxicities. TOS should be avoided in the presence of clinically overt extranodal extension or when negative margins are unlikely to be achieved. TOS is also less ideal for cases with radiological features predicting a high risk of distant metastasis.

This paper presents a small-area and multiband voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) using triple-coil inductors which can be used for wideband frequency synthesizer. A wide tuning range generally requires a large chip area. By regulating the coupling coefficient of the triple-coil inductors and parasitic capacitance of cross-couple pair, the triple-mode operation of VCO can be stably implemented. Notably, the triple-coil inductor can be realized within the same area as a single inductor. The VCO exhibits a wide tuning range from 6.6 GHz to 13.1 GHz, and a phase noise lower than -100 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset over the entire tuning range.

The Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) China Action on Spine and Hip status (CASH) study focused on the prevalence of osteoporosis and spinal fracture in China. The aim of the PURE CASH study is to determine the prevalence of osteoporosis and spinal fracture, and explore the potential relationship between spinal fracture and bone mineral density (BMD). This study is a prospective large-scale population study with a community-based sampling and recruitment strategy. The aim is to determine the prevalence of osteoporosis and vertebral fracture in this population, to evaluate the association between vertebral fractures and BMD values, and to assess the prediction power of BMD for incident fractures. Participants in the PURE CASH study are all from the PURE study in China, recruited from 12 centers in 7 Chinese provinces. The inclusion criteria are that participants should be aged more than 40 years and able to give informed consent. Exclusion criteria are pregnant women, individuals with metal implants in the lumbar spine, use of medications or the existence of any disease or condition known to have a major influence on BMD, and inability to give informed consent. A total of 3,457 participants undergo a quantitative computed tomography (QCT) scan of the upper abdomen. The scanning parameters are as follows: 120 kVp at all centers, mAs between 75 and 200, FOV 40 cm×40 cm. The BMD values of L1 to L3 are measured, and the average BMD calculated. The American College of Radiology QCT criteria for the diagnosis of osteoporosis is applied to determine the presence of osteoporosis. The scout view images of T4-L4 vertebrae are reviewed by two experienced radiologists for semi-quantification of vertebral fractures according to Genant's method.

Oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) has traditionally been managed by radiotherapy (RT)-based approaches. Minimally invasive surgery [transoral robotic surgery (TORS)/transoral laser microsurgery (TLMS)] is gaining popularity in T1-T2 HPV+ OPC. However, there is lack of high level evidence to guide practice. We summarize ongoing research regarding outcomes and investigational strategies for TORS/TLM- and RT-based treatments for this disease. Literature published in 2012–2017 demonstrated comparable exemplary outcomes with TORS/TLM and IMRT for selected HPV+ T1-T2 OPC. However, many TORS/TLM-treated patients also require adjuvant treatment, which impacts quality of life. Emerging RT-based de-intensification trial data suggest promising results. Ongoing investigation include indications for postoperative (chemo-)radiotherapy following TORS/TLM- and optimal RT-based de-intensification strategies. A contemporary literature review demonstrates equal efficacy for TORS/TLM and IMRT as primary treatment for selected HPV+ T1-T2 OPC. TORS/TLM is an attractive approach when the opportunity for single modality treatment is high.

In the process of impact-rebound, rockfalls with an initial rotational speed (RS) often undergo a violent transformation between rotational energy and translational energy, which may affect the coefficient of restitution (COR). However, owing to the complexity of experimental simulations and the influence mechanism, this issue is often neglected during research. Therefore, in this study, four representative blocks (ellipsoid, cylinder, cone with a spherical base, and disc) were selected, and impact tests of each block rotating around different axes with various RSs were conducted using a specially developed device. Based on the impact dynamics theory, the RS has no significant effect on the tangential COR (Rt), while it may exhibit a positive correlation with the Rt when the size of the block size is large enough. When the block rotates around the X-axis (approximately normal impact), there is no obvious relationship between the RS and the normal COR (Rn). Conversely, when the block rotates around the Y-axis (often non-normal impact), the RS influences the Rn, but it is difficult to determine in what manner and to what extent. Thus, to clarify the influence mechanism of RS on the Rn for non-normal impacts, a comprehensive variable, the impact posture coefficient (IPC), which comprehensively considers the RS, block shape, and impact posture, was introduced, and the impact-rebound characteristics of the blocks were classified and discussed. Under the condition of bouncing after only one impact, the IPC and Rn values exhibited a positive linear correlation when the block mass centre (C) is behind the contact point (CP), whereas the opposite behaviour was observed when the C is in front of the CP. Meanwhile, under the condition of bouncing after two impacts, the Rn and IPC values had a positive linear correlation. These findings explain the influence mechanism of RS on the COR and provide a new idea for the accurate prediction of the impact-rebound processes of rotating irregular rockfalls.

As the world's largest coal producer and consumer, China accounts for a relatively high proportion of methane emissions from coal mines. Several estimation methods had been established for the coal mine methane (CMM) emission. However, with large regional differences, various reservoir formation types of coalbed methane (CBM) and due to the complicated geological conditions in China, these methods may be deficient or unsuitable for all the mining areas (e.g. Jiaozuo mining area). By combing the CMM emission characteristics and considering the actual situation of methane emissions from underground coal mine, we found that the methane pre-drainage is a crucial reason creating inaccurate evaluating results for most estimation methods. What makes it so essential is the extensive pre-drainage quantity and its irrelevance with annual coal production. Accordingly, the methane releases were divided into two categories: methane pre-drainage and methane release during mining. On this basis, a pioneering method for estimating CMM emissions was proposed. Taking the Yanma coal mine in the Jiaozuo mining area as a study case, the evaluation method of the pre-drainage methane quantity was established after the correlation analysis between the pre-drainage rate and time. Thereafter, the mining activity influence factor ( MAIF ) was first introduced to reflect the methane release from the coal and rock seams around where affected by mining activity, and the buried depth was adopted as the predictor of the estimation for future methane emissions. It was verified in the six coal mines of Jiaozuo coalfield (2011) that the new estimation method has the minimum errors of 12.11%, 9.23%, 5.77%, −5.20%, −8.75% and 4.92% respectively comparing with other methods. This paper gives a further insight and proposes a more accurate evaluation method for the CMM emissions, especially for the coal seams with low permeability and strong tectonic deformation in methane outburst coal mines.

Hence, we performed this updated meta-analysis to estimate the diagnostic value of DCP , AFP and DCP + AFP in HCC. In addition, we conducted a validation study to analyze the performance of the candidate makers. After a systematic literature review, 27 studies from 20 articles were identified from four major databases. The pooled sensitivity and specificity were 69% and 89%, respectively, for DCP; for AFP, they were 65% and 88%, respectively; and they were 82% and 85%, respectively, for DCP + AFP. The values of the area under the curve (AUC) for DCP, AFP, DCP + AFP, respectively, were 0.88, 0.75, and 0.90. The validation study confirmed that the performance of DCP + AFP (sensitivity = 84%, specificity = 86%; AUC = 0.887) was higher than that of DCP (sensitivity = 76%, specificity = 92%; AUC = 0.843) or AFP (sensitivity = 73%, specificity = 92%; AUC = 0.837) alone.

Paclitaxel, one of the most commonly used cancer chemotherapeutic drugs, effectively extends the progression-free survival of breast, lung, and ovarian cancer patients. However, paclitaxel and other chemotherapy drugs elicit peripheral nerve fiber dysfunction or degeneration that leads to peripheral neuropathy in a large proportion of cancer patients. Patients receiving chemotherapy also often experience changes in mood, including anxiety and depression. These somatic and affective disorders represent major dose-limiting side effects of chemotherapy. Consequently, the present study was designed to develop a preclinical model of paclitaxel-induced negative affective symptoms in order to identify treatment strategies and their underlying mechanisms of action. Intraperitoneal injections of paclitaxel (8 mg/kg) resulted in the development and maintenance of mechanical and cold allodynia. Carboplatin, another cancer chemotherapeutic drug that is often used in combination with paclitaxel, sensitized mice to the nociceptive effects of paclitaxel. Paclitaxel also induced anxiety-like behavior, as assessed in the novelty suppressed feeding and light/dark box tests. In addition, paclitaxel-treated mice displayed depression-like behavior during the forced swim test and an anhedonia-like state in the sucrose preference test. In summary, paclitaxel produced altered behaviors in assays modeling affective states in C57BL/6J male mice, while increases in nociceptive responses were longer in duration. The characterization of this preclinical model of chemotherapy-induced allodynia and affective symptoms, possibly related to neuropathic pain, provides the basis for determining the mechanism(s) underlying severe side effects elicited by paclitaxel, as well as for predicting the efficacy of potential therapeutic interventions. The Al-doped Mg2Si thin films were fabricated by two-target alternative magnetron sputtering technique, and the influences of different Al doping contents on the thermoelectric properties of Al-doped Mg2Si thin films were investigated. The compositions, crystal structures, electronic transport properties and thermoelectric properties of the thin films were examined using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Hall coefficient measurement and Seebeck coefficient measurement system, respectively. The EDS results show that the thin films doped with Al target sputtering power of 30 W, 60 W and 90 W have the Al content of 0.68 at.%, 1.56 at.% and 2.85 at.%, respectively. XRD results indicate that the diffraction peaks of Mg2Si become stronger with increasing Al dopant. The results of Hall coefficient measurement and Seebeck coefficient measurement system reveal that all the samples are n-type. The conductivities of Al-doped Mg2Si thin films are significantly greater than that of undoped Mg2Si thin film, and increase with increasing Al doping content. With the increase of temperature, the absolute value of the Seebeck coefficients of Mg2Si base thin films increase firstly and then decrease. The maximum power factor obtained is 3.8 mW m−1 k−2 for 1.56 at.% Al-doped Mg2Si thin film at 573 K.

A novel decoupling structure is proposed for ultrawideband (UWB) MIMO antennas. It can improve isolation between two element antennas by using electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures based on a T-shaped ground branch. The proposed antenna has a good impedance matching, 2.2 to 12GHz and compact size, $50\text{mm}\times 35\text{mm}\times 1.6\text{mm}$ . there is a good isolation of the proposed antenna, below −20dB in the whole operation band, and a low envelop correlation ( $\text{ECC} ). A T-shaped ground branch is used to increase the isolation in the middle and low frequency band and a mushroom type EBG structure is introduced to achieve good isolation in the high frequency range. The simulation results of the proposed antenna are calculated by High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and the proposed antenna be applied in UWB-MIMO system

Background This study aimed to determine whether CD44 polymorphisms were correlated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and to reveal a new potential target for early prediction, prevention, and diagnosis of HCC. Method This study involved 96 cases with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), 96 cases with hepatitis B virus‐related liver cirrhosis (LC), 204 cases with HCC related to the hepatitis B virus, and 210 healthy controls. The genotype of rs8193 was determined using the restriction fragment length polymorphism method, while the genotypes of rs10836347 and rs13347 were determined by direct sequencing. Results The results showed that patients with the CD44 rs13347 TT and T allele polymorphisms exhibited higher risks of LC than those carrying the CC genotype and C allele. The CD44 rs13347 CT and TT genotypes and T allele were significantly associated with an increased risk of HCC after adjusting for gender, age, smoking, and alcohol consumption (for CT: odds ratio [OR] = 1.626, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.057‐2.500, P = .027; for TT: OR = 1.965, 95% CI = 1.043‐3.702, P = .037; and for T: OR = 1.461, 95% CI = 1.091‐1.956, P = .011). In the rs13347 site of the female population, the CT and TT genotypes were related to the high occurrence of HCC. In the population aged ≥50 years, carriers of the CD44 rs13347 CT and TT alleles were more susceptible to HCC compared with CC carriers. Those who consumed alcohol who carried the rs10836347 CT genotype exhibited a risk factor for HCC. Conclusion For the CD44 rs13347 site, mutations in the T allele might be a risk factor for HCC.
