Repeat hepatectomy (RH) and microwave ablation (MWA) are frequently used procedures for the treatment of recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after curative resection. This study aimed to compare the long-term outcomes of RH and MWA for solitary and small HCC with early or late recurrence.This retrospective study enrolled patients who underwent RH or MWA for solitary and small (≤3 cm) recurrent HCC at Tongji hospital between April 2006 and December 2020. Propensity score matching (PSM) was further employed to analyze the prognosis of different treatment methods.A total of 256 patients were analyzed, of whom 94 and 162 underwent RH and MWA, respectively. The overall treatment-related complication rate was higher in the RH group. Both recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) rates of RH were significantly better than those of MWA. Multivariate analysis showed that MWA, early recurrence (within 24 months after initial resection), cirrhosis, and AFP400 ng/ml were independent risk factors for poor prognoses of recurrent HCC. The stratified analysis demonstrated that MWA and RH had similar long-term outcomes in patients with early recurrence. Nevertheless, MWA had worse RFS and OS than RH in patients with late recurrence. The same results were obtained in the PSM analysis.The long-term outcomes of HCC patients with late recurrence were significantly better than those with early recurrence. RH should be the first choice for solitary small recurrent HCC patients with late recurrence, while MWA should be selected for those with early recurrence.

Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) is characterized by the formation of orthogonal arrays of particles (OAPs) comprising its M1 and M23 isoforms in the plasma membrane. However, the biological importance of OAP formation is obscure. Here, we developed an OAP depolymerization male mouse model by transgenic knock-in of an AQP4-A25Q mutation. Analyses of the mutant brain tissue using blue native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, super-resolution imaging, and immunogold electron microscopy revealed remarkably reduced OAP structures and glial endfeet localization of the AQP4-A25Q mutant protein without effects on its overall mRNA and protein expression.AQP4A25Q/A25Qmice showed better survival and neurologic deficit scores when cerebral edema was induced by water intoxication or middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion. The brain water content and swelling of pericapillary astrocytic endfeet processes inAQP4A25Q/A25Qmice were significantly reduced, functionally supporting decreased AQP4 protein expression at the blood–brain barrier. The infarct volume and neuronal damage were also reduced inAQP4A25Q/A25Qmice in the middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion model. Astrocyte activation in the brain was alleviated inAQP4A25Q/A25Qmice, which may be associated with decreased cell swelling. We conclude that the OAP structure of AQP4 plays a key role in its polarized expression in astrocytic endfeet processes at the blood–brain barrier. Therefore, our study provided new insights into intervention of cerebral cellular edema caused by stroke and traumatic brain injury through regulating AQP4 OAP formation.SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENTAquaporin-4 (AQP4) is characterized by orthogonal arrays of particles (OAPs) comprising the M1 and M23 isoforms in the membrane. Background & aims Gain of function (GOF) mutations in the CTNNB1 gene are one of the most frequent genetic events in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). T-box transcription factor 3 (TBX3) is a liver-specific target of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and thought to be an oncogene mediating activated β-catenin-driven HCC formation. Methods We evaluated the expression pattern of TBX3 in human HCC specimens. Tbx3 was conditionally knocked out in murine HCC models by hydrodynamic tail vein injection of Cre together with c-Met and ΔN90-β-catenin (c-Met/β-catenin) in Tbx3flox/flox mice. TBX3 was overexpressed in human HCC cell lines to investigate the functions of TBX3 in vitro. Results A bimodal expression pattern of TBX3 in human HCC samples was detected: high expression of TBX3 in GOF CTNNB1 HCC and downregulation of TBX3 in non-CTNNB1 mutant tumors. High expression of TBX3 was associated with increased differentiation and decreased expression signatures of tumor growth. Using Tbx3flox/flox mice, we found that ablation of Tbx3 significantly accelerates c-Met/β-catenin-driven HCC formation. Moreover, Tbx3(-) HCC demonstrated increased YAP/TAZ activity. The accelerated tumor growth induced by loss of TBX3 in c-Met/β-catenin mouse HCC was successfully prevented by overexpression of LATS2, which inhibited YAP/TAZ activity. In human HCC cell lines, overexpression of TBX3 inhibited HCC cell growth as well as YAP/TAZ activation. A negative correlation between TBX3 and YAP/TAZ target genes was observed in human HCC samples. Mechanistically, phospholipase D1 (PLD1), a known positive regulator of YAP/TAZ, was identified as a novel transcriptional target repressed by TBX3. Conclusion Our study suggests that TBX3 is induced by GOF CTNNB1 mutants and suppresses HCC growth by inactivating PLD1, thus leading to the inhibition of YAP/TAZ oncogenes. Lay summary TBX3 is a liver-specific target of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and thought to be an oncogene in promoting liver cancer development. Herein, we demonstrate that TBX3 is in fact a tumor suppressor gene that restricts liver tumor growth. Strategies which increase TBX3 expression and/or activities may be effective for HCC treatment.

A facile colorimetric method for rapid detection of putrescine (Put) and cadaverine (Cad) based on the peroxidase-like activity of (Fe,Co) codoped-CDs was developed. With the enzymatic hydrolysis by diamine oxidase (EC 1.4.3.6, DAO), Biogenic amines (BAs) were decomposed to produce H2O2 which oxidizes 3,3',5,5'-tetramethyl-benzidine with the catalysis of (Fe,Co)-codoped CDs. By means of principal component analysis, Put and Cad were differentiated from BAs and their total amounts were detected by measuring the spectral absorption at 652 nm with a linear range from 0.25 to 10 mg kg−1. The colorimetric method was applied to the detection of Put and Cad in various fish samples with a detection limit ((3σ/k, n = 9)) of 0.06 mg kg−1. Besides verifying with HPLC, the recoveries of the colorimetric method were also tested by spiking standards at three levels with the range of 98.2%–115.7%, indicating that the established colorimetric method was accurate and sensitive.

A colorimetric method combining WSe2 nanosheets with peroxidase-like activity and xanthine oxidase (XAO) was developed for xanthine detection. XAO catalyzes xanthine oxidation and thereby induces H2O2 production. WSe2 nanosheets can catalyze the oxidization of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) by H2O2 and produce a blue oxidation product of TMB (oxTMB). Under optimal conditions, the colorimetric method showed a linear response for xanthine detection in a range of 0.01–0.5 mM. The limit of detection was 4.37 μM. The recovery rate from spiked serum samples was 95.5%–115.5%. Therefore, our strategy provides new opportunities for the detection of xanthine and evaluation of health care.

Rapid detection of hypoxanthine (Hx), an important freshness indicator of aquatic products, is still urgent and challenging. In the present study, a colorimetric method for the rapid detection of Hx in aquatic products was established based on the peroxidase-like activity of cobalt-doped graphite phase carbon nitride (Co-doped-g-C3N4). After calcination of the mixture of melamine, cobalt chloride, potassium chloride and sodium chloride, Co-doped-g-C3N4 was obtained with strong peroxidase-like activity and good dispersity. Through the decomposition of Hx by xanthine oxidase, the generated hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was detected based on the oxidation reaction of H2O2 and 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine catalyzed by Co-doped-g-C3N4. The content of Hx could be directly measured by monitoring the spectral absorbance at 652 nm with a linear range of 2.50–153.1 mg kg−1 and a detection limit of 1.84 mg kg−1 calculated based on 3σ/K (n = 9). The established method was applied for the detection of Hx content in various aquatic products at different storage times after execution, and the data were validated by the HPLC method. The results showed that the Hx measurement by the established method was sensitive, accurate and reliable, and could be used for the rapid determination of the freshness of aquatic products at an early stage.

For patients with portal hypertension (PH), portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a fatal complication after splenectomy. Postoperative platelet elevation is considered the foremost reason for PVT. However, the value of postoperative platelet elevation rate (PPER) in predicting PVT has never been studied.To investigate the predictive value of PPER for PVT and establish PPER-based prediction models to early identify individuals at high risk of PVT after splenectomy.We retrospectively reviewed 483 patients with PH related to hepatitis B virus who underwent splenectomy between July 2011 and September 2018, and they were randomized into either a training (Multivariate analysis exhibited that the first and third days for PPER (PPER1, PPER3) were strongly associated with PVT [odds ratio (OR): 1.78, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.24-2.62,PPER1 and PPER3 are effective indicators for postoperative prediction of PVT. We have successfully developed PPER-based practical models to accurately predict PVT, which would conveniently help clinicians rapidly differentiate individuals at high risk of PVT, and thus guide the adoption of timely interventions.

Functional DNAs-functionalized magnetic beads (MBs) offer great potential in bioanalysis field because of their target recognition and magnetic separation functions. However, the recognition capability and hybridization affinity of DNA probes often suffer from limited available space, poor probe conformation and non-selective adsorption. To overcome these limitations, we herein used aptamer-pendant DNA tetrahedron nanostructure-functionalized MBs (TETapt-tet MBs) to develop a target-response fluorescence method with tetracycline (TET) as a model. In the absence of TET, 6-carboxy-X-rhodamine-labeled complementary DNAs (ROX-cDNAs) were assembled on the surface of MBs. Upon the addition of target TET, the ROX-cDNAs were separated and released from the MBs to generate fluorescence signal. The limit of detection and limit of quantification for TET were found to be 6 pg mL−1 and 20 pg mL−1, respectively. Compared with ssDNA-functionalized MBs surface, the designed DNA tetrahedron nanostructure-based surface could decrease the hybridization time and reduce false positives, ensuring the accuracy of TET detection in complex samples. The presented method was successfully employed for TET detection in honey samples. Moreover, this functionalization strategy could be extended to detect multiple antibiotics by simply substituting different aptamer sequences. Therefore, the proposed method has great potential in the field of food safety and public health.

To compare the short- and long-term outcomes of robot-assisted (RALR), laparoscopic (LLR), or open liver resection (OLR) in the treatment of BCLC stage 0-A hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Following the Balliol IDEAL classification, long-term oncological outcomes can be used to evaluate the value of minimally invasive techniques in the treatment of HCC, and to assess whether they should become a standard practice.Data from prospective cohorts of patients with BCLC stage 0-A HCC who underwent curative liver resection using OLR, LLR, or RALR at Tongji Hospital were reviewed. The short-term and long-term oncological outcomes of these three different surgical approaches after adequate follow-up were compared using propensity score matching to reduce selection bias.Of 369 patients included in this study (71, RALR; 141, LLR; and 157, OLR), 56 patients in each of the three groups were chosen for further comparison, after PSM. In the minimally invasive group (RALR+LLR), both the operative time and duration of Pringle's maneuver were significantly longer than those in the OLR group; however, the length of hospital stay was significantly shorter. There were no significant differences in the other intraoperative parameters and the incidence of postoperative complications among the three groups. HCC recurrence in the minimally invasive group when compared with the OLR group was characterized by a significantly higher proportion of single lesion or early stage HCC. However, there were no significant differences in the 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) (63.8%, 54.4%, and 50.6%) or overall survival rates (80.8%, 78.6%, and 75.7%, respectively) among the three groups. Clinically significant portal hypertension (CSPH) was the only risk factor that negatively affected the 5-year DFS rate. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that CSPH, serum alpha-fetoprotein level (≥400 ng/ml), and Edmondson-Steiner grading (III+IV) were independent risk factors for poor long-term survival.Both robotic and laparoscopic hepatectomies were safe and effective for patients with BCLC stage 0-A HCC when compared with open hepatectomy.

Background. Cirrhotic severity scoring (CSS) is a noninvasive method that can predict histological severity of cirrhosis. This study is aimed at assessing the predictive value of CSS on long-term outcomes after curative hepatectomy for patients with hepatitis B virus- (HBV-) related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and Child-Pugh grade A liver function and further developing novel nomograms to preoperatively predict posthepatectomy recurrence and survival. Methods. Consecutive patients who underwent curative hepatectomy for HCC between 2008 and 2014 were retrospectively studied. According to the CSS, patients were subclassified into 3 groups: no/mild, moderate, and severe cirrhosis. The impact of CSS on recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) was assessed. Furthermore, RFS and OS nomograms were developed. Results. The 5-year RFS and OS rates were 36.1% and 62.8% in the no/mild cirrhosis group, compared with 28.4% and 56.2% in the moderate cirrhosis group, and 16.2% and 33.0% in the severe cirrhosis group. Long-term survival outcomes were significantly worse with the increment of cirrhotic severity. CSS, alpha-fetoprotein level, tumor size, tumor number, and macrovascular invasion were identified as independent predictors of both RFS and OS. Besides, albumin-bilirubin grade was an independent risk factor of OS not RFS. RFS- and OS-predictive nomograms based on these preoperative variables were built. For these 2 nomograms, the C-indexes were 0.696 and 0.732, respectively. Calibration curves exhibited good agreement between actual observation and nomogram prediction. Conclusions. CSS was a predictor for long-term outcomes in HCC patients after curative hepatectomy. The novel nomograms exhibited accurate preoperative prediction of posthepatectomy recurrence and OS.

Background. Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common liver malignancy after hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with a dismal prognosis and high heterogeneity. The oncological advantages of anatomical resection (AR) and nonanatomical resection (NAR) in HCC have been studied, but surgical strategies for ICC remain controversial with insufficient investigations. Materials and Methods. From Jan 2013 to Dec 2016, 3880 consecutive patients were retrospectively reviewed from a single center. Patients with ICC undergoing AR or NAR have been enrolled according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was performed between two groups with a 1 : 1 ratio. The primary endpoint was overall survival (OS), and the secondary endpoints included disease-free survival (DFS), intraoperative patterns, postoperative morbidity, mortality, complications and recurrence. A prognostic nomogram was developed by a multivariate Cox proportion hazard model. Results. After PSM, 99 paired cases were selected from 276 patients enrolled in this study. Patients in the AR group achieved better 1-, 3-, and 5-year OS (70%, 46%, and 34%, respectively) and DFS (61%, 21%, and 10%, respectively) than patients in the NAR group with statistical significance after PSM analysis. The postoperative complications and recurrence patterns were comparable between the two groups. Multivariate analysis identified NAR, tumor size >5 cm, multiple tumors, and poor differentiation as independent risk factors for OS ( p < 0.05 ). Selected patients can benefit most from AR, according to subgroup analysis. A prognostic nomogram based on six independent risk factors for OS and factors with clinical significance was constructed to predict OS in ICC patients. Conclusion. AR improved the long-term survival of ICC with comparable postoperative complications and similar recurrence patterns. AR is suggested in ICC patients with sufficient remnant liver volume. In addition to surgery strategy, malignant characteristics of tumors are risk factors for ICC prognosis.

Based on data of daily rainfall in the 66 years from 1951 to 2016 and precipitation/minute data of the heavy rainfall event (daily rainfall > 50 mm) in Wuhan, China, several methods such as linear tendency, cumulative distance, and statistical analysis were used to analyze the rainfall features and to calculate the Rainfall Pattern of Short Duration Storm. It is found that: 1) The average rainfall precipitation in Wuhan was 1260.9 mm from 1951 to 2016, the change trend of annual precipitation in the past 66 years existed two rises and falls. The obvious change happened in 1979. The rainfall mainly concentrated in between April and August, accounting for about 65.8%. 2) In Wuhan city 309 rainstorm days and 65 heavy rainstorm days happened in the past 66 years, each year 4.69 rainstorm days and 0.98 heavy rainstorm days happened, and among average five rainstorm days 1 day was heavy rain. The most number of 12 rainstorm days happened in 1991. The trend of maximum daily rainfall firstly descended from 1951 to 1983, and then it increased up to 2016. 3) The daily rainstorm variation since 2000 shows that the average precipitation of 80 rainstorms was 83.28 mm, the max hour rainfall peak happened at 11:00 am BJT, the maximum average 3-hours rainfall occurred between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm BJT, and the max of average 6-hours rainfall occurred between 07:00 am and 12:00 pm BJT. 4) The coefficient of rainfall peaks for 1-hour rainfall, RP3-1, was about 0.439, and coefficient of rainfall peaks for 2-hour rainfall, RP3-2 was about 0.481.

Ni/Cu/Fe mixed metal oxides (Ni/Cu/Fe-MMOs) were prepared by calcination of Ni/Cu/Fe layered double hydroxides (Ni/Cu/Fe-LDHs) precursors. Their composition, structure and morphology were characterized by ICP, XRD, FT-IR, BET and SEM. Ni/Cu/Fe-MMOs were used for catalytic removal of NOx by hydrocarbon. Their catalytic activities were studied by NOx analyzer. The results show that Ni/Cu/Fe-MMOs have homogeneous distribution of hexagon with particles size around 30~50nm and specific surface areas of 10~35 m2∙g–1. Ni/Cu/Fe-MMOs sample with molar ration of Ni/Cu/Fe = 5:1:3 exhibits the highest NOx conversion of 15.3%. Ni/Co/Cu/Fe-MMOs have better catalytic activities than both Ni/Cu/Fe-MMOs and Cu/Co/Fe-MMOs. For Ni/Cu/Fe-MMOs, propene is the better reductant than octane.

Rapid detection of malachite green (MG) by fluorescence probes of CdTe quantum dots (QDs) coated with molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) has been reported, but low sensitivity, slow response and narrow linear range were the main disadvantages for these MIP@QDs probes. Here, an ultra-sensitive ratiometric fluorescence probe based on self-assembly functionalized polystyrene (PS) and core-shell structured MIP was developed for the detection of MG in fish. After modified with poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) and hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, CdTe QDs and silica encapsulated carbon quantum dots (CDs@SiO2) with negative charges, used as detection and reference fluorophores, were respectively self-assembled on the surface of PS to form PS-QDs&CDs. And a core-shell structured MIP layer was fabricated on the surface of PS-QDs&CDs to form a ratiometric fluorescence probe of MIP@PS-QDs&CDs with sol-gel method using MG, (3-aminopropyl)triethoxy-silan and tetraethyl orthosilicate as template, functional monomer and cross-linker, respectively. With intensive fluorescence densities of QDs&CDs in nucleus, the fluorescence emission of probe at λem of 630 nm could be linearly quenched by MG, while the fluorescence emission at λem of 430 nm remained unchanged. The probe of MIP@PS-QDs&CDs owned good fluorescence stability (RSD ≤2.3%), fast response time (5 min), wide linear range (0.1–32 μmol L−1) and low detection limit (5.6 μg kg−1), and has been applied to the detection of MG in fish samples with recoveries of 94.3–110.2%. The result validated that the as-prepared probe of MIP@PS-QDs&CDs had an excellent performance for MG detection in fish samples.

Fluorescence-based aptasensors possess high sensitivity but are complicated and usually require multistep labeling and modification in method design, which severely limit the practical applications. Here, a label-free fluorescence-based aptasensor, consisting of aptamer, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), and cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs), was developed for the detection of sulfadimethoxine (SDM) in water and fish based on the specific recognition of SDM-aptamer and the inner filter effect of QDs and AuNPs. In the absence of a target, AuNPs dispersed in salt solution because of the aptamer protection, which could effectively quench the fluorescence emission of QDs, while in the presence of SDM, AuNPs aggregated due to the specific recognition of SDM-aptamer to SDM, which resulted in fluorescence recovery. A linear response of SDM concentrations in the range of 10–250 ng mL−1 ( R2 = 0.99) was obtained, and the detection limit was 1.54 ng mL−1 (3σ, n = 9), far below the maximum residue limit (100 ng mL−1) of SDM in edible animal tissues regulated by China and the European Commission. The fluorescence-based aptasensor was applied to the detection of SDM in aquaculture water and fish samples with high accuracy, excellent precision, and ideal selectivity. The results indicated that the developed aptasensor was simple in design, easy to operate, and could be used to detect rapidly and accurately SDM in water and fish samples.

With industrialization and human activities, shellfish may be contaminated by various pollutants such as heavy metals. This study aims at the concentrations of As, Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Sn, Sb and Pb in shellfish collected from Fujian of China, and the risk of heavy metals in shellfish on human health based on target hazard quotients (THQ). Results showed that the THQ values of the elements were far below 1, except for As with an average value of 1.148 in razor clam. No detrimental health effects of heavy metals on humans health was observed by daily consumption of mussel and oyster, but the exposed population to short-necked clam, scallop and razor clam might experience noncarcinogenic health risks because each of the total THQ values was above 1 for the three shellfish.

In this paper, we present the synthesis, crystal structures and magnetic properties of three complexes with formulae [Cu3Ln2(L)2(teaH)2(N3)2Cl2]·xCH3CN (H2L = N1,N3-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)diethylenetriamine, teaH3 = triethanolamine; Ln = Ho, x = 3 for 1, Ln = Dy, x = 2 for 2 and Ln = Gd, x = 3 for 3), and the structural topologies of 1–3 are unprecedented. The structural analyses revealed that the metal ions in 1–3 formed a kite-like topology with Ln1, Ln2 and Cu1 located on the body, while Cu2 and Cu3 located on both wings. The dc data of 3 were fitted, which showed that the magnetic couplings are antiferromagnetic between CuII and between GdIII ions, while they are ferromagnetic between CuII and GdIII ions. AC magnetic susceptibility studies for 1 and 2 indicated that both complexes exhibit frequency dependent χ′′ signals at low temperature, but no χ′′ peaks were observed, which may be due to the deviation from ideal geometry for HoIII in 1 and DyIII in 2 and the presence of weak magnetic couplings between paramagnetic ions within the two complexes. For 3, the ac magnetic susceptibilities with zero dc fields show no frequency dependent χ′′ signals because of the isotropy of GdIII. The orientation of the easy magnetization axes of two DyIII in 2 was estimated using the Magellan program, indicating that the magnetic anisotropy axes for Dy1 and Dy2 are almost perpendicular with the angle of 86.630°.

e16158 Background: Chinese guidelines recommend surgical resection for patients with China Liver Cancer (CNLC) Stage Ia−IIIa HCC (equal to BCLC stage A/B and selected patients with BCLC stage C). Despite treatment, however, patients with CNLC stage IIb (tumor number > 3) and IIIa (vascular invasion) disease have a high recurrence risk and poor overall survival (OS). Here we assessed the efficacy and safety of adjuvant lenvatinib in patients with high risk of disease recurrence. Methods: In this multi-center, single-arm, prospective clinical trial (NCT04227808), patients underwent radical (R0) resection for CNLC Stage IIb/IIIa HCC within 4-6 weeks were eligible and received treatment of lenvatinib (8 or 12 mg/day for body weight < 60 and ≥60 kg, respectively. Dose modifications were permitted due to adverse reactions) until disease recurrence, intolerable toxicity or death. The primary endpoint was 1-year recurrence-free survival (RFS), and secondary endpoints included OS and safety. The total planned enrollment for this study is 50 patients and here we report our preliminary analysis results. Results: A total of 59 patients were screened from Mar 2020 to Dec 2021 and 50 were enrolled in the study. By the cut of date (Dec 31, 2021), 42 patients had at least one set of follow-up data and were included in the present analysis. The 42 patients were predominantly male (83.3%, n = 35), and the median age was 55.5 years (range: 26–73). 78.6% (n = 33) were HBV-positive and 21.4% (n = 9) of disease were non-viral. Five patients (11.9%) had CNLC Stage IIb and 37 (88.1%) had CNLC Stage IIIa HCC. The median duration of treatment was 8.4 months (range: 1.7-18.7) with a median follow-up of 11.3 months (95% CI: 6.6−15.9). 24% (n = 10) had experienced dose reduction or delay. The 1-year RFS rate was 50.5%, while the median RFS was 16.5 months (95% CI: 11.3–21.7). Two deaths occurred: one secondary to disease recurrence and one from hepatic encephalopathy without recurrence. In total, 90.5% (n = 38) of patients experienced ≥1 treatment-related adverse events (AE) of any grade, and five patients (11.9%) had grade 3 treatment-related AEs (thrombocytopenia in two cases, proteinuria in two cases, and elevated aspartate aminotransferase in one case). There was no treatment-related death. Conclusions: Adjuvant lenvatinib was well-tolerated in patients with CNLC Stage IIb/IIIa HCC after R0 resection. The median RFS was longer than our historical data (mRFS = 9.03 months), and these findings warrant further investigation in a controlled study. Funding: Eisai Co., Ltd.
