To address the demands of lower energy consumption and higher computing performance, big.LITTLE architecture consisting of high-performance big cores and energy-efficient little cores has been proposed to provide a heterogeneous computing environment for balancing the needs of energy saving and performance improvement. For advanced big.LITTLE platforms, big and little cores can be active simultaneously and are exposed to the kernel scheduler, i.e., the operating system can assign tasks onto any cores. Based on the Linux kernel, Android adopts a heterogeneous multi-processing architecture to assign tasks with higher CPU utilization to big cores, and other tasks can be assigned to little cores so as to maintain the balanced utilization among all cores. However, there could be some tasks with very low utilization, but their response time is critical, e.g., user interfaces, interactive threads, and system monitoring threads. In this work, latency constraints are explicitly assigned to some critical tasks. We then leverage the original Android scheduler for keeping the utilization of all cores balanced and append our kernel module to the scheduler for estimating the latency of each thread and for scheduling all tasks with considerations of their latency constraints. Latency-critical tasks are then scheduled onto cores with latency guarantees, and other tasks can be scheduled for managing the workload balance of the system.

In order to solve the problem of accuracy decrease of Direct Position Determination (DPD) in the presence of gain-phase error, the effect of the gain-phase error to the DPD algorithm is analyzed and an improved DPD algorithm with gain-phase error is introduced. In this algorithm, the gain-phase errors and the position of the targets are co-estimated simultaneously with iteration, which reduce the effect of the gain-phase errors. Simulation result shows that the improved algorithm has higher accuracy than the DPD algorithm without correction.

Cases of 30 whey protein isolate-sodium caseinate-glycerol composite protein films based on different ingredients and processing techniques, and their packaging properties were analyzed by Q and R cluster analysis, respectively. The results verified that there was a correlation in either 30 cases or 7 indexes of packaging performance, which contributed to a scientific sorting. 30 cases could be divided into 5 groups by Q cluster analysis with the Euclidean distance at 40, in which case 28 and 30 exhibited the highest similarity. On the other hand R cluster analysis in packaging performance indicated that gas permeability and haze values of composite films tended to be more similar than the others.

The degradable protein film-forming materials contained 5% whey protein isolate (WPI), 2% sodium caseinate (NaCas) and 50% glycerol,which was the optimal formula obtained by uniform design method of previous work. The antimicrobial activity and packaging performance of WPI-NaCas degradable protein films were discussed by addition of nanoTiO2 at different concentrations (0,0.05,0.10,0.15,0.20g•(200ml)-1) in film-forming solution.The results showed that nanoTiO2 and protein films showed a certain degree of compatibility.Addition of nanoTiO2 could improve tensile strength and elongation at break of the protein films and decrease WVP values of the films,but decrease light transmittance,increase haze of the protein films. The degradable protein films suited for using below150°C.And,nanoTiO2 incorporated into protein films had antimicrobial activity against both E.coli and S.aureus.

Effects of sodium alginate on properties of WPI-NaCas composite films optimized by previous uniform design experiments were investigated. Films were prepared with different concentrations (1%, 2%, 3%) and ratios (1:0, 5:1, 3:1, 1:1, 1:3, 1:5, 0:1, ratio of composite protein solution to sodium alginate solution) of sodium alginate additions. Results suggested increases in water solubility of films and middle diameter, volume-length mean diameter and area-length mean diameter of film-forming solutions. Addition of sodium alginate decreased the gas and water vapor barrier properties of composite films, however, their mechanical properties could be improved by proper usage. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope analysis indicated that protein and sodium alginate presented well interaction and compatibility.

This work proposes a framework to provide emergency navigation for people within flooding events. Real-time data from weather stations are downloaded for the flooding simulation in our framework. Sensors are disposed along the river, and the collected sensor data can be used to update our simulation results to provide more accurate estimation of flooding events. After flooding models are constructed, this work further includes and modifies the Dijkstra algorithm for the navigation. Our navigation algorithm dynamically considers the traveling speed of users, the real-time flooding data, and the estimation of flooding to provide the best route which is not only the shortest path to destinations but also relatively safe. In our prototype implementation, the map of Manado City is included in our experiments, and the traces of the real flooding data of Manado City are also included as the input of our experiments. The experimental results show that our framework can immediately provide alarm and navigation when a node in the map is prone to be flooded, and the provided routes can avoid flooding nodes in the map.

Antimicrobial effect of functional protein films incorporating garlic oil (GO), potassium sorbate (PS) and nisin (N) at various concentrations were discussed. This activity was tested against food pathogenic bacteria namely Escherichia coli (E.coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus).Mechanical and physical properties were characterized. In the range of antimicrobial agents concentration studied, tensile strength (TS) and elongation at break (E) of functional protein films were changed by incorporating GO,PS and N. And the WVP value of functional protein films decreased as antimicrobial agents added. GO incorporated into protein films had no effect on E.coli, but incorporation of GO at 300μl had antimicrobial activity against S.aureus. Protein films incorporated with PS showed antimicrobial activity against S.aureus, but there was no effect on E.coli. Incorporation of N at the lowest level of 25,000 IU had antimicrobial activity against both E.coli and S.aureus.

In recent years, due to the differences between natural environment and the human way of life, under the pressure of environment and development, there presented varying degrees of frangibility in different areas. Take the north mountain of Hebei Province as an example to make spatio-temporal analysis, which can provide basis for sustainable development of economic, society and environment. Research results showed that: from the perspective of time series, the overall situation of ecological environment was improved, and the average ecological frangibility index declined by 0.19% from 1987 to 2000, and it declined by 0.77% from 2000 to 2008. From the perspective of space series, the overall state was improved.

Influences of whey protein isolate (WPI), sodium caseinate (NaCas) and soybean protein isolate (SPI) on gelatin (GA) film properties were investigated by comparing with common plastic films. The results suggested that WPI and NaCas caused tensile strength (TS) of GA film increasing from 6.38MPa to 7.17MPa,7.52MPa; water vapor permeability (WVP) decreasing from 18.46*10-13g m-1 s-1 Pa-1 to 17.92*10-13g m-1 s-1,16.46*10-13g m-1 s-1; and resulted in oxygen transmission rate (O2TR) decreasing from 128.315cm3m-2d-10.1MPa-1 to 37.352 cm3m-2d-10.1MPa-1, 38.129 cm3m-2d-10.1MPa-1.WVP of GA films increased 13.2% and O2TR decreased 4.1% as the addition of SPI. NaCas-GA composite films was the optimal group which had significant advantage on Ts, optical properties and barrier properties.

A new planarization polishing method, based on the cluster magnetorheological (MR) effect and using MR fluid to form the flexible polishing pad, is presented in this paper to polish optical glass. To explore the machining characteristic of the viscid and flexible polishing pad based on the cluster MR-effect, some process experiments were conducted to reveal the influence of the machining gap, the speed of the polishing disc and the polishing time on the machining effect. The results indicate that the viscid and flexible polishing pad based on the cluster MR-effect under a strong magnetic field can reduce surface roughness effectively. When the strength of the magnetic field is 2000Gs, and the content of the carbonyl iron is 12%, the surface roughness can be reduced rapidly from the original Ra0.27μm to Ra1.4nm based on the cluster MR-effect.

To reveal the impact of mining on bacterial ecology around mining area, bacterial community and geochemical characteristics about Dabaoshan Mine (Guangdong Province, China) were studied. By amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis and phylogenetic analysis, it is found that mining pollution greatly impacts the bacterial ecology and makes the habitat type of polluted environments close to acid mine drainage (AMD) ecology. The polluted environment is acidified so greatly that neutrophil and alkaliphilic microbes are massively dead and decomposed. It provided organic matters that can make Acidiphilium sp. rapidly grow and become the most bacterial species in this niche. Furthermore, Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Leptospirillum sp. are also present in this niche. The amount of Leptospirillum sp. is far more than that of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, which indicates that the concentration of toxic ions is very high. The conclusions of biogeochemical analysis and microbiological monitor are identical. Moreover, because the growth of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Leptospirillum sp. depends on ferrous iron or inorganic redox sulfur compounds which can be supplied by continual AMD, their presence indicates that AMD still flows into the site. And the area is closer to the outfalls of AMD, their biomasses would be more. So the distinction of their biomasses among different areas can help us to find the effluent route of AMD.

Three acid mine drainage (AMD) samples collected from Dabaoshan Mine (Guangdong Province, China) were studied. In addition to physicochemical analyses, the diversity and community structures of the archaeal communities in these samples were described at the genetic level by amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis (ARDRA). Nine different ARDRA patterns were obtained from 146 clones and were studied as operational taxonomic units (OTUs), which were re-amplified and sequenced. Sequence data and phylogenetic analysis showed that most of the clones belonged to the Thermoplasmatales, and that archaea belonging to the Sulfolobales were absent. Only 1 OTU attributed to Ferroplasma was found and was observed to be abundant in all 3 samples. Eight OTUs were related to 2 new undefined groups in the Thermoplasmatales. Of the 8 OTUs, the clones in 2 similar units were isolated from samples collected from an abandoned sulfide mine (Huelva, Spain) and those in 5 similar units were isolated from samples collected from a closed copper mine (Tonglushan, China). These diversities were characterized by the reciprocal of Simpson's index (1/D) and correlated with the concentrations of ferrous ions and toxic ions in the AMD samples. The high temperature of the sampling sites was one of the factors that could explain why archaea belonging to the Thermoplasmatales were abundant in the analyzed AMD samples while those belonging to the Sulfolobales were absent.

By analyzing the epidemiological and clinical features of adenovirus in children with acute respiratory tract infection (ARTI), we provide a theoretical basis for early clinical diagnosis and treatment. Nasopharyngeal secretions were collected from 3480 children with ARTI, who were hospitalized at the No. 2 Hospital of Changzhou from January 2011 to December 2012. Adenovirus were detected using direct immunofluorescence assays. A total of 80 samples were positive for adenovirus (2.30%). The rate of adenovirus infection during 2011 was significantly higher than that in 2012, and the infection rate was higher in summer and autumn than in winter and spring. The infection rate was 1.14% among children aged1-year-old and the rates were higher among children in other age ranges. Adenovirus was found to be an important ARTI pathogen in children in Changzhou, mainly affecting children older than 1 year. ADV infections have various clinical presentations, but affected children tend to be severely ill with poor outcomes.

Based on the formation of tetramethylthiuram disulfide (thiram)–copper(II) complex by square-wave voltammetry on a glassy carbon electrode, a new method is proposed for determination of thiram. There is a good linear relationship between peak current and concentration of thiram in the range of 6.0×10 −6 to 8.0×10 −5 mol l −1 ( r =0.999). The method is applied to the determination of thiram residue in plant with satisfactory results, compared with results achieved by using HPLC. Two oxidation peaks and two reduction peaks are obtained by cyclic voltammetry on a glassy carbon electrode in 0.2 mol l −1 HAc–NaAc (pH 4.0) solution containing thiram–copper(II) complex. The electrode reaction process is quasi-reversible with adsorptive characteristics. The mechanism of electrode reaction is discussed.

The use of combination drugs is considered to be a promising strategy to control complex diseases such as ischemic stroke. The detection of metabolites has been used as a versatile tool to reveal the potential mechanism of diverse diseases. In this study, the levels of 12 endogenous AAs were simultaneously determined quantitatively in the MCAO rat brain using RRLC-QQQ method. Seven AAs were chosen as the potential biomarkers, and using PLS-DA analysis, the effects of the new combination drug YQJD, which is composed of ginsenosides, berberine, and jasminoidin, on those 7 AAs were evaluated. Four AAs, glutamic acid, homocysteine, methionine, and tryptophan, which changed significantly in the YQJD-treated groups compared to the vehicle groups (P < 0.05), were identified and designated as the AAs to use to further explore the synergism of YQJD. The result of a PCA showed that the combination of these three drugs exhibits the strongest synergistic effect compared to other combination groups and that ginsenosides might play a pivotal role, especially when combined with jasminoidin. We successfully explored the synergetic mechanism of multi-component and provided a new method for evaluating the integrated effects of combination drugs in the treatment of complex diseases.

The aim of this study is to investigate the protection effect of tanshinone IIA (Tan) against triptolide (TP)-induced liver injury and the mechanisms involved. Acute liver injury was induced by intraperitoneal injection of TP (1 mg x kg(-1)) in mice. The activities of AST, ALT and LDH in serum and the levels of GSH, GST, GSH-PX, SOD, CAT and MDA in liver tissue were detected. The histopathological changes of liver tissues were observed after HE staining. Nrf2 translocation in liver tissue was detected by Western blotting, and real-time PCR was used to measure the expression levels of GCLC, NQO1 and HO-1 mRNA. The results showed that pretreatment with Tan significantly prevented the TP induced liver injury as indicated by reducing the activities of AST, ALT and LDH (P0.01). Tan pretreatment also prevented TP-induced oxidative stress in the mice liver by inhibiting MDA and restoring the levels of GSH, GST, SOD and CAT (P0.05). Parallel to these changes, pretreatment with Tan could attenuate histopathologic changes induced by TP. Furthermore, the results indicated that Tan pretreatment caused nuclear accumulation of Nrf2 as well as induction of mRNA expression of antioxidant response element (ARE)-driven genes such as GCLC, NQO1 and HO-1. These results indicated that Tan could protect against TP-induced acute liver injury via the activation of Nrf2/ARE pathway.

This study is to investigate the protection effect of schisandrin B (Sch B) against oxidation stress of HK-2 cells induced by cisplatin and the mechanisms involved. HK-2 cells were cultured and divided into different groups: solvent control group, cisplatin exposure group, positive group, Sch B treatment group. Cell viability and toxicity were evaluated by MTT and LDH assay. GSH level and SOD enzymes activities were also measured. DCFH-DA as fluorescence probe was used to detect ROS level by fluorescence microplate reader. Nrf2 translocation was detected by Western blotting. Real time Q-PCR was used to detect expressions of NQO1, HO-1 and GCLC mRNA level. The results showed that Sch B could significantly inhibit the decline of cell viability induced by cisplatin treatment (P0.05) and the protective effect was in a dose dependent manner. Furthermore, Sch B treatment significantly inhibited the increase of ROS level induced by cisplatin and reversed the decrease of GSH level (P0.05). When Sch B concentration was up to 5 micromol x L(-1), SOD enzyme activities were also enhanced significantly compared with that of the cisplatin group (P0.05). It was shown that Sch B could cause nuclear accumulation of Nrf2 in association with downstream activation of Nrf2 mediated oxidative response genes such as GCLC, NQO1 and HO-1. These results suggested Sch B could protect against the oxidative damage of HK-2 cells induced by cisplatin via the activation of Nrf2/ARE signal pathway.

Schisandrin B (Sch B) is an active ingredient of the fruit of Schisandra chinensis. It has many therapeutic effects arising from its tonic, sedative, antitussive and antiaging activities and is also used in the treatment of viral and chemical hepatitis. The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effects of Sch B on cyclosporine A (CsA)-induced nephrotoxicity in mice and HK-2 cells (a human proximal tubular epithelial cell line). After gavage with Sch B (20 mg/kg) or olive oil (vehicle), mice received CsA (30 mg/kg) by subcutaneous injection once daily for four weeks. Renal function, histopathology, and tissue glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were evaluated after the last treatment. The effects of Sch B on CsA–induced oxidative damage in HK-2 cells were investigated by measuring cell viability, the release of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and the cellular GSH and ATP concentrations. Cellular apoptosis was assessed by flow cytometry. Treatment with Sch B in CsA-treated mice significantly suppressed the elevation of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine levels and attenuated the histopathological changes. Additionally, Sch B also decreased renal MDA levels and increased GSH levels in CsA-treated mice. Using an in vitro model, Sch B (2.5, 5 and 10 μM) significantly increased the cell viability and reduced LDH release and apoptosis induced by CsA (10 μM) in HK-2 cells. Furthermore, Sch B increased the intracellular GSH and ATP levels and attenuated CsA-induced ROS generation. In conclusion, Sch B appears to protect against CsA-induced nephrotoxicity by decreasing oxidative stress and cell death.

Recognition of lung cancer cells is very important to the clinical diagnosis of lung cancer. In this paper we present a novel method to extract the structure characteristics of lung cancer cells and automatically recognize their types. Firstly soft mathematical morphology methods are used to enhance the grayscale image, to improve the definition of images, and to eliminate most of disturbance, noise and information of subordinate images, so the contour of target lung cancer cell and biological shape characteristic parameters can be extracted accurately. Then the minimum distance classifier is introduced to realize the automatic recognition of different types of lung cancer cells. A software system named "CANCER.LUNG" is established to demonstrate the efficiency of this method. The clinical experiments show that this method can accurately and objectively recognize the type of lung cancer cells, which can significantly improve the pathology research on the pathological changes of lung cancer and clinical assistant diagnoses.
