In this paper, a hybrid immersed smoothed point interpolation method (hybrid IS-PIM) is proposed, which employs a hybrid force approach to impose fluid-structure interaction (FSI) force condition. Compared with the original IS-PIM using a complete body force, the hybrid IS-PIM still utilizes the form of body force for pressure term to enhance the stability of numerical algorithm, and the shear force is applied to the boundary to accord with the physical law and the practical situation. Numerical examples have shown that the body force term enables the proposed method to overcome the constraint of mesh size ratio, and the boundary force term has a direct effect on the motion and deformation of solids, which yields more accurate results in comparison with the complete body force applied in the original IS-PIM. Moreover, the equivalence of FSI force in forms of body force and boundary force are also verified straightforwardly using a series of mesh combinations.

Underwater structures can be seriously damaged by a metal jet associated with underwater explosion. Three main modes—Shaped Charge Jet, Jetting Projectile Charge and Explosive Formed Projectile—are included for traditional metal jets. Compared with the traditional ones, an annular jet may cause more serious damage into a target. Hence, a comparison for the entire process of annular and general jets penetration into underwater plates was analysed in this paper. Since Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method has advantages of solving problems of large deformations, a modified scheme for approximating kernel gradient is used in simulation of processes of shaped charge detonation, jet formation and its penetration into underwater plates. An SPH model of an annular jet penetration into a steel target was first developed, and its numerical results were compared with experimental data. Then, models of annular and general jets associated with underwater explosion penetrating a plate were built. After that, the wave propagation in the detonation process and the formation of annular and general jets were analysed. Finally, damage characteristics of plates subjected to these two metal jets were compared.

Creating an enabling environment (EE) can help foster the development and health of children. The Chinese government implemented a new health care reform (NHR) in 2009 in a move to promote an EE for health. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of the NHR on EE for children's health.An interrupted time-series analysis was used to evaluate the changes in the EE before and after 2009 in China. This study analysed the EE through five quantitative indicators, including policy element coverage rate (PECR), service meeting with children's needs rate (SMCNR), multisector participation rate (MPR), and accountability mechanism clarity rate (AMCR), based on the content analysis of available public policy documents (updated as of 2019) from 31 provinces in mainland China, and the number of health care personnel of maternity and child care centres per 10 000 population (HP per 10 000 population), based on the 2002-2019 China Health Statistical Yearbook and China Statistical Yearbook.The average values of PECR, SMCNR, and MPR increased rapidly to 90.96%, 82.46%, and 81.31%, respectively, in 2019, representing a higher value compared to the AMCR (7.38%). The NHR promoted the EE, in which HP per 10 000 population showed the fastest increase (βThe NHR has a positive impact on the EE, especially on the human resources and service provision for children. Efforts should be intensified to improve the clarity of the accountability mechanism of the health-related sectors.

With the improvement of the antiknock performance of warships, shaped charge warheads have been focused on and widely used to design underwater weapons. In order to cause efficient damage to warships, it is of great significance to study the formation of shaped charge projectiles in air and water. This paper uses Euler governing equations to establish numerical models of shaped charges subjected to air and underwater explosions. The formation and the movement of Explosively Formed Projectiles (EFPs) in different media for three cases: air explosion and underwater explosions with and without air cavities are discussed. First, the velocity distributions of EFPs in the formation process are discussed. Then, the empirical coefficient of the maximum head velocity of EFPs in air is obtained by simulations of air explosions of shaped charges with different types of explosives. The obtained results agree well with the practical solution, which validates the numerical model. Further, this empirical coefficient in water is deduced. After that, the evolutions of the head velocity of EFPs in different media for the above three cases are further compared and analyzed. The fitting formulas of velocity attenuation of EFPs, which form and move in different media, are gained. The obtained results can provide a theoretical basis and numerical support for the design of underwater weapons.

Objective: To evaluate left ventricular regional and global systolic function by measuring left ventricular longitudinal strain (LS) in hypertensive patients with sigmoid-shaped interventricular septum (SIS) by two-dimensional speckle tracking (2D-STE); in order to explore whether the sigmoid-shaped interventricular septum affects the left ventricular systolic function in patients with hypertension. Methods: Routine echocardiographic parameters were measured in 30 hypertensive patients with SIS (SIS group) and 30 hypertensive patients without SIS (non-SIS group). The left ventricular segments and global LS were measured by 2D-STE, and the two sets of parameters were compared. Results: The value of the thickness of the basal segment of the interventricular septum (IVSBT), the thickness of the middle segment of the interventricular septum (IVSMT) and the ratio of the basal segment of the ventricular septum to the middle segment of the interventricular septum (IVSBT/IVSMT) in SIS group was higher than that in non-SIS group. However, the value of left ventricular outflow tract diameter (LVOTD) in SIS group was lower than that in non-SIS group. There was a significant difference between the two groups (all P < 0 05). The LS values of the basal segment of the left ventricular anterior wall and the posterior wall of the left ventricle in the SIS group were lower than those in the non-SIS group. The difference was statistically significant (all P < 0.05). Conclusion: SIS affects left ventricular regional systolic function of patients with hypertension. 2D-STE can early evaluate left ventricular longitudinal systolic function in hypertensive patients with SIS.

A process of underwater explosion of a charge near a rigid wall includes three main stages: charge detonation, bubble pulsation and jet formation. A smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method has natural advantages in solving problems with large deformations and is suitable for simulation of processes of charge detonation and jet formation. On the other hand, a boundary element method (BEM) is highly efficient for modelling of the bubble pulsation process. In this paper, a hybrid algorithm, fully utilizing advantages of both SPH and BEM, was applied to simulate the entire process of free and near-field underwater explosions. First, a numerical model of the free-field underwater explosion was developed, and the entire explosion process– from the charge detonation to the jet formation–was analysed. Second, the obtained numerical results were compared with the original experimental data in order to verify the validity of the presented method. Third, a SPH model of underwater explosion for a column charge near a rigid wall was developed to simulate the detonation process. The results for propagation of a shock wave are in good accordance with the physical observations. After that, the SPH results were employed as initial conditions for the BEM to simulate the bubble pulsation. The obtained numerical results show that the bubble expanded at first and then shrunk due to a differences of pressure levels inside and outside it. Here, a good agreement between the numerical and experimental results for the shapes, the maximum radius and the movement of the bubble proved the effectiveness of the developed numerical model. Finally, the BEM results for a stage when an initial jet was formed were used as initial conditions for the SPH method to simulate the process of jet formation and its impact on the rigid wall. The numerical results agreed well with the experimental data, verifying the feasibility and suitability of the hybrid algorithm. Besides, the results show that, due to the effect of the Bjerknes force, a jet with a high speed was formed that may cause local damage to underwater structures.

Objectives. There is a need to assess the 2009 new healthcare reform in China on hypertension prevention. It helps to control from the perspectives of multisectoral participation, government responsibility assignment, performance assessment, and service delivery. Design. Interrupted time-series study. Setting. 31 provinces in mainland China. Primary and Secondary Outcome Measures. Based on the content analysis of publicly available policy documents from 31 provinces regarding hypertension prevention and control, we analyzed the changes brought by the 2009 new healthcare reform through four quantitative indicators, including multisector participation (MP), main department responsibility coverage (MDRC), primary department assessment indicator coverage (MDAIC), and service type coverage (STC). We compared the changing trends of four indicators before and after 2009. Results. Nationally, MP, MDRC, and STC grew rapidly and increased to 88.9%, 96.4%, and 77.8%, respectively, in 2017, higher than MDAIC (36.9%). This growth was accelerated by the new healthcare reform, with the highest acceleration in MP (β3 = 6.345, p < 0.001 ), followed by MDRC (β3 = 3.829, p < 0.01 ), STC (β3 = 3.799, p < 0.001 ), and MDAIC (β3 = 3.585, p < 0.001 ). The MP and MDRC trend changes were higher in the central and western regions than in the east after the reform. Conclusions. Our research showed that the new healthcare reform had a positive effect in promoting multisectoral participation in preventing and controlling hypertension in China, improving the responsibility mechanism, and expanding the types of services provided. The government should lead the coordination and implementation of multidepartmental responsibilities and mobilize nonhealth departments to continuously participate in the prevention and control of chronic diseases by improving incentive and evaluation mechanisms.

A semi-analytical method based on coupling Wagner theory with the finite element method is applied to numerically simulate hydroelastic slamming of arbitrary symmetric 2D structural sections subject to a constant impact velocity or to free fall motion. The averaged elastic velocity method is adopted to consider the influence of the elastic response on the distribution of the slamming load. A coupled dynamic equation is established to govern the fluid-structural interaction. The nonlinear pressure term improves accuracy. To validate the method, numerically predicted structural deformations and the associated strains during impact for several wedge-shaped sections and a cylindrical shell are compared with published results. The results show that the averaged elastic velocity method is efficient in estimating the structure dynamics. The effect of the nonlinear pressure term on hydroelastic structural dynamics is parametrically studied by considering wedge sections with different deadrise angles and with the elastic bottom plating under different end constraints. This nonlinear pressure term ensures reliably predicted hydroelastic structural responses, especially for wedges of larger deadrise angles and smaller hydroelastic properties. The proposed method provides an efficient tool to estimate structural strength under slamming during the initial design stage of the marine or aerospace structure.

Background: Environmental endocrine disruptors, which have a profound impact on the reproductive system, can cause endocrine and reproductive disorders, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a common endocrine disruptor which can affect the function of the reproductive system under low-dose conditions. However, the mechanism by which this molecule disrupts normal reproduction is still unclear. In this study, we investigated the effects of BPA on the RNA methyltransferase METTL3 in adolescent female rats which may be a possible mode of action of BPA. Methods: 4-week-old Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were intragastrically treated for 10 weeks, which were divided into blank group (n = 8), control group (soybean oil, n = 8), three BPA-treatment groups (0.5 mg/kg BPA + soybean oil, 5 mg/kg BPA + soybean oil, 50 mg/kg BPA + soybean oil, n = 8). Results: The results showed that low-dose BPA (0.5 mg/kg) increased the coefficient of uteri and ovaries, and promoted the growth of uteri in rats without causing hyperandrogenism and ovarian polycystic changes. Oral BPA disturbed the expression of CYP17A1, CYP11A1 and METTL3 in ovaries and effected the level of serum testosterone. Conclusions: Our results suggested that oral BPA might interfere uterine and ovarian morphology and the level of hormone with RNA methylation by disturbing the expression level of METTL3. RNA methylation will be a new way to explain the interference mechanism of BPA.

In this paper, a coupled scheme utilizing advantages of the Runge–Kutta discontinuous Galerkin (RKDG) method and finite elements is applied to investigate cavitation induced by rarefaction waves during a near-field underwater explosion of cylindrical charge. A high-order RKDG method has advantages of an accurate shock capturing. So, it was used to solve a governing Eulerian equation for a compressible fluid. A finite-element method (FEM) was suitable to deal with problems of a shock response of structures and, therefore, applied for structural analysis. The suggested method was used to study pressure characteristics and cavitation effects of underwater explosions of cylindrical charges near single/double plates. First, a cavitation model was introduced in the RKDG method, and a numerical model of a high-pressure bubble in a cylinder was developed. The obtained numerical results were compared with the known solution in order to verify the validity of the suggested method. Second, a RKDG-FEM model of underwater explosion of a spherical charge near a plate was developed; its results for maximum deflection at the centre of the plate were compared with experimental data to prove the effectiveness of the coupled algorithm. Then, this algorithm was employed to simulate the process of underwater explosions of cylindrical charges near a single plate. Here, effects of different parameters - thickness of the plate and a distance between the charge and the plate - on pressure and cavitation characteristics were studied. Finally, a numerical model of double plates subjected to a near-field underwater explosion was developed. Cavitation evolution and its effect on shock-wave loading were analysed. Additionally, the effect of the distance between two plates was studied. The suggested analysis and its results provide a reference for load characteristics of near-field underwater explosions and shock response of structures.

In this paper, the intense sloshing flow is simulated by Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method successfully. First, the traditional SPH method is used for the simulation of sloshing process; and the obtained results for free surface shape and pressure evolution are in good agreement with the experimental data. Then, the δ-SPH method and particle shifting technique (PST) are introduced in the traditional SPH model to improve its stability and accuracy in simulating sloshing flow. Air phase does have an inescapable influence on water phase in intense sloshing process. Thus, an improved multiphase SPH model with pressure correction algorithm is utilized for interfacial sloshing simulation. The stability, accuracy and conservation of pressure correction algorithm are validated by the cases of hydrostatic test and dam breaking test. Besides, the comparison results show that unphysical pressure transmission at the interface between two fluids with large density ratio is effectively suppressed. Finally, the effect of air is considered in the multiphase flow simulation of sloshing process with presented multiphase δ-SPH and pressure correction utilized. The phenomenon that air phase is involved into inner water flow and then moves, rolls and rises in it is replicated accurately. It is found that both the shape of free surface and the air cavities during the slamming phase are well captured, which proves that the integrated multiphase SPH is effectively utilized for the simulation of such multiphase problem as sloshing.

Immersed smoothed point interpolation method (IS-PIM) was successfully proposed for solving fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems with large solid deformations. However, the defects of IS-PIM include inaccurate solid boundary, spurious pressure oscillation and the “fresh node” phenomenon, which will cause different degrees of numerical errors. In order to solve these problems, the ghost-node immersed smoothed point interpolation method (Ghost-node-ISPIM) has been presented in this paper. In this method, the ghost-node technique is firstly proposed and achieved based on unstructured triangular elements, combined with mass source/sink algorithm and the sharp-interface method to fix the inherent defects existed in original IS-PIM. The effectiveness and superiority of the Ghost-node-ISPIM are demonstrated by a series of typical FSI numerical examples.

A process of target penetration by a shaped-charge jet includes three main stages: charge detonation, formation of a metallic jet and its penetration of the target. With continuously increasing computational power, a numerical approach gradually becomes more prominent (combined with experimental and theoretical methods) in investigations of performance of a shaped-charge jet and its target penetration. This paper presents a meshfree methodology - Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) - for a shaped charge penetrating underwater structures. First, a SPH model of a sphere impacting a plate is developed; its numerical results agree well with the experimental data, verifying the validity of the mentioned developed method. Then, results obtained for different cases - for various materials of explosives and liners - are discussed and compared, and as a result, more suitable parameters of the shaped charge in order to increase the penetration depth are obtained - HMX and copper were chosen respectively as the explosive and the liner material. It follows by validation of a model of a free-field underwater explosion, developed to verify the effectiveness of the modified SPH method in solving problems of underwater explosion; its numerical results are compared with an empirical formula. Finally, the SPH method is applied to simulate the entire process ranging from the detonation of the shaped charge to the target penetration employing the optimal parameters. A fluid around the shaped charge is included into analysis, and damage characteristics of the plate exposed to air and water on its back side are compared.

A shape of charge liners has a great effect on formation of a metal jet and its penetration into a target. In this paper, three different shapes of a charge liner, namely, conical, hemispherical and spherical-segment, are chosen to investigate their effect on damage response of a plate to underwater explosion. A Smooth Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) method based on mesh-free Lagrange formulation is applied to simulate an entire process of a shaped-charge detonation, formation of a metal jet as well as penetration on a steel plate. Initially, a SPH model of the shaped charge with a spherical-segment liner is developed, and its results are compared with experimental data to verify the effectiveness of this method. Then, numerical simulations of shaped charges with different liners are performed to study the damage characteristics of a steel plate subjected to underwater-explosion shock loading and the metal jet. It was found that for the shock wave the peak value of the radial pressure is larger than that of the axial pressure during the detonation process; the level of pressure in the spherical-segment case was higher than that of the other two cases. After the detonation, the metal jet was gradually produced under the effect of the detonation wave. Three types of the metal jet - a shaped charge jet (SCJ), a jetting projectile charge (JPC) and an explosive formed projectile (EFP) – were formed corresponding to three cases with conical, hemispherical and spherical-segment liners. The obtained results show that the velocity and length of the SCJ in the conical case are greater than that of the other cases, and it therefore may lead to a larger penetration depth. In addition, the EFP has a better motion stability for a velocity difference in the spherical case is lower than that of the other two cases. Subsequently, the shock wave arrives at the plate earlier than the metal jet, which will cause deformation of the plate. Due to higher pressure, the shock wave in the spherical-segment case has a stronger damaging effect on the plate than that in the other two cases. Finally, the metal jet reaches the plate causing a hole. Because of a wider jet head, the EFP results in a more serious damage to the plate. The suggested analysis and its results provide a reference for structural design of shaped charge warheads.

In this work, the fluid–structure interaction (FSI) problems have been studied by coupling the δ Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics ( δ SPH) with the Smoothed Point Interpolation Method (SPIM), which is abbreviated as δ SPH–SPIM coupled method. SPIM is used for structure dynamics owing to its good performance for large deformation analysis of solids. For the fluid solver, in order to further reduce the unphysical noise in pressure field, the δ SPH (where the density diffusion term is added into the continuity equation) is adopted. Inspired by the particle-element method, a new interpolation scheme is proposed for the coupling force calculation and transfer, which does not require the fluid and solid spacing to be the same. The coupled method has been verified by hydrostatic water column on an elastic plate, and has been applied to solve the problems of high speed water entry of an elastic wedge as well as dam-break flow.

Prediction of structural response during water entry is of great significance for the design of naval architecture and aircraft. In order to study fluid-structural interaction (FSI) of flexible wedge during water entry, coupling algorithms based on boundary element method (BEM)/Wagner theory and modal superposition method (MSM) are utilized. The first solution is a numerical method by coupling BEM and MSM based on domain decomposition technique. The second solution is a semi-analytical method by coupling Wagner theory and MSM. Non-linear pressure composition in the Bernoulli equation is used to improve the accuracy for wedge with moderate deadrise angles. The implicitly Newmark-β scheme is employed for time marching of structural dynamic equation. Effects of hydroelasticity on fluid pressure and structural response are studied by the comparison between coupling and decoupling solutions. The results show that the structural response is significantly affected by the presence of fluid added mass and damping. Structural response is lagged due to the fluid added mass and damping. Besides, the latter one causes the decrease of amplitudes of slamming load and structural response. This paper highlights the effect of hydroelasticity on slamming load and structural response during water entry of flexible structure.

A high-speed metal jet capable to cause severe damage to a double-hull structure can be produced after detonation of a shaped charge. A Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method with a mesh-free and Lagrange formulations has natural advantages in solving extremely dynamic problems. Hence, it was used to simulate the formation process of a shaped-charge jet. A Finite Element Method (FEM) is suitable for a structural analysis and is highly efficient for simulations of a complex impact process in a relatively short time; therefore, it was applied to develop a double-hull model. In this paper, a hybrid algorithm fully utilizing advantages of both SPH and FEM is proposed to simulate a metal-jet penetration into a double hull made of different materials – steel and SPS (Sandwich Plate System). First, a SPH-FEM model of a sphere impacting a plate was developed, and its results were compared with experimental data to validate the suggested algorithm. Second, numerical models of steel/SPS double-hull subjected to a shaped-charge jet were developed and their results for jet formation, a penetration process and a damage response were analysed and compared. The obtained results show that the velocity of the metal jet tended to decrease from its tip to the tail during its formation process. The jet broke into separate fragments after the first steel shell was penetrated, causing the damage zone of the second shell that grew as a result of continuous impact by fragments. As for the SPS structure, its damage zone was smaller, and the jet trended to bend becoming thinner due to the resistance of the composite layer. It was found that the polyurethane layer could have a protective effect for the second shell.

High speed liquid jet and shockwave can be produced when a bubble collapses near a rigid wall, which may cause severe damage to solid structures. A hybrid algorithm was adopted to simulate bubble motion and associated pressures near a wall combining Level Set-Modified Ghost Fluid-Discontinuous Galerkin (LS-MGF-DG) method and boundary element method (BEM). Numerical results were compared with experimental data to validate the presented algorithm. Jet formation was simulated by BEM and the induced pressure on the wall was calculated with auxiliary function. The pressure at the point on the wall where the jet points to reaches its peak value after the jet penetrates the bubble. Bubble collapse and rebounding were simulated by the LS-MGF-DG method. Shock-wave is induced when the bubble collapse toroidally to a minimum volume and the pressure at wall center reaches the maximum due to shockwave superposition. A third pressure peak is found associated with the bubble rebounds and bubble splitting. In the case studied, a higher pressure was found due to collapse shockwave than bubble jet and affects a larger area of the wall. In addition, the three pressure peaks due to jet impact, collapse impact as well as bubble rebounding and splitting decrease with the increase of the standoff distance.

Hence, it is used to investigate pressure characteristics and dynamic response of hull structures subjected to near-field underwater explosion. Effect of free surface was taken into consideration. Propagation of shock wave in multi medium and its dynamic response to hull structures were analyzed.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs)@MnOOH core–shell nanocomposites, in which the CNTs core is uniformly coated with a shell of MnOOH nanoflakes, were successfully synthesized using a facile hydrothermal method. The appearance of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) plays a key role in forming the unique CNTs@MnOOH core–shell. A high dielectric loss tangent value was observed for the samples with/without SDBS. Significantly, the CNTs@MnOOH core–shell nanocomposites exhibit an electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of 13–15 dB in the frequency range of 8–18 GHz, which can be attributed to the improved absorption loss, resulting from the increased electrical conductivity, and the improved impedance matching of the core–shell structure. Moreover, the increasing interfaces between the MnOOH and CNTs favor the electromagnetic attenuation performance. Our findings strongly confirm that the CNTs@MnOOH core–shell nanocomposites can be considered as a potential candidate for electromagnetic applications.

In this paper, a modified smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) formula is deduced to solve the problem of interfaces with a high density ratio. Simplified SPH models for single and double cylindrical shells (abbreviated as single-hull and double-hull models, respectively) are established to study shock wave propagation and to conduct the damage analysis. The SPH results for the single-hull model are verified by AUTODYN. In addition, the damage analysis indicates that the single-hull model is damaged more severely than the double-hull model. The inner shell in the double-hull model is protected by a water interlayer.

The vegetation coverage in different areas was calculated based on remote sensing images (TM images) in 1986, 2002 and 2011 by employing the method of dimidiate pixel model in Sheng Jin Lake of Anhui province. The vegetation fraction maps of different periods were generated to analyze the temporal change of the vegetation fraction of the Sheng Jin Lake area. The results showed that the vegetation fraction changed greatly from 1986 to 2011. The average vegetation fraction increased from 57.02 to 60.30 %, the medium vegetation coverage continued to increase. The vegetation coverage decreased sharply from 1986 to 2002, and then increased slightly, from 2002 to 2011. The vegetation coverage presented the trend of degradation to recovery. The proportion of the experimental area affected by this trend was larger, which played a considerable role in the environmental quality. In the future, ecological environmental construction should be considered in the experimental area, because of the increasing environment problem in recent decades.

Carbon spheres (CS)@MnO2 core-shell nanocomposites, with MnO2 nanoflakes uniformly coating at the surface of CS cores, were successfully synthesized by a facile water-bathing method. MnO2 amounts is estimated to be 24.7 wt% in CS@MnO2 nanocomposites. A high dielectric loss value and an electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of 16‒23 dB were observed for the CS@MnO2 in the frequency range of 8‒18 GHz, which is mainly attributed to the enhanced absorption loss. The incorporation of the CS with MnO2 improves the electrical conductivity. Meanwhile, the electromagnetic impendence matching has been significantly ameliorated. Moreover, the increasing interfaces between the CS and MnO2 facilitate the microwave attenuation as well. Thus, the electromagnetic shielding performances were greatly enhanced. Our findings provide an effective methodology for the synthesis of the CS@MnO2 core-shell nanocomposite for potential electromagnetic applications.
